Title: List of Answered Suggestions. Please don't create topics before read them all!
Post by: hd49728 on June 01, 2019, 05:52:48 AM
The topic originated from the fact that there are so many topics create in Meta board, and repeatedly asked for forum improvements or changes of some forum systems. They asked, sugggested and already answered repeatedly by theymos, global moderators, or moderators from time to time. Therefore, to save more clean space for Meta board, I started the topic, in which I list a few categories of boring suggestions with hope that users will spend their time to read all available topics and answers before creating their own ones. Some how, this list might help to reduce unneccessary new topics on such issues.

Those topic you linked are not helpful to reduce any new topic creation they are redundant and few time would you see such topics being asked or discussed here. And you are not in any position to label a topic or create any list of ignored suggestion. I suggest you  lock this thread or add it to your list as well

Word might be changed (I still think of most appropriate word), but if you don't see this topic is helpful, please ignore it.
It is truly non-sense for spammers because they don't care about what they write/ ask, but it makes sense for others, whom have no known that their questions, problems, suggestions already answered.
Thank you.

You should move it maybe to the  Beginners & Help (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0) Section .
There it would be better for the New User when they have such questions for this things !

<...>
No, but to many people their account is valuable to them (i.e. for trading of the forum, ann thread management, bounties, PMs, and so on). Many accounts have a fair share of time invested behind them too, so adding it all together makes it reasonable as an optional means to protect one’s account. The account recovery process (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.msg48896084#msg48896084) is much better now that it was in the past, and that’s a (big) help, but still 2FA would make sense as an optional feature.

The topics I noticed that is created or started for several times like suggesting to remove merit system as we all know that the forum will return in the worst situation happen before the implementation of merit system and a suggestions of having two factor authentication 8n bitcointalk.org forum which is clearly true because of the list of topics you have included in your op. People nowadays are lazy enough to do any research if the topic he/she like to discuss has already been discussed before that results in having different threads here in the forum where the threads have the same content or topic to discuss or to suggest.

Another index?

There are so many people who already created an index about some informational topics in this forum. I wonder what's the difference of this thread to the others?

Its kinda silly though cos I don't see any reason to implement 2FA on this forum when we aren't keeping money or coins on here

2FA is not just only for money or digital currency, we can use it for the security of the account. My account is very important to me than having a small amount of crypto, I can manage to earn profit through this account for having a service.

The list looks like it is the list of question on the features offered by bitcointalk. There is one more feature that is trust.

Here are few of it's threads:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5118014.0 by @DdmrDdmr

Hope this can be added.

The list looks like it is the list of question on the features offered by bitcointalk. There is one more feature that is trust.

Here are few of it's threads:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0 by @theymos
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5118014.0 by @DdmrDdmr

Hope this can be added.
Much as I may like my analysis, neither of those threads now reflect how trust works. @Theymos modified the trust system this June (see Trust flags (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153344.0)). There are now two dimension to trust (+ a lateral dimension of determining the DT network): Trust Flags and Trust Rates. In essence, although those two threads have part of the fundamentals, the Trust  System does not work exactly that way anymore.

I think that several of the problems with Trust were because three different goals were being jammed into one system:
 1. Getting a general idea of someone's trade history and trustworthiness in one convenient location, sort of like reviews on sites like EBay. <…>
<…> Use-case #1 is the old trust system, but I made the descriptions on the rating types a bit more general and removed the concept of a trust score. The numbers are now "distinct positive raters / distinct neutral raters / distinct negative raters". You should give these ratings for anything which you think would impact someone's willingness to trade with the person, but you should not use trust ratings to attack a person's opinions or otherwise talk about things which would not be relevant to reasonable prospective traders. <…>
In other words, the Trust Score (a derivate of the positive and negative trust scores over timr ) does not exists anymore. Instead, all three counters are now independent. For example, you can have 2 positive trust scores, none neutral, and three negative ones. Those 3 counters stay as they are, with no aggregate summary counter as there was before. It is always up to each person to determine if the trust feedback itself is meaningful to him or not in accordance to his interests.

Note that in the above quoted text, the idea of these ratings and their feedback should be related to trade. This was the original intent shown in the link you referenced from @theymos, but criteria is personal and, overtime, it has been used for all sorts of things, tagging people for reasons that differ from trade in one way or another. That feedback is still there, and some people have revised to some extent some of their prior feedback in accordance to this guideline.

I don’t want to extend myself much further (done so enough), so I’ll skip flags here (refer to link above for a full understanding).
Complementary:  [GUIDE] Overview of the trust flags (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156835.0)

I don't think the bump score algorithm (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5183553.0) will be applied in the Beginners & Help board.

Potential reasons to not apply the algorithm:
  • It is the board for beginners who surely can create simple and 'funny' questions. After creating funny questions, and get answers, they can ask another funny questions, repeatedly. I know there are 'fake' beginners who try to troll or ask stupid questions to promote their services, but let's keep the board for beginners as it has been.
  • Mostly, the board does not relate to financial incentives and very different than  Service Announcements, Announcements (Altcoins), Tokens (Altcoins), Bounties (Altcoins).

i think this post should be made at the freebies forum because most people that post their are newbies with little or no full idea of how this platform works.  Also this post comes up when someone make a comment on it. it will be hard for people that wants to ask similar questions shown in this thread to see it. most feeble sentences created here are of no use and need to be remove.

Since your post is in the Beginners and Help section, I think that the topics have been selected on the basis of the questions from newcomers. After joining the forum, one of the common questions in their mind is "How to add images to the post?" Here is two examples

How to Add image on Bitcoin Talk Post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2343889.0)

Images (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5129236.0)

So I think you may add this two topics on the Original Post.

Guideline on posting images (with size adjustments), hyperlinks (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3974517.0)

How to upload images on bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5034682.0)
