As I finally succeeded in explaining to my elderly aunt, Google is not the Internet.

Too bad no one ever took the time to teach you to read.

I never experienced any of the outages probably because all of those sites suck.

My elderly aunt is asking what is the cause and still google uncle cannot give us the reason for the outrage.
Majority of the network had the same outage not just google. Since i am not using any of their services i did not notice anything until i saw this thread :D.

Deep web is basically most of the internet so even though those websites went offline, that's not even close to the whole internet, in fact many studies show that 99% of the internet is basically in the deep web and you can't google it. It would also be quite hard to 'turn off' the internet, you could do it physically but you would need to have access to all the aquatic cables (the internet) and cut them all at once, which seems quite fucking hard.

I didn't really noticed it until I clicked on a Tim Pool vid and people are posting that there was an outage. Must be coz I'm not constantly looking down at my phone or maybe I was just streaming music at the time.

Oh, so many governments to blame. If people get upset with a minor outage just imagine when countries start blasting EMP at each other.  ;D

Oh no, what will we ever do without internet and power

A week or two ago both Google's DNS servers and my ISP's (Viasat) were down for about 15 minutes.  Most things eventually stopped working by the time it was done.  There could have other failures also.  Some things worked and some did not even absent DNS it seemed, but to be honest I didn't evaluate it much.

I figured there was some possibility of it being fallout of a backbone restructure shift, and further some possibility that it was part of a switch to a new framework which will have more protection against some of the legacy deficiencies which lingers.  You know; 'freedom' for users to communicate peer-to-peer and that sort of thing.  It's becoming a real national/international security threat.

It was reported that the Google related outage was around the same (https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/internet/google-confirms-big-outage-youtube-gmail-other-major-services-n1012976) time as Level 3 Communications was having some problems. Another article says (https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-cloud-goes-down-taking-youtube-gmail-snapchat-and-others-with-it/) the Level 3 outage connectivity problems between various Google data centers.

Most, if not all, of the services cited in the OP article are reliant on Google Cloud at least partially. All the services cited are very major services that use a lot of computing power/resources.

If anyone has their work censored by youtube, I start downloading all of their works as soon as I see them.  I have a ton of vids which I've never watched including a collection of about 100 actual medical doctors lecturing on some of their understandings of the risks of vaccinations.  Most of them an hour long or so.

And, of course, I've got a ton of porn but I stopped downloading that about 10 years ago.  The risk of porn disappearing seems minimal although we could have a situation where it is 100% gay-ass shemale crap or whatever which doesn't interest me.  Seems to be the direction our media masters are taking us.  Thank God that the pleb classes can make their own more interesting stuff as well.  Hopefully they won't be cut out of publishing it when internet-II is unveiled.

LOL yeah, I remember how porn used to go around back in the days. DVDs or 3gps passed from one phone to another. Boner finds a way.  ;D

Still disturbing that pretty much all work now requires the internet and they are capable of ruining our day if they want to. I mean, I can totally imagine Google doing this now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntICHMV-WMA

You should try now again to explain the opposite.

Yawns... Believe me, that outage would've passed unnoticed were it in Africa with all our attendant power problems.

I'm sure this is already possible with some Japanese toilet models, they come equipped with all necessary things in place, and i wouldn't be surprised the IoT mania hasn't reached those.

Last time i was there i did saw a pure digital one, it had only buttons to operate, including the jet stream. Oddly enough the stop button was in kanji, you better learn that one before sitting as it won't stop until you push it (if you engage it or let the sensor do it). Arguably the pranksters would activate it again or disable this stop button...

It would we wise to never let those on the net :)
