Gennady Golovkin vs Steve Rolls

GGG will be back again on the square ring this weekend against Steve Rolls which is not popular to me (i thought it's Mayweather at first glance of the photo  ;D).

Undefeated in 19 outings, do you think he got a chance to upset the return of GGG just like what Ruiz did to Joshua?

Online bookies odds had it GGG = 1.01, Rolls = 15.00, that's insane IMO, almost no profit if you bet on GGG.

I think Rolls has no chance vs GG. Odds are non usable, you cant bet on that match.

But we saw Ruiz vs Joshua, how it ended  ???

This match is a simple business move because GGG and Tom Loeffler have mentioned this fight is important for DAZN because they want to get more subscribers from Canada.

There is no way you can compare this fight with Joshua vs Ruiz fight. We are talking about a veteran in this sport ,that's still one of the best in the world against a guy that was fighting not that long ago against guys with losing record. Steve Rolls never fight against any notable name in his career and this will be the first time he's going to play a 12 round match.

It should be interesting if underdog bettors won, just like Anthony Joshua's case (11-1). However, I think GGG experienced enough to avoid stupid mistakes as Joshua did.
I have a theory. This month is not a black boxer month ;D

15-1 is much worse than 11-1 though.

But I'm sure that there would be some people who would bet and risk for those odds(as usual).

Even the blind would able to tell on whose gonna win so its no surprise for those bookie odds.
Actually laugh on that no black boxer for this month.  ;D

I think here is a different situation because bookies usually offer odd 1.01 because they can't simply put odd 1.00 for the favorite. Honestly I've seen 2 matches in the recent years where had odds 1.01 to win and they still lost. One was at tennis when Djocovick played and the other was at snooker where O'ssulivan played. But here we are talking about boxing and the players only have a few fights a year compared to tennis or snooker where they play dozens and they can afford to lose some of them. In boxing a single match can ruin your career or make you rise to whole new levels.

Silly fight to make really who has ever heard of this man 'Rolls'?
Maybe a play on the amount on the rounds but someone with the experience of Rolls will not fair so well with someone like GGG
Just to keep GGG busy and to pay his new very expensive contract

Agree, odds are not worth the risk, i could even bet if it is 1.05 for GGG but not 1.01.

For sure GGG have seen the fight and for sure he don't want to be like Joshua, besides Rolls is unknown fighter to many fight fans.

I'll still go for Golovkin, he's been to a lot of great fights before and he has fought fighters of Rolls's calibers, and Rolls never fought somebody like GGG, and besides is still in the prime of his career, but we should not forget what happened last week, we just got the biggest upset in the history and we could possibly have another.

Look at the belt of Golovkin, he's trying  to say that he holds a lot of belt and he will protect it against the odds. I go for Golovkin here because of his last good fight but Rolls is also a good boxer though he's lack on some good punches. Another great math up to watch for, don't miss this fight and it can be the real main event of the night.

GGG will just steamroll Rolls here, I'm not really sure what the odds are, but GGG will be a favourite here. If I'm not mistaken this will be his comeback fight, so I'm expecting some ring rust but when GGG get the feel of it again, it's possible that he can KO Rolls.

Im not familiar with Rolls, but this is a good strategic fight for Golovkin. I mean if he wins by a knock-out then he will be back in the contention with a possible mega fight with Canelo Alvarez again.

Remember that they are both in DAZN now, so I'm sure the people behind will start to build the hype around Golovkin and when the money is on the table, I'm expecting another super fight.

So for this fight, expect Golovkin to give us a good showing.

Interesting match up, I am also not familiar with who GGG is fighting.
I think GGG got this and he is experienced enough to not underestimate his opponent.
It would not be bad on putting a small bet on Rolls though, one single powerful punch can change the match  :D

This is not a match played to find out who's the better fighter between GGG and Rolls because you can compare Rolls here with a middle schooler jumping directly into NBA. Betting on the number of rounds is a good idea because GGG will not finish this match very quickly since they are looking for fans to enjoy it.

Hope this would not be an upset match for GGG like Anthony Joshua's recent fight against Andy Ruiz.
Everything can happen and each opponent on professional boxing is dangerous.

Someone can get really rich win 15x bet on Rolls.

It's going to be the biggest upset in the middleweight division if Rolls managed to beat Golovkin, GGG is still in the prime of his career, he is more hungry more than ever because he knows he is a challenger and he wants to get the title back as soon as possible, so expect an explosive Golovkin when he returns.

I wonder who creates a matchup for this, Rolls clearly is a big underdog I have seen some of his matches and his style is very much suited for Golovkin, he hit and run,  Golovkin like to be the hunter he will haunt this guy and punish him with body shots, this fight lacks expectation GGG will surely win this match.

As Golovkin said in his interview, Rolls is going to be a good opportunity to test his new trainer (Johnathon Banks).
They signed a new contract recently a going against top contenders with new training programme/skills/I don't know what Banks can teach him is going to be crazy.

Btw, as I remember clearly, Banks was a former trainer of Wladimir Klichko.

We can see that Gennady Golovkin is a fan favorite in the ring, And with his reign of records that he has, the only obstacle that he had with his record was against Canelo Alvarez with a 1 draw and a 1 loss so I think Golovkin will definitely win the match because of many experiences in the ring and a punching power like no other, I guess Steve Roll will not stand a chance.

I'll still bet to Golovkin. I have seen how he fought on his previous matches and we all know that he had a long and serious preparation for this fight. I know that Steve Rolls could also do something to win against Golovkin but I think it will be really hard for him.

Surely the experience of GGG on this fight will be a big factor especially if the match goes on in the later rounds. He still has the power and the durability. For Rolls to win, his best chance is to knock GGG early (in the first six rounds).

I may think that this is a suicide game for Rolls into GGG. Triple G is once to be undefeated but he losses to someone which is much better to him Canelo Alvarez. Rolls haven't anything to prove great that the world have knew him but GGG did it several times. It's gonna be this fight will possibly resulting into 60/40 in favor to triple G.

People are unanimous for picking Golovkin over Rolls, and it's pretty obvious, because of Golovkin's punching power and experience in fighting in championship fights, but who knows we may have a second upset for this month, I am not ruling out an upset but Golovkin is one hell of a fighter.

I ruled out an upset here since i think GGG have seen enough of the upsets in the recent weeks and besides Rolls inexperience would be a factor also going into this fight. Gonna close my eyes here, bet my money on GGG, going to get that 1% profit  :).

I think this is the time for GGG to redeem himself after getting his first loss against Canelo.

Rolls is not a familiar boxer for me and its obvious that he is an underdog in this fight. With what happened between the Ruiz Jr and Joshua fight, man are now thinking different when a familiar boxer is against an underdog. :D Many are thinking that GGG will win in this fight but anything can happen now. Rolls can upset GGG in their fight but lets see.

GGG make sure that there is no upset this time as he knocks out Rolls in the fourth round. This could be a set-up to their 3rd meeting in the ring with Canelo Alvarez as this is what the fight fans want to see.
