Title: Bitcoin Segwit address tag
Post by: BitcoinGirl.Club on June 03, 2019, 08:16:18 PM
I know Blockchain.com offers tagging a bitcoin legacy address: https://www.blockchain.com/btc/tags

My question is that is there any other explorer that allows to do the same for segwit address?

Thanks in advance.

Btc.com has "mentions" but I'm not sure what thats based on.

Blockchair and trail don't seem to have anything either so I don't think the others do. The tagging doesn't do very much though... You can't search for a tag afaik.

Blockchain.com doesn't fully support segwit yet.
And tagging is pretty much useless, and it will be bad for your privacy.
Also, it will only work in blockchain.com explorer

This is the only site (https://bitcoinwhoswho.com/) i've found, it lets you tag some segwit addresses but you can't tag the other segwit address that starts with "bc1q" because they don't appear on their end.

Btc.com has "mentions" but I'm not sure what thats based on.
The mentions from btc.com are based on links or pages where the specific address is mentioned.

Blockcypher (https://live.blockcypher.com/btc) will allow you to add "Meta Data" to any bitcoin address... But, anyone can do it even without the private key.
Just click the "</> Add Metadata" button below the page after you copy-paste-search an address.

Example: 3LgUWbSkwvKoTdn8xexf7GqpVBRLwMs6TE (https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/address/3LgUWbSkwvKoTdn8xexf7GqpVBRLwMs6TE/)
(Scroll to the bottom of the page: this was written "Sample Metadata from Bitcointalk: 04-June-2019")

Thanks for the option to point but this is not what I was looking for. Anyway, looks like the feature is website specific and I only noticed it in Blockchain.com. Since they do not support segwit yet then it's not possible to have the same feature for segwit.

Thanks for your inputs again.
