Title: LBC query!
Post by: Findingnemo on June 04, 2019, 03:26:59 PM
Why localbitcoins allow the person to give feedack on us even if they don't have any previous trade history with us?

There is actually no answer for "Why" as the system is as it is as they have developed.
But the system I also very much dislike and I faced an issue in the past for which my account rep got harmed even without trade with that particular trader.  :(

It was like, you have a disagreement and you will receive a negative rating.

From the FAQ (I'm assuming never traded means with each other):

Quote
Users that have never traded can’t leave feedback, however, if they mark each other as trusted or not trusted they are able to leave trustworthy, neutral or block feedback.

I'm not an LBC user but I'm not sure how would that be possible according to the statement above?

It's also worth mentioning that there are two types of feedback, confirmed and unconfirmed ones. If it's unconfirmed, then it won't be visible for anyone but you and the staff members.

There is a confliction between LBC's FAQs and support reply I guess.

When I got the negative rating I had contacted LBC to help remove the negative rating which is not based on trading, instead, it happened due to disagreement.

They replied,
Quote
The feedback you received will not be removed. LocalBitcoins does not remove or edit feedback, unless it contains abusive, racist language, threats or exposes personal information.

My account rating dropped from 100% to 93% and I had to stop trading there because I felt that other traders will think of me as untrustworthy when they see my profile. That's the thing I don't wanted and so I quit trading.

When users with less trading volume leave feedback it will marked as confirmed but the trading volume is not too high, even person with 30 trades did that to me just because she didn't pay me on the time, when I asked about it she marked me as untrustworthy.

I am using localbicoins since 2015 to exchange the bitcoin into cash. Review and rating with the trade only have the consideration apart from that dummy review will not be in consideration.
Then automatically you can see the small or high trade volume while you share the rating and feedback any users.

But it affected my trust score 5%,is this fair that someone who didn't complete can make me as a look trader?

I asked about it to their contact support but said feedbacks are not moderated so you can't do anything.

Are you completely sure that it was someone you didn't have a deal with?

Even if the deal doesn't go through, but money was entered into escrow and there was an initial agreement to make a deal happen, then the counterparty does have the right to leave negative trust. Otherwise, if facing a seller with ill intentions, does the buyer have to complete the trade just to leave feedback? It is probably designed to be this way.

However, I do see an option of blocking traders without even opening a trade with them in the first place, which is quite odd. Though, I don't think that has anything to do with your trust score.

I opened a trade but the trader never responded and the time also got expired after 90 minutes. Then later he came online I asked about why didn't pay me or you might just cancelled the trade if you don't want but that trader just blocked me which immediately reflected on my feedback score.

Trader doesn't risk any money on it because I am selling my bitcoin to him.
