That's indeed sad but at least you're able to reduce your loss.

Web wallets are the least safe place to store your funds and the extra layer of security won't help much in mitigating its risks. Moving to a much safer wallet would be a good start.

And yes, hardware wallet is a good choice op, I personally use it as my main wallet. Here is a list to choose from: https://bitcoin.org/en/wallets/hardware/
Lastly is, we control our coins and we are responsible for taking security measures to keep it safe so I suggest reading this Securing your wallet (https://bitcoin.org/en/secure-your-wallet)

It looks like you've been phished?

Are you sure that you enter the correct URL of Blockchain wallet?

Are you sure no one knows your account? Who created your account?

Because many scammers give a fake blockchain wallet with watch-only wallet and you have no control over this wallet. So let us know if who created your account and paste the URL here so that we can verify if you are using correct blockchain website.

Most likely, since he mentioned that all else is secured, he must have logged-in his credentials in some phishing site which gave the hacker a chance to get his log-in details. That is why I never leave my funds online, hardware wallets might be a little expensive, but it's your best security for your funds. It is most recommended especially if you are keeping a lot of crypto.

There's no way for them to give back what was stolen, bitcoin transactions are irreversible, and no wallet offers insurance if ever your wallet is stolen from their site, since your password and safety of your account is in your hands.

If you can recall, have you clicked any suspicious sites, or e-mails with site of blockchain.com?
Looking where the address is from or where your coins ended will only waste your time and will take you nowhere. There is no way for you to take back your stolen bitcoin.
Let this be an expensive lesson for you and move on.  I feel bad for your loss.

Did you click one of those emails that said you were paid x amount and to login? Where did the $1200 come from you never explained that? Are you saying $1200 came from nowhere or was it your own payment.
If you saw a supported payment and logged in to get it then it's your own fault. Still not sure how this happens to people.

Somehow he's lucky to get his lost funds claimed. There were more insurance service rendering based ico, but this is the first time I have come across a lost bitcoin fund being claimed. Someone could have breached into his email account which seems to be the possible way to get the account hacked and move the funds to different wallet addresses. From my understanding there will be flaws with the blockchain wallet service, but without some loop hole provided from our end it isn't possible to get into the wallet.

Blockchain.com is a secure web wallet unless careless users maintain their account security, maybe someone uses that carelessness, so someone takes over your wallet and sends all the contents of the wallet, hardware wallet can be the right choice to prevent this happens, everything is in your control when you store bitcoin in the hardware wallet, remember that crime occurs not because of the intentions of the perpetrators but because there is an opportunity to beware.

That is why I'm thinking that he might be phished with fake insurance and redirect to a fake Coinbase then it will ask for his credentials including the pin from 2fa so even the account is protected with 2fa hacker can be still log in and steal funds in instant.

You also have a history asking for a loan as a newbie from here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1341247.msg13816173#msg13816173

That's weird if OP got phished and never received any login notification from blockchain wallet when the hackers access his account. An assumption that the hacker got have access to his 12 recovery seed.  ???

Pretty sure you got phished and the hacker got all the info, the seed,2fa code email and password.Just remember all the website you have been clicking this past few days before you lost your funds, tracing the funds will be useless because no one can give you back the stolen money, only the hacker himself.

I would presume that in your case blockchain.com will not do anything that can refund your lost fund as they can easily argue that it is not their fault and that the problem must be originating in your end. Good thing that you are able to recover some of your losses and hopefully this can be a big lesson to you and to people who are reading this experience of yours.

very famliar /btc.com woe i see my address wallet there too wonder if i have or setup a account with them lost my userid and password maybe my coins are there if i had account there can they auto send there if i set that up?

your "address" is on the "blockchain" (blockchain means the  chain of blocks that nodes store not the site called blockchain.com) so everyone who has a node and has the blockchain sees your address (or more precisely all the transactions), this includes block explorers. you don't have to be surprised or open an account on any site that shows you your address.

blockchain is a secure wallet, the reason users are hacked because they don't have good security. I think you have leaked wallet information and secret keywords to third parties. Or maybe you have clicked on the link that has some malicious pattern .

Even if you made a wallet on btc.com they can't hack or steal coins from your blockchain wallet because the addresses and private keys are always different and it's unlikely for them to generate it. They can only be connected or used from different wallets if the person who stole your account has a copy of your wallet file, seeds or private key.

So sorry about this unfortunate incident. Two of my friend's blockchain wallets were hacked too. One used SMS as 2FA and the other had no 2FA. Well it's possible you have downloaded a phishing application. Well SMS 2FA is not as secured as google authenticator.  Am dumping blockchain .com soon because of the wallet ID they usually send to one's email.

That is, I think it is quite difficult for hackers to hack blockchain.com, they have a multiple security system and even taking private keys is not easy. I think this is really a carelessness of the owner of the wallet, because now there are many scammers who use fake websites, malware to get access rights.
If indeed he did not open a phishing web it could be that his computer was exposed to malware.

I am curious about this because I don't think that home insurance will give back the money, especially if that is related to the cryptocurrency unless he lived in the country which accepts cryptocurrency.

I think something is missing here so we cannot get the details story because as far as I know, blockchain.info was a secure website like the others said.
I wonder if he might be doing wrong and get stolen his money.
Maybe his computer gets malware or virus which can steal his data.
There are so many possibilities for this, and unfortunately, we don't know the right information from him.

Blockchain is a popular company, this case should be resolved so that this issue does not reduce trust in the blockchain wallet.

I wonder how that happened. why can the blockchain account be hacked, is this a mistake from the user or a security system leak. if this system leak hopefully it will be resolved soon, because many people who save funds there, hope this will not happen to other people.
related to stolen funds, it's better to forget it. in my opinion you won't get it again. sorry to say that.

I draw conclusions from the chronology of the hacking of your wallet, and it looks like you have not experienced any errors at all (if you have never entered a pishing site). The point is that if I read and study your story here, the web wallet is indeed not feasible to store bitcoin. Then why is it still maintained and why is it still being used? If all the security methods don't work properly. This is a very fatal mistake. And it's very sad and disappointing. Thank you for the experience you have shared, so we all become aware and more careful.

Since your account is secured and all measures are activated then you might had visited a phishing website which you have logged in your account then they got into and transfer your funds to their account. Luckily you we're able to recover some of your funds thru the insurance, next time double check the URL you are visiting because phishing sites are visible out there.

Well, this is fake obviously. There is not a single insurance company would cover a blockchain address. I mean where can they know the other address you send isn't one of yours. They would ask for proof which you can't deliver. Even exchanges having a hard time to find insurance and you are saying that you had an insurance policy which covers your blockhain.com address.

The Blockchain.info and Blockchain.com domains are creating some confusion with people, even if you get redirected to the same site.  ::) It makes it easier for people to look at other Phishing domains that looks close to the actual domain and to be redirected to the wrong site.

How do you browse to the wallet provider? People use search engines to navigate to their wallet providers and then they get re-directed to the wrong sites, because hackers manipulate the results that these search engines provide to the users.  :P

This is very bad mate, but hey seriously you should be careful on with the websites you use. we all know web wallets are not pretty safe but that's what most of us use most of the time and the best thing to do is to bookmark such original websites so that you don't ever fall into their traps. Once again, sorry for your loss but i don't think it's the fault of blockchain i think you have been phished.

Address ...quksc7l is what you call a change address which as the name states, is where the change goes. If you spent $5 to buy something worth $1, you have a change of $4 right?

What basically happened is the transaction used an output of 0.20101917BTC (qsrl8e4) to send you 0.15591600BTC (...K4vbcDs) + fees included. The remainder 0.04507206BTC then goes to ....quksc7l which is sender's change address.

This is actually my first time of hearing some one make such claims against blockchain. com wallet. Anyways it's good you've contacted their support. If it's indeed true, they'll do something about but be careful that you didn't use a fake wallet else you may have been scammed and moreover, don't use that wallet anymore. You need to change it.

That is not so good experienced. Before making transactions, secure the site that you are using because there are lot that you cannot trust and really give you good service. Be careful where you gonna send money  because there is no use to call for the support because they do not wanna help.

The safety of your wallet and your Bitcoin solely depends on you the owner. There are a lot of scammers out on the internet ready to take advantage of people who's wallet security is bad and for people who are careless in terms of the safety of their wallet. People should be always careful whenever you are on the internet because you can easily lose your asset.

Transaction Confirmed

Address ...quksc7l is what you call a change address which as the name states, is where the change goes. If you spent $5 to buy something worth $1, you have a change of $4 right?

What basically happened is the transaction used an output of 0.20101917BTC (qsrl8e4) to send you 0.15591600BTC (...K4vbcDs) + fees included. The remainder 0.04507206BTC then goes to ....quksc7l which is sender's change address.

Thank you. This answer actually helps me a lot because I was struggling to understand how transactions work and why larger values were used. What determines the output amount though? What you saying about the change address is helpful. I should probably know these things by now but yeah I guess you can't remember everything.

What determines the output amount though?

Whenever someone sends you X amount of bitcoin, that exact amount becomes a single UTXO which stands for Unspent Transaction Output-- coins that are yet to be spent

So suppose address ABC receives bitcoin every week,

week 1 - .01
week 2 - .02
week 3 - .001
week 4 - .005

after week 4, it now has a total of .036BTC which is composed of 4 UTXOs.

For someone who has lost $50 000 you are holding up very good, most people would give up after such an event. I hope you learn something from this mistake, and that you will change your crypto habits in a way that you will stop using any online services for storing such large amounts of money. Any desktop wallet is better choice then any online wallet, but if you have any plans to invest big money in bitcoin, think about investing in hardware wallet or to make any type of cold wallet where you'll ensure the highest possible safety for your coins.

Reliance on others to protect your crypto is not something you should do, if you are not in control of private keys, your money is not just yours.

Scammers will always be around, don't fall for it. If you keep getting scammed left and right, the issue lies within you.

Is there no notification that appears in your email, when someone tries to login. To anticipate every time you log in, it's better to clean cookies, and don't try carelessly websites to avoid virus hackers.

Be sure your wallet is not in phishing sites because definitely, it has something to do with your personal data and keys. Nowadays, we should secure ourselves in any kinds of scam or hack. We need to install also devices that can protect our keys. I think this will become a lesson for OP and us. Stay away from phishing sites.

If you are using different laptop or PC it might possible to be a victim of this. It gonna be a lesson and learn for him, in fact, a lot of new comers have that bad experience before they realize that they have been scam and losing their funds in just a minute. This is how important we need to have our own PC, it is a security of our side cause crypto investment is not a joke, it involves money.

If you have been hacked, there is no way that they will give it back to you. I guess you have been phished and the hackers took your credentials so they could steal your assets. I never leave big amount in online wallets. I bought a hard wallet so i could keep safe of my assets. Hard wallets might be costly but it is worth it.

it looks like you got hacked in your PC or laptop browser, when you visit blockchain.com the hacker immediately moves you to his SCAM site and immediately gets your private key and even your password. there are many ways hackers can make profits. i think you can use hardware wallet from now on because it'll be safer
