Title: Please help newbie to go to market in the UK
Post by: Indyygo on June 09, 2019, 01:11:39 PM
Hello, I am new here, I was investigating but I do not know where to write exactly my question. Please move it if I made it wrong.
My question: I want to buy crypto from the UK, first I need to change GBP , what is the place where you can trust and that does not share to many info to other countries etc?
Is it for example is pay.circle.com good? I do not know where to start to not to loose my money, Thank you. What is the best and the most popular where you can for example make a transfer legally from the UK bank?

Thank you for your help. I mean BTC Exchange , and based in the UK?

I am not from UK, but based on what can be found on the internet Coinbase (https://www.coinbase.com/places/united-kingdom) would be a pretty good choice for you as a beginner. You can deposit from your UK bank account, no need to exchange GBP for $, but you can also use your credit / debit card.

There are some other exchanges, you can search for them by using key words "buy bitcoins in UK", but Coinbase is one of the most trusted exchanges, you should not have any problem with them.

But Coinbase is not a company regietster in the UK.

1. What about uphold com.  any experience?

2. Can you do a bank transfer from the UK account with no other surprises  to the Coinbase?

And maybe you know a UK based crypto forum?

Yes, you can buy bitcoin from the United Kingdon through Coinbase: https://www.coinbase.com/places/united-kingdom

While Coinbase arguably overcharges for buying and selling cryptos, it is reputable and has a user-friendly platform.

Great advise! I'm not from UK but I would also advise you to use Coinbase. It's the easiest way for you to manage your funds and assets. It's safe and easy to use so it will be a good choice for you. I have been using Coinbase and I have great experiences with my transactions.

Coinbase isn't the only option. There are other places like Coinfloor, Binance Jersay, Cex.io, an Wirex. It depends on how do you want to purchase.
If you want to use a card you can check Binance or Cex.io and the others if you want to use a bank transfer. They deal directly with GBP so you don't have to convert fiats

Past posts already gave you pretty nice answers about what to do in your particular situation.

I must say that you are really lucky of being located not only in a developed country but also in Europe. The amount of exchanges that are happy to offer services there is big so you can be relaxed and do things in an easy way as long as the exchange itself is having pretty good security now.

Don't go with the small ones because of two main reasons:

First: There is a really high possibility that some or most are scam.

Second: They probably don't have that much money to invest into security while starting.

What about cex.io.  Is it safe? I need to do a bank transfer from the UK bank. Is it legal and will it work? Is there less charges there?

Cex.io will have the same problem as most other UK based services, their banking will be somewhere else in Europe which means waiting several days.

Coinbase is the only major service with faster payments which means depositing in a couple of hours instead.

If you choose P2P instead of an exchange you'll be able to use faster payments as it's between individuals. Back in the day I preferred https://bittylicious.com for P2P stuff but premiums over the market price can get excessive sometimes. Other times it can match exchange prices.

I have a Lloyds account and I've sent to Coinbase without any trouble. It was all of £10.

Read the article. It's about credit cards and most other banks have done the same. Transfers are fine. I can't remember what I put in the name field but I also don't remember having any trouble with that.

Coinbase were banking with Barclays but their faster payments seem to on hold for now to Coinbase Pro at least.

Coinbase is also the best choice for me. I have a friend based in UK and he has been using it for months without any hassle. Transactions were done smoothly. In our country, we're able to transfer funds from our local wallets to banks. Just try the given advises above and choose which will work fine for you.

Thank you for your help again
I have XXXGBP on the Coinbase.
I have decided to buy a few assets like EOS, XLM

I have bought some Satoshi on Coinbase.

NOW Coinbase says it has SLM and EOS but how can I buy them? There is no way to buy - when I choose Buy the only availabe are BTC , BCH, ETH, ETC and LTC.
How should I act or maybe I should buy Ethereum for the rest of my money and go to Binance and choose those I want there?

I want also to buy other that are only on Binance.

Thank you

Yeah Coinbase works pretty nice for Europe, we have yet to see how would that platform for the U.S. work.

I think that i saw this question before, it's pretty simple to do in those developed countries. For everything else localbitcoins do wonders.

I'm not 100% sure but you can transfer your coins/money from Coinbase to Coinbase Pro, then buy the EOS/Xlm coins and then re-transfer it to your Coinbase account. But if your original plan is to buy some other coins on Binance, better to transfer there and buy directly from Binance without going by Coinbase Pro

I need your help please. I CANNOT send even to Coinbase Pro, although system shows on Coinbase I have ETH and BTC I am not able to send it out.
When I click send it asks me to enter recipient ETH address but at the same town down there there is "Available to send 0 ETH"
How long is it to wait to unblock this? Is it normal? When I was buying Bitcoin it said will be available on 6/23/2019?

The most secure (https://coindeal.com/security) exchanger I know is coindeal. It's not from GB, but it has a Swiss FQF license, which is pretty rare these days.

CoinDeal is doing great. Their approach recently has been a huge superiority, I mean the issue with Bitmarket and their quick answer with the details about the brand and their security

well, as long as you have a credit or debit card with a visa or mastercard logo then you can buy bitcoin from anywhere. Coinbase is one of the exchanges that accepts bitcoin purchases through credit / debit cards, yes not only coinbase but there are many. And you don't need to change USD into GBP to trade because the system will automatically change it.

maybe this could be a reference: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2949612-payment-methods-for-uk-customers
