For the past few years I've organised betting pools for the English Premier League (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4479837.0) along with the Champions League (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4919683.msg44289685#msg44289685) and World Cup (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4130568.msg38157956#msg38157956) and now I'm starting one for the upcoming Champions League.

We will be using the www.superbru.com website again for both tournaments where you get 3 points for predicting an exact score, 1 point for a correct outcome (win/lose/draw) and 1.5 for a close prediction with correct outcome.

The top five winners will all receive payouts along with 5 consolation prizes for the top five people who get the highest score from a weekly round so even if it becomes clear that you are unlikely to win a top five place you are always still in with a chance to win a consolation prize. Here are the prize examples from last season:



The prizes for this pool will be formatted in a similar way but the final totals will obviously all depend on how many users play. I'd like to even extend the number of prize places to maybe 10 but this depends on how many users sign up as I don't want to dilute the main prizes by much. The price to play will be around £25 in bitcoin for each tournament but the money will not be collected until a week or two before the start of the Champions League on the 17th September 2019.

Welcome to the club (again) hahay, it’s going to be a really tough one this season I think. Lots of people joining already & still over a month before the season starts :)

As already answered I'll probably start collecting in money a week or two before the tournaments start. Premier League starts in August and the Champions League the month after.

Bump. Come on guys. 30 players signed up last season and we only have 18 for the Premier League so far. The more that play the bigger the prizes.

It's free to sign up and you can put the scores in upfront for the entire season if you wish and you can always change them right up until kick off providing you don't 'lock' your picks.

Each. I will probably lower the amount in btc because it's practically doubled since I opened this thread but it'll be around £25-30 in bitcoin. Depends if everyone else is ok with 0.005.

Not sure what you mean but once everyone's paid I'll send a link out to join our specific pool then you can see the league table and everyone else that is playing but it won't be until a week or so before the start of the season most likely.

You can't open a pool for Serie A at this moment. Do you know when it starts? They usually start putting the leagues about a month before start. I don't remember if they had Serie A last year but if they are hosting Scotish Prem so I am guessing Serie A should be available sooner or later.

They do host almost everything. Serie A will be available before the season starts. @big_daddy just recheck one week before the season starts.

As I remember they had Serie A last season. There was Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Championship, Scottish Premiership and some other leagues too.
Good to see list of participants filling up. There is still enough time to join, so I'm sure that we will see some more players, maybe even more than last season. Maybe I will drop PM to some users who played last year to invite them again.

They have all the big leagues plus a lot of the smaller ones. It's a pretty good site really. Does everything you need and I'm glad I don't have to add up all the scores manually haha.

A little less than a month now before the Prem League starts so let everyone know who might be interested. The more people that join the bigger the prizes. Speaking to a couple of people about sponsoring it as well so that will boost up the prize pot.

22 users signed up so far so that makes the pot £550 plus whatever we get from sponsorship (best offer I had so far is £200). Lets try get at least 30 layers to sign up like there was last year. Tell everyone you know who might be interested. I know there's a lot of tipsters here and people who can talk about football all day long so they might as well put there money where their mouth is. Either way it's good fun and very cheap for an entire season of gambling which isn't going to break the bank.

I was going to join the CL pool too but we (Liverpool) won the damn thing last season & I had the time of my life following the team so I don’t want to jinx it. Who knows 3 finals in a row?

Signing up for the Champions League, I can pay in advance. I did quite well for EPL in the beginning but it's not really my league and maybe if I support Barca more they can finally win CL. Respect to Liverpool but we want to catch up to Real too!

23 users now signed up to the Premier League Pool. Lets try get it to at least 30 people like it was last year. I honestly thought we'd get a lot more interest. A few users told me that they'd for sure play the next season and a couple of others told me that they had friends who wanted to play as well. Ask anyone you know who is interested in football or football betting as you get an entire season of betting fun for around £25 which isn't going to break the bank. Hopefully the price of BTC will rise during the season and stops a couple of days before the next halving so we could end up with an expanding pot like the first pool (though obviously the opposite is also true  ;D).

I also thought we would break the 30 participants line very easily but that assumption was based on most/all previous participants joining again. I know there are some new players, I brought 2 new faces to our pool and probably someone else brought some new players as well. That means quite a lot of previous participants didn't join. It could be some of them didn't found this thread.

Have you tried sending PMs to previous participants and letting them know about this thread? I remember there was some talk about that previously. If you don't have a ready list of them (or time) I can compile it for you since I am on holiday and have some free time at the moment.  

Yeah, I PMd everyone. Had a couple of responses but pretty much just from people who said they weren't interested unfortunately. I'm sure there's lots of other people who would play if they just know about it as I know there's a lot of football fans here and I'm sure there's a lot who gamble on it. £25 is nothing really and a football better will probably spend that in one week. Anyone on a sig campaign could probably earn that with a handful of posts and you can make your money back by talking about the pool throughout the season and there's also the chance to win a decent sized prize. Think the 1st place prize was around £1k last year with 30 people but we also had the £500 sponsorship from cloudbet. Had an offer for around £200 this year so that's not too bad.

Keep spreading the word. I'm sure some of you guys have friends that would be interested.

Yeah, last year we had 30 participants, but as remember, quite many of them stopped playing after some time, so, probably they aren't interested to join this year. At the end of the season we had only less than 20 active players.
But from what I see, there are lot of people in gambling discussion board who have good knowledge in football and might be interested to join. I'm sure that we still can get 30 participants.

This should not be much. If we can manage to get 30 people then the pot will have £750 and from the sponsor £200 (If I am not mistaken). This means we will have a pot of total £950. Now this is a lot of money. We are talking about 0.1132BTC at the current rate.

Convert this to $ and it's $1183.70

I personally would not mind to pay 0.005BTC for the entry fee. Come on guys!

Same, but it's whether everybody else will. 0.005 is £40.08 as of right now so it's not much more but the price is BTC is all over the place now. I'll see where were at in a couple of weeks from now but I'm really hoping we can get 30 users. Newcomers seem to be pretty dead right now though. I know there'll be some people who want to join when it starts as well which is annoying. If we know how many people are playing at least I can work out the prizes in advance which may entice a few new users. A 1k prize pot is nice though and hopefully we'll see a rally sometime next year leading up to the halving.

After we pay entry fee, we will get a link to join the pool. That means a week before the PL starts probably, since our pool organizer/captain said he intents to start collecting money around that time.

If you made Superbru account you can already chose some results and they will be entered when you join the pool. Just be careful not to lock them, there could be new injuries/transfers before league start.

So i am guessing nobody got more than 7 correct scores last season? Don't feel like googling conversion rate for those currencies I know nothing about. But seeing that made me realize they pay the prizes to people all over the world. There is lot of similar sites that send awards only to GB or USA depending where they are based.

I'll be modest and gun for 6 correct scores. Jersey would be nice enough reward. I really don't know what would be my choice. Probably LFC or maybe some smaller club with nice away jersey. It is a bonus if they have a crypto related sponsor, I am seeing more and more of that.  

I think someone got six correct results last season. I would be surprised if anyone got higher than that but there's plenty of times I've been only one goal away from many more correct scores so it's not impossible but the odds are heavily stacked against you. It's probably similar odds to winning the lottery for the 8,9,10 results.

I usually do not lock a pick. Sometimes it turns out to be opposite that you think. So, an unlocked pick becomes useful then.

Man! getting a correct score is really hard. I rarely get it LOL

By looking at the image above it's assumable that one guy got 7 correct score and that's insane! Imagine someone is very skilled to pick correct scores and they are a regular gambler - this guys will surely make a lot of money.

Locking a pick is pointless really other than you getting to see what others have submitted, but kinda futile as you obviously can't change your picks then anyway.


If you're one of the winners from these pools you should probably start betting, but you'd still probably be net negative if you were betting just on correct scores as there's all the times you get them wrong. I rarely bet on correct scores but just outcomes and I've always been in profit at the end of the season so far. As I've said before, I usually just stick to three-folds and often go for Skybet's enhanced offers that they do.

There's also this bonus from superbru that I'll put into the pot if we get it:


We were only a few players short for it last season, but the trouble is we'll likely be even further behind now as obviously it has to be new players.

I am no where near to guess a right correct score. Luckily I get one or two. Recent time in Copa America, I got one correct score and that was a 0 - 0 draw. The story behind was - the teams were playing their worse in earlier matches and I was not doing well in my earlier picks. Out of frustration I picked that 0 - 0 draw and guess what! It was indeed the final result LOL. So, honestly speaking there were no expertise from me on that pick.

My gambling is always frustrating too. My start is always good in any league and then I think I start to get greedy and eventual before the season ends I find myself lost more money than I won. Sometimes I end up losing so much that in important matches (Big matches) I restrict myself from betting. But in the last season (Both in EPL and CL) Liverpool never disappointed me 🙂

I hope this year Liverpool get the taste of the EPL season title.

No way we are getting that. We will have maybe 10 new recruits all together and I highly doubt there will be more than one or two from UK. I am hoping you will get some more sponsorship offers. 200 is not bad but maybe some better offer comes closer to the deadline.

Regarding locking the picks. If you are strong minded individual with objectively oriented mind than by all means leave the picks unlocked and tamper with them until last minute. At that point we have maximum info available and can make best decisions.

However, I have often found that if I change picks minutes before match because of some news or feeling I usually end up with less points than what I would get if I just left my original pick stand. That is why started contemplating locking my picks. Added bonus is that I can see other people picks and if there is some individual whose predictions I value I could use his prediction and put some money on that result.

Raise their offer to cash + bonus/freebets on the site. That way you'd bring them traffic and have more perks for our pool.

I just signed up to the Sportsbook Review forums to see if there's any interest there as they have a dedicated bitcoin betting sub. Don't know if any of you guys have an account there but maybe you could stop by and give a vouch. 


Will be a good game to watch and could be indicative of who could win the season. Hopefully they don't put weakened teams out. 

Does LFC has any chance in this one since they are playing without their front 3 (Mane, Salah, Firmihno) while City is also missing strikers (Aguero & Jesus) but has much more quality attacking options to replace them? Also City looked much better in friendlies, at least what I was able to see. I'll check the odds and if they give odds of more than 2 for City win probably take that.

Sure that's fine, or if you just wanted to put it into the pot as a donation to make the prizes bigger that would be fine as well. People are pretty cheap if they want to play but don't want to pay the £25 to join. I'm sure bitcoin will rise leading up to the halving next year so hopefully the pot continues to grow.

Tournament starts on 17 September 2019 so a little over a month to get some more players. The fee will again be about £25 in bitcoin to play and money wont be collected until a week or two before it starts.

21 players is not bad, if I'm not mistaken last season we had 20 players only. There is more than month left, so I hope that some more people will sign up. It would be nice to get at least 25 players.

Very nice ticket. I was thinking of playing over 2.5 goals and both to score on those 2 games for lower stake, but if I get odds like you mentioned I will also go for more secure over 1.5 for high stake.

You don't have to pay instantly. You can pay later in the week or even after the tournament starts. Napoli Liverpool 2:0 - wow  ???

Chelsea Valencia 0:1 - good job for Valencia, Chelsea will not pass this group stage

Liverpool played one of the worst games last season in Naples as well, no real surprise for me. A bad performance but the group is easy so no worries there. Napoli is a really good team.

I guess I will never learn to stop betting on goals in Liverpool vs Napoli games. Both are high scoring teams and I expect goal fest every time they meet and all three recent games were under 2.5 goals and with only one team scoring. I believe I lost money on all three games and will probably lose one more time when they meet again :)

There were many chances, but the strikers just weren't in the mood. It would have ended 0-0 without that really soft penalty that in my opinion should not have been given.

Spurs so lucky, its crazy... 0:2 in front now with two shots, including one penalty... jesus christ
