Title: Mining and playing games Post by: sereze on June 19, 2019, 02:48:31 PM I have a flatmate, he likes to play LOL, we share the same router/internet. When I run the rig ( Nicehash ) his ping goes over 100 ( the game is not playeble ) . When I stop the rig, he can play. The issue is not about bandwith as I can watch youtube videos when he play without a problem. What can casue this and how can I solve?

This would maybe be the issue if they both wanted to watch movies on 4K and it started to get choppy for both of them. However mining uses almost no bandwidth. There are 2 causes for this. First one is that its a crappy router and when there is more load on the router, the CPU inside the router can't keep up and it ends up slowing down the latency rates. Second issue is that the LOL player is using Wifi and when the OP is mining there might be some interference from the GPUs, depending on how many he has in his room. Its most likely one of these issues. I would just tell the LOL player to use an ethernet connection and see if the issue goes away, if it doesn't then get a better router. Title: Re: Mining and playing games Post by: swogerino on June 20, 2019, 12:14:25 PM Upgrade to a better router in which you can easily implement QoS-Quality of Service.This configuration will make gaming traffic a priority and your friend will continue to play games easily while you can do anything with the rest of the bandwidth,watch youtube or run Nicehash.
