What is Arrow?

Put simply, Arrow is truly private digital cash.

Arrow represents a major step forward for privacy-focused cryptocurrencies. It significantly expands and delivers upon Zcash’s promise of privacy, making transactional privacy mandatory, while also implementing necessary upgrades to the Zcash blockchain and codebase.

Arrow is faster, lighter, more private, and easier to use than Bitcoin or Zcash. • Arrow uses a proof-of-work (PoW) mining algorithm (Equihash Heavy (192,7) algorithm).
• The total supply of $ARW is 210,000,000, 10 times the supply of Bitcoin and of Zcash.
• Block Time - 45 seconds, 3.33 times faster than Zcash (Zcash’s block times are approximately 2.5 minutes each)
• Arrow’s block reward (years 0-8):

that's great, nice to see project announced in advance and with no premine. The only concern how are you going to fund any exchange listing.
Another  concern is a team. Are  you solo developer or do you have a team of supporters? Single person, even a good one, may simply have not enough time to handle everything

This is interesting, I like that there is no premine and lower founders reward.  I would like to add this to our mining pool (bitpoolmining.com (http://bitpoolmining.com)).  Is there a testnet up already?

The team has decided to stay anonymous for the moment. There are a number of individuals working on the project currently, and as Arrow is open source, anyone can contribute via GitHub.

I'm in the final stages of wrapping up the testnet development. We plan on releasing the testnet & a nomp-based mining pool setup in docker before mainnet launch to allow pool operators to get everything set up. Stay tuned for a testnet release date.

Interesting but what is the plan to offer protection against 51% attacks? It seems too vulnerable to double spending. PirateChain (https://pirate.black/) is similarly a fully shielded blockchain but it added Komodo's dPoW (https://komodoplatform.com/security-delayed-proof-of-work-dpow/) protection for this reason.

Might I suggest forking Pirate ($ARRR) instead?

They solved some problems that zcash has been rather sluggish in addressing.

nice to see a project, which starts with setting testnet for a while. Many young coin rush into mainnet era without fully tested and then meet all kind of problems.  Here I see decent activity in a github in advance.

No, testnet and mainnet are two separate chains and the coins can't be sent from test to main.  This is the same as with most/all coins.

Gui Windows wallet is working fine. Find it on their Github. Took me less than 10 minutes to add peers (found in the #support of their discord), grab an address, backup the .dat and get mining up and running with lolminer when I woke up. Inb4 first 1k blocks. Looks like a good project, hashrate:applied.

it would have been not too bad if they had added this part in their documentation.
i started mining (to a new address obviously my own) but as soon as i realised this i stopped mining.

All it does is proves the lack if integrity of the developers who have copy/pasted this zcash clone.

By the way, to save the address in the address book, you need to designate it. As far as I understand.
otherwise, after closing the wallet, new addresses disappear in an unknown direction...

Have you checked before releasing the wallet? Most developers do. Testing and retesting before giving their wallet to the public. So this kind of issue will not even be there. Good luck in getting your miners for this coin.

I can only presume that it was a deliberate inclusion. Between that and the backlash I have had from the advocates of this project for pointing it out (including bringing third parties whom i work with into the debate). I must say it shines a bright beacon of a money grab by those involved in it.

I really doubt it was intentional.

The wallet had only received about 150 ARW before it was removed.

I personally have mined that amount in just around 30 hours of mining with an electricity cost of about $3 lol.  So I really don't think it's as big of a deal as you're making it.  Now if the wallet had 10 Million Arrow in it, I might agree with you.

But that's just my two arrows.

I am not an expert or anything but the new version now allows you to Export your Private Keys without an error. It worked for me using Quiver v0.1.4 on Win 10 PC.

Personally I Gminer and I think most do, but at least mining BEAM NBMiner was a little faster, but I am not sure if NBMiner supports 192,7 Algo so I am using Gminer with nice results mining Arrow. Good Luck!

I like the concept and love privacy coins. BUT your wallet is giving me fits ... and that makes me wonder about your other code. Might be wrong
and hope that i am but i've had to mess with the wallet all day. all day. keeps freezing or stalling ... so i look up how to deal with that. i've rescanned
deleted all except wallet.dat ... and now waiting for it to rescan. crossing fingers but just this is the kind of thing that shouldn't still be a problem in this

Strange because I've never had a wallet issue.  Just slow.  But then I leave it to sync for a few hours.

How many developers do you have in your team? I cannot see anything about your team in the whitepaper. It is one thing to copy Zcash, but the question is if you will be able to consistently and sustainably develop and enhance the coin. Or will the approach be to see what Zcash brings out and then copy the code in?

after the last few weeks it has been all hands on development regarding the wallet for now.

A GUI for Linux is being built and much needed stability for Windows/Mac is being worked on along with a few additional features.
The Mac wallet has been without a console up to this point. That is being developed for troubleshooting purposes.
Myself and the other Mods had a brief meeting with the founder mentioned above on Tuesday where every issue you all have been encountering was passed onto the dev team for review.
The next release should really stand out compared to last releases regarding user ability and functionality. No more wallets getting stuck at blocks, no more closing the wallet to remove folders and having to sync the chain, no more constant need for rescanning or reindexing, etc.
Yes, exchanges are being worked on but no info can be released on a timeframe.

The scheduled Arrow network upgrade occurred overnight and is now complete. 

The block reward has been reduced from 70 to 55 ARW per block to get back on schedule and the transactional limit has been increased to 250kb, thereby increasing transactional throughput.

Please make sure your wallet is up to date.

1. Close wallet (make sure it's closed)
2. Delete peers.dat
3. Delete old addnodes and update the addnode to:

Been some bumps but its starting to come together!

Interesting, just now reading up on this.  A couple of concerns though:

1) The mining schedule (to me) is basically acting like a premine even though there isn't technically one.  These types of block reward schedules feels scammy compared to a more smooth curve rather than a drastic difference between mining in the first four years vs the rest of the chain from then on out.
2) Supply numbers: along with the reward issues, I'm not sure increasing the amount x10 will do anything better in terms of chain security.  Not having a tail emission plus having a supply total of 210,000,000 only ensures the few people who know about Arrow from the first four years have an unfair advantage.
3) Still having to trust the people behind the genesis block of Z-cash and Co.

4) (not really a con but more of a question) Not ASIC resistant?

Other than that I really like the idea of a zk-snarks crypto that enforces mandatory shield transactions.

Does this exchange have good trading volume? I don't think many traders are familiar with this one. Anyway, they can still list this coin in another more popular exchange as long as they are into the development of this coin. Listing it to another one without progress on their development side will only be futile.

Has anyone else used Safe.Trade to buy Arrow? I bought a few hundred of them yesterday and tried withdrawing them and they're still sitting there showing as "locked." I do have 2fa turned on which they require for withdrawals.
Hopefully this is just some kind of manual withdrawal approval process like they use on some exchanges like Freiexchange I think.

I bought some other coins on safe.trade.
they have kind of withdraw-limit.
if your withdraw is above that limit it gets locked and you have to send them a message -- I did it via discord.
they have very fast and very good support. its just kind of safety-feature.

We aren't aware of any merchants currently accepting Arrow. Currently Arrow is only listed on SafeTrade with relatively little liquidity available on the exchange, and we understand that this may not be ideal for merchants. That being said, we're happy to work closely together with any merchants who would like to be the first to start accepting ARW (talk to us on Discord), and the Arrow community would be excited to rally behind any acceptance of the coin.

I think the best way to get those merchants on board is to reach out to them.
Because most of these merchants don't even know that your project or coin exists.
And since it is only listed in SafeTrade, which by the way, not many traders are familiar of.
So the strategy is the other way around, you will be the one going after them and not them, going to your discord (as example).
You can start around your local area, a coffee shop or a gift shop or a local supermarket.
Because if you will not do your part, I don't think ARW will be used as payment method as one of your main intentions.

Even top coins struggle to get merchants on board.  So that will not happen overtime.
We will need more exchanges that can implement ARW, which wont be easy.
Safe.trade have been excellent and very helpful.  I like them a lot and I hope the best for that exchange.  They really a good team.

Arrow is still newish, so all in due time.  Seems wallet is now much better and stable.
So I believe good things coming Arrow's way. 
Hopefully we will see some announcements this quarter still.
If not, its also fine....  get some more ARW every now and then to help my stash get heavier

Luxgate is coming soon.  But there could be others I guess.
I think they have tried with TradeOgre, but not easy to list there

I looked for a way to withdraw from the safetrade and found out that it exists only theoretically, practically conclusion is so expensive that it makes no sense to work with this exchange! I thought that i could transfer in rvn or zec... but cost of every coin that trades in another exchanges is 25-300% higher...
PS Without real exchange this coin useless!
