It starts...

FourOhFour pays out 404 FOF per block  ...usually...  we should probably mention: sometimes, blocks don't pay anything at all.  It seems that when we went to code this coin, we ran into "anomalies" that caused a block's coins to go into the nether.  We don't know where they end up, but we can definitely say that about 14.04% of the time, a block comes up empty.

What's more strange is that these missing coins zap back into existence at random times.  Occasionally, some of these blocks will double up, leaving the recipient with 808 FOF once in a blue moon.  These things happen when you use dark magic to build compile your source.

We expect this trend to continue, and become more unstable over time.  The collective power of the coin will thrash, causing payouts to become more and more rare, and, in our estimates, there will be no payouts at all after ten years.  We've compiled a table of expected stability loss, which you can find here (http://fourohfourcoin.com/subsidies).

I'm gonna be mining on launch!

I will provide the blockchain explorer. Please provide me with the wallet source so I can build it and set it up ahead of launch, unless you want me to do it on launch day. I would prefer to do it earlier so that everyone can see the premine, though. Hit me up over PMs in the forum, or in #cganomaly on freenode IRC if you want to chat. Hey all!

We're alive and kicking.  Launch will be at 04:04 GMT  (that's 12:04am EDT, or 11:04pm CDT).

I'll be updating the bounty board in a few minutes - thanks to everyone who is helping to contribute!  We'll be launching the source code for everyone all at once, that way all pools, users, etc have a fair start.

Think I'm going to pass on this one. Scrypt seems to be a thing of the past when it comes to algos since there are so many. The coin needs to have some merit other than being a clone.

Working with the pool owners now!  I have a few I need to add to the list.  Expect the following in the next ~15 minutes (and I will provide an update):

looking at checkpoints.cpp
the pool (and everyone else) is on the wrong fork ?
only when commenting out the checkpoints i get blocks downloaded..

the pool is not on a fork. i just cashed out and got my coin in my wallet within 1 minute

Well derp.  That was a bug that we relaunched from, and shouldn't have been made public.  It seems that didn't make its way into the git repository though.

I've pushed the update to git.  If you do a git pull - you should be good.  Sorry about that.

config didn't help either.

You should publicly post the bounty payment transactions when you get a chance to push them out. More transparency = better

Don't worry - you can send coins from a pool to your wallet address without your wallet actually online or synced.
Because the coins are *not* stored in your wallet, they are only present in the *block chain*. Your wallet is just a
window (User Interface) into the block chain, showing the coins associated with your addresses. The only important
piece of info that your wallet has are the addresses associated with the transfer and the addresses are derived from
the "private key". The private key is the important thing that gives you access to your coins, so never publish or share
a private key, because you are then giving away the access to the coins.
As long as you have the wallet installed and configured an address from the wallet in the pool for payout, you can
tell the pool to pay out and when you sync your wallet later (can be months later) you will see your coins sitting
in the block chain.

I just now deleted everything from my AppData/Roaming/fourohfourcoin directory *except* Wallet.dat and
fourohfourcoin.conf

I restarted the 404 Qt wallet on windows 7 and it is already done sync'ing halfway again. Only 20 hours to go.
Should be done in a few more minutes.
I am guessing that either your conf file is not correct or your wallet cannot actually reach the internet.
If you click on the Wallet's help tab => Debug window and on the Information tab you click the Open button
under "Debug Log File", what do you see in the log? That might help to trouble-shoot...
The Information page itself shows me that I now have 8 connections to the network and 5500 blocks received (9 hours to go).

I think this coin needs either a major push by the developer to get it on exchanges and bring the hashrate back up, a relaunch with a committed developer, or a quick death. I'll run the block explorer for a little while longer, but if the dev doesn't show up in the thread soon, I'm going to assume the coin is dead.

Yeah wallet doesn't even sync anymore. I'm just gonna move these coins to a paper wallet and file them with my dead coins XD

Yes. The developer has dropped off the face of the earth completely, and it is not on any exchanges at all. I don't see any new blocks since April 21. Truly dead.
