Title: bittrex account disabled
Post by: natsaqib on June 21, 2019, 09:42:04 PM
Hi

I am a british citizen and bittrex has disabled my account. i made my account on bittrex on 11th june to take part in the stp network ieo, I passed my kyc, tried participating in the ieo, failed then logged out. later i logged in back to make trades, i see that my account is disabled.

I sent them a support ticket and after 8 days (19th june) got a reply from a specialist, asking this

''Transaction(s):
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To facilitate our review, please provide the following information:
- The source of the funds for the above transaction(s), i.e. how and where they were acquired or purchased
- Relevant documentation which provides details as to the purpose and party who sent you these funds''

The above transaction of funds was sent to bittrex to take part in the ieo, anyhow i replied back within 20 minutes, providing everything that included source of funds in detail, and when i say in detail it means from intial deposit of fiat money till the deposit of funds in bittrex, its been 2 days and have got no reply and i am getting frustrated as f**k right now and have had enough. It's all legit and everything.

Can someone guide me? If i ask them to close my account, would they release my funds??

There are few reasons that may disable your account below.

  • You requested that your account get disabled
  • We suspected your account was hacked and disabled it for you
  • You attempted to verify your account with an identification document that has already been used
  • Your account was involved in irregular trading activity
  • You violated the Bittrex terms of service
Source: https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001352132-Why-is-my-account-disabled-

Or maybe you violate their terms and condition (https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001411486)

Let me ask if you have an account created before and make a new account last June?

Because they have a policy about multiple accounts and it's not allowed to make multiple accounts. Source from here https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001262712-Multiple-Account-Policy

If you did make multiple accounts contact them they can fix this issue or follow up to notify them again about your issue.

You cant do more then wait for a reply here. As long as they keep your account disabled closing down or gaining access again would be the same since you can only remove your account once you have access.

No one knows how long it will take.

You don't have to do anything. No choice but to wait.

June 11 you have sent the ticket. June 19 they replied. And now, June 28, still under review so another extension of your waiting period.

What's happening to their customer response quality.

Nobody could help you. Only the exchange can sort your problem. As harizen said, you need to wait.
Meanwhile, you should start considering to look for alternatives especially if they don't accept your proof of funds.

For nearly two years now actually.

I think it's safe to say that Bittrex is dealing with incompetent owners not understanding the line between what's still allowed and what isn't in order to remain compliant and not break any laws themselves. In order to make sure they don't mess up, they disable accounts left and right because of how paranoid they have become.

It's difficult to motivate people to read the TOS, but it really seems that you can no longer avoid doing so in current times. The crypto ecosystem has changed.

I don't agree with this headline but the content makes for a pretty gross read. I think I'll be giving Bittrex a permanent miss from now on.

I wonder if there'll ever be an exchange where the customer experience improves over time. A pipe dream indeed.

As for OP get on Twitter, r/bitcoin and r/cryptocurrency and make some noise. Maybe that'll poke them into action.

LOL, the last reply made me laugh so hard:

This pretty much proves that if you ever fall in trouble with Bittrex support, just go around the social media and post about it. They'll then help you out with full support. That's what OP should do as well.

Ridiculous. ::)

The best way to open their ears on.Making some noise with those channels because services like this do make actions when they do saw that someone do risking up
their reputation once again and in result it would be prioritize to be solved out.About on the medium link you had shared this do really prove out something that as the
day goes by they do gradually become a shitty exchange.

Indeed. I'm pretty sure that wasn't there when I posted it. Noise works. And that's pathetically unprofessional of them to weasel out of it like that.

The requirements that they are asking for is already quite draconian. Exchanges providing source of funds seems to be an increasing trend, which nobody should welcome, given the fact that it can be viewed as an intrusion of privacy, and can be used to hold people's coins hostage, essentially.

You could try to negotiate with them, by closing the account and allowing you to remove the funds, but I doubt it'll happen. If they were willing to do that then they would have simply disabled trading, and nothing else.

But yes, some publicity could help but don't count on it, because this could be an obligation that bittrex legally has to perform from a legal standpoint.

Jeez, they've really not upped their support reply game since the majority of their users jumped ship due to their new KYC requirements for legacy account owners. :-\
