Title: Moderating merited posts.
Post by: Baronets on June 27, 2019, 07:38:41 AM
In the short period that this account has been active, I've managed to make two posts that have been deleted.

One was in reputation, and it was the recording of the association of this account with my Jet Cash account. This post was made to comply with the published community standards for the use of alt accounts.
The other was a short statement about members' reasons for posting in the Bitcoin Talk forum, and it was merited by a well respected Legendary member of the forum.

Have we entered a new era where AI bots are performing the moderation, or have we recruited a Facebook moderator recently? I'd like to see this forum grow and regain its former popularity in the Bitcoin community, please could moderators take a commercial view of the boards, and realise the damage they do when they discourage members by deleting posts that other moderators may consider to be beneficial to the forum. The mining board is useless for "normal" members due to the moderation there, please don't push the whole forum down the same path.

I don't believe the fact that a post does or does not have merit plays a role in the decision to remove a post.

A common, and misunderstood reason for posts to be removed/deleted is the post being off topic. In order for a post to be considered "on topic" it must somehow relate to the Original Post. If the post does not relate to the OP, it is off topic, even if it relates or is a response to another post in the thread, even if the post it is related to is on topic.
