Title: Don't compromise your safety on forked coins.
Post by: fiulpro on June 30, 2019, 03:06:55 PM
Hey everyone, let's just quickly review the main forked coins and their price approximately

Bitcoins gold   28$
Bitcoins diamond 1$
Bitcoins cash 400$

Now if you want to sacrifice your security of your wallet over these coins , let's be honest doing it for Bitcoins cash does make sense , but just don't go around and do it until and unless you do hold a good amount of Bitcoins.

* Never give your private key to anyone *
NEVER
Even if the site is trusted and all and you can change but don't give anyone even 1% chance because trust me once scammed no one will return your money .

It's better to be safe then sorry.

I remember the reminder theymos made before if you want to claim for those forks, you have to transfer first your whole balance to another wallet that you control fully the private keys.

And once it's done, you can now use that old wallet that contains the fork coins with those preferred methods and wallets to claim. And you have no worries that your balance will be gone because it's already on the safer wallet that you just created and transferred your balance.

I agree with sunsilk and even if you don't have a lot of Bitcoins in your wallet as long as you're within the exchange's minimum it's still worth doing because after you've seperated your Bitcoins you've got nothing to lose since those forked coins are free from the start.

just a reminder, transferring to a new receiving address in the same wallet may expose you to the same risk
so you should move your bitcoin to a whole new wallet to split it securely

Yes, that's what I meant I just forgot to mention the whole balance should be transferred to a whole new wallet.

Thanks for that correction though.

Never tried to get those fork coins, except BCH fork as the first successful split (in my opinion) never tried on BSV, except on coins from exchange, since you will follow those instructions above, and I hate transferring my coins to another then abandoning my recovery phrases especially I'm using a hardware wallet. Since I think I will make another seed for that then another backup so on and so fort so I tried to ignore those forks.

Forked coins mentioned above may have security issues but most often its the human factor that commits those errors resulting to security breaches and stolen digital assets. Only by exercising proven security measures can we  minimize those risks but we cannot eradicate them hence the need for continuous improvement on our best security practices to better safeguard our digital assets. Imho.

Its really easy to claim forked coins ,some won't request for your private keys though you just have to go through a simple process but for others that ask for your private keys just send out your coins from the wallet to another wallet then drop the keys ,after youve successfully get your forked coins say good bye to the old wallet that you drop its private keys and never use it again .

I still don't think any of these forks are any good for the long term. Certainly it can be worth claiming some of them, but the price for these is purely speculation, with no real use case to make them big in the future. I've not been convinced by any of the claims so far for why any of these forks will be good.

Yes, it happened a year ago, I think a lot of people even beginners know the risks and profits given are not comparable. Nowadays people are more interested in STO or IEO

Thanks for your information. One thing should be taken into account that reputed and established forked coins do not conduct any bounty campaign. Fork means enhancing the technology of a project. So why popular coin conducts a bounty campaign? Many people have been scammed in the name of etherum, litecoin forked coins. Stay alert.

With security, everything is clear. But, please, explain to me what is the technical need to transfer the private key to someone in the case of a fork? After all, there is no such need, right?

Among all the forked coins of BTC, for me only BCH is living up to expectations, Roger ver is really good with developments.  I saw a coin ETCV claiming to be ETH fork and demanding private key, I've seen similar scam and always warn my fellow crypto enthusiasts nothat's to fall prey.

If they truly want to try it then use disposable wallet to fork your crypto.
But never use your main wallet to fork your crypto.

Doing it even if they have a small or big amount is risky like you said,So doing it with a wallet that hold a good amount of Bitcoin is much more dangerous.

You have said right. I have found some reality with you. currently has many sites harmful . People have done so much harm through this information. Those who are damaged, they can not return their capital. It is actually very sad. All of them want to be cautious.
