Title: Please help me with this stuck tx
Post by: yaduxow on July 03, 2019, 06:03:45 AM
Hi guys 2 days ago someone sent me some btc but he put a tiny fee on the tx and it was never confirmed. it still shows as pending as a deposit on my localbitcoins wallet but the tx in no longer on the blockchain.info website. I managed to find the tx on tradeblock.

I am not sure what to do now as the tx says it was double spent but when I asked the person who sent it to me they say they sont know what happened and that the btc wasn't returned to their wallet if it was dropped from the network.

here is the info I have been able to find on the tx but idk what I am supposed to do to get it to confirm. I have tried adding it to accelerators but they have not worked.

There is also this tx which shows as the same amount of btc but he sent me £2 and then £62 but they both show as the same amunt

if anyone can help me push the or get it to confirm I will pay you a % once I receive it in my wallet

Indeed, it's not confirmed. Actually the transaction doesn't even exist in most block explorers.
From what I understand, I think it was double spent. This means that the guy pretended to send you the money, but then he sent that same money again to himself with bigger fee. Of course, the bigger fee transaction was confirmed and yours got deleted.
From what I see in the transaction history of 1FGJMzcAmN9PiwPSyG2FsYRTBchA8r7XWW, with almost all transactions to himself, I guess that you are not the only one cheated.

Sorry.
Try to discuss with that guy again and ask for your money.

He is lying to you.

If you look at the address is he sending coins from (https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/address/1FGJMzcAmN9PiwPSyG2FsYRTBchA8r7XWW), you can see multiple transactions where he sends coins to his own address. These transactions are for the exact same amounts he is "sending" to other addresses, yours included. The transaction to other addresses all have zero confirmations, while the transactions back to himself have hundreds of confirmations.

He is double spending his coins, so although it looks like there is a transaction coming your way, in reality he just returns in the coins to himself. No one can help you push or confirm that transaction because it has already been superceded by the transaction where he returned the coins to himself.

He is trying to scam you, presumably by trying to get you to pay him for the bitcoin he is "sending" you, even though it will never actually reach you. If you have already sent him money then unfortunately it is lost. If you haven't sent him anything yet, don't, and cut off all contact with this scammer.

In the future, if you are trading via localbitcoins, only trade ON localbitcoins. Don't accept offers from users who want to trade off the platform, as these are almost always trying to scam you, as in this case.

Also in the future, wait for the transactions get confirmed. At least one confirmation is 100% necessary, but 3 is even better.
If the transaction is not confirmed, the coins are not yours.

So it has 100% been double spent and will not be getting confirmed? Thank you for the help guys. I have messaged him waiting to see what he says.

Yes. If you click on the "conflicting transaction" link at the bottom of the two transactions you linked to in your first post, you can see the transactions where he sends the exact same amounts he supposedly "sent" you back to his own address. (https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/tx/917e2442044c28acfe9f9393afffae2b0ed9f355d52aa7fa56efad522fcc5e4e and https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/tx/e604d4df45c6048d173715cefdd141e5a3f024be0b885cf9b020780a55d1e4d5)

As you can see, these both have almost 300 confirmations at time of me posting. He sent them with a higher fee than the ones he "sent" to you, and so these ones were confirmed first. Once they have been confirmed, any conflicting transaction which tries to spend the same coin is invalid, and will never be confirmed.

Okay thanks for the info and help everyone. I will be sure to not complete any tx without atleast 1 confirmation in the future. I only send him 10% of the total so atleast I never lost out too much.
