Title: Is this cloud farm-mining.com website a scam?
Post by: ppenchev on July 03, 2019, 01:14:32 PM
Hi fellows,

I was quite stupid and put some money in this https://farm-mining.com/ website.

As you can imagine they let me to withdraw 2 times tiny amounts and after that requested maintanance fee, which I couldn't find anywhere as a requirement.

After that maintance fee they told me for the machine I've bought(price 0.05BTC) I should wait 2 months, before I'm able to make withdraws.

I'm 99% certain this website is a scam  :(, but I couldn't find it reported anywhere!? I spotted that the money I put in my BTC account created via their website got withdrawn 10 minutes after and redirected to another account.

I know where their money goes, but can I do something at all? How can I be sure they are really doing crypto mining?

Here is the main bitcoin wallet where the money goes - https://bitref.com/355jBnNchwMVghRACJvciQ7ATK6XjeC66b

Thanks in advance and apologies if this is not the most proper section for my post!

Virtually ALL cloudmining operations are scams, mainly Ponzi schemes. Only Bitdeer and Hashnest (both owned by Bitmain) aren't and at best those are better looked as very low yield investments.

Oh, and as this is NOT BTC mining don't be surprised when a mod moves this to where it belongs under Services because cm is a service.

Best you can do here is post on it in the 2 child boards found at the top of Trading Discussions (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=8.0), Scam accusations and Reputation.

You pretty much can't do anything besides learn your lesson from it. Learn to do your research and probably ask around before putting your money anywhere. Unless you probably lost like HUGE amounts of money, whereas you can report them to the authorities to hopefully track them down. I mean, you should've at least read the information on their website. There's so much grammatical errors and bad punctuation marks. That itself should've been a red flag.

Bitcoin is not a moneymaking scheme. Remember that. If we could leave our money on those types of sites and just give us guaranteed free money forever, then heck, even Warren Buffet would be doing it.

How could you find any report when website is just one months old, you had to check domain's whois at least, it's data of when was domain registered: 2019-06-02.
They have to prove that they are mining crypto in which they fail, so there is no way you can be sure that they mine but I'm sure they don't mine and it's another scam project.
So to sum up, this website is 100% scam and your money is gone, hard truth.

the only thing you can do make scam accusation here, and possible you will help someone to save his money. Second thing, you can report fraud domain to his register, google and whenever you think, there is a big chance he will be suspended and disabled.
therefore, you can only hurt them for future work and nothing more.

Just move on and take this one as a lesson learn.Report them? Dont bother out but somehow you can at least warn other people by reporting it same as
mentioned above ^ but everything is already late and these scams would continue as long there are greedy fools that would easily fool and feeding up these scammers
all over again. Now you are aware on these cloud mining scams, you wouldnt really be victimized on next situations like this.

Do we really need to see some reports first before we can conclude that a certain service is not worth to put a shot?

Common sense is enough. Clearly, you got blinded by the passive income earnings to the point that you avail the highest tier of the plan which cost BTC0.05.

Company's information can be found on the website. Their office location is also stated there. Yours to check now if you are eager to push for an investigation.

This is completely assuming that the address/location indicated is their actual location though. I think it's very likely that they can just grab a bitcoin-affiliated company and just slap it on their website.

EDIT: Did a bit of searching on "BITCOINBASE LIMITED"; and I think I found the LinkedIn profile of the "CEO"..

LOL. Dude's completely bollocks.

Yes, that was a bit of sarc*stic post for OP since I need him to understand that there's a low chance now that he can get back what his loss.

He seems also determined so I suggest him to check it by himself - the real stuffs behind that "Company Details".

OP, the best thing to do now is to slowly moves on from what happened. Thanks for the heads up and this should be served as a warning for all newbies out there to become more vigilant finding opportunities on the web.

Better create a scam report in the scam section, this is the right section for this kind of complaints, so people will see and will not invest on this kind of program, as a rule of the thumb, people should not invest in cloud mining, they are 100% scam and considered as Ponzi scheme.

Consider yourself lucky. While you're probably early on concerning Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, think of it. If you'd be scammed a year from now instead of now, you probably would have deposited a significantly bigger amount of money. People in 2017 have lost a lot more, especially on BitConnect[1].

Yes you can move this to the scam and reputation section. But this can also fit in this section since you are discussing whether the site is scam or not. And yes it is.
Any cloud mining site you come across is basically like a virtual gold mine or at least that is what it is supposed to be. So if you do not hear chatter about it everywhere assume the worst first.

The question should not be whether this site is a scam, but rather 'is this site not a scam?' You have to be sharp and change your perspective here in this crypto world if you are to save yourself from more such scam services.

It's quite simple actually, you should regard any cloud mining site as a scam, or rather a way to pry money from most investors.

Even sites such as bitdeer are a scam, much less blatant obviously, but they do change their rig prices, and completely suck you dry in the end, often leaving you with less bitcoin than you started with.
Why wouldn't bitdeer mine themselves with their rigs if it were so profitable as they make it out to be? They're simply dumping all the risk on their "investors"(or rather- virtual rig buyers) while they reap the harvest virtually risk free.

Virtually ALL cloudmining operations are scams, mainly Ponzi schemes. Only Bitdeer and Hashnest (both owned by Bitmain) aren't

you said all cloud mining are scam but you said bitdeer and hashnet are exempted  . so meaning to say not all cloud mining sites are scams because there are few that are legit  .  ive heard hashflare is also legit .

There is no tactic here. They really got my BTCs and didn't allow me to make withdraws.
