Title: Bitcoin Transactions
Post by: mirawantirinjana on July 05, 2019, 10:22:21 AM
I sent a Bitcoin from Indodax.com to the IDAX Exchange, but it still hasn't finished and it's been more than 1 hour, isn't this too long?
what is the actual time to make the transaction?

Depends on the fees amount you paid and the traffic in mempool.

This morning the fees were really low. I had a tx with only 1 sat/Byte and it was confirmed in less than 20 minutes where in recent times we have experienced even over 100 sat/Byte was taking few hours to confirm (if I am not wrong).

ok, thank you for sharing your experience, now the transaction I have done is finished.
I send it with a fee of 10 sat / Byte.
and it turned out that almost 1.5 hours of the transaction I had just finished.

There's not an actual "time" for the transaction to confirm. All you see in websites and wallets are estimations (that can be good or not). Usually the transactions with higher fee/byte will get confirmed in front of the ones with lower fee. Especially in the busy hours, people start paying higher and higher fees, leaving older lower fee transaction fall behind more and more.

When you make a transaction watch for sites like https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx
But don't just read the recommended fee. Check the "size count" too and also the graph at the end with the mempool size. You'll see if it's bound to grow or not. And from there you can decide a proper fee for your transaction, depending also if you are in a hurry or not.

I've consolidated some amounts coming from many inputs this week. I wanted to send at some point the transaction, seen that the mempool is filling and recommended fee is over 100, I waited until next morning and sent at 2 sat/byte.

Thanks for confirming it. Value making next transaction to make with average fees for byte. You may leave fees as it is when you saw as default in your wallet.
When there is any problem in transaction even with the as average fees means you can use any transaction accelerator to solve that issues.

3 days ago I used to wait for a transaction around 12hours. And the transaction fee was average. But I think the network was overloaded.

This is not overloaded, this is just a queue waiting for miners to transport and process the transactions we are doing.

If you know that your fees are average then don't expect that it will be confirmed quickly. And OP is right that the network isn't overloaded, looking at the number of unconfirmed transactions it's amazing that it's becoming low these days.

Before it's around tens of thousands of unconfirmed transactions that makes each transactions to be unconfirmed for a long time.

Actually this is not an important discussion.
Op was too scared, because the IDAX issue was scam and immediately pulled his assets from IDAX.
there is nothing to be afraid of, because transactions are recorded.

Ok, thank you sir, right with what you said actually I was too scared if the assets I had from IDAX were late and had problems. now the assets that I have withdrawn have entered safely.

Possibly low fees so taking for 1-3 hours i believe.

Should consider trading in Switch.ag, not your key not your cryptos. Stop gifting exchanges your funds

You should really try reading up about Bitcoin fees, and how to set them, and how to discover the appropriate fees. Check out the threads in Technical Support there are a lot of people asking for assistance and a lot of guidance.

But first, switch to Electrum or a client that lets you specify exactly how much fees to set.

Anyway, 6k in mempool now so you should not have to wait long.

all depends on the fees you provide, there may be a small fee so you are in a long queue. so you have to be patient. this only takes about 1 hour if you are able to be patient.

The faster you ditch IDAX the better. Aren't you following the news about them scamming projects off millions? Read more here : https://medium.com/@info_85454/idax-pro-scammed-crypto-projects-for-up-to-5-000-000-usd-c2d10a0dd14e
