Title: Tracking the mining rigs
Post by: btcforthewin on July 08, 2019, 10:02:32 PM
Hi, I hope that I am in the right spot.

I would like to understand if it is possible to research where to rigs are located? ( approximate geographic location)
Is it possible ?

If the answer is yes, I am happy to read your suggestions.

What information do you have about said rigs to go from?

What information do you have about said rigs to go from?

Lets assume that I have nothing. Is it possible to get the location from publicly accessible data?
Lets keep it simple stupid.

What publicly accessible data?  Are you looking at a specific pool, or are you thinking you can track a solo miner based on a block hash or what?

Let's keep it simple.  What information do you have to track?  If you have no information, no you can't track.

Why :D
No!

Actually I was wondering if  anyone can analyse the geographical distribution of rigs around the world :P
I have not mining experience also, I recently saw an article of mining power distribution but they did not explain how they gained the data. Surely It can be so easily gotten as searching google, lol.

You can't find the location of specific rigs or small farms as rigs do not provide this option. The only rigs and mining devices everyone knows about their location are big datacenters like Hashnest or Genesis mining which this later one is located in Iceland.
Both tried to offer cloud mining but both made people lose their money.

Go to China  ;D
China is home to some of the world's largest cryptocurrency mining farms – data centres hosting the mining rigs

In Canada and Russia of the Siberian region there are a lot of installations with miners. But why? Want to expose data centers?

you don't need that info. It has already been done by others. BTC is mined nearly at 60% in china due to their stupidly cheap energy related to being a third world country. Is China a third world country? Yes. Why if they are the second country in the world with more rich people and nearly 40% of chinese people are in the 10.000 to 100.000$ income?? Well, because there are at least 500 million people poor which is 10 times more people than my country which are poor or nearly poor. That's why prices are low there.

Just to compare, you cannot live in Spain - Madrid with 750$ income. but in Shanghai or Beijing you can get with 750$ a flat + costs related, eat, transport, mobile and internet home and some nights going out. That's what tells you if China is a third world country.

BTC is brutally centralized and the chinesse are the ones taking profit.
