Title: How to use the same address for sending and receiving Bitcoin? (Simple question)
Post by: Get-Paid.com on July 10, 2019, 06:06:09 AM
As far as I know, Blockchain.com doesn't let you send/receive Bitcoin from the very same address, it always changes your Bitcoin address.

I tried to use Electrum but the receiving address is not the same as the sending address.

Is there any software or app or a website that provides you with a Bitcoin wallet - where your Bitcoin Address remains the same for both sending and receiving without any changes whatsoever?

Use https://www.bitaddress.org to generate wallet and then copy the private key to electrum or blockchain, you can run it offline too.

If you want to use your old address from blockchain or electrum, try take only private key from the address that you want and import it again using private key.

You can only send funds from an address which you received BTC to earlier.
And address stay valid forever.

So.. you can always receive BTC to the same address. And if you only receive funds to this address, you only can send BTC from exactly this address.
Even if you receive funds to a different address, you can choose the inputs to consume from the 'coins' tab in electrum.

Wallets do only create additional addresses for you. You don't have to use them.

You can either only use one private key in a wallet or simply create 'pay-to-many' transaction spending the whole balance (one part you want to spend, the rest back to the same address).

I tried to use Electrum but the receiving address is not the same as the sending address.

1. You can do in Electrum View->Show Addresses, so you know better what you do. You can then right-click one address and Spend From.
2. You can send to any address with Electrum, including the address you are sending from. To show you this, I made some screenshots (on TestNet). At the end, Electrum will show as spent only the tx fee.

Also, just FYI: Even if the adress on blockchain.com is no longer visible, you can still send payments to it and it'll show up to your balance just fine. (as bob already said.)

But, it's much smarter anyway to switch to Electrum or Bitcoin Core due to the increased amount of fee options, segwit, rbf, etc.

You can also switch "change addresses" OFF in Electrum... "Tools -> Preferences -> Transactions":

Simply untick the "Use change addresses" option. Any change generated from a transaction will be returned to the original address.

Alternatively, you can simply create a wallet file in Electrum by importing a single private key. This wallet will contain exactly one address. It will never create new addresses (unless you import more private keys to it).
