Title: Will there be physical casinos operating with cryptos in the future?
Post by: rdluffy on July 15, 2019, 03:55:20 PM
My thoughts here, I wonder if in the future, physical casinos will use cryptos

I know casinos use coins to spend inside and them people can exchange these coins to fiat money again

But maybe a casino can use cryptos inside, you buy a card with BTC or LTC for example, and you can play with this card

Have you ever think about his? What is you opinion guys?

Maybe some casinos already accept cryptocurrency payment to buy chips / gaming chips / casino tokens. I don't think replacing these "icons" would be a good idea because it won't feel the same...

You should watch more Hollywood movies mate.

I know they use tokens and it's part of the fun  ;D
But for example, there are another casinos that have some kind of games that allow to pass a card with money here in my country

As the cryptocurrency acceptance around the world have increased tremendously we've got more chances of physical casinos with cryptocurrency acceptance at present somewhere around. When years pass surely the gambling industry offline will also be dominated by the cryptocurrencies same as that we have with the online gambling access.

Using crypto directly to their games? I think for now it won't but we don't know what's the possible cause in the future. I agree that it can be used to purchase credits or sort of coins for their gamblers but it won't be able to gamble directly.
Although I've seen people on social medias posting and looking for people who has bitcoin and they told that it will be used for gambling on a physical casino. I didn't have the chance to know the whole story on how and why they are looking for that.

This is impossible due to the regulatory frame is most countries.I don't think it's necessary. The online crypto gambling industry is going just fine and most of the crypto gambling businesses are registered on offshore island countries with very liberal financial and gambling laws.Obviously it's not worth it to just go and play in a real crypto casino located in Malta, for example. :)

No difference at all to the purpose of why people go in a physical casino.

The only advantage here is, people, if run out of funds in fiat can use their crypto directly without a need of converting it to fiat.

I don't see why it should be considered as one of the future plans by the casino owners. Maybe someday, who knows.

It’s just like crypto in general, as time elapses we’ll see more & more use for crypto in more mainstream industries. It’ll take years but eventually crypto will be everywhere.

No it wont really come to a point for casinos to change up traditional Chips on being replaced by BTC/LTC cards on playing in the venue.
They can integrate crypto payments on buying up chips but talking already on replacing those arent that possible unless if there's a higher demand then
it might be considered but its too early to say for now.

There are differences, and some people may be interested in a physical bitcoin casino.

For example, I live in Brazil and my local currency is BRL. If I go to Las Vegas, I have to convert my BRL to USD, which is a very cost operation (usually I lost 2-7%, depending os the conversion method).
If I could just play with BTC, I wouldn't lose this 2-7%. I could spend more money in the casino, would not pay all those useless bank fees and taxes.

It would be good for customers and for the casino.

They'll start to accept it when the demand is high enough. Gambling in real casinos is more of a social gathering to me, having fun with some friends, drinking at the bar and playing games. If they would accept crypto in casinos they would be even more attractive.

This is a real and good example for using cryptos in a casino, you don't have to convert your money to the local fiat money

Another situation:
It's possible to imagine some situations where a casino can take advantage using cryptos to avoid some taxes, something like that, I don't want to talk about illegal stuff, but there are breaches that people can take advantage

I'm sure there will be physical casinos that use blockchain technology for things like proving the fairness of their games and sharing data between their branches for multiplayer games.

However, I doubt they will start accepting cryptocurrencies soon, simply because their volatility can immediately wipe out the house edge, unless there is a permanent exchange similar to forex.

I don't find it likely in the near future either. Crypto adoption as a whole's still progressing pretty slowly as a whole at the moment, with relatively few physical stores and services in general accepting cryptocurrency. IF the casinos were to start accepting a stablecoin like USDC or USDT, this could help out with the volatility issue, but I don't find it likely volatility's going away with non-stablecoins anytime soon.

I think there is a possibility that physical casino will use cryptos in the future when the demand is high, and as we all know that crypto is becoming popular these days so its not possible that it will be used and embraced by physical casinos.

There is high possibility of that situation. Now that a lot of online casinos are integrating crypto as their payment system, physical casinos will follow thru this kind of system. By the way, your last statement is contradicting with your first statement.  ;)

This is going to become a good casino of the future where a lot kf crypto enthusiast playing in one room, though the risk will be more higher since we know cryptocurrncy are getting so much attention from the public so I guess all eyes to the hodlers. It would be great if we still remain anonymous on that casino.

Physical casinos usually using "chips" on the game and it is usually in terms of fiat money (mostly USD) something like 1chip for 1usd. It is very possible to see that people can buy the chips with crypto but changing the chips into (maybe) bits or mbtc wont come true in the near future because of the unstable price. But nothing is impossible in this world, maybe there will be a well known online crypto casino build their own physical casino in the future (who knows?).

In the future but also right now I'll be quite surprised if somewhere big or small an operator is not already accepting Bitcoin somewhere in their establishment.   Just because its a crossover product and to entice in an extra audience.

Never think about that, but that could be possible because that will makes us have different cryptos in each casino, and we can choose a different casino. That will help cryptos spread among the gamblers, and they will know that in the cryptocurrency, there is not just about bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, dogecoin, but there are other coins too.

With the growth of technology, I think the casino will make a new improvement to their places. If there is a real casino which using bitcoin as the coin and the casino get success, the other casino will follow too.

One reason that a certain Casino might consider accepting crypto to purchase their tokens if they will have plans to trade it in or out. Because obviously the first thing that they will consider is it's price volatility. And if they can use it for their lending services the money will be flowing fast and crypto might not be suitable for this. Unless if Casinos will use it in trading other FIAT Currencies.

Yes ofcourse it is possible because crypto now can convert into fiat.nowadays crypto was use as money.so if you want to play using crypto convert to local money then an able to cashout.I am sure near casino theres a lot of atm can be withdraw and play now into gambling.and I also believe that using a card like what you said card with BTC is possible to make and also using lightning processing by barcode transfering crypto to play gambling is also possible. Nowadays all are possible in this day.just wait and I know by the people who is really smart and intelligent now and by the people developing  a hightech technology everything is possible for transaction of money and can be use to play into gambling.

Yes, most of the casino works with chips, they may allow users to buy chips using crypto but withdrawing it back to crypto is not likely as there would be legal issues of taxation and due to volatility of crypto. But who knows we might even see a real world gambling that uses bitcoin denomination as chips.

I remember someone sharing a photo of the physical casino accepting Bitcoin so it's already possible and there's still lot of people who are gambling with different cryptocurrencies. It's only a matter of time until physical casinos would start to notice its popularity and decide to add them as alternative payments.

i see this question the same as " will there be a store that will accept crypto payments ? " . the answer totally depends on what country your living  , on some countries the cryptos were fully legal and most people are already using it whether on stores or on a gambling casino   . the numbers of establishments that accepts cryptos is lower so far because cryptos are yet starting but as soon as it gets popular , the numbers of those establishments that accepts cryptos will also increase  .

Physical gambling club should seriously think about tolerating crypto to buy their tokens on the off chance that they will have plans for exchange, if ever Casinos will utilize it in exchanging other FIAT Currencies. On chances that they can utilize it for their loaning administrations the cash will stream quick and crypto probably won't be appropriate for this, because of the volatile character of crypto. Since clearly the primary thing that they will consider is it's value instability, compared with fiat physical casino operation.

There's a possibility it will happen in the future. If more people recognizes crypto and wants it, it would more likely to happen. Physical casinos would probably accept crypto if there's a high demand. Or maybe in the future, a casino who is willing to operate with crypto would open

Hopefully it wont. Imagine you sitting at the table with stacks of LTC and BTC chips in front of you and mistaking a BTC chip instead of an LTC one to bet. Thousands of dollars gone in no time ;)

To be serious: it would be very difficult to handle for casinos (exchange rates, comperability of the coins, ...) and has simply no advantage to traditional chips

The payment went buying chips from the casino could be can using a cryptocurrency, its always using a chip depending on the TOS from the casino.

It could be cant, because the address of Bitcoin with Litecoin its cleary different. Went you sending the fund, see the front the address using letter L you should recognize that address of Litecoin, not Bitcoin.

At this time the physical casino uses a kind of coin for payment then exchange it into fiat money when you finish playing. but in my opinion it will be complicated, what if you buy lots of coins and get big win, how you will take it? using crypto will be much simpler, just use QR in the gambling machine and you can play, I'm sure there will be that system at the casino in the future

When crypto is widely accepted, I have no doubt casinos will began accepting it, that would be additional to their payment option and it could attract more gamblers especially the crypto enthusiast. They are operating to make money so they have to cater everyone's needs and demands to satisfy a gamblers.
When I say widely accepted, I'm expecting it's widely regulated as well, and less risk when it's regulated.

Its possible to happen but it depends on how popular the cryptocurrency in the particular country.

Casino owners might consider using crypto for purchasing chips if crypto is popular there and many people are already aware of its existence. This is good for crypto enthusiasts because we dont need to use fiat to be able to buy chips.

However because of the volatility of crypto it will take time for them to consider or if they see an advantage if they use crypto.

The sensible thing about crypto use in traditional casinos is when users will buy chips. Instead of using fiat, they can buy it with crypto. But all will depend on the casino owner whether they are interested in applying the method or not.

I do not think that is practical at all. Chips will stay as a standard on any casino because it is easier to count and stack. It just feels great if you can see a large stack of chips on your table.

But cryptocurrency can still be integrated to any casinos. Casinos can accept crypto as payment for chips. If I am a gambler, I rather have my winnings in crypto so no one can steal it away from me when I walk out the establishments.

I'll add another situation here

You can have all money you want to gamble in your hardware wallet for example, and you can travel to the casino's country without have to carry a lot of money
If you win on casino, you'll get all the money in cryptos and again, in your hardware wallet, simple

I'm liking the idea dude. I mean you can just bring your hardware wallet an plug it in and then continue to play. The only downside I'm thinking is that how secure when you exited the physical casino.

There could be some bad actors just waiting for the right target and steal all your crypto once you get out of the casino. There are already multiple reports in fiat based casino. So it will be dangerous as well, specially if you have been identified to have won huge amount of crypto specially bitcoin.

If they will go fully digital by adopting crypto, it would be easy for them to track their money and it's safer on their side unlike keeping paper money which are million in values in their safe.

I never thought of this, but there is a possibility this will happen in the future.

I seriously doubt there will be such a casino. And in case there is on in the future I am not sure Bitcoin would be the ideal currency to use there.
Can you imagine waiting 30 minutes for your bitcoin transaction to be included in one of the upcoming blocks?! Maybe an Alt currency with faster transaction speeds and lower fees.

plugging the hardware wallet on a public machine to play is verry risky . what if the machine is infected with a virus ? your coins will be stolen  .  now when it comes to safety when going outside if ever you win , hardware wallets or using a crypto is more secure because you will not carry a physical cash and no one will know about your winnings because they cant see you carrying a cash or a bag . instead you can only put the hardware wallet on your pocket and walk away inoscently .

Interesting to see this kind of situations to happen inside any casino places, if a gamblers only needs to ring his hardware wallet or mobile devices where he can log in to his online wallet then start to play, win or lose you are not bringing out any physical fiat and you are not prone to any harmed not unless if the physical casino you visited have some mafias inside, but that's another case, maybe it will happen we never know.

Don't you think that it will just a be a waste of time? Sounds very uncomfortable for me, instead of going with real money, you have to login in your wallet, then make transaction and etc. I think there is no need of integrating cryptocurrencies in real casinos, you may know it's known fact that real casinos are great way of money laundering and adding a crypto will be a pain in ass for them, maybe, I don't talk about online crypto casinos, it's different thing because it's wholly dedicated to crypto and real life casinos need license from governments.

that is right, we are not far away from that time when you would have the ability to use your coin in the local casino and I am in fact surprised to see there is not any casino like this right now. Correct me if I am wrong. There must be some in the US/Canada accepting Bitcoin because the coins in these countries has made home in almost every business.

What's been mentioned is correct, but this is one view and when we look upon the same in some other way we get more possibilities to establish the services. Physical casinos are the one that gives common people better understanding and let them spend.

This is the best as you do not have to take tension of getting looted by some one when you carry physical cash. So this is a preferred method of gambling were you play from the wallet and if you win it gets deposited online itself in a digital way.

There's a possibility that it's already happening although there is not yet news that one physical casino is already using this, it's a good idea and possible to happen when many casinos operators become open on using it to their operation.
To be honest  I am sure about this... one day all gamblers will be able to gamble with crypto and for crypto even in physical casino. So we only have to find one because as much popularity and importance crypto has I am sure it must already being operate in some casino, if it will happen maybe it will increase the value of gambling.

My thoughts here, I wonder if in the future, physical casinos will use cryptos

I know casinos use coins to spend inside and them people can exchange these coins to fiat money again

But maybe a casino can use cryptos inside, you buy a card with BTC or LTC for example, and you can play with this card

I have think several time about casino using bitcoin or ethereum to purchase cards for playing but for now this is not feasible. The crypto coins are still developing and many people did not know how important this technology are to our gambling and financial system and I believe that in future we are going to use bitcoin for different sectors of our economy.

I think using cryptos in gambling in the future might be possible too since we are already in the stage of adopting cryptocurrency.Once mass adoption for crypto will be realized, surely casinos will also apply in their own site using cryptos to play bets and win in the form of cryptos too.

I don't see why they can't add it as a payment option at the cage, next to cash and debit/credit cards. You'd just be buying chips, though. I don't see the fundamental system changing just because of crypto.

You can have all money you want to gamble in your hardware wallet for example, and you can travel to the casino's country without have to carry a lot of money
If you win on casino, you'll get all the money in cryptos and again, in your hardware wallet, simple

That's a good mindset, However there are certain countries that have established their laws with regards to crypto currencies. For example the US government can look at your hardware wallet and you shouldn't be allowed to bring more than $10k and your bitcoin hardware wallet should count.

Therefore you should also have to keep your coin first. Like if you are using a treasor wallet you can easily hide your coin. Or you should empty your hardware wallet (make sure to keep and bring you bring your seed so you can recover it when you pass through the airport.

What you asked for should be possible especially in Crypto friendly countries...afterall, there are cryptocurrency atm in some countries these days.

Mass adoption will bring back the hype and gambling sites will spread over the online crypto forums as springing up mushrooms after the rain. Physical crypto casino projects is not a new idea, this idea was used as a crypto business plan(whitepaper) but that project was not able to raise more than half-million as far as I remember.

There a lot of breaches in this, if you have a wallet you can transfer more than 10k instantly to you hardware wallet adress, I don't know how government os USA will deal with these situations, it's something completely new and I have to say, it's very hard, even for me who like cryptos, to imagine all possibly scenarios where cryptos can be inserted and the laws to prevent frauds like this one about 10k limit

Let's hope USA and all another countries do something good to cryptos  :)

There is a big possibility that it can happen, many Cryptocurrency investors are gamblers themselves, so they will love to see their beloved coin in Casino and it will also attract many investors to try their hands in gambling knowing that they are going to win Cryptocurrency also, one big disadvantage is instead of immediately exchange their casino crypto coins, they would want to hold it longer, and exchange it only when there's a pump.

Even if he does not like fiat and loves to gamble using crypto, there is no possibility for fiat to disappear from the local casinos because that is the sign of getting rich by actually going into the houses. The sight of fiat actually lures the layman to get in the gambling. That is more like a psychological advertisement. In addition, there is huge possibility that he might be able to gamble in a casino using his crypto.

I think the answer may be yes even sooner. Although I don't know, maybe there are casinos anywhere in the world that accept payments like this and give them the opportunity to gamble. Although there are many casinos in the country where I live and all of them are quite popular, I would like to state that they do not accept payments in this way. It may also be a matter of wonder why these companies that accept payments by credit card, although prohibited, do not prefer an untraceable means of payment. Maybe payment is not accepted due to price or speculation, but I do not think that these factors are important obstacles or excuses. Personally, if I was running a casino, I would definitely accept payment with all cryptocurrencies, and would use the collected payments for investment purposes, never convert them into cash.

That never happened if in my opinion. Because many people here who prefer online gambling use crypto and some who like to go straight to the casino using the coins they convert. So, however, these two casinos will remain as usual and never unite in the sense of a physical casino cannot use crypto. So people can still choose to play directly or online.

For now I've never seen any physical casino making use of crypto but if it ever happens, then it's a great mainstream approach for crypto since casino games are gaining more widespread attention globally. Well nothing is impossible, this should happen in future.

Maybe it will happen in the future when the adoption is already widely spread, it will be great if some traditional land casino try to accept crypto, but it will point to one question will there be any verification or kyc to withdraw or using it, people used crypto to gamble because anonymity, although it sound great but there are a lot to consider to used crypto in land casino
The main reason why we use the crypto casinos is provided anonymity by the crypto gambling sites. It will become harder to hide the identity in the real physical casino, I doubt there will be real physical crypto casinos in the near future.

There are a few countries which is crypto friendly
Think about a small country where riches can do everything related to crypto, there's a great opportunity to open a crypto casino and crypto stores...

Some small countries have opportunities to riches keep their money secure and do some incentives to people move there, it's not hard to belive this kind of thought applying to cryptos

People use crypto currencies to gamble in crypto casinos to keep their identity hidden and maintain their privacy. Now if people uses physical casino, then they no longer remain anonymous. Again, physical casinos might be rigged, but a legit online crypto casino can never be rigged. Each bets placed can be manually verified in online crypto casino.

It is possible I think. But maybe they won't be using chips anymore and will just be automated, like Bitcoin ATM whenever a player wants to gamble, all he has to do is swipe or scan a QR code and then he could play. This maybe when the time crypto or Bitcoin will really be a primary currency around the globe.

it is possible that in the future there will be some traditional casino managers who can implement this so that they can receive crypto, but if Kyc is needed by every user who wants to enjoy related services, I think everyone will object to the rules given so there is no freedom to use the services provided

That's why you should have to be very careful travelling to this countries bringing your own hardware wallet as they might be going to check it. Unless, the authorities in the said airports are clueless about the drives you are bringing in to their countries.

We have not yet seen any physical casino but soon, after the crypto spreads in all country and there is more country accepting crypto, and for the country which allows gambling are accepting crypto too, the crypto will be used in the gambling and all sectors. We need to spread crypto in all places so more people will know about crypto and that means, the cryptocurrency will have more chance to grow.

When the crypto can be used in our real life, it will be a big step for humankind because we have another method to the transaction, not just in the gambling but also in another field.

Have thought about it before and the chance for physical casinos to accept cryptocurrency in the future is high due to the ease, benefit and innovation which crypto can give to business owners. However, I don't think it will be long before we see physical casinos implementing crypto payment system cause I saw a physical casino bounty posted in the altcoin section when surfing through the forum a couple of days back which wants to integrate crypto payment.

In my opinion, it will defeat the purpose of online gambling- which is to provide convenience and anonymity among users in the gambling scene. The reason on why most people gamble online nowadays is for their safety. To be able to use cryptocurrencies as the medium for gambling makes it more convenient to people who possess such currency and resource.

I also believe that people are still open to the idea of going to casinos and exchange their resources for BTC as this may also be an avenue or like a community for people to discuss matters relating to bitcoin, and not to gambling perse.

Well, if you really think about it, one of the major reasons why there aren't more casinos is simply because it is so hard to acquire a gambling license.

By using cryptocurrencies instead of fiat, these new casinos would essentially bypass that restriction and allow anybody to gamble, even those under the age of 18.

Yeah the Essenes of physical casino from the starts are having chips as betting accessories and changing this into virtual is not in the concept I think, maybe casinos are accepting bitcoin to buy chips as payments to purchase chips and will sell out also to bitcoin after the game but betting thru crypto won’t never happen I guess

I see physical casinos as something of yesterday... Whether they adopt cryptocurrencies or not. It's not really of much significance.
Every service is now resorting to use the internet.
Shopping, gambling, contracts etc, people are finding it more and more convenient to do there things online rather than in physical addresses.

Beside most countries restrict casinos and gambling so doing it online will one of the best ways to circumvent these bans and so the physical casinos are only going to become less and less popular with time.

I see the possibility of this in the future.
Since cryptocurrency most especially Bitcoin will lost like be the future coin, so there is a possibility of this happening.
But the thing is if some countries will permit this considering the fact that gambling is also been under sanction in some countries.

You are right crypto currency has become very common all over the world now. We can see crypto has started to use for buying goods, in many companies and allot of other industries so I think it should now involve in gambling as well. In gambling earning crypto is best way to gain future savvier.
