Title: [RESURRECTION] Taking Astrocoin to the Moon,KGW Implemented + HARD FORK AT 17520
Post by: soopy452000 on March 15, 2014, 12:29:24 PM
Dear All,

While making a small announcement , I would like to make it clear that all resurrection work that I do are solely based on and I rely on and wish that they would be appreciated with your generous and kind donations , I just want to let you all know that I'm not here to rake millions and millions through my work nor I am mining these coins or hold these coins in millions nor that I have mined these coins in large amounts and holding them nor that like the Original Developer I have premine and can dump them anytime and make a profit.

I simply work on a abandoned coin when I see it has potential and there's a good community behind it supporting it , now ofcourse while I put all my time into this and do all the needful there's nothing I'm gaining or profiting off nor am I expecting anything in return however it would have been great if my efforts are appreciated and respected by the community with such donations as I do also have running costs and other things to attend to like all of us humans do , commitments , bills and responsibilities and everything for me comes at a price though I do not set prices for what I do , it would have been nicer and respectful if my work and time were to be compensated by your generous contributions/donations for uninterrupted flow of my work and to help me with my commitments while I'm working.

~SoopY~

Please do post your issues below and I will do my best to help overcome them , I have provided a working node and should help you sync to the blockchain without issues.

Also this is still the coin of the original developer and is not a take over , I'm merely assisting and supporting the community as well as the coin to get things stable and in the working direction.

All the very best and Success.
Regards,

Soopy

PS: If you find it stuck and not syncing , backup your wallet.dat and delete everything in your %APPDATA%/Astrocoin , create .conf with the above information and let the blockchain download afresh , things should work thereafter.

Excited to see ASR resurrection :)

I've updated my wallet to the new version, but even after deleting the appdata files, the sync gets stuck 6 hrs behind - current number of block showing 17518

I'm in the process of getting more nodes and also about the 6 hours behind issue is now due to the fact that with the extreme difficulty , the network is still solving 17518 block your wallet should come to sync once it has been found , the node I have provided will work perfect after the fork has been occured till then you are free to use the old nodes.

Hello all,
I got the new client, backed up my wallet, ran it, stopped it, put the new astrocoin.conf file in place,
ran it again and no connections, so I added the old nodes as you suggested and away it went until I got to 11 hours behind.

Now I guess it is doing what you mentioned and the wallet won't sync until the new block is solved, so I'll just leave the wallet running and I am mining on a pool at the same time to help solve the block.

If I have stuffed something up, please do let me know.

I won't ask the pool for the balance until I see it has synced.

Very nice of you to help Astrocoin and revitalize a very good coin.

Moon be buggered, Alpha Centauri here we come.

Back again quickly,

Looking at the info on the pool

Est. Avg. Time per Block    205 minutes 33 seconds
Current Block    17518

I'll come back in 4 or 5 hours and see how it is all going.
I hope the block gets solved by then if not I guess the wallet will be 16 or 17 hours behind.

Cheerio.

looks like http://coin-base.info/astrocoin/ (http://coin-base.info/astrocoin/) working, even though I'm missing any reward for previous block (17522)
but wallet doesn't sync, stuck on 17522.. has coin-base forked by any chance?

blockexplorer is on 17522 block too. I think that coin-base is on the wrong chain(they don't have the KGW implemented) and nobody is mining right because wallet doesn't sync.

Doesn't it mean that the block explorers are on the wrong chain instead of the pool?

Astrocoin experiment

I started fresh each time back at 9 weeks behind.

Wallet will not synchronize.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 1.

Wallet client run using only the addnode=blockxplorer.com node.

Only got to within 21 hours.

Stuck on block 17519.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test 2.

Wallet client run using old nodes

addnode=107.22.238.207
addnode=24.184.100.134
addnode=198.245.54.21
addnode=213.127.238.164

Only got to within 5 hours.

Stuck on block 17522.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pool is currently on block 18044.

Somewhere in between are my astrocoins floating in cyberspace.
They have not appeared in my wallet after requesting a cashout from
http://coin-base.info/astrocoin

Hi,

I don't see any new news, I just looked around again.

The pool is currently on block...Current Block    18515

But the block chain explorers are still stuck on 17522

I stopped mining, but I saw there were over 30 workers still mining.

Also Block explorers have been informed to updated yet they are yet to update.

I went to the OP post and got the block chain,

I started with a new fresh dir with a conf that only had the no-ip.biz node in it.

It runs but the hours behind are not moving from 31 hours.

The block chain is still on 17522 when I look at Debug window information.

I'm in the process setting up a few nodes and also I would like everyone's cooperation with regards to the same , I have also requested the blockchain zipped up from coin-base.info to share with you all.

Also I would like to request everyone to a node/ip linking to the updated and synced wallet they have.

Coin-base is on the correct chain and with KGW mate that's why you see corrected difficulty retargets.

Coinedup has been informed to update the client and we are all waiting for them.

Do folllow coin-base mate you'd understand, and yes KGW retargets every block but it doesn't refect like that on every pool.

Oh wow finally this coin is alive,

which makes me happy, because i like this coin very much, the name the astro feeling and also
it was the first coin i bought (it was not cheap^^) in my cryptoadventure :)

thank you very much soopy452000, you should add a astrocoin donation adress to your signature ;)

And if the former astrocoin dev is reading this, he or she should at least update the website.... it is the
minimum which you should do for the coin, also updating the pool-list and so on.

I'm personally thinking the orginal dev dumped his coins, but honestly if it is so, this is a very good thing for
the coin to get real value.

greetings

You are most welcome mate , I'm yet to recieve a copy of the blockchain from coin-base , thereafter I'm able to setup a few nodes for everyone to sync without much effort.

All old nodes are either no longer online or not on the new wallet which is why your wallet doesn't update past 17533.  I sent an email to coin-base.info asking if they would be kind enough to set up a public node to connect to since they seem to be the only pool mining on the correct blockchain right now.

Right, I just realised that I misread the dates of the block dump I posted - so those blocks were downloaded before I updated the client.

At this point in time anyone past block 17520 on the "old" chain like myself is going to reject any blocks found by new clients, even though we're both running the same new version. This is similar to what happened with Krugercoin: everyone forked to their own private chains when they upgraded, so the clients ended up rejecting blocks and banning each other.

It's important to check that coin-base.info upgraded prior to the fork - if they did not, they will have extended the chain past block 17520 using the old difficulty retarget algorithm, which new clients will reject, because they're expecting KGW at that point. This means that anyone with a block count below 17520 will never be able to sync past it, even if they delete the blockchain and restart.

not mining right now, since coin-base.info's message is "I disable temporaly the payout. A few users have problems. I search the error." Anyone know if its safe to mine there? They have most of the net hash.

Why is it so hard for coin-base.info to cooperate and help get this coin on the track!

Why is it so hard for coin-base.info to cooperate and help get this coin on the track!

If nothing happens soon there is another option - delete the db and sync from scratch. New clients will reject any blocks after 17520 that were generated by an old client, but will be able to mine from that point, so long as they have at least one active peer. This will kick start the new fork. Note that doing this will negate all of the blocks found by coin-base so it's really a last resort thing.

To get onto their chain all we need is for ONE of us to connect to coin-base's astrocoin client and download the block chain... but coin-base.info is not listening on port 14333. Their client is either using a different P2P port, or another IP. Also heed my warning about private forks if they did not update prior to block 17520; if their chain is to be adopted as the official one but they didn't upgrade before 17520 then the fork point will need to be updated in the client (ie, another release)

I've dowloaded and installed this chain. It looks like they may have forked at the right point, which is good. Bad news is that none of the peers my client is trying to connect to seem to be on this chain - the archive includes peers.dat so I was hoping I'd quickly be able to find such a peer. In addition, astrocoin.no-ip.biz does not appear to be up.

So right now I'm "synced" to block 19882 (minted a little over an hour ago), but since I have no connections to suitable peers I'm effectively stuck in limbo. The chain will never extend. If someone connects to me now and syncs to the chain I have, then starts mining, they will create an additional fork!

I'm not sure how people are withdrawing their coins from the pool, if there's no other peers on the right chain... maybe coin-base is on its own (effectively private) chain? We really need the IP of coin-base's client to properly join the network.

Well nearly there,

It is about 3.30 am here in Australia.

I started the client again after getting the new blockchain zip.

It was very fast in getting the block chain.

My ASR from the pool was in there as well.

I watched the debug window and the coinbase.info ASR pool info window.

I was watching the block chain numbers.

The client said block 20015

The pool info page said block 20016

When that block was done, the client showed it first by changing to 20016 and then the webpage changed to 20017 a few seconds later.

I tested a withdrawal from coinbase.info/astrocoin.

I got those ASR a few seconds later.

BUT.

The wallet still says Wallet (out of sync) and there are 0 hours behind.

So, for all intents and purposes, I seem to be on the correct blockchain.

I only had 1 node line in the astrocoin.conf file.

addnode=astrocoin.no-ip.biz

The only thing I do not understand is why the (out of sync) message remains.

Perhaps it needs more than one node for that to be gone.

Can anyone enlighten us there?

Exactly the same problem... is it safe to withdraw coins while as described above the wallet still says syncing with 0 hours?

So, for all intents and purposes, I seem to be on the correct blockchain.

I only had 1 node line in the astrocoin.conf file.

addnode=astrocoin.no-ip.biz

The only thing I do not understand is why the (out of sync) message remains.

Perhaps it needs more than one node for that to be gone.

Can anyone enlighten us there?

Awesome to hear that you are on the right chain , the out of sync message is due to the fact that we need more nodes on the correct chain and also the network is still seem to solving the current block! :)

News on coin-base:

Quote
Payout work, you only need the right chain.
Please look in the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=516549.0
Invite you a current client down and uses the following block chain http://coin-base.info/astrocoin/asr-blockchain.tar.gz
Most exchanges have yet to update and so your coins not arrive there.
addnode=astrocoin.no-ip.biz

I've updated the conf on the OP with the coin-base node as well as my node with the correct chain from Coin-base.
Do let me know when you've synced my friend also we need more nodes on the new wallet , since it's a cat fight over here lol.

Cheers!
Soopy

On the correct blockchain I believe (downloaded from coin-base.info), but this is what I'm getting. On current block but saying 0 hours behind. Why is this happening, and how to fix?

https://i.imgur.com/chGFm0H.gif

At this point I don't even want to send coins to this wallet from the pool, they may get lost?

Exactly at same point. Please advice

Unzip the blockchain to your ~/.astrocoin (Linux/Mac) or %AppData%\astrocoin (Windows) folder, delete the peers.dat file and add the following nodes to your astrocoin.conf file:
addnode=astrocoin.no-ip.biz
addnode=coin-base.info:22477

Wallet's syncing and payouts from coin-base are coming through. Only one node syncing though, we could probably use a few more.

I started with the -rescan though, hope it is not a mistake.

Already had those 2 nodes in there. Removed the peers.dat and re-launched wallet. Still getting "0 hours behind".

Did not -rescan.

Yeah, stays up-to-date with current block, just that the green syncing progress bar never goes away. Always "0 hours behind".

Since you are in the correct chain if you downloaded the wallet and also the the blockchain , you should be able to recieve payments from coin-base.info , try out a small amount to test with.

It doesn't work that way my friend since we still need more clients on the new chain , because the old wallets are stuck on 17533.

This is the old chain. Are you sure you're using the newer version? Your client (if it is the new version) should not be able to sync past block 17520 (the KGW fork) if it was following the old chain; at that point it will start disagreeing about difficulty retargeting.

Instead of addnode= try connect=

This change will cause the client to only connect to those two nodes, rather than gratuitously working through the list of every IP in peers.dat. (You'll need to delete the blockchain again. Also, delete peers.dat)

Well,

I tried setting up a node using no-ip,
after a day of failing to get the ports to forward, I give up.

Also, yes the wallet does sync, for about 10 seconds and then it is back to Wallet (out of sync).

Is there anyone else that is also falling out of sync just after it does sync, watch it for a few seconds, don't just jump away yelling yeah.

I am using the block chain archive and all the nodes on the OP list.

Yup, I'm on the right blockchain and my wallet says "Synchronizing with network...0 hours behind" constantly. I'm getting payouts from the pool tho, so it is working despite the annoying eternal syncing issue.

Very curious coincidence....

I went here to have a look at coin values.

http://coinmarketcap.com/all.html

The current entry for ASR.

113    Astrocoin    $ 30,391    $ 1.73    17,533 ASR    $ 1,639    +141.69 %

Where it is written 17.533 ASR, is actually a link to a page with info on the blockchain.

Let's have a look at that and see if they are up to date and on the right chain.

It leads us to here.
http://altexplorer.net/chain/AstroCoin

Where we find.......

Chain Information
Name:    AstroCoin

Coins:    17,533

Curious that the block number and coins in circulation are the same.
Scheduled to Produce 210,000 Total Astrocoins.

Anyway,

they are still on the old chain as well.

How many are there yet to catch up?

I also have just received a withdrawal from coinedup and it arrived no problem.

I got my ASR in seconds.

Happy happy, joy joy.

Name:    AstroCoin

Yup, I'm on the right blockchain and my wallet says "Synchronizing with network...0 hours behind" constantly. I'm getting payouts from the pool tho, so it is working despite the annoying eternal syncing issue.

The client probably thinks it is still doing an initial sync. This happened with another coin when the dev forgot to remove the checkpoints of the coin he cloned it from.

In this case the checkpoints appear correct, so there's another reason... what block estimate does the -qt client show?

Code:
bool IsInitialBlockDownload()
{
    if (pindexBest == NULL || fImporting || fReindex || nBestHeight < Checkpoints::GetTotalBlocksEstimate())
        return true;
    static int64 nLastUpdate;
    static CBlockIndex* pindexLastBest;
    if (pindexBest != pindexLastBest)
    {
        pindexLastBest = pindexBest;
        nLastUpdate = GetTime();
    }
    return (GetTime() - nLastUpdate < 10 &&
            pindexBest->GetBlockTime() < GetTime() - 24 * 60 * 60);
}

Jeez some people are so stupid. why in the hell would u sell on 1/3 of the initial price? huge price drop. If everyone on this forum that mine ASR would keep the price up. it will stay up. but noooo let's sell cheap make no money, blame the devs.

If we do not make an effort to keep the price high it will become another shity coin. DO NOT SELL CHEAP

Maybe it is a good idea at this point to move some MH to other pools.
I've moved my 2 MH/s to http://astrocoin.miners-point.com/index.php
Anyone willing to join me?

i'm willing to move some mh. but it will help on the price and stability of the coin? i think not. the key for this coin is to not sell cheap. i have 300 asr. holding for better price. i wanna see this coin on 0.01 per asr. i can move at least 40 mh. but what can u do on pump and dump? if it is not backed by the community it in vain everything.

Most coins lacks community support.

so someone ad a shit load of coin on coinedup...and they where worth 0.001btc so he revamp asr so it gain value and he made a unstable wallet so nobody can cash out...

so now he is dumping freely all the coins that he already ad on coined up

Watch when you make accusations mate , you are driving out the community and proves you are not one of them! :S

I for one was contacting the original devs and trying to get them to perform the update you so graciously provided. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425367.msg5512296#msg5512296

And yes, I was saying blame the inital devs, so I will take this moment to say thanks again to you for doing what the initial devs have been too incompetent/lazy to do. However I've been adding nodes to my conf file as the list of them has grown and downloaded the new blockchain, but my wallet still won't sync so it is still an issue that people are having.

Edit: and it's pretty unbelievable that the original "devs" were unwilling to do anything beyond just linking to your fork and making you handle getting the nodes set up all alone. Why they aren't shamed out of the crypto community for life I don't know.

8 BTC?? Lol good luck with that. Where is the pre-mine from the original devs?

Can't you see it's donations I'm trying to raise? people are not forced to give out anything. I actually don't care about the premine since I haven't done and original devs long gone so I believe you shouldnt worry too.

Many people mine ASR make profits but gives nothing back to the community.

It's a pity.

Lol people are so happy for the Devs to do a premine and support a coin the same , but reluctant and makes snarky remarks to sustain the coin after bringing it back to life.

What logic.

Well, to be fair, a premine really costs miners and coin holders nothing in the short term, unless the dev dumps it all and crashes the market. Sending BTC causes an immediate effect on your balance. ;)

If memory serves me correctly there's at least a couple of coins which have staged 'donations', with a dev/foundation wallet receiving periodic payments at certain blocks. This resolves the situation where 95%+ of the coin supply in the first few months of the coin's life is a dev premine. Perhaps this could be added to a future version of ASR? (Expect lots of whingers though...)

Yup that's in a way like Block Tax my dear , which is based on Dev coin as such. Foundation and things true there will be alot of wingers lol! :D

I think it is meant that the difficulty-algorithm changes, i guess
it will stay at scrypt?

Hi soopy452000,

maybe you can add your Astrocoin donation adress to the box "Donations Received So Far"?
I will also donate 5 astros (thats more then 5% of my stack) and i think its a good sign for
others when they are seeing, ok the dev received (hopefully more and more) and holds astros,
so he is interested in the progress of this coin, i think this can give some trust.

and thanks for your work

regards

Who said it's abandoned? Did you donate in anyway? And I'm not collecting funds here , they are called donations you can either send some if you want/have. Think twice before you think otherwise or please keep them to yourself.

Not at all. I'm the one who resurrected Astro in the first place , I wouldn't have done it on my own will and freely if I was looking for money and I didn't expect anything back either. I will release the wallet accordingly but do not like to be pressurized , there have been thousands of coins mined of AstroCoins but merely a handful of coins have been donated by the generous community , things don't happen out of thin air. :) I'm putting my efforts , my time and resources atleast have a bit of respect for that.

I request you to not make a fuss and act all bossy on me you should by now understand what I'm trying to imply on here.

Trust is hard thing to earn especially If you don't know somebody. I have a suggestion.If you make people trust you they will be the ones give you coin even If you don't ask them. But by saying give me money and I will release the wallet never gonna happen. What will happen is they will stop mining it you will abandon the project someone else will come eventually and resurrect it for real.
That's what have been stopping me from fully committed to this project. I would have give you coins but I only mined about 10-15 so far.

I see here really no need to hurry or to stress.
When things are done they are done.

And i'm sure when the update is completed also the donations will grow,
ok i speak for me but i think also for some others :) .
I think some are a little bit careful hmm ok too many scammy experiences,
but this is the real nice thing here, this was a nice coin, full of
hope and greediness^^ but then the former dev dumped his (premined) coins
and silence came. Too bad it looked so nice.

And now soopy wants to resurrect it, the price is really cheap and all he
want is some donations, i see here a big potential and a fair deal, you
not even have to donate (but good work should be respected i mean).

So i have no doubts with soopy absolutly not - but actually i'm more wondering where the astro community is? ^^

Lost in Space, just waiting what will happen or just buying and mining ? ;)

  yeah lets do it but not rush it. lets sit back wait to see what happens for a bit. Im sure soopy will come around with a new update sometime this year. (wich is what we really need) we should evenly distribute the coins around (wich would be easier if it was fixed for better mining). Maybe get some news articles eh?. Irremember the one article where astrocoin was the worst launch in crypto history.
   maybe we can get the price up to a record .2 btc and get a new news article about best recovery? with more coins in circulation for faster tradeing better mining opportunity for the little guys and a decent buzz maybe we can get up to .5 btc by december. I know it sounds like a long stretch but if we take whatever skills we have individually and work together fix the coin generate a buzz. its not impossible to reach .5 btc. i mean astrocoin is rare eh? I feel like its a diamond in the rough atm.

Hope all is going well.
I have some premium gambling domains for astrocoin.
If anyone wants them, let me know.
I'd just ask for a minor share in profits :)

Alternatively, if you're interested, you can buy shares in the site. The money invested would be used for the script and hosting. In return you'd also get a percentage if all profits.

PM me if you're interested. - We can work something out!

about the wallet thats available now?  it's stuck on 4 weeks behind :( is there some new nodes I could add? (I tried the blockchain dl but link doesn't work) will the current wallet accept new coins from the mining pool?

I'm deff a bit bummed I didn't see this thread months ago... already at block 46000 or so :( But still glad I found it and glad to help :) if you need any help with the wallets or anything the new AC team might be willing to lend a hand or even the shibe dev's... they did fantastic work on their wallet.

PS If you guy's have been mining this from march and have gotten a bunch of ASR then you should have all the incentive you need to invest time in to bringing this coins potential to light.

where  1/4 of the way through the mining... now would be as good of time as any to get this ball rolling :D

Of course you doing it for the gains like all the rest. Nothing is free in this world. I will be the first to give some coins when I see some dedication and something done. It is discouraging to see no support from people. As I said further up this thread trust needs to be earned. Great day.

There's nothing about trust my friend , check the OP I didn't receive a single dime or let's say a coin before I took over so you can't actually say I was doing it for Gains , you can say I was looking for gains if someone paid me or promised a sum or directly or indirectly pledge to pay me or donate me a sum is Astro was ressurected and revived but no , I did it on my own will and not expecting anything from the community , things such as love for crypto and all other things are free and dedication can be free if someone is willing to make a change. :)

And about trust I've brought Astro for what it is today after it's death and if you still doubt well , Astro would have been long long gone and we might not be having this conversation if I did not take over Astro and do the needful changes and resurrected. :)

As I said I do believe in Crypto no matter the name or any other specification. The one thing that makes difference is  people. Release the wallet I will give you all of the coins I have currently on the pool. I have 11 AstroCoins  mined in there and took me sometime to get them. I have stopped mining while ago but I will restart once we have active wallet. I want to succeed with crypto but this can only be achieved If we give back.
 In another coin I pledge at one point more than the half of coins I had which I have mined for 3 weeks. I'm not cheap fucker.It's not about just having many but having active coins that can be used in real life to buy real goods and services.

I'm still relatively new to the crypto world, and thank dogecoin and their community for making such an effort to get more people involved in it. I see the potential of crypto currencies have to change the world for the better... and not just for a few people, but for everyone. to give us an even playing field. and take some of the power away from the corrupt bankers and politicians that are buying their way to our demise.

I'll match that 11 ASR to see a well done wallet :D If the wallets good I'd want to offer some more for sure and hopefully would be able to soon. I'm spread into a few coins right now and really don't want to sell any of them at the moment. lol and in non crypto world I really need a new delivery car at the moment, the rusty 86 vw golf diesel I'm driving has just about had it lol I got pulled over again tonight... damn vw tail lights.  and me having a car pay's my rent right now... lol damn priorities. But it's a good job, I tell at least one person a night all about Bitcoin and crypto currencies who has never heard of them before... so doing my best to help spread the bitcoin love.

Glad to hear back from ya Soopy, I'm not much of a skype user lol been a while, would probably need to start a new account and find my earpieace.  but I'm sure I'll throw up a few idea's and feel free to pm me on here if you have anything to ask of me :)

anywho I'm really looking forward to having a working ASR wallet :D and will keep trying to stir up some interest in it :D

I'm broke as can be right now or I'd be offering a bounty for a good webpage if I could afford it

I think you have also to download the blockchain from the source on page#1 and making an astrocoin.conf..
delete your astrocoinfolder (backup wallet.dat!), copy the downloaded blockchain and conf file into this empty folder and also
your backuped wallet.dat and then restart the client and wait

Soopy!! right on man thanks !!

have you looked at the x11 algo?  I tried it for the first time on a coin today, 3x the hashpower and only 2/3 the heat  (so people can run them easier in the summer and easier on electro bill)

could make a nice addition to Astro

If we are to switch to X11 then we'd have to switch to a new blockchain which will need all coins to be Swapped to AstroCoin V2 is everyone ready for that? :)

We are reviving Astrocoin!

We need the community to help us out!

The blockchain is stuck and we need people to download the wallet (0.9.0 ONLY!) and add these Nodes:

(Important! keep the wallet OPEN for the next few days!)

astrocoin.no-ip.biz
coin-base.info
188.187.61.58
85.25.197.186
94.153.88.241
92.124.127.124
81.65.188.29
118.209.90.143

Open HELP then Debug window then go to Console and type addnode Nodes add

We don't need many more nodes on 0.9.0 only about 10 or so!

Expect price to recover as soon as the blockchain is up and running smoothly again!

I think a move to X11 might be worth it... lol people who live in hotter places can still mine through the summer heat :) and it's a bit easier on the power bill for everyone... I'd be into a coin swap to 2.0 ha but first I need to get these 24 asr to show up ;)

I'm not sure what to do with all this

ok how will be be receiving our new coins eh? If we have some coins in an exchange for trade will we need to switch them out somehow? Or will the exchange manage that on their own?

I know polo agreed to hold xbc until their switch over, not sure about coined up.  Ha if their wallet ever comes, and if their wallet takes too much longer it opens a real chance for ASR to pick up some followers :) as long as we at least have a syncing wallet :)

so many possibilities with a name like astrocoin... I picture a jet black wallet with stars that twinkle (if possible) and our bright blue astro emblem would pop nice against a black back drop :)

I'm trying to find some funds to help donate to our cause

If we are to switch to X11 then we'd have to switch to a new blockchain which will need all coins to be Swapped to AstroCoin V2 is everyone ready for that? :)

[...]

why not, but how we will manage the coin-swap?
Maybe through an exchange or how is it usually managed?

If i have coins in trade lets say coined up and say i go back out to the wilderness cuz  live in alaska. I might miss the coinswap. If my coins are @ coinedup during the coinswap will it be automatic? Dont get me wrong im all for x11 sounds great for mining, however what if i miss the coinswap and then all my current astros are worthless or i lose coins in the process. Im not sure how this will work because ive never done it before

We are currently doing this for many coins so you should be feeling fine about it. :)

Also yes if you leave your coins at Coinedup they will automatically get swapped.

Hi,
ok great so we have to decide what is the nicer option.
I think doing this through an exchange is better or does
the script automatically swap the coins in your wallet ( i guess not?^^).
Maybe we should make a deadline which is long enough (2 weeks or 4 weeks
or i dont know..), therefore it could be a good idea to make
a website before, so that there is a location, which is up to date
and which informs you about as example the coin-swap deadline.

And what is planned with the POS-Modus, as i remembering you
planned a POW/POS Hybrid, which is a fine idea, i think
setting the stake interest should be not too high (a small
percentage should be enough, so that is interesting enough
for new buyers and not only for the stake holders).

lets see what the rest of the community is saying :)

best regards

I'm confused about why there needs to be a coin swap. Can't you just include both algorithms in the client, and switch them past block X?

(Have a look at AndroidsToken to see how much of a headache a coin swap solution was.)

We are doing it smoothly at BEE mate , having both algorithms on the client is a much complicated process and I've tried that before and will need a complete client update.

True it's quite a headache but worth the trouble. :)

The exchange can help us with the swap where all the coins are sent to the exchange and swapped thereafter.

mine has always been 1-0 hours behind, but still works fine.... there should be a fix coming very shortly :)

if it's more than that behind someone posted a newer blockchain on here a few days ago... it helped me get mine past were it was stuck (a few weeks behind)

Im not sure if i understand it right, but means it that when you make a new client
with both algorithms, we dont need an exchange, just a client update so that
if someone just forgot about Astrocoin can restore them later?

right on and thanks, I got myself too deep on a coin a few weeks ago and lost quite a chunk when the dev flaked, then again with NJA going to sh!t so I have nothing to offer for dev donations at the moment... but I'm doing my best to come up with something, for when the wallets up and pool is back up.

I assume coinbase is still down? is there another pool I'm missing?

15 weeks behind..... stopped update.

Guys, try to use new wallet I posted.
Maybe it will work without copying of someone's blocks data?

Please.

So very good coin, let's try to make it rock!

Thanks.
Lol I spent my time to make it closer to latest BTC too - miners, please try my daemon how it works now?

P.S. - all features of AstroCoin are saved - it's copy with new interface and faster, secure (openssl-1.0.1h).

Try and write how its works.

Thanks again

I am confirming Astrocoin works now.

I am behind a few days because there are two threads.

This thread is a bit old and lesser used.
For people looking for updated info on Astrocoin, go here,

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425367.msg7651123#msg7651123 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=425367.msg7651123#msg7651123)

That post has all of cheetah3's links for the updated working Astrocoin, peers.dat and blockchain.

I see the tanks are fueled now, ignition in...... ;)

would anyone be interested in forming a team to "takeover" the takeover?
Or at least help with the development
and promoting ASR..

MY main ideas are: new website, hit up the major exchanges, making the currency useful outside of exchanges, and of-course updating the code and maintaining it

Yes totally :)
I can make a website if anyone has hosting space!
lets make a takeover from the takeover and i am a big science fiction fan.

let's do something!
