Title: my next card
Post by: goldap on July 25, 2019, 12:41:01 AM
hoping to add a new card to my rig, i like MSI's style so want to pick an MSI card but cant pick between the two what do you guys think?

msi gtx 1070 ti gaming
msi gtx 1660 ti gaming

i already have 2 1070 tis on my rig but is the 1660 ti better for mining? like use less power but still good hashrate?
or just stick to a 1070 ti im not sure what to pick

1660ti is better at hash/watt.

that means 1660ti can be used longer.

but the 1660 is only 6gb while 1070 is 8gb
6gb isnt going to last long in mining right?
like 4gb cards now are useless soon 6gb will be too but have no idea when, might be useless in 2 months from now who knows
the 6gb is the thing most putting me off from getting a 1660 ti  i want it to at least be future proof

DAG file size only applies to ETH?  so i could mine RVN or non ETH  forever with 6gb card and not worry?

ETH will die before DAG size gets to 6gb.

But i totally advice you against investing into mining. Your profit will be next to 0 if you have 0,08$ per kW (taxes included). Above 0,10$ per kW (again without taxes) youŽll be losing money.
