Title: Ledger S Nano: "Bitcoin and Ethereum apps required" error message...? Post by: The Sceptical Chymist on July 27, 2019, 07:03:53 PM I've got a Ledger S Nano, and I'm trying to install dogecoin onto the device, and I keep getting the error "Bitcoin and Ethereum apps required" message when I try to do it. I've already got the bitcoin wallet installed, and I've tried installing the ethereum one (even though I don't plan on using it and don't own any ETH).

On my experience, it might happen if the application for BTC and ETH are outdated.

I once had this issue too. Then I uninstalled all the apps in my ledger and installed only Bitcoin and ETH app. It worked for me. You can try the same. I hope it will work.edit: LOL so many respose in split seconds :-P Anyway, let us know if it worked. I suppose you already checked the version for an update btw. Those apps include : Quote Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), XRP (XRP), EOS (EOS), Stellar (XLM), Cardano (ADA), Tron (TRX), Monero (XMR), IOTA (MIOTA), NEO (NEO), Ontology (ONT), Tezos (XTZ), VeChain (VET), Waves (WAVES), Aeternity (AE), Aion (AION), Ark (ARK), Banano (BAN), Cosmos (ATOM), Decred (DCR), Factom (FCT), FIC (FIC), GroestlCoin (GRS), Hycon (HYC), Icon (ICX), Kin (KIN), Lisk (LSK), Nano (NANO), Nos, Particl (PART), QRL (QRL), Rise (RISE). We also have second group called Bitcoin / Ethereum dependent apps, and in order to install those app user first need to install BTC or ETH app. Dogecoin is dependent on BTC app, and after you install BTC app there should not be a problem with Dogecoin. Went to sleep for the night, but before I did I uninstalled all the apps I had on it and then reinstalled bitcoin and ETH, followed by the other ones I wanted--and it did indeed work! The only issue I have with this is that I don't really need the ETH wallet installed and don't think I can uninstall it. That's not a huge issue, though. I probably ought to have read more about the Ledger, but I didn't figure it would have that kind of "arrangement". Good stuff to know, and I'm still pretty happy with my Ledger. Beats the damn Keepkey, which is going to be used as a paperweight or something. At least I got a nice little pouch with it.Edit: I'm going to lock the thread now since I got my answer. |
