or choose from official Bitcoin website

PS
ALWAYS backup up your priv key/seed on safe place

I still consider Electrum one of the best wallet, it's light-weight and you hold the private key. However, lately, Electrum has been targeted by hackers and criminals as well. So if you wanted to used Electrum, just be careful as well and download the apps on their official website only.

Exodus? Nah, I wouldn't trust this software.

You may want to try to visit this board: Wallet software (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=37.0).

I like using the hardware wallet to store my tokens rather than exchange wallets nor web wallets. I think the hardware wallets are much safer than any other wallet.

Every user of electrum should do that, but unfortunately some are bit lazy without checking the legitimacy of the app, even I downloaded electrum from their official website, I always verify its signatures if they are really from the devs. Coz just you now, websites can be hacked as well as the file link can be edited there, hackers can do such things and make things like its originally normal and legit.

Exodus? Nah, I wouldn't trust this software.
You can still trust them for smaller amounts and micro spending, but for storing large sum of assets,? just use HW or electrum.

ecoWell if you are out out of funds to purchase a hardware wallet to store your cryptocurrencies then it's best to use cryptocurrency wallet that is very popular and famous like the blockchain wallet application. The reason why i recommend the blockchain application is because it is widely trusted and it's safe to use as i have never had any issues while using it. Also, you don't want to store your cryptocurrencies on some recent cryptocurrency wallet as some of them are scams.

Bookmark is the key.

Like what I've expected base on the title, everyone would be suggesting electrum.

However, you can also prefer some wallets on the list --> https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

If you have an old PC or laptop, or you can afford to buy one for cheap (a used one will work too, just make sure to wipe it), then you can create your own cold storage setup which is as good or even better than hardware wallet, and only slightly more harder/inconvenient to use. Electrum has a great guide how to do it - http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage.html

Make sure to verify the signatures on all the software that you will use - the OS, the wallet and anything else that you'll have to use.

There are a lot of wallets available for the storage of your Bitcoin. Electrum, mycelium and others provide some level of safe storage for your Bitcoin. But for the safety of your Bitcoin, it all depends on you the person using the wallet.  You should find some time to research for the various Bitcoin wallets available and their vulnerabilities.

I am mainly using 1 Private key for my daily life transactions. I use it on my phone and in my desktop pc. and I have another on my offline storage (Not gonna say where) but that is like my storage of future gold. I guess all I have to do is check if something new protocol is launched or not. Like I don't know if I have to change the bitcoin address when the lightning network will be available.

There are actually a lot of storage for Crypto. The most basic wallet that you can use is MyEtherWallet and it will really teach you a lot of things. You can also read some topics in the Beginners and Newbies Threads which really helped a lot when i was starting to learn about the forum. Be careful on using exchanges as storage of Crypto because you can never be too sure if it will last long.

I don't see people talking about using more than one place to store cryptos
I prefer to diversify, and have my coins in mobile, desktop wallets, a little on in exchange to trade easily...
I think  this way is safer

If you don't have hardware wallet right now, try to put your money on a trusted exchange like binance but make sure to buy hardwallet if you have spare money especially if you have more money to keep for. In my place we have our local good wallet aside from the hardwallet, but again if you don't have the control with the keys its too risky to depend on that.

Not your keys not your coins.

Speaking of electrum this is the official website:

https://electrum.org/#download

So just be sure to download it from there so that you won't get phished.

For hardware wallet:

Crypto wallet is the safest place to store your crypto; there are different types of crypto wallets available 'hot wallet' and 'cold wallet' are the basic differentiating types to store digital assets safely.

I can recommend you some desktop wallet or mobile wallet. Just make sure you always do backup in case there's a problem arise in your gadget, you still have your funds. Because if you didn't guess it's time so say good bye to your funds...

If you don't plan to spend in the near future, paper wallets are the cheapest and best option.
The wallets never store the coins, the coins are always on the blochchain, The wallets store, in a way or another, the private keys, the only necessary thing for spending the coins.

Please make sure you make the wallet in a safe manner (offline computer and so on), there are plenty of tutorials.
You can either use something like bitaddress (downloaded, offline, and make sure you add plenty of randomness there), then you print that or write by hand (just make sure you write it right) or, you can use Electrum. With Electrum you'll generate a seed, which is normal words, and you write that down together with a few addresses for that seed (it could be easier because you won't need printer)

Deciding what method of storing your coins you are going to use, are just as important as deciding what percentage of your coins are going to be stored on those different methods. You might want to opt for several different methods and then split your coins into short-term and long-term coins, based on your needs.

If you use coins regularly, then chose a method where you have quick access to your coins and if you are going to store coins for longer periods without accessing it, then you should put more coins in cold storage methods. <Offline Electrum wallets / Paper wallets>

Go to https://electrum.org/ the official site or download it from the Github site.  ;)

Diversification of places to store crypto is really important to me:)
Actually: Ledger, few desktop wallets, few mobile, and also hardware wallet from quickx (something like card connected with mobile).

Yes this is just a simple question but for me an important matter to be resolve soon. You know how much important having a good and secured wallet in cryptomarket, and if you don't have any control with your wallet then don't expect to be secured forever. I used Hardwallet now and its good to have the security everyday knowing that your coins is safe. Local wallet with a good system are also my choice, coins.ph to be exact. Exchange wallet is ok, but only the trusted exchange.

Electrum bitcoin wallet is great for beginners and 'oldtimers'
and in my humble opinion one of the safest wallets so far.
Many people who are in crypto space for long time share my opinion.

It has desktop and a mobile version.

Regarding new and more  privacy focused wallets,
I hear many good reviews for Samourai wallet.
It is still work in progress, but hey even Bitcoin is :)

In the end, best thing is to do your own research
and decide for yourself, but always remember one thing:

I can definitely recommend cold, offline storage. Your coins are the safest in the cold wallets.

On a major exchange.

I appreciate the risks involved in holding coins on an exchange but I need them in a hot wallet for trading.

I use electrum as a place to store my bitcoin if I intend to store it for long term. Indeed, we will have an uncomfortable when we choose a custodial to store our asset in large amounts. The hacked thing will always haunt although there is some exchanges who afford to replace our assets but we will always have a fear when they don't replace it.

However, electrum wallet can hacked too when we are rash in making an access to our wallet. The point is there is no safe place to keep our assets in any place. But there are only two choices, give credence our assets to other people and let them take care of it or keep our assets well by ourselves and try hard not to be careless when we accessing to our wallet.

I am storing most of my cryptos in hardware wallet, They're mostly offline. Hardware wallet is vital for storing large sum of cryptos. If you want to transact safely and don't have a hardware wallet, I'd recommend you using Ubuntu or any Linux OS setuped as dual boot or live usb.

If the ability to use a hardware wallet is not suitable for a person, then I still choose MEW and Coinomi, where there are enough good opportunities to protect your funds.  First of all, you need to monitor the use of these wallets, because personally the owner is more guilty of losing his coins.

I wouldn't personally never store any bitcoin on a Web wallet.
You trust them not to steal your bitcoin.
NOT YOUR KEYS. NOT YOUR BITCOINS.
What's the point in staking something that is not even yours?

Never store your bitcoins where you are not the only owner of your private keys.

I would like to answer your question based on your needs. For me there are three things that a certain crypto holder needs to consider if you are going to choose a wallet that suites according to your needs.

In most cases we are  always looking for the best possible security features that we could get and the best option for that is a hardware wallet.
Best hardware wallets that you can probably consider are:

Trezor and Ledger Hardware Wallets. Now for me basically this wallets purpose are for hardly storing your coins that you are not spending each time.

Now if you are a day trader or have been spending your coins everyday and you need to have an easy access to it by the comfort of your home you can possibly be using a desktop wallet.

The best options  are:
Electrum and bitcoin core.

There are other wallet types that you can use but I think the last relatively safe wallet would be your mobile wallet. When you are the type of person who are always on the go then this will be the best option for you..

The best options are:
Electrum and Mycelium

For ERC20 tokens I always use ImToken as a place to store my tokens, I have long used it,
but to store my Bitcoins more believe in a hardware wallet, such as Nano Ledger, or Electrum which is very simple to use.

how long did you use it ? is your coins still fine ? im curious because i never heard of this wallet before  . for erc20 coins  , the most recomended wallets are mew  . mew is tested for years to be safe and ill always prefer this over the other wallets that arent popular  .

There are many kinds of wallets such as cold storage, desktop wallets and online wallets, etc. Online wallets or hosted web wallets is also good for usage but it depends on what kind of cryptocurrency you are using. If you are using erc-20 tokens then myetherwallet is a good choice and I have been using it for 2 years already without any problems. If you are using bitcoin I highly recommend blockchain.info wallets, its very easy to use with lower transaction fees.

Since the beginning of joining the crypto currency, I have faithfully used crypto currency wallets online like in mew. In my opinion, Mew is very comfortable to use and so far I have not been a victim of hacking crypto currency wallets. Any wallet that you choose to use saves your crypto currency, the most important thing is that you have to make sure all security procedures are running well. You must ensure that you carry out all security procedures carefully so that important information on your account cannot be misused.

Same with me here. I can easily lose a usb drive that contains all the files I need to live. A hard wallet will probably not last a a year to me. I'd rather be storing my coins in an installed wallet in my phone because after all I am not going to lose a phone since its constantly being used everyday. For ERC Tokens, its just the MEW, neverminding updating the browsers all the time
