Bitcointalkcoin (TALK) is implementing a blockchain swap. The swap enables the coin to start on a fresh chain (instant sync times) , introduces all advancements in blockchain technology since the start  of the old chain and allows streamlining development and maintenance of the project by keeping at par with our new maintainer's customized source code.

Taking over maintenance is BlockchainMechanic and the new blockchain will have the following parameters:-

Infrastructure

We will need to get two good reliable VPSes. I use Crown Cloud  (https://crowncloud.net/classic_openvz.php) and that would be ideal. The cost will be 2* $70 for a year.

Software

At launch binaries are available for Windows/Linux and Mac, although there has been having trouble getting the latest version of Bitcoin (on which our source is based) to build a mac dmg. I will be working with the bitcoin core team here :- Mac build progress (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/16369) to resolve it. An Android version is also in the works , but may take longer.
 
Technologies

I intend to begin releasing updates that will integrate techniologies and functionality that i have been working on , such as cross-chain messaging which uses teh TOTEM protocol. (All of which is in my soon to be written white-paper)  :D when i have completed at least the android build

Once users have checked out their balances and confirmed their accuracy, i will release the final wallet with a checkpoint and we can get going, i have setup a  block explorer :- EXPLORER (http://192.3.83.87:3001/) so users can check their balances and i've also contacted fairglu so that the other explorer is updated.

To retrieve your coins:-

Make a back up of your old wallet.dat, they pop a copy of it in the new data directory. Start the new wallet and your balance should match. Pm me if you have any trouble or find me on discord

With the chain moving steadily towards stability (We need more stakers!). My focus has now gine more towards the development of the technologies i have been reseaching. While i can't make any formal announcements , i am currently in talks with three other projects in a bid to begin building the cross-chain messaging platform.

In order to participate, you should have been holding coins from the older chain, they were swapped 1:1 onto a new chain. The benefits of the swap are that the new chain is smaller allowing faster sync, backed by more advanced and robust code, can be maintained easily and allows us to move into a rebranding and introduction of new technologies.

The swap has already occured so in order to get coins, you have to go on to nova exchange and buy or look for a user willing to part with their coins.

I'm on/off ing the client seems to move, but then hangs.

If you are having trouble syncing , please download the latest release. Also when reporting issues, perhaps fleshing out the report with details such as OS, system specs etc.

The network is still small, only 9 regular nodes.

First of all download the latest release from the github.
Add these nodes to your bitcointalkcoin.conf file:

Delete everything else in your Appdata directory and resync the client.

Should be at the block 16283 rn.

Hi all !

For as long as the network is this small (fell to 6 nodes), we will always have latency issues. One user solves a block, but by the time the announcement reaches the other end of the network, another block may have been generated there. I've managed to get the chain moving however we need to expand the node list.

I'll try get more vps nodes running if possible.

The Nova Exchange wallet is under maintenance, are they doing the swap now or updating the wallet with a new release already on the new blockchain?

Both i think, it's always better if everyone pushes them to move faster, so open a ticket.

What are the mining "threads" controls for and how would we use them?  I rarely have mined with a wallet.

Those are obsolete now and will be removed, theey were meant to help with mining the first 10000 blocks which were PoW to help bootstrap staking... but working with another user we managed to whittle down the PoW blocks to less that 250 in total. So @ 5 TALK per block, we only added less that 1250 coins in order  to get PoS reliably working. I consider this a massive success  ;D

I do too. I tried staking 2 years about with TALK but was staking about ten other coins and couldn't devote the time to it. The old wallet was one of the most problematic of all traded coins.  Then staking for the last year with it anyway, so I know how great this upgrade is.

In order for the planned crosschain messaging to work , I have approached several teams so that we build a network. We will see who wants in.

Great to see TALK getting some upgrades, one of the old school first generation shitcoins,  unflushable!

We now have a confirmed android build, still ironing out the issues.

The wallet is a FULL node, so you can stake from your android device. One of the reasons i am still keeping it in house is to try nd figure out if SPV staking can be achieved. Such a breakthrough would be game changing for a stake coin.
