Title: [DISCUSSION] The Story of your Username
Post by: crwth on July 29, 2019, 10:21:25 AM
Yes, I'm back at it again, I'm the one who created this topic, Experiences of a Bitcointalk Member (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153084.msg51426742#msg51426742).

I'm curious about what's the story with your username? I'm interested in this because a lot of people have a background or an origin story with what their username is and what it has become now. Did it somehow affect you with how you turn out to be? Are you making different names on the internet for your distinct personality? Because online, you are different and IRL, you are just an ordinary person who lives out their lives?

My story with my username, crwth, is a bit cheesy. I remember the time when I was still in college, and I had a crush. She was the type of girl who is smart and definitely smarter than me in terms of academic achievements. She was our Valedictorian, after all. Anyway, of course, I had tried texting with here, getting to know her, here and there. At that time, it was only her that I kept thinking about so being a gamer and all, I believe there is a lot of people did this, use or connect some nickname or codename to your username that reminds you of her. I can't think of something that could hide my feelings and instead asked her for a unique word, and she said "crwth." So upon searching, it was a Celtic instrument, and what made it unique is that it has no vowels. I liked it.

What's yours?

Maybe this is too much to ask? I don't know, maybe members can share on what grounds they could've picked or it's too personal to tell?

Let's find out in a matter of weeks. I'll be locking this if no one is interested.

Here's mine: I wanted to start with Bitcoin, and wanted to keep it away from my real life. So: Google > random name generator > Loyce Valenzuela > Sounds like Venezuela, sounds good, I like it!
After 4.5 years, it kinda grew on me, and somehow many people online know me as "Loyce" now :D

Only later I figured out it's a girl's name :P Google images tells me it's mainly used by black girls, which looks even less like my real appearance.

I don't remember which random name generator I used.

Are you sure this is topic for meta?
I think that soon or later admins or mods will move this topic somewhere else.
Any way, I don't have reason to ''hide'' meaning or story about my username.
Daniel is one of the derivatives of my name and it has a very interesting meaning in Hebrew: ''God is judging'' :)
Also, I like this character from the Bible.
91 marks the year 1991, which has a very special meaning in my life.
That year was very difficult in my life and after losing everything in the war, I had to start over, so it also marks a new beginning for me.

~snip So: Google > random name generator > Loyce Valenzuela > Sounds like Venezuela, sounds good, I like it!
I haven't thought about that. That's one perfect way of knowing what type of username you could use online. It's my first encounter knowing the name Loyce and didn't expect to encounter it too. I didn't know that black girls are named Loyce. I quickly searched what pictures would show in Google searching for Loyce Valenzuela, and it showed men and women. Lol.

Isn't it a part of the forum that could be discussed? If it moves, then it's okay for me but I think it could stay.

I did a quick search in google too "God is judging name" and in the pictures, there is the name Daniel. Which is nice also. Hmm, maybe it's close to you too. A Biblical name if you will? For sure you are better now after so many years have passed. Awesome name. Thanks for sharing too.

Personally, it's better suited for an Off-topic thread. Though, this wouldn't be one of those spammy OT threads. :)
