Title: We Love Bitcoin symbol
Post by: ChiBitCTy on July 29, 2019, 05:25:39 PM
Pretty random one here, but I wanted to know for a few reasons if anyone knows the history of this symbol. Was this a business at one point, or just an old school symbol? I’ve seen this symbol in a yBitcoin magazine with nothing other than businesses using paid advertising space, which lead me to believe it may have been used by a business at some point.

Anyone familiar with its genesis?

As far as I can remember there is a facebook group who uses this symbol like 2-3 years ago

https://www.facebook.com/WeAllLoveBitcoin/

But that's about it, they just post all news related to bitcoin and crypto in general.

The stories are conflicting about the logo but I think the following:
The first symbol of this coin was in the form of a gold coin containing the words "BC" from satoshi wallet.

Then some users decided to add the letter "T" to the word "BTC".
I think the first designer of this logo is this user@bitboy (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2062), you can find more information on this topic More Bitcoin logos, buttons, and also some other graphics (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631.0;all) & Bitcoin Graphics in Vector Format (Illustrator) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1756.0).

Even if he is not designed the logo with its current form, he has designed some details.

The 'we love bitcoins' comes from the 'I Love NY' campaign, is just a copy of that campaign who started because NY had some bad reputation and gov decided to create that campaign to  wash people brains, the original logo was:

And from that campaign tons of campaigns started with the same slogan 'I love X'

I was also curious how old this picture is since it is around as long as i can remember. The picture is added back in 2011 to the promotional graphics page over at the Bitcoin wiki (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Promotional_graphics). I think the source is here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631.0).

Symbol of Bitcoin always reminded me from the Japanese anime One Piece. It shows similarities with letter "B" that currency used as "Beri" on one piece anime that's why it's  very intriguing if Satoshi Nakamoti got basis on that logo.

You easily can find dozens of Facebook groups using this image, it's also popular on other social networks, forums, bloggers probably also using it often. But as you see from posts above, this image is much older than 2-3 years. It was created in early years of Bitcoin.
There is some other Bitcoin promotional images that can be found on Bitcoin Wiki:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Promotional_graphics
And as I understand these images is royalty free and everyone can use it.

It maybe just a fanart or something that emphasizing his love for bitcoin. Its the same as any other things like i love pizza or whatsoever. I found the logo very simple and i guess there are no particular event regarding that one. Just a guy who is fond of bitcoin and made some arrangements with it.

The symbol signifies bitcoin as a logo for easy identification as a currency. The b represents bitcoin dollar. No other motive than easy identification of it

It doesn't look for a symbol that it was ever used from any business. To my eyes, it seems a little bit unprofessional for such a use.
Maybe it was just created from fans and community members in general in order to promote their love for bitcoin.

The main source of the logo above may come from one of the links above, I am very sure if the logo above is from a bitboy thread in 2010

Interesting so this is where it all started and this is way back 2010 this will make a good design for a t-shirt if you are going to go for a T-shirt business this logo is a good design to sell for Bitcoin lovers in your area.

I personally have not seen such a logo before. If You want to use it for your business, you need to check it for intellectual property. If it is just a logo created by a person who loves bitcoin and does not claim copyright, then You can easily use it in your business.

I think this information is also quite interesting if you can know and be clear, because after all, this is also an unforgettable history. because I myself am blind to this but I can only listen to the story that actually happened.

At least information about cryptocurrency today sounds in almost all the news and this is the merit of bitcoin.  Today, it may even be a trend or a sign of a good mindset for a person who has knowledge in this field of activity, not to mention the real business in the cryptocurrency market.
