Title: Dex exchanges are safe?
Post by: Rehmanchoudhary5 on August 02, 2019, 06:33:24 AM
I've been using dex exchanges like ddex, switcheo. They asked to connect wallet through metamask or trust wallet, I'm an android user so I'm using trust wallet to use these exchanges, i wanted to ask when we connect our wallet to a specific exchange is there any possibility to stole funds anyhow?

If you have to use dex then you must be ready to connect your wallet, but to some extent,it is safe.

As long as you keep your private key and phrase and password well I think you don't need to worry, what we need to worry about is when you open a phishing website that is almost similar to the original exchange, so before you trade on any DEX exchange, make sure you see website address correctly, I am a metamask user and until now my wallet is still safe because every time I trade on a DEX exchange, I always see the address details correctly.

If we talk about the possibility of being stolen, the answer is there. Because I have experienced losing coins when exchanging again, and my friend also lost coins in their wallet while still connected to an exchange, meaning that the possibility to be stolen is clearly there.

I think the security of the wallet is safe as long as you don't give someone else's private key, DDEX data or something else like Exchange, so there's no need to hesitate, with that.

If you enter a private key on the site, then theoretically there is the possibility of interception (theft).
Well, if you go through MetaMask or Ledger - it’s safe.

I think that the DEX is much safer than our usual exchangers. It has long been proven. No one can hack your wallet. If you have not lost somewhere your private key on the Internet. So you can safely use.

In this matter it's totally safe because when a normal exchange got compromised hacker get access to all users data and funds but in dex users owns private key.

Never enter your private key even if the DEX demands it. It is the most common thing which people usually forget, giving away your private key meaning you have given away the authority to someone else to own all the funds inside the address. There's still a chance that the DEX will log your privkey and save it up to their database.
To note, only use popular DEX that already trusted by the community. However speaking of security DEX exchange hardly and rarely being hacked by anyone because of the decentralized nature, the only thing you need to be aware of is how you keep your own private key.

It can be steal by someone mate if you click some of the phishing site, like importing your password or private key.
But if you are careful I guess there's nothing to be afraid of. But if you are using MEW it is safe and Metamask too.
And one of the DEX which is safe are Idex, Coinexchange and Waves.

The dex's you connect your wallet with cannot steal your funds since you are not providing your private keys to them. That can only happen if you entered your private keys directly to a phishing site like what happened to many at etherdelta before.

By the way, other than metamask and trust wallet, you can also try the Equal multi-chain web3 wallet to connect to all dex's (including binance dex).

If you connect your wallet through a metamask, then you have nothing to fear, nothing will happen to your funds, but if you connect through a private key, you can lose all your tokens by visiting the phishing site.

As far as the Decentralized exchanges go, there is a lot of advantage over centralized exchanges like safety from hacking, no downtime, high level of privacy, etc.

I don't think it's going to take over anytime soon but I sure will be using them for trading, but not right now because of the low liquidity and volume right now.

It depends which exchange do you mean. Off course we can not say all DEX's are safe. But I trust with Etherdelta. I never experience any bad issue.

Not all DEX is safe. Be cautious to use open source DX that has a good reputation like Binance DEx or Crypto-Bridge. I have used both, in terms of security and trade volume, both are good. I don't trust DEX with low to no volume and you should avoid too.

Not every DEX is really a DEX...
They can just turn off your account when they want.

Never keep your coins on any exchange for long time, DEX or CEX.

Decentralised exchanges are safer than centralised exchanges, because DEXes are not having your data, you do not need to take a verification to trade there. Moreover, you still have a full control of your tokens by trading on DEX exchanges, which plays a big role for me.

Of course, there are risk especially that you are connecting your private keys into it and it is the code for anyone to get an access with your wallet but with my experience and using the same wallet to different dex like ddex fdelta and edelta I havent experience anything like getting my tokens lost so in my end I believe that it is safe.

Among DEX exchanges currently available in this market, ForkDelta is the decentralized exchange that I often use the most because every transaction requires users to pay a fixed fee and that makes me feel safe to trade here. Now a lot of decentralized exchanges are launched but generally, Forkdelta is still the best choice for everyone because this exchange has never been hacked.

DEX exchanges are even safer as long as you keep your private key safe. You don’t need to give the control of your assets to a third party; you do not store your assets on the exchange; you do not expose your personal data. DEXes cannot be hacked, and if they somehow do, which will be because of some mistake in the smart contract (which hasn’t been seen yet), you do not lose your money simply because they are not stored at the exchange. In the worst case scenario, you may lose only the small amount deposited in the smart contract but you keep most of your assets safe in a wallet. For this purpose, you can always use Ledger Nano, Trezor, MetaMask etc. but make sure to remember the 12 random words.
If the exchange is indeed decentralized, you can enjoy safe trading, e.g. check https://app.weidex.market/  (https://app.weidex.market/)

Title: Re: Dex exchanges are safe?

I think dex exchanges are safe, but that depends on that exchange itself because if they are serious with their website, they will protect the site from the attacker. They will use many ways to prevent the attacker, and they will take care of their website so the member can feel comfortable to trade in their site. But maybe there are dex exchanges which cannot protect their site, and I don't think that is because of they don't want to defend their site, maybe it's because they have a hole which they even don't know if the hole exists.

There is still risks as the decentralized exchange can be hacked. But it is safer than a centralized exchange. There was a hack of an Ethereum decentralized exchange named Etherdelta in 2017 because a DNS was hacked and people were divert to another IP address. Nothing is 100 percent safe.

Hmm, safe till the owner of the exchange will remain trusted and if you will not put your private key in a phishing site. Always try to use popular dex exchange and only keep balance on your wallet that you will want to trade on the exchange. You should not put your holdings private key into any dex site or any other place. try to keep safe ownself. Thanks

Safe but not 100%.

DEX can be phished or can be redirected and as we all know that we need to input privatekeys anytime we do tend to make trades. So if you aren't aware
on the said redirected phishing site then you would really lost up those funds yet you have inputted the PK of yours.

DEx is quite safe if you use such as metamask to connect your wallet and not directly used your private keys to import your account because if the DEx was hacked it maybe compromise your private keys or other info that you use when you log in. unlike if you are using metamask you will not expose your account like it was when you just directly importing your address via private keys.

But DEX is something like buzz word, Binance DEX is a good example, it is really a DEX?

Safety in DEX largely depends on your browsing habit and how you handle the site and your trade. Most of the functions are done within your browser and transfer initiates from your browser ad-don only when you confirm. The wallets from the private keys too are shown from your own side unless you credit the balance to the site.

avoid new DEX, from new ICO projects or those that do not yet have a high trade in their exchanges. it will be very risky. and another, always use a new wallet to access DEX. which of course do not use that there are many assets in your wallet.

I think it's normal for a decentralized exchange to have a low volume because less users are only using them .

Most trader still prefer to trade on a cex type exchange  . But your still right that it's better to avoid newer exchanges just to avoid any problems  because we won't know if they are shady or what   .

Using existing wallet to trade on a dex  exchange isn't a problem but don't just use your private keys for safety reasons

Keeping altcoins on the mentioned exchange is the not best and safe way of storing BTC  but you shouldn't keep it long. Hackers can hack an exchange account, when it would like to happen, there is no way to get back your account. Perhaps, DEX can be safe, but l think not all of them are safe and useful. But since l used it, there wouldn't be any problem for trading purposes. You must be careful about phishing sites, that means they can not steal or do something without your permission. If you don't give your private keys or your particular information, there is nothing to worry about it.

Yes DEX are safe when you connect with metamask or trust wallet.  I was impressed with DDEX 2.0 , it has support for other blockchain like TRON. Using DEX poses risk only when you keep importing private key, but when you connect wallet via web 3 services, you are good to go.

So you need to do your research before you using any dex. You can find as much information as you want on google.
But, use disposable wallets for your own safety. I often try to keep myself safe by doing so.

DEX are safe provided you are not importing private key. The fact that you connect wallet through metamask or trust wallet makes it safer.

You should be mindful of where to connect your wallet to, using your private key. There are lots of phishing sites out there, including some DEXes. So msr times, I try to confirm if such dex is listed on CMC. If it is not, then I might not use it, except I conform it from a reliable source.

I strongly agree, it's the habit that determines whether or not it's safe when we trade on a platform. both on dex and on exchange if careless habits will make it unsafe. keep in mind that even a tight guard can be broken even more that is not guarded

Not every dex 100% safe. It was a few stories with fishing sites that replaced real dexes. IMHO you must be very careful in crypto even on dexes.
It's about the DNS got hijacked by the scammer and the scammer was putting the redirect link to the fake site but as long as the people have bookmarked it and that will be fine.
Those stories are not related to the hot wallet of the dex was getting hijacked by the scammer. and it's safe dude.
You can't blame it and i never seen any stories that the dex was loosing a lot caused by the hack.
It's more than 80% dex are safe.

Hi Rehmanchoudhary5, thanks for your great question. In my opinion, I think Dex is good. But you need to choose the dex which have good reputation like Binance Dex or Forkdelta. Dont trade in some weird Dex which no one know, because they may scam your money. But if you need a good privacy exchange, you should choose Cex. They can protect your funds better. Some recommend exchange are Binance, Huobi, OKEx, Kucoin and Citex.

Good to know that you got your money back. Haven't used that exchange anyway. But with dex, I believe it is pretty safe to use as long as you are keeping your private keys with you. And make sure that your coins are not staying that long with them. Just do the trading and withdraw whatever you can.

Decentralized exchanges are the most secured place to trade. Make sure the DEX you want to trade on accept Metamask. Reason is because metamask detects cloned exchange and give warning on what you are about to do. You will also get a prompt on metamask to verify the transaction.

This is my personal experience, that not all Dex exchanges are always safe. I once lost my funds in 2018 for around $ 2,500. At that time I didn't really know what dex exchanges were like, I just understood the basics. After I forgot my account and I didn't read further. I click OK, after that my funds in the form of tokens disappear immediately. That's why I don't want to trade anymore at Forkdelta.
Which means you imported your private key to a cloned version of Forkdelta. Using metamask on DEX is the safest way.

There are many types and platform of DEX exchanges so far. And the security will depend on each platform, how they create, control. manage, and also maintain their security. So far, DEX is chosen because it is decentralized, with no need to fill KYC or complicated rules and regulation. However, we must be also more careful when going to invest or staking certain coins in the DEX, analyze whether they are safe or having good security systems or not.

Title: Re: Dex exchanges are safe?

Currently, DEX is quite safe because most of DEX have made rules about KYC implementation to withdraw more money as well as to ensure the level of security for users.
I am currently quite relieved when using IDEX and DDEX, feeling very safe.

I don't think the DEX exchange is a problem because until now, ForkDelta is the only non-centralized exchange that I trust the most in this market. In my opinion your token will only be in ForkDelta and is clearly displayed because each transaction has a lot of confirmation so the confusion is impossible. Personally, I have been using it for more than 2 years and until now there has been no problem with me

I used to believe decentralized exchanges were truly safe. Then I remembered how people lost a lot of money in assets at etherdelta around 2017. Truth is as long as you are connected to the internet, nothing is safe. Just keep taking extra measures to secure your assets and most importantly, your main assets should be physical and not virtual just to be safe financially.

Yes based on my experienced, DEX is really safe. Make sure just to keep you private keys secured at all cost because that's the only way hackers can steal your assets. I would recommend to use MetaMask, it's very useful, easy and safe to use when trading on DEX.

Ether Delta is my first decentralized exchange. I lost 2 ETH during the hack in 2017 where many users including myself unknowingly sent tokens to the hacker instead of the exchange. I am of the belief that there is no safe decentralized exchange and any platform can be hacked with the right tools and personnel.

Although DEXes are considered to be safe, but there are certain things you should understand, authorizing any transaction is the same thing as giving them the privilege to do whatever with the assets in your wallet, and one transaction is enough for them to do harm they want to.

The things you need to look while trading new decentralized exchanges like the legitimate of the exchange and how people review that exchange, if you found that that exchange is good for trading then you need to look that you are actually entered into the legit exchange or any clone website.

What are the extra measures you want people to take if I may ask?
And Where is the adoption of crypto going to come from if you are advising people to keep their main assets physical?

It is the safest out there that you could use. DEX.
They are using the blockchain technology only and dont really have any server but a website.
All things that are happening inside it are because of the traders and the owner of the website will not have the property or even the slight authority to get in your account.

But with doubts which is good too, you should use a dummy account or a separate account just so to have a clear mind.

DEX are much safer for an attack unless the wallet you are using have the issue and stole your funds on that wallet. There have instances that MEW get hacked, so to say DEX are safe but your wallets aren't.

Dex exchange is safe in my opinion.  It's connecting your personal wallet to the exchange which it's guaranteed you trading safely instead of storing your assests in a cex. It's more easier and safe to an extend expect otherwise.

All transactions are executed on smart contract, so DEX has no way to stole the money out of your pocket. As long as you don't reveal PK, these DEXs are safe. So don't worry buddy.

this can be future of exchanges, but it's too complicated to create and too slow right now

Probably you are accessing DEX from a low end device or your internet connection is poor. All DEX works works fine on my browser with no issue.

Real DEXes are generally safe in the sense that there is no central control of your transaction.so that traders funds cant be stolen by creators of the DEXes. Many DEXes however use smart-contracts. I guess if the smart-contracts is hacked, funds in it can be stolen. But don't worry, this rarely happens.
The safest DEX is probably the one that uses multisig wallets or non-custodial DEXes of some sort

DEXs are safe when used safely and of course when you take care of which one you are using. Imagine that you give your private key to someone else and act according to this.
I have been using the IDEX exchange for over a year and it is quite there.
IDEX is one of the most used DEXs but, as far as I know it is gonna make some changes to its conditions.

hacking a smart contract is much more difficult than to hack centralized exchange and the hacker will not spend time on it because there will be little money
It's almost impossible but the only way to do that through found the vulnerability in the ethereum network which has already secured by thousands of nodes. The only way to hack the hot wallet through steal the priv key or the JSON data but that's also impossible. Smartcontract is so difficult to be hacked as long as the issuer is not putting the back door that can be used by scammer.

Dex is more reliable to use for save trade than cex as your funds will be directly in your hands but that of Cex is hold by the exchange and can be jeopardize with any time , so dex is still the best to run on for save trade.

Yes, decentralized exchanges are safe. But don't log to decentralized exchanges with your private keys. You can connect your hardware wallet or software wallet with decentralized exchanges.

The best thing about Decentralized Exchange, you transact with your own wallet, you keep safe your private keys, when anything goes wrong the exchange, even it was compromised and taken down, you still have the full control of your wallet.
Unlike on CEX, when they get compromised, you lose everything.

There is at least one minus point of decentralized exchanges: their customer supports.
If you transactions (deposits/ withdrawals) sticker/ unconfirmed due too higher fees required on network than default fees set by exchanges; you will do make customer supports. In such cases, Dex might give you slower supports.

Is safe if you don't visit the fake dex website, I never got a problem while using dex for trading my tokens. Honestly, I prefer using DEX than CEX because DEX has a lower transaction's fee and then we don't need to wait for confirmation time and also KYC is not mandatory if we want to use DEX for trading...
Make sure never login into DEX directly using your Private key to prevent hackers, better using software like Metamask for safety...

If you think you're not quite safe while use that method, may be you can try to create new wallet, which is special for your dex trading activities. Although maybe you have to pay more for gas fees

As long as we store the private key and password, don't get stuck on a phishing site, our assets will be safe. Dex exchange is indeed quite profitable, we can avoid the case of hacking wallet exchange that often occurs lately. One thing I don't like is gass, which is sometimes more expensive.

theft is not easy, surely the Dex Exchange developer has implemented a strong security system there, if that happens then it is not your wallet that was hacked but the Dex Exchange server mentioned above, if you are conducting transactions on the exchange, then that's when the wallet is possible You are hacked, so don't be afraid to use dex exchange.

anything can happen, I personally do not use Dex for exchanges. so it's safe or not I don't understand, because I haven't used it. but so far no one has experienced theft in Dex. if you are already comfortable and trusting with Dex exchange, then it's better to keep using it because people's favorite is different.

When it comes to DEX exchange, it is still lots safer than Centralized exchange, but that does not mean that you still have to be careless in handling your funds, because hackers are so smart that they will use any available opportunity to steal funds, either through DEX or CEX but before any fund can be stolen through a DEX, the security bridge must have been as a result of mistakes from the wallet owner.

It is a must that you connect your wallet, but secure your wallet by using a very string keys and then also ensure that the wallet you choose to use is with a private key so you can fully have control of the wallet, and also make sure that the key is stored in a very secured place like paper wallet or stored in a mail that is also secured too with strong passwords.

I have seen a complaint on this forum, someone that lost his coins on a decentralized exchange, so I am not sure of safety with decentralized exchanges but I do believe that decentralized exchanges (DEX) are more safer than making use of centralized exchanges.

With centralized exchanges there are lots odf things you will have to be dealing with, like account setup, KYC and you're also trusting your money into their hands. And you do know that the purpose of cryptocurrency is to create a payment system that will let users carry out transactions without government bodies and banks. You should check out Waves DEX, it's a partial DEX exchange, another one I regard as the top is IDEx

Better to make a separate wallet you use for trading and then transfer your funds there first and then to the exchange. This way your funds on your exchange wallet don't sit there for very long.
I would never ever connect my main wallets and savings wallets to anything no matter what. My other wallets for spending and stuff sure.

There is no possibility of stealing your money in the wallets you mentioned, Dex exchange is among the best safe decentralized exchange platforms, You should take care to protect your private key by not placing it in suspicious applications or websites, Always use official websites to download any wallet, Also do not bother with emails that ask you to download anything or use a fake site to place your password or private key.

Most decentralized exchanges are safe, but the best way to trade on these exchanges is to register a separate wallet and throw coins from the main wallet on it. It is better to play it safe in case the exchange turns out to be dishonest.

As my opinion it's safe. Atleast safer than centralised Exchanges. If you have full access of your private key and phrase then there is no problem. Just use some popular Dex don't put your phrase or private key in a new Dex. And one more thing beware of scams. There is many Dex sites which is not original they are phishing sites of some popular Dex and if you trapped there  that will be a real problem.

In general view, DEX is not safer than centralized exchange, that's very obvious, otherwise, DEX have already gain bigger volume compared to centralized exchange and we will see more coins trading in the exchange. DEX is for small traders only but those who trade with bigger money, they prefer centralized exchange as they can own a password, have their account with 2FA which is not possible with DEX as it's pretty risky to input your private key if you don't know how to minimize that risk.

This is so incorrect it's hilarious.

But on the topic of safe DXs out there, Blocknet is extremely safe since it allows you to use actual full node wallets where you have direct access to the entire blockchain to verify DX transactions on top of owning your private keys.

You don't need to worry about decentralized exchanges like Dex, DDEX, IDEX is always safe. DEXs are safer than centralized exchanges. But there is still no 100% guarantee of course that your funds will not be exposed to possible hacks or stealing. But as compared to centralized exchanges wherein your funds are not really within your possession, DEXs are much better options. And using metamask or trust wallet is another additional security layer to your transactions. You are safer with that provided your private keys are safely stored somewhere far from anyone's access and that you check the website every time before you enter to avoid seemingly similar yet phishing sites.

In my opinion, decentralized exchange is safe to an extent, but the issue is that there's a possibility of getting your wallet compromised if your browser is infected. I remember loosing over 1 eth to a foreign wallet while using the metamask on my Google chrome browser, I guess it was because my browser was compromised and immediately I activated the metamask wallet, the eth was sent out to a foreign wallet.

If you are using a decentralized exchange, the security of your fund lies in your hands and not on the exchange, because you control your fund and every transaction carried out or executive, have to be done with your approval. So for you not to lose your fund, you have to be careful on the exchange site to you and the way you handle your private key.

I think Dex exchange is safe,. As long as you keep your private key and your password its really safe.
That is what I usually emphasize to a lot of people, the safety of our coins still depends on us. Whether Centralized exchange or Decentralized exchange, nothing is safe till we safeguard our own wallet personally. The only thing I just see with DEX exchanges is that it is quite difficult to hack the exchange itself, while CEX exchange is more prone to hacking generally even if you are careful with your keys.

The best thing to do when it comes to our crypto and their safety is never to save the coins on any of these exchange, they are the easiest target for our funds to be stolen than our personal wallet exchange and few exchanges are ones that have safe fund, once coin is stolen in some exchanges, its stolen and gone forever without compensation.

In other words, you can always create a separate wallet for transactions on dex totally separate from the wallet were you hold the majority of your funds to ensure complete safety if you are not comfortable connecting your main wallet to any dex, all you need do is transfer whatever amount of funds you need to transact with to this particular wallet and that is it.

I think that such opportunities there is no. It's possible, but  the exchange will have to try very hard to steal this information from your device. Since any device has a built-in protection system and almost all programmers can not bypass this protection. But in any case, I do not advise you to install the software on the phone as you can lose your device and you have to do a lot of unnecessary actions.

Decentralized exchange is just an automated way for peers to find themselves and engage in a smart contract. You are using your wallet address to sign in to the DEX and you are much safer when you need to send your funds to other wallet, which is a case with centralized exchanges. With centralized exchanges it`s different story, all accounts on one place, just couple cold and hot wallets.
Dex is much more safer than centralized exchanges, but lack of volume is not make them perfect places for trading yet. It will take a long time, but I believe that one day dex will be more popular than centralized exchanges.

It is safer and convenient, that is the vision stableDEX also has and are integrating a lot of features to make theirs stand out. I think there are certain improvements that need to be done and the introduction of certain dex tokens will be one of such. One need to be careful though there are a lot of phising sites too claiming to be dex and will steal private keys and have access to one's funds

Yes, DEX usually has a centralized order book only. All deals happen p2p. And the exchange doesn't have any details about the trader. Without it, an exchange is not DEX as essence. For example, IDEX want to make KYC for all traders from 21 August. Such an exchange ceases to be full DEX

Real crypto enthusiasts come from the postulate that there is nothing safe in the computer field. That is why you need to be careful with all exchanges, both decentralized and centralized.
Better caution once again than losing your money.

DEX are safe for sure since they are decentralized exchanges and do not have anything to do with storing your coins in a database in which hackers can have access too and send it out at will, the truth is that decentralized exchanges are the safest to make use of for trading activities without the fear of losing coins to scammers.

But, the reason a lot of persons do not make use of this kind of exchanges is because 97% of all dex we have in the crypto sphere are not user friendly and very difficult to understand how trading works, and we all know this is the 21st century, people don't wont to be stressed on figuring out how things work, lol.

I think all popular DEXes like Binane DEX, IDEX or Switcheo are safe. Many people are using them every day, so if someone had lost his funds on DEX, we would knew about this occasion.
The only thing that we should avoid is the phishing site. I have lost some amount when i tried trading on IDEX but i end up in a phishing website that looks like IDEX and when i transfer my funds there, they take it out.

To some extent, DEX is safe, but I would not trust them with the private key from my main wallet, which stores valuable tokens and ETH. It is better to create a another wallet for DEX, which is used to buy and sell tokens, but not for hold tokens, because you need to take into account that in case of a hacking of the exchange your private key will be stolen.

Although I haven't  faced any kind of problem yet, during treading but  i don't think that connect our wallet to a specific exchange by providing our private key is a safe way! Any time an unexpected incident can be occurred. But if you feel necessary to trade with those exchanges including DEX, then you can do that with your own risk.

If you are worried about this issue, you should buy Ledger to secure your property best. Currently all non-central exchanges encourage users to use this device to make the transaction safer and this is the easiest way for you. Most people are worried about this issue in this market but thanks to DEX, I can sell a lot of cheap coins and always feel safe because each transaction has to be verified by hand.

That is not bad step to take as security measure for safeguarding our investment, there are lots of things that scammers can do and even though we know that dexes are the safest when it comes to hacking of account because all coins are not stored in one place and wallet only get involves when you decide to link it, but since hackers are always online too 24 hours in a day, before you can be fast enough to disconnect your wallet, they might have gained entrance to such wallet.

The best measure is just to do what you said, have different wallet for some trades that we do in dex, just like I usually do for my mails too. I don’t use same mail where I have my keys to log in on any of these project sites, I simply created something like a junk mail to be on a safe side.

It's safe as long as you use third-party software like metamask.
But keep it minds that never give your Private key to anyone else because that's the only way you can open your wallet.

Depends on what you mean by "safe". Decentralised exchanges are providing a higher security level, because you do not deposit any funds to a third party, but have a full control over your funds. If an exchange would be hacked, you funds won't be affected.
Your assets are always safe when using Dex because the security of decentralized exchanges is often very good and much easier to use than other focused exchanges. I recently started using the Dex exchange because there are lots of coins I can sell from bounty campaigns. Also using Dex can help me a lot in finding a good project because most of the new coins listed in decentralized exchanges are often new projects and if there is basic knowledge, then you can buy it at very cheap prices

Am not a fan of dex but I believe its safe to a reasonable extent. I personally, I can only use such dex on Metamask because that's the only platform I trust now with my funds. I don't think funds will be lost using a dex anyway cos first you will have to connect with an authentication on Trust Wallet or Metamask.

It's quite safe if you are able to manage the security of your wallet by using a trusted wallet. The most commonly used is Metamask. Dex does not give space to third parties, so you have full control of your wallet. There is also no risk of downtime server.

creating separate wallet that used for trading in decentralized exchanges will help us to avoid hacking accident.in this wallet there is 1 token/coin only so if its hacked another assets save in old wallet.we have to use this way to avoid hacking accident.becarefull very important for us.

I agree, separating our main wallet from the wallet used to transact on DEX can be a good alternative to avoid hacking. But the old DEX is usually already trusted because it has handled thousands of transactions since its foundation.

I did not use the mentioned exchanges above, but I used other dex exchanges and I had no problems, if any exchange is listed on cmc then you can ideally use it easily.
That's not automatic, yes they are operational, but how about their reputation?
You need to exert some effort making some research as DEX with bad reputation might make you loss your money.

Just stick to the reliable DEX with decent volume because the first thing that speaks for the status of the exchange is its trading volume.

Decentralised exchanges are the best exchanges out there, no doubt about that in my mind at all, the fact that you are loggin in with your trust wallet instead of inputting your private keys in their website takes that security to another level so your funds are 100% safe as long as there is no breach from your end.

Using a well known DeX has no security implication provided you don't engage in the habit of importing your private keys to the DEX which is considered not too safe in case you mistakenly click on a  phishing site. Connecting with your Metamask is always safer, Metamask has the ability to detect some ethereum phishing site. And do ensure your system is not infected with a virus.

Keep an eye on Stakenet's Lightning DEX solution which quite frankly isn't working in such a way as you describe.
It's not gonna need your personal details, which means, NO KYC, NO registrations, or anything. Just straight up trading from the get go. Using the lightning network, you'll be able to trade via lightning channels to reduce transaction costs.

It's the only DEX solution out there, which I personally believe have a chance of being used by everyday people, and not just the community members themselves.
Nobody wants to use a DEX, and wait half an hour for their trades to go through. Off-chain transactions are important for the overall user experience.

Again, keep an eye on the project - It's legit since they actually partnered up with LTC to help them on Lightning as well. ;)

Undoubtedly, Yag never doubted DEX, because they are completely safe and the theft of cryptocurrency users' funds can only be done using a phishing site.  It all depends primarily on the user's attentiveness.  But it seems to me that after the legalization of cryptocurrency around the world, DEX resources will lose its relevance.

What matters most in all these exchanges is just the security and I usually believe all these about all the features listed here about dexes too until ether delta too was also hacked and I was surprised that with all the believe that we have in dexes as being the most secured exchanges, they were still hacked, so I really do not see anything that much that distinguishes them from a CEX too other than the privacy thing, and the reason why we are just concerned about privacy is in other to evade tax, another people that cares much about these privacy are the criminals also, those who wishes to use the crypto market for illegal purposes, otherwise, people don’t care much about privacy but good services which I find more on CEX.

Of course, such advice sounds trite, but oddly enough statistics are not comforting. A lot of people, even now, fall for such tricks of scammers. Always be vigilant and double-check the address bar several times.

Completely safe! However, just like with security anywhere, you need to safe guard your assets and take complete measures to always make sure you don't expose sensitive and private information to third parties who may be prying. If these measures and steps are taken properly, then you will most likely be safe at all times on the Internet and off it as well.

That's true, but there are disadvantages where when choosing a cheating and new DEX, we can lose the assets in our wallet because in opening the DEX we will definitely use the key we have to access the wallet. always and only trust in reliable DEX exchanges. for new DEX exchanges, as much as possible using a new wallet, to avoid hacking our assets.

The opportunity to steal your funds appears at the moment when you transfer your private key when connecting. Therefore, it is better not to keep all your tokens and Ethereum in one wallet. It is best to trade on a decentralized exchange, create a separate wallet to which you transfer your coins that you want to trade.

People should be aware on phishing because there were a lot of victims of this kind before.
Putting a private key is actually risky, but that's only the way we access a decentralized exchange, however, risk can be minimize if we will not directly access from our main wallet to the DEX, we should have a 2nd wallet which is a bridge and it's doable since transferring tokens in another wallet is not expensive and it's fast as well.

The process is simple, in my case, I use https://www.myetherwallet.com/ or MEW for short, I have all my tokens in a certain wallet, I will make a new one, then send my tokens to the new one, that new wallet is gonna be the wallet I will link to the exchange if I want to trade.

When you are connecting your wallet to the fake exchange and there was a possibility for your amount to be stolen by the scammer through API. We can take what has already happened with hundreds traders in binance as the best example.
These traders are trading use bot that connected to the their binance account and their accounts were hijacked by the scammer through API.
It much better to use paper wallet but as long as you are connecting to the reliable app and that can be trusted.
You should always see validity of your application.

Please be careful with your wallet if you invest in exchange dex because this will be a big risk. I myself have experienced the theft of assets by using a wallet that was made in dex at that time I used forkdelta to sell my assets and 2 months later my assets disappeared.

The Dex exchanges are safe to the best of my knowledge, we should be concerned about the site we are connecting our wallet to, make sure it is the right one, as long as it is not phishing, then we are safe.

In my personal knowledge and opinion, using android mobile phone as far as I know this is prone to hacker. Unless you have a protection to your phone I think its fine. Only Trust wallet I think was a good thing to use to store any coins under erc20. The DEX for me which I think is good to use in was IDEX, Coinexchange, and Bancor.

Based on the assumption that the opportunity to steal your funds is always there and therefore you need to connect new wallets to exchanges that do not have all your coins and tokens. Protect yourself and throw only those tokens that you want to sell onto these new wallets, and then withdraw the coins received from the sale to another wallet.

My personal experience with IDEX has been good, the exchange transaction fee is competitive and the user interphase is simple for everyone to understand. I actually had an issue with my Mew using the meta mask wallet and had to uninstall the Google chrome browser because I felt it was infected. In using the decentralised exchange one needs to be very careful to avoid issues.

Well, these exchanges are secured as long as you don't expose your private keys to any party. Dex exchanges are more safer than Cex exchanges in my own opinion.
On Dex exchanges we give our keys to activate wallets. Here is an example that demonstrates the opposite statement. After my trading on Forkdelta the hacker took the ether from my MEW wallet. I left a bit here the commission for gas. Many more users suffered at this time with me.

Yeah. First by phishing and then second by social engineering you to install their malware. Once active, your PC/phone is compromised. They can get any information from your device.

In your case it would be a fake wallet install or a fake dex exchange that looks like ddex or switcheo.

Dex exchanges are safe and good to use, you just need to connect your wallet with putting your private key!
If you will search the website on the first time you might want to go to www.coinmarketcap.com first and go on the link there.
that will keep you safe from many fake links online.

It seems to me that the exchange itself is safe.  But at least I did not meet any problems there.  But your wallets will always be the most vulnerable spot.

Whether an exchange is centralized or decentralized, you should first do your research on it before using it.
Search for the name online and check what people have said about it or you go to cryptocurrency forums or discussion threads to ask about it, in order to be sure of what it is.

Yes, it possible to stole your funds especially if you use private keys to enter your account for trading. Better use Metamask wallet or ledger nano S. It is the most secure ways to use DEX's.

Making sure that you are using the right site is very important most of the time phishing sites are the one who's responsible losing your assets, even the site itself is safe but when you have been victimized by those hackers there's no chance for you to recover your assets anymore, they will control everything and surely emptied your wallet so make sure to have the right securities and precautions.

But I can hear saying that their funds get stole. So I think they did not notice that maybe they are login into the phishing sites, so be cautious all the time.

Technically, DEXs are safer than CEXs since most of them (like HB DEX (https://www.hb-wallet.com/dex)) wont ask you for your personal data (KYC) and user funds are not gathered in one central point so it's virtually impossible for hackers to target. Connecting your wallet to a DEX is normal so don't worry. However, it's better not to place all your coins in just one single wallet if you don't fully trust where you connect with.

Title: Re: Dex exchanges are safe?

DEX exchanges are safe cause you are using your wallet address to sign in and when the smart contract gets executed transfer of assets is done. For example, you have some coins in a decentralized exchange those coins are in your possession, in a centralized exchange the ownership of the coins is held by the exchange. You know that cause you have the private keys from your wallet, in decentralized exchange, you trade with your wallet, in any centralized exchange owners hold the private keys.
DEX is safer, but yet their volume is low, they are not popular like CEX. I believe that will change in the future.

I use the DEX exchange and I have never encountered security problems. Therefore, from personal experience I can say that for me this exchange is safe. The main thing is that you store your data (password, private key and mnemonic phrase) in a safe place. Also, make sure that you don't accidentally log in on a phishing site. To do this, immediately add a link to the official website of the exchange as a bookmark so that in the future you are sure that you are logging in to the official website.

No it isn't as safe ywe all think. Idex was hacked sometime last year or so now if you're making a transaction during a hack on Dex, your wallets details can be compromised and you get hacked as well. Once a Dex is hacked, any one performing any sort of transaction at the moment is always affected despite the fact its individual wallet.

Even though it's small, the possibility of someone else stealing our tokens is still there. But to be more secure, we create a new wallet that is separate from our main wallet and which is devoted to transactions at Dex exchangers. Alert is one of the keys to keep your coins or tokens safe from theft

I think it is. Decentralized exchange are far better and secure than any centralized one. Cause in decentralized exchange you don't have to give your asset to anyone. You have your asset just you have to connect your wallet. But in centralized exchange you have to send your asset to an address you never have access. That's why its less secure. But most of the centralized exchange try best to keep this asset safe but still got into hacking. But if you are not in a pishing site then decentralized exchange is always secure.

Some DEX exchanges are safe but some specific and can stole your private keys. I think that ForkDelta is not safe but Binance DEX for now is safe. You should be very attended to choose DEX for you needs because a lot of them created to stole your funds.

Yes it is safe, as long as you are on the right link of the website.
If you will be at the phishing website then you are dead.

1. Connecting your private key or wallet to DEX exchange is a must on that thing.

- I use one different wallet connected on DEX and i just send the token/coins i want to exchange there.

It's safe to use decentralized exchanges especially when going through the means you mentioned (metamask or trust wallet). Connecting wallet to a DEX doesn't affect your funds in any way, you still have control over your funds.  Just don't keep importing private keys or mnemonic phrase to DEX, it's not safe this way.

DEX are technically safer than CEX but not totally a hundred percenter because there has been a case of such hack where multitudes lost fund with Ether delta which led to some legal actions and fork to Forkdelta. So don't leave huge funds in wallets connected to an exchange

Genuine decentralized trading platforms are commonly safe and secure as in there is no focal control of your transaction.
The finances of the Users cannot be taken by makers of the DEX.
Decentralized exchanges are governed by smart contracts and these are responsible for security and overview of the activities on d exchange.
The only downside to DEX is their low trading volume

Decentralized exchanges are safe in my opinion, but hackers and scammers often to find other ways to steal other's coins.
We must very careful when using dex because usually dex is targeted by scammers to phish people's wallet.

yes, dex exchange so far is very safe, effective enough to be able to avoid hacker attacks. You also avoid the risk of loss if the exchange is hacked or other problems. without the involvement of a third party makes you more secure to use it.

This is main problem for people, phising site when they want to use their private keys. Maybe metamask will be best choice. But for me i usually manual typing the web or look in coinmarketcap, and use special wallet that only used in that DEX exchange.  So it is different with my main wallet. At least it is easier for me to do and i think it is still safe until now.Not change other strategies yet.

Everything will be fine with you while you connect your wallet through third-party interfaces such as Metamask or Trust Vallet.
As soon as you start entering your private key for connecting a wallet, you will immediately endanger your funds.
As one guy on this forum said, "the harder the safer."
Stay alert, never be lazy or rush. Always double-check everything and keep important records away from the Internet.

Yup, by a phishing site or the dex exchange domain name is hijacked and then you are connected to the fake site. The only way to prevent this is to check if the site is real by checking the IP addresses or any other detection tool.

A must thing to be done but majority of people are way too lazy enough to ignore up these basic things and they would only learn later on
after they lost up some funds into their own wallet. In short, mistakes do make learnings but we should not really come to that point or not really that
necessary since we can avoid it without the need of experiencing it.

A lot of people already metamask to prevent trapped on phising site too. I think that is why some wallet always warned people who want to use private key when want to access their wallet. But honestly, until now i don't know how to use metamask, only do old ways usually.

Now a day most of the people are afraid of the hacks and makes them secure themselves with the metamask, it is good to use metamask otherwise, you will lose funding because before sending payment and accessing wallets it will definitely ask you for confirmations.

Find those much secure exchanges other than dex if that feels so bad, as you think of. That's already happening on most decentralized exchanges, because our online wallet was vulnerable to cyber attacks used by hackers and who did fraud actions on crypto. This cannot be tolerated and it must be avoided by preventing ourselves to deal with these exchanges. The best that we can do in order to stay away from these exchanges, try to divert with hardware wallets someday.
