Post by: MOProgress on August 03, 2019, 06:16:26 AM
In the news Walmart is trying to Patent its own digital currency https://www.cryptoinformers.info/news/10258-walmart-is-trying-to-patent-its-own-digital-currency-imitating-fb-libra

And the idea is said to imitate Facebook's Libra.

My question is; do you think Walmart Currency will succeed Facebook's Libra?

These coins will not achieve the desired success because the world of cryptocurrency is different, we must ask ourselves why a lot like use and trade cryptocurrency, because they looking for profit and privacy, i think this coins will not be like bitcoin or others cryptocurrency in privacy, for example i you want to participate you should pass KYC and most do not like this.

Another big company that enters crypto industry. This news is awesome and a good Libra competitor would also help to keep the performance on a great level. But I hope Walmart will not copy Libra coin and make something unique.

Libra crypto is not yet even launched and the date of the launch for libra token is not yet determined due to the regulation problem and how can you said if libra already succeed?
I think that walmart will face the same problem with facebook.
I can't say anything before the decision of the libra coin will be made by US regulators.

Another stable coin? then Walmart should expect that they will be called to the senate for another hearing. The idea is the same as facebook so they should expect this kind of summon in the senate.

Is there something unique to the market? it's just about competition and rebranding. All coins copied the idea of the very first coin so don't expect that it will be unique.

I think not. Walmart is using blockchain in their logistics systems for a long time now and it's a private blockhain so it does not have much exposure. Walmart doesn't seem to promote blockchain to make money but just use the technology. Libra, on the other hand, it's going to be totally commercial, created to make Zukerberg rich.

The big question is, will there will be a comparison because it was reported that Libra coin will not launch at all base on Coindesk article
https://www.coindesk.com/facebook-libra-might-not-ever-launch-concedes-firm

Quote
“These laws and regulations, as well as any associated inquiries or investigations, may delay or impede the launch of the Libra currency as well as the development of our products and services, increase our operating costs, require significant management time and attention, or otherwise harm our business.”

We still don't know if Walmart's coin will suffer the same fate as Facebook's libra coin, we'll wait for the next update on this.

Simple answer is, they cannot, they won’t even get the chance to live not to talk of competing with a project that will not be established too, look at what Libra coin is already facing in the hands of the government, they are already have lots of government strongholds that will not allow the project to work because it seems to jeopardize the work of the government more, but if Facebook and Libra coin create theiron coin, who would make the project to succeed.

Is it same people that already have investment in other cryptocurrency; is it some citizens that would prefer to go by their country’s cryptocurrency too? If they like, they create heaven and earth all over again, there is no way it can succeed, what I actually expected these people to do was to support Bitcoin and integrate it into their own already existing system.

Walmart has a better chance than libra and see what is that through this link
https://cointelegraph.com/news/expert-walmart-crypto-project-more-agreeable-to-lawmakers-than-libra
A lot of experts have the same opinion if the walmart token is much better than libra and that makes sense.

I have read whole of article and i agree with what already said by those experts.

What's the utility of Walmart currency apart from using it in Walmart? Probably some more vendor they will add so that you can recharge your mobile connection, pay electricity bills etc. Outside that, what's the utility? Same question goes to Facebook's Libra! Both coin will be stablecoin so there's no utility in investment as well! If the question comes to cashless shopping, we already have lot of wallets which we can use in several stores using our mobile phone, like Google Pay, Apple Passbook, Square etc. What's additional these two coins are offering??

They will just end up being another shitcoin! Mark my word!

I'm getting a little bit confused right now. I thought in the beginning that the digital currency launching by Walmart is made for doing transactions (buying goods) within Walmart branches only; nothing more, nothing less. Am I right on what I understood? I'm getting confused because I haven't seen a clear statement like that on the article, the impression it brings to me is that it is just another a coin which stores value like a fiat have and you can use it anywhere. If that would be the case then I don't see the essence of their coin at all.

What do you mean succeed Facebook's Libra? That it will inherit it, or copy or take away its features and make success out of it?

Libra's future is becoming more gloomy with the government's heavy hands pounding on it even before it was launched. It might not even see the day of its birth. Unfortunately, the fate of Libra is most likely the same fate of Walmart's digital currency. This is the kind of financial advancement to huge companies such as the one that owns Walmart that the country seem to hate. It will certainly block this one as well.

Let them compete with each other so we can take the benefit from both (if they can give benefit to us). Time will tell which coin can succeed in the market, and we can choose that coin to help us to make more profit. I don't know which will have the potential to succeed because the project still running so far, and it is better to wait for a while. We can say that Libra will have a chance to succeed, but I think Walmart will do everything to compete with Libra, and they will make sure the project will get many users in the future.

I don't think. Walmart is not a global market and the number of costumers is not as big as Facebook. In my county, no one knows what is Walmart. But even my grandmother use Facebook.

I don't think so. walmart is in many countries but still can not reach so many people as facebook. FB doesn't need to ask users to install something, they can just add wallets to existing apps, it's a huge difference.

Well they are all digital coins and would serve a purpose of course. Like all in-game cash or something. But eventually they won't be something like bitcoin or anything.

The two companies operate in different space and the only thing they have in common is the objective to make money other than that, their differences is crystal clear. Whether one would outshine the other is now dependent on how each of them can push for its adaptability to the general public who are going beyond their platforms to carry out their activities. However, before they both start competing with each other, they need to first cross the hurdle of government regulations and oversight activities which is very much more important at this time of development.

Walmart is a large company with a turnover of billions of dollars annually. With so many loyal customers, maybe Walmart coin can be successful because Walmart already has the infrastructure to make it successful. With branch stores spread across many cities, I think Walmart Coin can be a good alternative choice

Yes, they can be very successful. However, they will be popular only with those people, who use the services of these companies. How many people visit Wal-mart? Millions, but all of them live in the USA. It means that this token might become needed only in this country. Additionally, old people, the American citizens, will not accept it. Libra will be more popular.

Walmart digital coin will become 10times more successful because we know how big walmart is and the fact that walmart is a real life working payment and transactions product it will beat libra coin to defeat, millions of people use walmart in the USA and they make a solid reason to reject libra over walmart coin

Firstly, I think we should be happy that the Bitcoin influence a giant retail store and the most used social media like Walmart and Facebook which is a good sign that crypto maybe endorse as alternative payment system in years. However, the coin which will be create by the two companies was not purpose to take over or be like Bitcoin but like the coin created by JPM.
