Title: Is Bitcoin Becoming More Available?
Post by: Squidley03 on August 07, 2019, 09:16:19 AM

Within recent years the utility, spending and trading of cryptocurrencies has seen a huge leap forward in that we can now pay with our currencies using items like a wirex card and trading can be done over vast networks with many different currencies, each having their own utility. As of late "Bitcoin rewards startup Lolli recently partnered with U.S. grocery store chain Safeway to expand its services from simple online merchants to physical retail stores. In an interview with Yahoo! Finance, Lolli CEO Alex Adelman said: “Right now, we’re trying to make bitcoin accessible to everybody… we’re trying to make Bitcoin part of everyone’s daily life.”

The Lolli system works by rewarding customers in Bitcoin for making purchases with any of its multitude of partner firms. For a company that only began life less than a year ago, Lolli has made leaps and bounds in the industry. Soon after raising $2.25 million from investors including the Digital Currency Group and Square, Lolli began forming partnerships with travel companies like Booking.com and Priceline. Last month it partnered with travel company Hotels.com to provide its customers with free BTC every time they use the site to make a booking.

The payment gateway platform Coinpayments.net is another company that has been helping to increase cryptocurrency adoption by helping users with to spend digital assets. Since 2013, the company has been helping retailers and merchants, both online and in-store, to add crypto payment options to their services. Recently, Coinpayments formed a strategic partnership with the crypto directory listing site Cryptwerk, a single repository listing thousands of places around the world where crypto is accepted.

These companies and many others like them are key to helping grow cryptocurrency adoption in a natural and positive fashion. Many financial analysts believe that once real-life use cases are fully realized, massive amounts of capital will enter the market from institutional investors."

To me Bitcoin is more available now than it was. Cryptocurrencies are more and more popular nowadays. Firstly, you can buy Bitcoin almost everywhere, even at some stationary, physical shops, or also online - at some exchanges or cantors (https://buycoinnow.com/). On the other hand, you can buy some things using crypto too. So, as I said - cryptocurrencies are more and more available, especially Bitcoin.

Cryptocurrency is revolutionizing the world since the creation 10 years ago of Bitcoin

But the thing is governments around the globe has their own policies and out views about what crypto is all about, when others saw this as opportunity some find this as threat to their economy

Buy years after years we are seeing more and many are extending their hands to adopt crypto so for me In another years soon we will find the privilege of having crypto specially Bitcoin in our wallet

More available as in people can easily get access to it, yes. But it is one thing for Bitcoin to become accessible and quite another for Bitcoin to become affordable. People can easily have it in few hundreds or even thousand Satoshis. Before, a hundred BTC is almost worth nothing.

Bitcoin has become more available but less affordable these days.

I contradict to your statement! Bitcoin is more accessible now than ever! If you have money, you can immediately buy bitcoin from any damn exchange of your wish. How come it is not accessible?

If you talk about mining, the yes, mining is not affordable to a common people nowadays! But it doesn't stop them from buying it from the market. With the presence of hundreds of crypto exchanges, bitcoin is now more accessible and available to the mass in tune with its popularity.

What are you saying? There's like lots of companies now that accepts Bitcoin as payment and even exchange fiat to Bitcoin. In the Philippines, there are shops that let's you exchange Bitcoin to Fiat or Fiat to Bitcoin. There's also a company that handles BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH wallets and let's you pay bills using them, you could also buy in that same wallet from them. It's so easy to get Bitcoin nowadays.

Of course. We see a huge increase in attention on Bitcoin, a lot of people are currently looking into and checking out cryptocurrencies, and it's all for a good reason - the technology behind it is pretty revolutionary.

It is becoming more popular - yes. Becomes more accessible - no.
Yeah, this is a shitpost. Look at any major country, company, anyone and you'll see advancements in their knowledge of cryptocurrency. 3 countries are now developing their own cryptos, multiple companies like mastercard are as well, and Bitcoin is extremely popular around people now.

Happy with it's current state. Not mainstream yet, but big enough to become mainstream in the future.

No, It is becoming less available. Here is the ending of mining of bitcoin simulation.

Dust and lost keys will make the supply 0 after a few billion years. Well the supply will always be there, but no one will be able to access it.

The friend used the Bitcoin by doing guerrilla marketing as you know, pulling the topic from one place to another. In other words, when he was trying to bring the subject directly to a project, he mentioned Bitcoin as many people do. I mean, it doesn't mean anything. He knows that. But he doesn't care because he has achieved his goal!

I do not think bitcoin has become less affordable, it's always been this way, the price at every particular period can either be affordable to some or not.

And the most important thing to note is that when trying to purchase bitcoins, you must not attempt to acquire one full bitcoin immediately, you can gradually increase your bitcoin portfolio by purchasing the amount you can afford at that particular time, and with time you'll could own one(full bitcoin),two and much more.

Bitcoin is becoming more affordable, that's for sure. But, governments prevent this, it is absolutely true
Actually, Bitcoin is clearly becoming less affordable, since the price increases with time. Moreover, it's also not becoming more available from the miner's perspective, with each halving cutting the rewards by 50%.
And governments don't always try to prevent people from using Bitcoin more. Some of them are being friendly and trying to make sure everyone benefits of the new technology.
And in terms of ways to use and exchange Bitcoin - yes, I think it's clear that the situation is getting better. In my country, we now have dozens of exchanges that allow buying/selling BTC for money in local fiat being sent to the bank account, and we can regularly see the news that Bitcoin is now accepted by even more companies as payment.

Well, Bitcoin is already popular and while time goes by ,bitcoin continue to make a noise in crypto market that's why it will become more well known in the future. Also it will become more useful in many ways specially as payment method but because of it's higher value I don't think if it will become affordable for everyone specially those people with less capacity to buy bitcoin.

I agree, to an extent. I don't think it'll become more affordable in that 1 bitcoin = 10gbp I believe items that we buy today will cost like 2/3 satoshi's rather than like paying in whole bitcoins

Bitcoin was now becoming accessible, as long as you have an internet connection, you can connect to the network. You can buy bitcoin from many exchanges, and even you can buy from localbitcoin, and you will meet a local seller near your location. That makes bitcoin becoming popular among the people, although there are still not many people using bitcoin if we compare from the total population of the people in the world. But soon, the bitcoin will grow more than now so many people will buy bitcoin.

The moment comes into realization and people finally recognize cryptocurrency as currency to be used especially for Bitcoin. No wonder it came into the point where people would have an interest in this, the fair, easy and fast usable currency is seemingly attracting us.
The most adaptable crypto coin in the market will continue its great journey and gains popularity.

It is becoming more and more pronounced in the society although I don't think many people are already into it. Perhaps some already bought out of curiosity and FOMO, but there's still a huge percentage who's afraid to take a dip in the water. At this point in time, there are lots of places to get your bitcoin right now, and there's literally no reason to say that you can't find a service that you don't trust knowing that these entities are already regulated by the government.

Agree, it is becoming popular and it seems that a lot of people are interested in bitcoin but not everyone has a direct access to it, based on the articles that I read, bitcoin is so hard to mine now and not all mining sites or faucets are reliable enough to waste your time into.

Yes and NO. A few years ago we only had a few exchanges and now we have several exchanges to chose from and we have decentralized services where you can trade without the KYC requirements. LocalBitcoin has been with us for many years but they have gone full KYC now, so that option has made it a little bit more difficult to buy bitcoins without exchanges.

Also, more people have been joining Bitcoin Meetups lately, so you have more people to trade with and you can even use some of the OTC platforms to buy larger amount of coins.  ;D

On a serious note we have seen how Bitcoin was hard to get I mean how it was for one to buy bitcoin because there where no much exchanges on the industry and even at that it was not as accessible as it is now. Now just with a tip of your fingers, one can just bitcoin Bitcoin without any stress like what we had before. Candidly speaking, we will be looking more case use of Bitcoin.

On the other hand back then you could just fire up cgminer and get some bitcoins after a while...

But the past is not returning. People can now buy satoshis in many places, albeit non-anonymously.

Bitcoin is more available, that's not a question now, you can buy/sell bitcoin nearly at every corner if you want to, the real question is:
Are there more people who search for bitcoin nowadays? Who need accessible bitcoin, who need bitcoin to be more and more available?
Or, after the FOMO in 2017 year end, people realized that they could buy bitcoin, but they won't buy it again (at least until the next FOMO :D )?
Is there a real demand for bitcoin that made it to become more available or it just became more available and the demand will come sometime?

I just answered a "No" from the poll, knowing that it means it is getting more and more in supply, but if I was mistaken and the availability that the OP meant was getting access to it then I might also say "Yes" to it, besides bitcoins are easy to get in this times especially if you're a trader or an investor. But if I'm guessing it right about on its volume having an increase, I really don't think so.

But perhaps, it might be possible for we have many miners as of today. (Not that I know if that was having an effect on the current state of volume of bitcoin, just guessing though)

yes but I think the problem is that scammers are working to make it more accessible
I don't think  it's because of them, besides in this current state of our technology, everything now has become do easy to access, scammers are just one thing who brpught bitcoins into fame. Though all in all, the majority of it was made by the blockchain technology.

... there is a lot of confusion on this topic yet.
Yes. There is exactly what it is.

I don't think it's becoming more available because in the past almost all the exchanges let us move big amounts without knowing our identities, and now almost all exchanges ask for official documents to create an account, this makes things hard for a lot of users.

But we see more exchanges nowadays and more people involved, and i would say all of them had to do big research before joining to BTC.

I'm seeing it as a positive sign that exchange are starting to implement KYC as they are just complying with the government regulation.
Bitcoin will be more available if people are confident in using it and they will only be confident if they know the government are regulating it and they will feel secure that way, without government intervention, people using bitcoin will be at risk of getting scam.

I am not sure about this. More and more people are using Bitcoin, and that is a proven fact. Somewhere I read that now cryptocurrencies are being used by close to 200 million people, which is almost double the number that we had during the 2017 peak. One of the largest exchanges (Coinbase) claims to have more than 30 million users from around the world.

That said, I don't think that Bitcoin is becoming more available. Outside the developed nations it is difficult to purchase or sell cryptocurrency. And worse, some third world nations such as Bangladesh and Nepal have jailed cryptocurrency users for breaking the law (they had prohibited the trading of cryptocurrency earlier).

But let's say in Africa, and some developing countries in SE Asia adoption will take time to evolved. Yes, maybe some governments are very lenient of crypto but there should be infrastructure to support the growth as well. So there should be a wholistic approach before we can finally see bitcoin being adopted globally.

With a supply of only 21 million, bitcoin is always there but with prices that continue to rise. As long as bitcoin is still traded on exchangers, I think bitcoin will always be available. Crypto is indeed an attractive investment now and bitcoin will always be the first choice for investors
Attractive investment but with the huge risk involved. Availability is a different question though, Asia so far is a safe haven for crypto enthusiast, but it is only one part of the equation. Europe for one has steadily accepting bitcoin specially most stores there are using Lightning Network already.

If this will be implemented and adopted by different countries, bitcoin will become the best payment system as it will never goes off line compared to other payment which is centralized. The development will easily push through if the government are very supportive with crypto, of course regulation is already included and we will see some limitations that we are enjoying now, but we need to accept that in order for bitcoin to grow and develop continuously.

I could not understand the news article posted properly but from what little I could make out, I think the OP is getting confused between what mining produces and what a person buys. Mining makes bitcoins available to everyone as soon as the miners sell them but a country may put a restriction of the trade of bitcoin in which case they are no longer available by legal means to that person. So if you forget about the government poking their nose in and enforcing KYC, then the availability depends on the dumping of the miners and traders.

More or less is a slightly relative term here.

These companies and many others like them are key to helping grow cryptocurrency adoption in a natural and positive fashion.

I agree. But only if honest companies are created that strive to provide good quality services and their creators are not anonymous. The current problem is that many people just look at the crypto world as an opportunity to get rich and forget to provide good quality services because they know this is an unregulated market.

Many financial analysts believe that once real-life use cases are fully realized, massive amounts of capital will enter the market from institutional investors."

if we have a lot of politicians who like bitcoin and who look at the crypto market as a good thing then we can see a much bigger adoption than today

Bitcoin will be more affordable in the future. because every day it grows and grows in scale.
I doubt that it will happen, much more likely it will be the opposite, just like now, bitcoin has continuously growing and the price in the market aren't that afforadable. So if it goes back the way on the past 2017 there will be more investors but the price for the public and low profiles will unreachable for them.

It will become expensive in the future but it is still affordable because we can still buy in form of satoshi but obviously it will not be as affordable as today.

With different company and development revolving Bitcoin, it is becoming more available to the masses.  Company offers services that make it easy for people to buy Bitcoin thru apps and I believe as day goes by, it will become more easier to buy / sell BTC.

Yeah, only on the form of satoshi not exactly Bitcoins. Though we can just expext on some new altcoins to exist and exchange them in the form of Bitcoins as they go into the market. With those altcoins, it can be possible to gain more BTCs in the future even if it will raise its value more than 20k USD.

There has really been a very great development in the cryptocurrency industry of recent and It is very surprising to see that new Zealand has implemented bitcoin and would fully legalize it come 1st of September to the extent of even trying to make it a coin that could be used to make payment of salaries, this is really a welcome development and it means that bitcoin is becoming more available, and like you said, many government as also imposed the use of KYC to some of these exchanges, which also means that they are beginning to pick so much interest in cryptocurrency gradually.

We could also see the case of china too is planning to release their currency too in cryptocurrency, so bitcoin wit time will really be a coin that will be most accepted worldwide.

Here in my country, the Philippines already adapted the usage of bitcoin on every transaction. We have a local wallet which is called coins.ph that allows us to use Bitcoin as a payment from different transactions like bills or online stores.

To answer your question, yes it is getting more available than the past years. As a student, I already foresee the future of bitcoin, it's now powerful, what more it can do when the whole world, work with its technology?

I find bitcoin to be a very effective tool to change the perspective of each individual in digital money.

It has been 10 years since Bitcoin was released, it has changed the perception of many people about electronic money, including me. Crypto has done a lot of great things over the past 10 years, it has become more accessible, we can get rich thanks to Bitcoin. However, your opinions are contradictory, Bitcoin is not easily accessible. In some countries, Bitcoin is banned from trading and storage, it seems the Government doesn't like this.

It is banned in some countries but look what countries are those. Low GDP weak governments. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Vanuatu... please.

if we are talking about buying bitcoin yes its available.but we can use it for trade only.so im trying to say what "available" means in that question. being available doesnt help to bitcoin or humanity.

The article and the first post are clearly saying something else. You haven't read that.

It's hard to say whether bitcoin is becoming more available or not because there are both, positive and negative news. For example Indoa banned use of bitcoin and there is jail on that while USA allows you to pay taxes with bitcoin in Ohio state.
So in overall, one accepts while another one declines and finally we don't get important move around it. But still it's great step from USA.

we don't know what will happen in the future. however, various companies have begun to accept bitcoin as one of the technological developments in the world. it is evidenced by several news such as Facebook that received this development, and also Samsung who started using bitcoin on their blockchain keystore. sooner or later, those who refuse bitcoin will again accept that, moreover, I feel that India is also very suitable when utilizing blockchain technology.
