Here is the top 3 reason:

The worrying thing is the last peak was $14k which was lower than the previous at $20k.

This is the first time this has happened, although I predicted this might happen 18 months ago.

If this proves to be the case then the next high will be lowers still and I'd expect the pattern to repeat as people realise that btc is never going to take over the world.

It seems to me that this is just another correction. Which you should not pay attention to. This fall is not for long. I am sure that the next growth will be very soon and we will see new peaks of bitcoin.

Its 2 months since the last high, that's not a correction.

It's not a new news that bitcoin's price is falling since last 2 days and today it has gone below 10k. Speculators will speculate anything but tell me, is this the first time you are seeing this kind of trend in 2019?? Bitcoin is continuously going beyond 11.5k and coming down to 9k. We have seen such trends quite a few times in this year, especially since last 3 months. See the chart below and look at the highlighted area of head and shoulder's pattern.

https://i.imgur.com/17CNSXh.png

I firmly believe, that another similar type of trend is in the making and it will continue for some more time. However, I only agree with only one point from the article of Coindesk as quote below,

Quote
Two, concentration is a sign of an immature asset class. Imagine an emerging stock market in which one company accounts for 80 percent of the country’s market valuation. A diversified category will be more resilient, flexible and powerful, as internal connections and synergies empower a profitable irrigation of resources.

Increasing dominance can lead to utter massacre and there will be no area of recovery if anything wrong happens! Lets just wait and watch but I believe, bitcoin below 9k is still a gift!

I wasn't expecting the ATH to be overtaken by this year and this is why I'm not surprised with the sliding. Although, it is a kind of correction but I can't say when we are going to see a stop.

We've passed the last high, you should be looking for the next bottom. I call between $1k and $2k.

Really... ::) If bitcoin gets to that, what do you think of altcoins ???

Btc rise and falls every time even the crypto analyst already know this fact, the fall will not remain permanent just like the raise won't, it is funny how every time btc drop in price so many new topic with questions why will sprang up but none will show when btc is out of the roof ???  this is crypto buddy, highly volatile and very unstable price, get use to it and take advantage of the dip coz you never know.

Heres a very short term graph for this very recent rise:

I think somewhere around 10200 area is the top to beat, the bottom prices are the lows seen previously since late June.

I think the biggest reason right now is that price is at a level where buyers do not want to buy because they are afraid the price will fall and there are sellers who do not want to sell because they are afraid price will go up, so there is this position where price goes up and down between same levels because nobody wants to take the first risk. If the buyers suddenly decide that its time to rally than it would be super easy to go beyond $13k levels once again, however if sellers decide its enough idle period and sell than it would be super easy to go down as well.

There is really no middle level here, you gotta wait patiently and see what will happen without making too much drastic moves, if you don't do that than you will end up with very risky bags.

Bitcoin is falling because the alts did not follow the recent price surge.

In a real bull market the two markets alternate ups and downs. Thats how bitcoin can sustain an increase in its value.

Maximalists rejoice when they see altcoins going down. What they fail to see its that the constant swap between those currencies, practiced by experienced whales, is what makes the price go up in a organic way.

The recent surge increased bitcoin dominance in a artificial way. Now it will go down, probably to the 7-8k area. Altcoins will need to pick up.

That's what happens in a bubble. We're not there yet. It's a good thing too, because a vertical move straight to a new ATH this summer would have crashed pretty quickly. Building up support with multi-month corrections is the key to building a major parabolic move like 2017.

I wouldn't say anything happened because of alts. Alts are mainly just correlated to the BTC market. The primary explanation is just that BTC is still in correction mode. Supply and demand and all that.

This one, it takes months and months building support and I still do think that we are still farther away from the parabolic rise of 2017, heck we might not end get to $20k this year as others may have predicted.

I agree that alts needs time to grow so that the market will be healthy as there are correlation between BTC and alts. But how can alts grow when altcoins investors are not willing to gamble on them and would rather go into BTC. Altcoin market of 2016-2017 is very different now as investors are getting smarter.

Crazy call, how is that possible, does that even look at all realistic to you? I will bookmark this page and your post, and then remind you when bitcoin starts heading back to $15k, which high are you talking about when we are yet to beat the last ATH, before bitcoin can go back to all time low, till after the bull run, and there is not going to be bull run till next year, which means we will stay around this current value for a while now while we await the real bull run that will get us to another new ATH that will be higher than the last ATH.

So, you better change your mentality now and then invest when you can still invest, I thought people like you had already left the market, but I don’t know we still have you FUD carriers around, and it will be so shameful to you soon.

It is already a deep fall for many.
I think that is already a sign that a pump will happen again.
All I know is if their minds are set that it could be the lowest for the week then they will keep on buying.
Whales wont mind that or they could be following it since they have already sold at 12k+ price.

Let us see at the end of this month if there will be changes again in thousands of dollars. I bet there is.

I dint think you should even think towards believing that we have reached another all-time high for this short bull run, that can never be because that would be lower than the last ath really and I doubt if that has ever happened in the history of bitcoin, the bulls really need to keep the market floating as this will be a very big and sad news for the cryptocurrency market, but I am still very optimistic that this is just one of those major decline that usually lead to a high surge in bitcoin.

I think there was a time that it went as low as $8000 and then picked up again, so this would really not be the first time that bitcoin will be having this very high decline too this period that it start bull run, just a normal correction I guess, and I believe that before the weekend is over, it will correct itself again.

With a few exceptions and some minor pump and dumps, the altcoin market was bloody in 2014-2015 and dead in 2016. The current sentiment is part of the same market cycle.

The altcoin market may remain dead until BTC makes a new ATH and corrects. That's what happened in 2017.

No-one would give you a definite answer as to what is going to happen to any market. Either two things for Bitcoin right now;
1. We have switched to a long term uptrend and right now some little correction which should give us a higher low when the correction completes
2. This is just a bull trap and we could still have more downside. However, this should be glaring based on certain psychological supports leading to a lower low, but a good time to load up more.

As for altcoins, we all know the answer to your question. Some are already dead as at now, more would die and basically for the altcoins with no usefulness, which most of them are, death is inevitable anyway.

I still believe this year the BTC will touch the new ATH and the fall now is just a correction so don't panic too much about the current situation.
They are making reasons for this current downfall, some creates panic and some encourage everyone to buy more. If we panic and settle already for the current price, then we might miss the opportunity when the price pumps again. We might not achieve to make new ATH this year, but the price will go up above $13k level, I’m confident with this.

Quite hard to really tell but as you said, it is possible, bitcoin is too volatile to be predicted, and any factor could just rise up now and then spark a fire in the market that will cause big FOMO and you see everyone rushing to buy bitcoin as soon as they can, so I still believe to that it is likely we get there towards the end of the year, but if we don’t, at least we will get a little close, if we can get to$15k by the end of the year, then we will surely pass above that $20k starting the year with that $15k.

We can imagine what will not happen when the halving of may come meeting us already at $20k, then I will believe those who saw that by next year, it is also likely that bitcoin reaches $50k before ending its dominance for the main time and then back to bear market.

Do you have any analysis to support this? We are almost to the end of this year and no big move so far from bitcoin. I think we should just take this year's price the way we see it and not look at a big move but if it comes, is also nice for profit taking.

There are several ways to predict bitcoin price in the future, but yeah there is no certainty or even can be trusted easily. I remember when bitcoin price went up at 2017 ago and at that time there is many specualtion who made that bitcoin price will goes up again in 2018 but that is only prediction.

Related to getting profit it is actually depends on your ability to take advantage in any condition. As you may know bitcoin price is volatile and you can saw with the movement price a few days ago such as fall to 9k and went up again to 11k we can say it is an adventage to gain profit.

You can buy at the lower price and sell it at the high price but you must be patience when the price goin down more than you bought it.I believe bitcoin price will goes up in 2020, the reason is simple i.e the halving event will come and you can learn the history when the halving event come the price bitcoin will goes up.

If the price is not increasing even then it is not big deal just try to buy more and more bitcoins this is the most profitable investments on this earth no need to lose hope year is not yet ended it takes only single day to see the price of bitcoin pumping so never underestimate bitcoin it has the highest potential.
Majority of us have faith in bitcoin and believes that in the next 5 years, the price of bitcoin will land on $100k, and if we believe that, is that not what we are supposed to be preparing for? And how do we prepare for it, by buying as much dip as we can buy when we see one, so when people see the price of bitcoin falling, I don’t know why they still ask what is falling it instead of accumulating more and more of it until they are satisfied and confirmed they are set for the future.

If their preparation is set for the next ATH, we are supposed to still be hoping to get cheaper price now also in preparation to tat. The next bull run might peak at $40k and if we buy at those $10k,  is that a very huge profit that will be no imagine if we buy at $8k?

By what time frame? Before we break the $20k all time high we might very well test the $6000-$6500 range again. If we do happen to tank that far down, I'm pretty sure that will shake out a lot of moon boys.

People mostly don't get what they prepare themselves for. Last year they were expecting a bull run but got a massive crash instead. This year people were expecting the price to dip under $3000 but got a massive pump instead.

The same applies to the altcoiners waiting for an altcoin season with loaded bags. It's not going to happen until people lose faith and capitulate. Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

You have said what many don't see. They want price to keep going up and higher like that without some slowing down. This is a currency that really fluctuates and it is investors duty to try understand the movement and make money from it, that is trading.
Price fluctuations is good it gives profit to us buying at low price is good it can save your future and it today’s best reward for waiting with time we gain income from bitcoin. Falling price gives good chances to earn money I don’t consider the decline of price as wrong tern but I use the chance and collect high number of coins.
Falling price do give us the chance to buy of what we have lost during the time of panic selling due to FUD also. Price fluctuation is uncontrollable movements in the market and making your own TA will take you to your closest next prediction of the price.

Exactly, people seem to have the idea that the price moves in a linear way but we only need to look at the way the price of bitcoin or any other coin moves to know that is not true, the price could break the 9k barrier the next time it goes down and I will not be surprised if this was the signal many whales needed to get out of the market and make the price to go down significantly, and the problem is that many investors are expecting the bull run to continue but if there is no one else fuelling the positive movement of the market then the market will have no option but to go down.

I actually understand you, we need adoption that will continue to fuel this movement of bitcoin and not just speculation again, because a time will come that people would have been used to speculation and would not encourage adoption, aside speculation, we also need to create some avenue where people can easily make payment to us as merchants , for those who sells product, with this, we are also fueling development because our clients will necessary need to demand for bitcoin if we have it as means of payments, and for those how do not understand, it would just be for us to explain it to them.

For many countries to accept bitcoin as a means of payment it will be necessary to create laws that are good for cryptos. The issue that becomes a major hurdle is that lawmakers are outdated people, in most cases they are old people who lived their youth at a time when technology was very rudimental, they do not understand and make no effort to understand that the The world is evolving a lot and they need to keep up with that evolution. these same disgusting politicians have the big problem of control people and many politicians are dictators

Well you are right and this is not bad at all crypto is good to buy at low price and sell high as it will give profit when price will again rise only patience helps in this regard. Buying BTC is best done just immediately after a sharp dump because you can be sure prices will go up at least a bit e.g when BTC fell from 10k+ to 9500 in one day about 2wks ago.

Right now BTC is somehow stable, what you call "low price" might be a high price next week... You just might wake up to see BTC is now 9k.

So it's best to wait for a sharp dump then buy immediately afterwards.

There is no big fall in price, the market keeps on gaining momentum for the next big price pumping. Based on the chart it is predicted for a chance of fall in value, to what extent this gonna happen is unknown. As we experience the price of bitcoin to be strong above $10000 we can expect growth even if there happens a drop in the price.

There is a big support around the $10,000 levels that's why the price tends to stay around or above that price. But it is still possible that it can go lower than that. We are just trading sideways, in the last month or so, a indication that demand is slowing down, but it doesn't mean that it can't go and reach our latest high around $13,000 this year.

I believe that the end of the bear market has ended as the market value of bitcoin has now remain steady above $9,000 for a long time now and I believe that the momentum will continue in an upward direction with look of the look of the current market chat as compared to the past chat history of the market.

We need some catalyst for the price go to up, maybe we have to wait what Bakkt's impact on the market at the end of the year to have a upward direction this last quarter of 2019. Maybe $15,000 could be target and then we look forward for the next block halvening.

Well, we went up from $3k to $14k without a catalyst, so what we need is improved technicals because that's what actually matters. If we get a catalyst to trigger bull mode, then cool, but we haven't had one in almost two years.

If the block halving happened to be the catalyst for the increase that we have had this year, then we most likely can only expect more sales to happen because we have been generously rewarded already.

Litecoin has had a rough time thus far, and that while people expected the halving to rocket its price to over $200. Its hashrate has dropped significantly too. People haven't seen that coming at all. Curious to see what Bitcoin does.
