Title: Antminer S1 temperature limit.
Post by: kthejung on March 16, 2014, 02:01:47 AM
At what temperature in celsius should I unplug my Antminer?  The heat sink fins got very hot to touch and got nervous and unplugged unit, the room itself does not have the best ventilation yet.  I miners themselves read about 49 degress celsius.  I've read that some overclocked miners run at 70 degrees, is that safe without damaging the miners?

I've measured chips at 120F ~49C, the high point where problems start is 70C its best not to let it get that hot. Try opening a window to let them cool off a bit if possible keep the room under 100F ~37C

Basic rule is: try to keep it under 50 degrees.
if you are adventurous I would try till 60 degrees.
If you want to role the dice. try 70 degrees but I would not recommend this if you are not a risk taker.

It is just me but I never allow to go over 55 degrees with 190GH. my average for this month is 43 degrees.
Hope this helps..

Do you have a front fan installed in a push-pull configuration with the factory fan?

My five ants all have front fans and they run @ 34-36 (overclocked) but they are in a temperature controlled server room set to 68º(f).  I also run the stock fans at max speed by removing the blue wire, but a lot of people do not believe in this approach because of the shortened life span and additional electricity usage.

I tried some different things with my first one to move the blades out from one another but I didn't have much success.  I think there's a vid on youtube by someone on here who came up with a really good solution for getting some distance between them.
