Title: Sending bitcoin to an address not saved on Electrum
Post by: hedlund on August 16, 2019, 11:06:34 PM
I sent bitcoin to an address, created on Electrum, without adding the quantity and saving it. How can I recover it?

What do you mean? You don't have to do anything. Just send any amount to any of your addresses and it will be there.

You are probably talking about the "Receive" tab, right? It doesn't really "request" anything. Creating or not an "invoice" there doesn't really do anything. It's basically just an way of creating a QR code and organizing where some coins came from.

Electrum has the tab receive, when I open the tab it creates an "address to receive" and gives the option to add description, quantity and the expiring time with the option to save it.
However I just copied the address without adding description, quantity, expiring time and sent bitcoin to it without saving.

It seems that you are in the receiving tab where you can request and save. It is not the place where you can make a transaction as Tryninja said you don't need to do anything just copy the address is enough. You can also go to the addresses tab and you will see all address you own including change addresses.
If you are going to send bitcoin send tab is the place where you can send bitcoin?

Little update

You are here if you want to copy the address just copy the address you don't need to put anything here.
So if you sent a bitcoin to that address the bitcoin transaction will show in the history tab.

If you want to make a transaction you should be here:

Like I said, it doesn't matter.

What matters is: you receive ANY amount of coins in ANY address from your wallet. That's it.

The receive tab is pretty much useless. "Expiry time" isn't really an expiration time, because Bitcoin addresses never expire. Just use your addresses normally.

Electrum has the tab receive, when I open the tab it creates an "address to receive" and gives the option to add description, quantity and the expiring time with the option to save it.

You can add description to any of your receiving address in Electrum, for example if you will get more then one transaction to one address just add description "Payment from Bob", and you will see this description in Electrum history tab so you will know Bob is sending you coins.

Option quantity is only for your info and it has something with expiring time option. You can set amount of coins and expiring time so wallet will inform you if payment is not made. For example Bob need to pay you 0.02 BTC no later than December 25, 2019, and when you enter all data in receive tab, you do not need to worry that you will forget about this event.

I hope this information helps you better understand how Electrum works.

Thank you I did not know this option and did not run ahead searching for.
I did some research and this option may not be a waste of time but a shortcut to the future where I can ask someone to send $ 100 to my account and instead of giving the address can be scanned QR code in order to do this faster.

ANYWAY:
