In recent years a lot of new Bitcoin movies have been made and released. Nowadays almost everyone in the world has heard of Bitcoin. How different were things back in 2009 when Bitcoin started. With the increased interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, people have become more curious about what Bitcoin is.

These are more like documentary not main stream movies. Bitcoin Heist is one of the movie I have watched in the past but again it did not have much publicity and the casts were not so popular.

By the way, I will be watching all of the above once I get time. Thanks for the names.

From the discussion it seems the names above are documentaries and not movies. Am really into movies so I decided to check in when I saw the topic, maybe you need to change the heading/topic so people can appreciate the essence  of the post.

magic money I think is the most interesting of these five lists, and I think the conclusion of the film is very clear

and don't miss the "CRYPTO" film played by luke Hemsworth & Kurt Russell, this is one movie that I think is very good and the plot is very interesting.

Have you watch all those movies? because if you do and still have the same comment like this then I should also not waste my time to watch this 5 movies. Anyway, everyone are making their own story about bitcoin, its interesting if there's a blockbuster movies regarding on bitcoin, will probably wait for bitcoin reach the hollywood.

Haven't watched any of the movies that shows much about bitcoin. Recently watched a trailor of a movie link posted on our forum. That was well created and now I'll add the above list of documentary cum movies to the watchlist. Someday when I feel stressed can watch this movies.

Top 5 must see? Can you include the director? include the movie's synopsis as well, Include the reason why you included that in your TOP 5 "MUST SEE" Bitcoin movies, what is imdb rating? rotten tomatoes rating?. Some of these are documentaries with "Bitcoin" on their titles. Nothing more to see here and this can be searched through search engines.

Do you want him to lay out the red carpet for you too? Op clearly tried to simply share his knowledge of BTC movies and its up to you do your own research regarding whether they are good or bad(Ratings etc).

This was one of my favorite movies sometime back. Felt like I was watching an 'On My Block' movie version and I liked how they integrated crypto into it. However, I advise watching on your own or with your friends.

I would say that we can add movies which are about traditional system being fraudulent and crooked, this after all is why BTC exists inthe first place. In this case , I recommend this movie : " the big short" .

I have not watch any documentary or movie related to btc, but i think watching these documentaries will give more closure about btc and what it represent, thanks to @op for bringing this up, i didn't know we have such material for btc, it won't be a bad idea to see some.

They spend money on that movies, maybe its worth watching but we can’t guaranteed on that. We can watch any movies and its good if its about cryptocurrency or bitcoin itself because for sure you can still learn and relate from that movies. One day, I’ll spend my day watching more movies or documentaries about bitcoin or cryptocurrency, we need to learn and have fun everyday.

That's what i said, it is searchable. if op really wanted to share the "TOP 5" "must see" BTC movies, op must include synopsis as well to share what the movie is all about.
Since op listed it all down, why don't he include the directors/actor?, why did he placed that on that rank? why he suggested to watch it?. This thread is nonsense because it is searchable online and if we keep tolerating this kind of thread he will keep creating threads like this, does this thread help? Maybe but then again, it is searchable online. Nothing to see here, unless he also shared his insights about the movie, add trailers synopsis etc., is that hard to do? LOL and just to add, I'm not hating here I'm just criticizing how this thread doesn't help newbies and Readers. It's just a plain listing of movies with "BTC" on their title.

I did watch a couple of the films OP listed, as they're included with Amazon Prime.  I wasn't particularly impressed by any of them, though I did find them interesting.  Of course, I watched them maybe a month ago--after I've been into bitcoin for almost 5 years.  They would be great for newbies to watch.  The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin was probably the best, but I'm having a hard time even thinking about what I saw in it.  There wasn't anything new that I hadn't heard before, but it was cool to see some of the personalities speak and to put a face to them.  I hadn't watched any other videos and don't really follow crypto news, and thus that caught my attention.

I'd really like to see a documentary dealing with not just the positive aspects of bitcoin, but some of the darker aspects of it as well.  Bitcoin and scamming have kind of gone hand in hand, and I'd like to see the Trendon Shavers thing mentioned, and Mt. Gox, Cryptsy, and a few other big scams mentioned.  Not to mention Silk Road and all the other related things.

I am surprised that I haven't heard about this movies before and maybe the publicity about it was not on a high level like the other movies promoted by the likes of Netflix or the Hobbs and Shaw likes that even if you living in the remotest part of the world, you will get to hear about them... You will do more by including  a reliable and legit source of either downloading or streaming the movies you have mentioned as that would go a long way in making people who are curious to just take a peek by the exercise of a finger.

We could do so much, we could solve diseases instantly, solve all murders, all vote, all create the supply, know the supply of metals we have in order to reach other planets, etc etc.

Someone raised a topic some days ago about not having cryptocurrency movie and I wish the person was seeing this thread to confirm that we have had series of cryptocurrency movies being released, and the fact he has not seen one does not mean that there is no movie for it and we still have many producers that are currently even working on some that would be released soon.

It is a good thing that you made a list here, and I think that I will have to download some of them as I think that I have only seen one or two, it is a great thing man, I am sure that very soon too, virtually every movie will speak of bitcoin in their movie when it comes to currency spending part, probably they will use it in the movie in place of the most common fiat which is the united state dollars, I be this is what US would never like to hear lol.

I think its a documentary not a film, i saw some in your list, and its a really great documentary, i sometimes seen bitcoin mentioned in some Film and US TV Series

if almost everyone knows bitcoin , why would they be curious ?  and why watch a bitcoin movie if you are really curious about btc ?  you should head on the search engine for a quick and accurate answer or you can also ask a question on this forum  . bitcoin movie should not be prioritize as a learning tool because its only a movie anyway  , the events ,characters  , infos , etc.. are changed   .  

but this movie is still recomended for existing btc users to keep them entertained and more attached to bitcoin  .

These are documentary works for platforms rather than cinema production. Just like Banking of Bitcoin in Netflix.

But I've heard rumors that a film called Crypto will be released soon. I think it will be an important film in its field.

Because I never heard and never know that there is a movie about bitcoin.
Just all I know the movie that Bitcoin involved was when I watched the Hacker the title
of the movie.

If hollywood made a film about bitcoin it would be about a hacker stealing millions of dollars from an exchange or some drug dealer using it to launder money.  What would the plot for a good film be?

I seriously never heard something like bitcoin movie. And funny thing is i just read a post that ask bitcoin to be made into a movie or documentary and wow it exists already? And not even one.
Actually i can't imagine what kind of movie they will be using bitcoin as the theme. If it's documentary then i might be able to guess a little. I guess i will try to watch them if i have a free time later on. Thanks for the information!

This movie isn't that bad as well: Dope. It was my first time of hearing about Bitcoin but damn! I never read further lol. I actually didn't understand how they were making real money outta it and I think it's the same reason many nocoiners still don't believe Bitcoin. They think it isn't real lol.
By the way, that movie associated Bitcoin usage with drugs and darknet marketing meanwhile that isn't the case in reality.

Most of the responses say that the list is composed of documentaries rather than 'movies.' But, whether documentaries or mainstrem movies, I think it's still good to know such films because, after all, those are ways to let people know what bitcoin is all about.

Yes, there are other means of getting informations about bitcoin such as reading articles or news about it, but people have different preferences in learning like watching films which may include those stated in the list. It's also entertaining at the same time.

Anyway, if I have spare time, I'm also going to watch those mentioned. All seems interesting, and looking forward to gaining additional knowledge about crypto. :)

There is a very cool documentary called Life on Bitcoin. The film is about a couple of just married guys. They decided to conduct a 100-day social experiment - live and pay for everything in BTC (without dollars or any other paper currency). They travel and talk about every step of their Bitcoin experiment.

The entire experiment is recorded on video. It will be cool to watch the film only for the fact that it was made in 2013 when BTC was not popular as now and very cheap.

If honestly in the first time hear about such films.I'll definitely watch them.And by the way Yes us need to create more films about cryptocurrencies.If it is correct to represent films cryptocurrency of mass adoption that everyone is talking about will come much faster.

Not movies but I'll be looking forward to watch these documentaries, and don't forget to know the difference between documentaries and movies, anyways, I think that Bitcoin Heist was actually one of the good movies that I've watched in terms of cryptocurrency, there are more upcoming movies soon and hopefully these movies will be successful since it can be a big influence to the viewers and give them insights on what Bitcoin is.

So, These are all Documentary films. And we still have not any movies about BTC. Well, in the bright sight, we have not too much people who can know clearly about cryptency world. That's good point to get money.

now the more exciting movie (Magic Money: The Bitcoin Revolution - 2018) I like this film.
This is the first time the story of a currency that is also a payment system that allows you to transfer money to be saved by the world at a low cost without anything that can be prevented, including the government. It's only a matter of time for a government compilation like Greece to confiscate public money, more and more people are turning to bitcoin and the value will go up.

I think he actually needed to be corrected on that which you have done, because when I saw this post, I eagerly went to search for it so that I can download it but it was then that I discovered that they were not movies but documentaries, although there are some that I could not find on where I normally download my movies, so I just assume that maybe those ones are the movie, but now that you are confirming it also, it means that we still don’t have any movie that has been written on bitcoin.

It would have been very nice for us to have movies in it, it will at least help also to generate awareness to the viewers, because most of these movies are being seeing worldwide and by millions of viewers. I believe that we will surely have entertainer already preparing for it.
