Are you aware that the current market conditions are really very bad? altcoin prices are down, while bitcoin is still enjoying its movements. if the market continues like this continues, I doubt altcoin will still be in the market. an investor we must have a good strategy to avoid this loss,

Many people are too busy getting worried about altcoin losing value and only smart investors are taking the advantage of this present market value,they keep buying both old and new altcoins for long term hold because they believe that altcoin season will return.

Currently we should only focus on BTC. It's not the time to buy altcoin.

I personally am one of the holders of altcoin bags, besides that I always monitor the status of their prices in the market. because I am worried about the portfolio that I have now and if my portfolio does not have a good price change, the thing to do next is to replace it with a decent altcoin for investment.

I can agree with your first statement but not with the second statement consider about even there was an altcoin in top 10 CMC still doesn't have a product. It much better to search the potential altcoin based on the product as the main consideration.
But i agree if we are always trying to put some bitcoin in our portfolios and this the decrease of the volatility that can bring us to the lost. The altcoin is really volatile compared with bitcoin.

The point is when someone is not sure of his choice, of course they will change the strategy with other options that they have studied and are worth investing in. altcoin is currently down in price but it does not rule out the possibility that altcoin will die, altcoin which has a real product and many users will certainly remain on the market.

that's all only you know what you have to do with your assets, if I were in that position of course I would change the new strategy by exchanging or replacing them with coins that are more worthy of investment. bitcoin I think the right choice, bitcoin price movements are increasing well.

altcoin prices continue to decline while bitcoin is still stable. I decided in July to sell all altcoins moving to bitcoin. if I don't sell my altcoin in July then it's likely that I've lost a lot of money.

The altcoin movement is very dynamic and I agree to renew our portfolio. Except for altcoin which is in the top 30, I think altcoin which does not have the large liquidity that we store, is better exchanged for altcoin which is in the top 10 because it already has a product and has a large transaction volume

Believe it or not,if there will ever going to be a next altcoin season many new projects will be the most favoured,because after spending a week entirely on research i have seen some very rare good projects that are still very new and havent get listed on CMC yet so some top 20 altcoins of today will be replaced by few rare gems soon

To minimize the risk, I agree more on the first point, when we are not sure anymore with altcoin, maybe the next method is with bitcoin. while the market today is more in favor of bitcoin, I think bitcoin is the right choice in market conditions like this.

How long will one continue to renew the portfolio of altcoins, majority of us today made sure that we research on some altcoins that we have in our wallet some years back before adding them, but still at that, we still have so many coins that has not entered exchange and some that are dead already, and this is just barely 3 to 4 years, if we renew our portfolio with mew ones now, what assurance do we still have that these new ones will still not act alike in the next 4 years also.

Most of the altcoins you see are just not so good to be held for a long term project, they are just better for short term investment while the only coin that still remains a long term investment coin would be bitcoin, so any portfolio that needs to be developed now should be filled with bitcoin.

Agree and believe that simply adding a coin in your portfolio and forgetting about it is not a successful strategy anymore. You can forget about token swap or something else. Furthermore, adding new coins to portfolio would help to add some diversification.

Those alts that are now in my wallet can be sold very cheaply,I will not touch them,I do not see the point,let them lie,maybe the price will rise.And about bitcoin I fully agree,in the future I will try to move from alts to btc.

We realize the market is not in a good condition right now, but this is not a serious problem. This is normal and often happens in crypto.

So, all of you decide to go to Bitcoin or stay on altcoin or you can have both Bitcoin and Altcoin at the same time, that's just my personal suggestion.

I have long been an ardent fan of Bitcoin. Once I bought altcoins for a long-term investment, but the losses incurred taught me not to trust altcoins.
Now, of course, I have altcoins of the exchanges on which I participate IEO, however, I do not plan to keep them for a long time and I keep the main amounts of my savings in Bitcoins.

Then that doesn't mean that the market isn't really bad if bitcoin is performing pretty well. How it can be a bad market if the king is doing good, it's bad for most holders that has their assets mostly on altcoins.

Don't buy unusual altcoins and keep more bitcoin as your main highlight of your portfolio, that's the key. Learn from your own experience if you are into altcoins that are currently bloody and also learn from others experience.

5-10 years? many will last to forever while some will be gone in a year or shorter.
Average alternative coins will be for years, we dont know which and what will be.
The decision will come from:

Team developer and its development.
Demand from the people and dump from them.

Both of the options you mentioned are options for anticipating losses with current market conditions, my portfolio is listed in the top 5 coins, and there are several tokens that I think are very potential.

Altcoins will be around more than you expected and dont join the group of people that dump their altcoins for bitcoin cos im sure they will regret the decision later on,every altcoin holders should hodl altcoins with good potential and they will have good result,there are many good altcoins that are not up to top 10 on cmc so research will be needed to figure them out

It's very important to always check all the coins that are in your portfolio, even if those coins are the top coins in the market, we can never be sure, timing is very important, there will always new coins in the market that will have a potential and there are old coins in the market that will lose its value, it's important when you should trade that coin in profit, you can do this by following each coin, those that are in your portfolio and those coins that are recommended by investors.

Don't panic. Has not yet come a time when altcoins are afraid to lose their price. Now there are new projects and they are successfully raising their price in the market. Yes, it is slow but it can make a good profit from trading. Hold cryptocurrency in this case is not respectable.

I agree that we need to change the portfolio we have to follow the trend of the market. We cannot depend on the old coins for a long time because the trend will change, and there will be a new competitor for the old coin, especially if they have a strong project. We can change the portfolio when the price increases but if the price is still at a low price, then I don't think we can sell it at a low price because that will make us get a lose. We cannot add more money to buy another coin because that will be too risky. So I think we need to be careful before deciding to change the portfolio because we can get the losses at any time.

current market trends are more in favor of bitcoin, if you want to change your portfolio simply exchange it or replace it with bitcoin. do this opportunity to make a profit. and of course you also keep some altcoin that you have, there will be a time for altcoin to grow the price again.

Yes, I agree and  it's a bad decision and you will end up in a bad portfolio if you are not going to update your portfolio from time to time, so many coins in the market what's profitable today is not going to be profitable tomorrow and a new coin will come with a good potential in the market, it's important to read a lot of news gets updated about the development of coins on your portfolio.

It's wise for every holder of cryptocurrency to have a good strategy for increasing profitability. Altcoin could be very lucrative if the right tokens are held in your portfolio. One should always update the portfolio with good projects.

You have made the right decision and the actions you have taken are the best way to avoid losses on altcoin. I am not much different from you by selling altcoin and replacing it with bitcoin because some of my altcoins do not have a selling price while the current market is more dominant on bitcoin.

I did a mistake that I didn´t change my portfolio. I am still holding top altcoins from 2017, but they continously falling from this year.
While altcoins that were created in 2019 are more profitable: MATIC - 250% ROI, Chainlink  - 1300% ROI, BTT - 25% ROI.

It depends. What if somehow you sold off your altcoin with a 80% loss for BTC or another altcoin. And then within one week, it does a 5x? You're left with your newly acquired altcoin which has not yet moved at all. Portfolio renewal is easy to say. I believe you need to re-assess if the dev team is progressing or not. If the coins are close to being abandoned, only then you should realize your loss.

Though altcoins are not enjoying the best of time now but that is not to say that we do not have altcoins that will be of benefits to us in the future, we don't have to change our portfolio if we have not got a better option.

That is the reason why most of people here are struggling including me, i do sometimes try to re-order my portfolio but i always get confused and also behave lazily but i think good altcoins will definitely make a move soon while btc and eth will also have a great next year, it is both my analysis and gut feeling.

There is no point in accumulating altcoins at the moment, if the price of bitcoin goes down altcoins will crash both in dollars and in bitcoin, the time to accumulate altcoins will come once we see an important correction in the price of bitcoin, also there is no point in accumulating new coins, yes you can get some great profits with a new coin but the risk is not worth it due to the huge number of scammers in the market, but if you are decided to accumulate altcoins now only buy those that are in the top 20, any coin outside of it is simply too risky to consider.

You got it right. Just repeat and recycle the strategy which is invest with the new coins and cash out your profit on the older coins and leave them for good. It is just so funny when most people that go to crypto was really to get money but when they become attach to their coins for so long, they sound noble and will stick to it until it makes and exit scam or entirely delisted.

Bitcoin is increasing lately. But sadly altcoins are not increasing in price as compared to the king coin. So I think time has come to switch to bitcoin or replace worthless coins with good altcoins like ethereum, binance coin etc.

In general, you are right, the price of Bitcoin is constantly growing while many altcoins have fallen in price. Therefore, it was often said here on the forum that you need to keep most of your crypto portfolio in Bitcoin and invest the rest in top altcoins. If you want to picks some altcoin to your own portofolio, you must know how big that potential that you can earn by holding them all. When you already decided which altcoin that will on your list of portofolio then lets ignore it until its reach the target.
So, you can renewal your portofolio after your old lists already sold, not change them just because its dumping. That is a thing that we all must learn.

It's important and it's a must to keep your portfolio updated on what will make a profit and what coins must go, I believe in short and long term profit, there are coins for short term and there are coins for long term, savvy investors know how to distinguish these coins for long term and short term.

I have already exchanged most of my altcoins for bitcoins in early spring. Of course, I still had altcoins on hand, but this is my strategic stock of exchange altcoins where IEOs are held. I keep them in order to participate in IEO on these exchanges.
