Title: Where is better to exchange alts?
Post by: btc_love on August 22, 2019, 03:55:30 PM
I'm a newbie trader and want to exchange my alts. All I know is binance and changelly. In my opinion, binance is too scummy. Changelly seems to be good but they take 0,25% fees and I want to pay less. Can you recommend me a good crypto exchange?

Not sure what is it that you don't like about Binance but I would still highly suggest it If you haven't tried it yet. You also have KuCoin. Both these exchanges allow you to withdraw up to 2 BTC without having to go through KYC. If you don't mind submitting your documents, Bittrex could be another good option.

For Changelly, I wouldn't recommend using them at all, as there have been multiple scam accusations about them lately. The service might be still used by multiple services and wallet providers but there is definitely some selective-scamming going on.

Why scammy? Binance is one of the most top tier exchange as of this moment.I don't know how much fees different between binance and changelly but somehow
its understandable because Changelly is an instant exchange site rather than an entire platform. If you do need to select then both sites is legit.

KuCoin's going to be your best alternative if you're looking for a somewhat reputable exchange that doesn't require KYC upfront in order to trade; there's other exchanges out there that don't request KYC as well but most of 'em are much smaller and shadier IMO. I don't find Binance to be especially shady, but it's got the best volume for most alt pairs. I know some people that use HitBTC as well, but I'm pretty sure they do request KYC if that's something you're looking for.

It might be due to the bad news (leaks, hacks) that went around few weeks ago but that shouldn't stop us from using them in the end they're still an exchange we should always move our funds after trading.

KYC is optional on HitBTC, limits are smaller than Binance they have a 5 BTC monthly limit for accounts that aren't verified.

He is new in crypto, you can understand that OP must have heard the news of those binance hacks, strange he hasn't heard that binance got it all covered. He also don't know about changelly scam accusations, no research must have been done by him to learn which brokers to go with but to let you know BInance is very reputable to bitcointalk users. Binance still is one of the best so far that I have used the fact that a user can withdraw few bits of BTC unlike some exchanges.

I would recommend binance as better exchange to trust nowadays, for sure you won't regret what you've been aiming for. Although it seems more difficult to find good coins these days, somehow you'll be able to see all of those once you're there in their trading environment.

The most important thing to consider is safety, not fees. I trade on ecxx because it is located in Singapore (the Switzerland of Asia), is backed by a 44 million dollar investment round, and uses Ledger Vault cold storage.

Don't be bothered by those news that Binance has been hacked if that is the reason why you think Binance is to scummy. When they we're hacked they admitted and users we're not affected. They we're able to maintain or keep their spot the list of top exchange sites. If its fees that you are looking for, Binance has the lowest if you use BNB token to pay for the fees.

OP wants to exchange his altcoin to bitcoin. He doesn't interested to inveat in any of altcoin atm i think. He complained on here because the fee on changelly is higher than he expected.

Never heard about that exchange, if you are talking about safety, i would go with top exchanges like Binance or OkEx

You may try using Hitbtc which charges only 0.1% of fee if you just want to exchange your alts. However, if you want to trade regularly, it's worth to pay 0.25% to Binance due to the fact that they have a huge volume of traders and their chart tools are very user friendly. I'm not biased with Binance but so far I've seen no problem on it. 0.25% fee isn't a big deal if you take profit using their platforms more effectively than other trading platoforms.

There are lot of exchange site on there, just like livecoin which on my signature.
Lesser fee doesn't mean that's a trustworthy exchange, you should thinking about lesser fee or your funds will be safer, it's so stupid if you choose any exchange only because of their fees.

Choose any of exchange you want on here  https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/  anyway, livecoin ranked on 85th with $21 million USD daily volume trade, it's still good, isn't it?

I have used Binance before and didn't find it too "scummy". Well it has been ages since I last used it, so who knows it might change. But I do remember, heavy graphs or exchanges did cause a bit lag on my computer, but nothing big.
I would suggest you to stick with Binance for now since they are well know in the community. Picking a random casino might just cause you to lose everything.

Good to hear nice feedback from you mate, yet upon reviewing binance recent activities on trading I think more positive ideas can be learned. Hopefully other people won't be diverted by other new exchanges just for promises.
Once we choose better exchanges it should be based on years of operation and reputation, which I believed binance really have that factors to consider.

Good or not, only us will know. In this point, I suggest you to signs up to many exchanges, send some money to deposit, try to trade, what your feeling to trade in each exchange. After that, you will know which is the good exchange to trade because good exchange for one person will be different than the other people.

You need to find out for yourself and don't use other people's suggestions. If you prefer with Changelly, then you should use them for trading, and stick with them because the site can give you the advantage more than the other website.

Been using Binance until now for exchanging my altcoins. So far so good. But if you have doubt on it, you can try some alternatives like OKEX and Coinbase. Or if you are bothered by the fees.
Here, check it out my post.

It shows the comparison of the corresponding fees of different exchanges. If you are bothered with the recent hacking issues. Most of the exchanges experienced that. Binance took the responsibility and give back the hacked btc to the users who were affected.

Use binance to convert or exchange your altcoins because where you can get better price compared to anonymous exchanges like changelly and also trading fee is only about 0.1%.Can you let me know why you think binance is scammy?

Every exchange is not perfect, Binance could be scummy but we can't deny that it's the most popular exchange in the market right now.
If you are looking for big number of pairs and a good volume, Binance would answer that, but if you are afraid of your KYC to get leaked, you should look for another exchange, there's a lot of exchange in the list actually, try to find here https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/ and study carefully every exchange you like before consider using it.

and one of the good platform I could recommend to you are Coinbene, Huobi, Idax, Coinbene and Okex.

You want to pay less and you are still complaining that binance is too scummy, so what exactly do you want and how do you think this crypto world can satisfy you. They too scummy but yet they are still servicing their clients right and users has never for one reason complain about them, the only challenge with have ever seen so far with binance was just that hacking of their exchange, but binance has never had a disrupted services, so if you want fee that is 0.1 percent which is still the lowest for now, then you better stick with that exchange that is too scummy.

Binance still needs people like you because they have too many spaces for large users than what they presently have. They are even still small in database compared to the database of Coinbase.

Depends on the coins you want to exchange. Have you tried Ethereum-based instant exchanges  like
— Switchdex
 https://switchdex.ag/

— Kyber.network (fees are quite low here)
https://kyber.network/

— Uniswap.io
https://uniswap.io/

Those are mostly decentralized exchanges.

✴ Non-ethereum based Instant Exchanges

— Blocktrades.us
https://blocktrades.us/

— SimpleSwap
https://www.simpleswap.io/

— Shapeshift
https://shapeshift.io/#/coins

Normal exchange:
— BitShares:  https://bitshares.org/

It is strange to read something like that. Curious, why do you think that Binance resembles a scammer for you? This is the top-rated exchange, which is trusted. Many world-known huge companies work with it, not only the average traders. You can also try Huobi.
It has many altcoins and you can make really good pairs to make. Certainly, it is up to you, but these are reliable platforms.

A lot of exchanges around depending on what coin we have to convert and of course, I'll be referred to a certain exchange that could give a satisfying price and low-cost transaction fees. But keep in mind that we have to see first its reputation before making trades to be sure that we are not a victim of scamming activities that are commonly happening nowadays.
We have to be careful...

There is No way you can be talking about alts without talking of exchanges. it is like talking about fiat money and banks. for you to exchange your altcoins, you need cryptocurrency exchanges. Binance is good, bittrex is superb. Kucoin is wonderful. bitmex, huobi, decoin exchange are all Good and does not requires KYC for withdrawal. the latest addition is that you can exchange with your bank depending on your location but such requires KYC.
Choice is yours.

and you think changelly hasn't received any scam accusations yet? I think you're new and you should stay safe and not just call anything scam. Read more about anything you see first. Moreover, different coins have different places they're trading at so just select the best amongst what you see them trading at.

What is scummy?
Binance is the best when it comes to volume.
Try Okex too and Kucoin if you are doubting Binance that much.

I think these three are the best ones that have a good volume to really trade and not just sell. Because that is what you need when you are to continue trading, you need popular ones.

Better to use other known or old trusted exchange rather than risking your money on new exchange which seems unpopular on here

any exchange can be subject to a hacker attack or other bad influence that can happen on the cryptocurrency market.  But the fact is that we cannot foresee everything and therefore we must still minimize the risk for the loss of our funds.  Based on this, you need to choose only the highest-rated cryptocurrency exchangers, such as the Binance trading exchange.  Until this time, I used bittrex, Hit btc and IDEX.

And remember to withdraw your coins once finished trading and store it in your own wallet. Though Binance is a reputable one, you can't say that your coins are 100% safe and secure with them because they already had been a victim of hacking incident. It is also true with other exchanges, no matter how secure they are, hacker tools are becoming sophisticated so they can penetrate even the secured ones.

It have to know that Binance is getting hot, not only for investors and traders but also in the eyes of hackers. If they get succeed in hacking Binance again, well it has to be a big money deal for them. Better to spread our funds into different exchanges for not be in one click and gone.

I've used ForkDelta several times and feel secure with, the only problem with is that the price still at very low compared to the others. Bittrex is good as well but we can't find those new created and low volume coins in there.
