Title: Active users, top posters and most active topics in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
Post by: LoyceV on August 25, 2019, 02:59:20 PM
User Pffrt (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=303184) asked for "the number of active users within the last 24 hours along with the rank (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156357.msg52001537#msg52001537)". I like it, and made an overview.
I'm keeping a "running total" for posts made in the past hour/day/week. This can be used to find the worst spammers of the day by checking a few of the top posters.

Active users and top posters in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
Active users and top posters in the past 1 hour: loyce.club/active/1h.html (https://loyce.club/active/1h.html) (updated 5 times per hour).
Active users and top posters in the past 24 hours: loyce.club/active (https://loyce.club/active/) (updated 4 times per day).
Active users and top posters in the past 7 days: loyce.club/active/7d.html (https://loyce.club/active/7d.html) (updated 2 times per day).

Active topics in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
Active topics in the past 1 hour: loyce.club/active/topics1h.html (https://loyce.club/active/topics1h.html) (updated 5 times per hour).
Active topics in the past 24 hours: loyce.club/active/topics24h.html (https://loyce.club/active/topics24h.html) (updated 4 times per day).
Active topics in the past 7 days: loyce.club/active/topics7d.html (https://loyce.club/active/topics7d.html) (updated 2 times per day).

Bans and BPIP
Autobanned and Nuked accounts are marked in red.
Each account has a link to BPIP.

To reduce forum scraping, I cache Rank data for the last 10,000 20,000 18,000 unique users. I'll check later if this value gives the right balance between scraping and staying up-to-date (alternative: abandon data on x Ranks each update). First impression: especially Brand new users are labeled that way longer than they should be.

Limitations
I can't scrape the real rank for Copper Members from their profile, so they have their own category.
I don't count non-public boards (such as Investigations (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=227.0).
I don't show data older than 7 days.

Bugs?
I haven't been able to test this long enough yet, so please post if something fails.

See [overview] LoyceV's useful data on Bitcointalk (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5145594.0) for more of my forum-related topics

Nice, I like this kind of data a lot.  It'd be even better if you could produce a bar graph to represent it--it almost looks like it'd be a somewhat normal distribution centered around Newbies (which surprises me).  I would think the most prolific posters would be Jr. Members, as I see their posts most often when I'm looking around for good stuff to merit.

Royse777 is obviously not a spammer, but I haven't checked the posts of those other members.  I think this sort of data can easily identify spammers and members post bursting for sig campaigns.  Nice job, LoyceV.

What does it mean to the different shade of blue color on the list? Does it mean it has been clicked or not, to be honest, I haven't click it or hovered it on the first time I clicked the link you input here, so what does that mean? (see image below)

That means your webbrowser has visited the link before. I have nothing to do with that :P

Regarding active users, I don't want to open new topic,
and I don't know if they are using it to create fake activity,
but my question is:

 - What to do with fake Questions asked by newbie members? (usually topics)
   1. Answer them
   2. Ignore them
   3. Report them

Nice work, as always.
Are you planning to keep history/archive for the past days? It can be helpful to check some past stats for reference. Like on Friday if I have more time I can check all the top5 spam users for the past week :)

It's probably a good idea to restrict from scraping Bounties (Altcoins) section.

Those are just rando bounty hunters with meaningless reports, 90% of the top 20 are exactly that.

And should be nice to see Users and the stats for 24 hours reporting.
Anyway nice job LoyceV as always .  :)

I don't think this data is public nor scrapable. Only mods can probably see this.

Report them, try to get them nuked!

I wasn't planning to do so, but I'll see what I can come up with :)
Update:
Active users and top posters in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
Active users and top posters in the past 1 hour: loyce.club/active/1h.html (http://loyce.club/active/1h.html) (updated 10 times per hour).
Active users and top posters in the past 24 hours: loyce.club/active (http://loyce.club/active/) (updated 6 times per day).
Active users and top posters in the past 7 days: loyce.club/active/7d.html (http://loyce.club/active/7d.html) (updated 3 times per day).

It's probably a good idea to restrict from scraping Bounties (Altcoins) section.
Bounty spammers are part of the reason I made this ;)

I would if I could :D

I am actually a heavy poster lately. Most of the days I end up posting 10 to 20 posts or even more. All depends on my mood and topic I am engaged.

@LoyceV
It's a nice state and I see my name in the top (I mean in the screenshot) :-P
By the way, do you have plane to have a section of weekly toppers? I am sure I will be one of them most of the weeks LOL

I have no such plan, but feel free to regularly archive (https://archive.is/) pages and make an overview of the most frequent posters.

I am not very smart in data management and analysis like some of you :-P Sometimes I wonder myself how do you and other few users play around with all those information and post so much ideas :-)

Unfortunately, I can't count alt-accounts. Before getting banned, I counted 93 posts from humanrightsfoundation (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=521521) in 7 days. He has only 10 posts left now :P

Can you create some list that shows only new registered users Live?
Not just last one, but 10 or more.

I would like to have a complete list of all usernames, but that means I'll have to download 2.6 million profiles. It's just convenient to have, because now I need BPIP to get a userID when I have a username.
If I do this, a list of the last 10,000 usernames makes much more sense than just 10.

Would be nice to have a tool to monitor new users creation
and their latest posts creating when we click on username.
It can help detecting ban evasion, creating of trolls and humanrightsfoundation clowns

Active users and top 20 posters in the past 7d

Received merits/Number of Posts
I'm considering changing my Merit-data to real-time once I have the time, and if I do, it wouldn't be much work to add real-time Merit earnings for the last hour/day/week to the lists.

To reduce forum scraping, I cache Rank data for the last 10,000 unique users. I'll check later if this value gives the right balance between scraping and staying up-to-date (alternative: abandon data on x Ranks each update).
Well, this failed: With more than 11,000 users who posted within the past 7 days, my scraper started scraping the same profiles several times per day. I've now increased the buffer to 20,000 unique users, I hope/expect 7d.html (http://loyce.club/active/7d.html) to be okay again in a couple of hours.

There's an inconsistency: loyce.club/active/ (http://loyce.club/active/) for instance shows:
Quote
Total: 9070 posts (3946 users)
And the last user is:
Quote
3955. 1 Brand new cyph3r05
I've fixed this :)

Yet more immaculate stats, ty Loyce.
And what do we learn from the latest batch, what intellectual duels and incendiary spirals of creativity have occurred in the last 24 hours....?

The following users posted in the past 24 hours (sorting: most posts first):
1. 116 Member Andersen_KMD....................  spam, reported and deleted
2. 39 Legendary TECSHARE......................... arguing, mainly with #4
3. 29 Newbie 1Excalibur.............................. signature spam
4. 21 Legendary nutildah............................. arguing, mainly with #2

Seems there's a lot of users who are opting to report back as far as 3/4 years ago. I'm not sure how they're finding the threads as they are usually not active recently, and within my section they are just random alt coins with no real significance. Perhaps the automatic reporting that a lot of users seem to now be doing.

So did the lower ranks giving up? Did most of the higher ranking spammers and plagiarizing users gets banned? Or is it the Wall Observer thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.500020) that keeps things in balance?

I think it's all those Chipmixer signatures skewing the results :)

Honestly I would have expected the low ranks to be spamming a lot more but maybe the merit system and more recently the bumping change is starting to de-incentivize useless drivel.

Will be interesting to see how it looks like a month or two from now. The newbie numbers should drop as well.

The results you got in the 24 could be due to the reason that most newbies probably have more than just one account, so when 500 newbies take a break for a few hours, thousands of accounts go to sleep  ::)

This of course does not mean that many higher rank members don't actually post whole lots of useless spam especially in the mega threads, but I doubt they will be able to beat the newbies yet , probably never.

Another commendable tool from Loyce.

On behalf of all campaign managers, I thank you. This will help us track all those spammers much more effectively and deny them entry to our campaigns.

Special thanks to CryptopreneurBrainboss (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1052091) for letting me know about the existence of this thread.

If you need more stats on others visit: Active users, top posters and most active topics in the past 1h, 24h and 7d (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5178726.0)

@OP, I love how you count weekly post, just observed it via speedsheet almost considered leaving campaign but I gave it a second thought, keep up the good work.

Please (someone) +1 merit him for this as I am all out of merits right now.

Due to the hyper activity of one of my favorite scams, Maya Preferred, (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5126836.140) I've been posting like a maniac (for me) the last few hours and may stand a chance of actually getting on a list somewhere (fame at last!  ;D ) but, alas, I fear that the next Top 10 will be filled with people advertising Yobit's scammers hangout shit forum.

What a surprise, for the lat 24h out of top 10 cryptotalk/yobit managed to get 6 places, I'm playing around with my tablet right now so I can't really check more but it is safe to assume they make more than 50% of the top 50?
CM has only managed spot 51, and that probably only because gentlemand is happy with his Q3 prediction game win.

I see also belicose (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=154617) up there and I know him from his pyramid bumps in ECOS and Pdax. Probably now it's more profitable to spam than bump...

I think Yobit should be in a much better place if they had a max 2 post per hour limit in addition to reducing the max post count down by a bit.

Since they are scraping post data through their signature panel, they should be able to implement this easily.

This would quite easily curb down the spam and low quality posts. But no one on Yobit seems to care it seems and Yahoo is pretty much powerless here.

Although slightly off-topic here: I think that's terrible for real users, while account farmers just set a timer and move to the next account to continue spamming.

I'd much rather discuss this on the Yobit participant thread where You and Suchmoon have posted some stats but that thread stays locked as of now. The main campaign thread is also a troll fest. If you come across a more appropriate place to discuss this, lmk I'd happily be involved in a discussion.

I locked the thread precisely because this Yobit shit is already being discussed in a half dozen different threads. There is no need to spread it any further.

Will you continue to update the list anyway?

Probably not. The list is out of sync with reality since I can't easily track who has been kicked out of the campaign by yahoo62278. I might do an update e.g. a month later if the campaign is still alive and if there is interest.

This belongs here too as I use the same script for this:

All posts in the Wall Observer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.0) thread in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
All posts in the past 1 hour: WallObserver.tk/1h.html (http://wallobserver.tk/1h.html) (updated every 3 minutes).
All posts in the past 24 hours: WallObserver.tk (http://wallobserver.tk/) (updated every 30 minutes).
All posts in the past 7 days: WallObserver.tk/7d.html (http://wallobserver.tk/7d.html) (updated every 2 hours).

Domain WallObserver.tk expires a year from now, I'll see by then if anyone uses it.
All times are set to Amsterdam time.

Limitations:
Images still go through Bitcointalk's image proxy, and they don't load when there are too many on one page. In Firefox a fix is to go to the URL-bar a few times, and press Enter. Just "Reload" doesn't help.

Hihi, when I heard the campaign that should not be named dropped their number of paid posts I went immediately and checked and archived your pages.

So on the 7th we had :
168 members with more than 10 posts in the last 24h and 77 with more than 70 posts in the last 7 days.

The number dropped to:
77 with more than 10p/24h and  52 with more than 70p/7 days.

Cause, correlation, coincidence....none of the above?  8)

I was checking the most active users and topics in the morning since it's easier than fishing ...at Walmart, and looking at my previous message, just wow!!!

Quote
77 with more than 10p/24h and  52 with more than 70p/7 days.

While the number of members that make ten posts a day hasn't changed and a few fresh accounts is actually bringing it up, the second number dropped to...16!!!! From 52 members making more than 70/a week to 16!
Thanksgiving?  ;D

/offtopic
Loycev, do you have any stats related to the number of posts made in the altcoin section?
How many were before made in x time before the rules, how much now?
The number of topics using bumping services seems to be on a steep decline!

Who would have thought the accounts that woke up to get paid only post to get paid :P

Sorry, I don't keep track of the boards, only posts. And I can't get the board without scraping one page of each thread again, so I'm not going to do that.
But I have active topics on Bitcointalk.org in the past 7 days (http://loyce.club/active/topics7d.html), which still has a bounty-topic with more posts than the Wall Observer thread, and many of the top-topics are about some useless altcoin.

Great to see that this is up and running again, was so fun to check out members who were posting dozens of posts per day before the banhammer by yahoo had taken place some months ago.

I've seen some theme suggestions on your contest Loyce, are there any plans on using one of them?

I am friendly-bumping this thread with one remark (and request).
On your home page of the loyce.cubs website the link to the Most active topics is missing. You have only the links for the active members (luckily you have the link to this topic too :) .
I know you are busy man (even the AI are busy these days), but when you have some free time, just add a link. Thank you :)

Edit: Actually under the user are the topics. so you just need to edit the link text and add the (topics). :)

How about : Active users, top posters and active topics in the past 1 hour, 24 hours and 7 days (topic on Bitcointalk)

The link to "topics" is also on the "active (http://loyce.club/active/)" page itself.

The Ethereum blockchain has been used to create, hype and sell worthless tokens for years, and they've used the same tokens to "pay" shills for years too. So this is no surprise :(

Update:
Active users and top posters in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
Active users and top posters in the past 1 hour: loyce.club/active/1h.html (https://loyce.club/active/1h.html) (updated 5 times per hour).
Active users and top posters in the past 24 hours: loyce.club/active (https://loyce.club/active/) (updated 4 times per day).
Active users and top posters in the past 7 days: loyce.club/active/7d.html (https://loyce.club/active/7d.html) (updated 2 times per day).

Active topics in the past 1h, 24h and 7d
Active topics in the past 1 hour: loyce.club/active/topics1h.html (https://loyce.club/active/topics1h.html) (updated 5 times per hour).
Active topics in the past 24 hours: loyce.club/active/topics24h.html (https://loyce.club/active/topics24h.html) (updated 4 times per day).
Active topics in the past 7 days: loyce.club/active/topics7d.html (https://loyce.club/active/topics7d.html) (updated 2 times per day).
I've restored the update frequency as advertised. Recently it had gotten very slow, but I think I've solved the problem.

Due to a moved file, bans weren't highlighted anymore. I only found out now, and it's fixed.

Don't worry Loyce, there is hope for us yet.
There is at least of a couple of people returning and increasing the daily post count that aren't spammers or malicious. ;)

P.S. Thank you for continuing to be the Loyce "The Data Directory" V.

As a bitcoin lover it is not easy to quit on the forum. Still the forum is the best source of updates and discussion about bitcoin.

Unfortunately, there are lot of spam posts or replies that are not worth it to read just to comply the number of post required to receive bounty rewards. Bounties are not bad but the people promoting the projects are not doing well in their job. It is more like QUANTITY VS QUALITY in which quantity is preferred by these bounty hunters.

Still there are worth to read on the major boards discussions even though majority of it are spam. I my self had been reading some but I do not like to reply or participate just reading is enough in that sections specifically the latest news and current events of bitcoin development.

Anyway, I do believe one day tha the forum will have users like those known bitcoiners that influences other people inviting more and more users here in the forum. This should be the forum for all bitcoiners but sad to say others still not knowing about bitcointalk forum. For me, the forum is already good to go and functions well and it only need good users to become more interactive with posts and not by the compliance spam posts.
