Bitcoin is pretty much already considered Gold 2.0. Is that enough ? Does it still need to become a currency from here on ? Or is it the new "Gold Standard" that other currencies will be measured by ?

It can be both. It shouldn't be one or the other. While I think bitcoin is in a decent state already, but why should we stop there? Why not continue to improve the ecosystem to make it better? And that's why people are developing second layer solutions for better privacy and better transaction scalability.

The beauty and one of the many advantages of Bitcoin over the physical gold is that it can be the safe haven (store of value) and currency at the same time. i could not understand why there are some people are so impatient when we still don't have massive adoption for Bitcoin when it is so clear that it can really take time to shift from the traditional fiat monies we are using to something that is digital in nature. Bitcoin has so many potential under its sleeves and we are lucky enough to be witnesses to the unfolding of its everyday history in the making.

Being in the market with usage and userbase increasing everyday it has already secured its place and has won in different ways as it is a multipurpose asset. With this we can't limit its growth, there needs continued advancement to meet the growing needs of the common people. Compared to the day it came to usage what it has attained is big, but compared to the fiat it is still an infant. So there is more to come.

The beauty of bitcoin is its versatility as a financial tool and an asset at the same time. I would say it won its battles only if we see its applications manifesting in the real world on a large scale, not only in underground economies and illicit trades where it is commonly used. Well it's an uphill battle IMO, mostly due to the government's participation in trying to make the scene harder to penetrate plus the continuous fear-mongering done by banks regarding bitcoin--but it's doable and winnable.

I believe that the greatest victory for Bitcoin will come when major retail companies like Amazon, Best Buy and the rest starts to accept it as a means of payment. I am sure that a time will come when they start doing that very soon.

While these big businesses accepting bitcoin is definitely going to be great for bitcoin users, bitcoin can still be victorious without these businesses. All bitcoin need is to continue to be secure, decentralized, and hopefully continuously increasing market liquidity as time goes for bitcoin to be decently "stable" enough in price for the masses and the big players to be comfortable in leaving their life savings in bitcoin rather than fiat and or gold.

We have known for a long time that Bitcoin is the winner because it is the beginning of all crypto currencies, without Bitcoin, they are not made. Wise people just got the idea of how bitcoin is created so they created their own blockchain. And also it is trusted and famous coin because even young people nowadays knows bitcoin.

Not necessarily. If they're going to accept bitcoin using payment processors like BitPay that helps to get our privacy thrown of the window, then better not have that. Besides, these companies would probably convert their earnings to fiat so honestly, I don't think that major retailers adopting bitcoin is as important as some people make it look like.

They do it for e.g. marketing purposes, not because of bitcoin itself...
In Europe, a Czech retailer Alza accepts bitcoin, but converts it on the fly to fiat and the invoice contains the fiat value, so it's nothing to do with bitcoin for them.
They just can't risk to accept it and store it while the exchange rate is so volatile, because they work with tight margins and if the exchange rate change eats up their profit, they can close their store in the end...
So, they accept it but receive fiat, they're fine with it, and they can advertise themselves as a store that accepts bitcoin... Also, they can find new customers who have bitcoin but don't have fiat and they don't want to exchange it thru exchanges/localbitcoins/etc... it's easier to pay with bitcoin in a webshop for them (although the exchange rate could be as bad as the localbitcoin rates...)
Also, some of the people who have bitcoin, could think about bitcoin as an 'easy come, easy go' thing based on the method they got their bitcoin (mining, bounties, etc...) and they could shop things for bitcoin easier compared to their fiat (because they work hard everyday for their fiat)

Why does Bitcoin have to "win". You might as well say which is better - a car or a boat? Of course it depends if you are on a road or a river, and neither is any good if you are trying to fly.

bitcoin is a currency, and it has always been a currency from the start. then a lot of speculators came along because price was going up constantly and they could make profit and they started calling bitcoin "gold 2.0" otherwise bitcoin is still the same "digital peer to peer cash" that Satoshi created back in 2008.
store of value alone doesn't mean anything if bitcoin weren't a currency in first place.

If indeed it can be expected globally, Bitcoin is expected to support greater international trade. These benefits are not only obtained by business actors, but also countries that conduct transactions. Although in a global sense, really strict regulations are needed, it seems that the idea of using Bitcoin in international trade is impossible.

It definitely isn't enough. Many countries are crypto friendly but most of the countries have not yet accepted cryptocurrencies as a payment method.
So there is pretty much a long way ahead for bitcoin. Satoshi's vision was to see bitcoin being used as a globally accepted decentralized currency and that is still not been achieved.
Only when bitcoin starts being used globally, we might say that now it's enough for bitcoin  :P

It's true that Bitcoin can be neither or both. There can be something that is both a good investment opportunity and the standard against which the value of other coins is measured. After all, that's what gold used to be when dollar was backed up by it, right? At the same time, despite the great improvements that Bitcoin went through, and a seemingly big popularity boost, we are here actually living in a bubble and overestimating its role for the world. There are no more than 100 million crypto users out there, in the world with 7.7 billion population. So it's about 1% of the population currently using it, which is a very small number. And the rates of adoption are not promising so far.

For me it's enough that it's gold 2.0. I don't see it as a global payment tool because there will be some cheaper and faster ways to do it and people like convenience. They want their precious bitcoins to stay safe at home for a doomsday collapse scenario and spend all the crappy altcoins and fiat.

It's already happening and the altcoin charts from the last year are confirming it.

It can be a measure for other coins yes. As we already measure it price increase and relate it to what is happening to altcoins is enough to say it is like the mirror for them. But whether it is gold, well for me, it is not physical though but is playing a role that conversion that of gold and a currency.

We can't just stop of being a crypto-friendly, it is better to escalate into the higher level and that is by considering it as a currency instead...than just to be an asset in form.
Bitcoin isn't winning yet since the majority of the people are still using fiat and not even accepted locally. It could take years before Bitcoin got it. But I believe it could make it gradually and building a good reputation will help to gain trust from the community.

Gold is used as a medium of storage. We don't use it as a form of currency anymore. Similarly, if bitcoins are compared to gold, it can no longer maintain  and serve its main purpose of being used as a decentralized currency. People will just invest on it to make profit.

Bitcoin is no way described as gold 2.0. If you understand what bitcoin is and the underlining reasons behind the creation of it, you will never relate it or compare it to Gold. Investors in the crypto space are behind why people always want to compare Bitcoin to Gold. These investors have either zero knowledge and understanding or little about what Bitcoin is. Bitcoin is meant to be a currency which removed the restrictions and disadvantages presented by the centralized banking system but investors saw it as medium that can generate profits.

The main reason why satoshi has made bitcoin is to become a decentralized electronic currency(https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf) that we can use. So, it's main purpose as a currency is still there but it is changing and its volatility makes it a perfect store of value.

But, why remove the other purpose of it if we can use it as both at the same time, as currency and investment?

The selling value of Bitcoin cannot be stable, so it is difficult if Bitcoin is said to win. The government is difficult to manage Bitcoin because the change in selling can be influenced by anything. But we can enjoy the benefits of Bitcoin and the winners are those who have gained wealth from Bitcoin.

It is in my view. Bitcoin can be a winner if all countries recognize that Bitcoin is there. We can see that many countries prohibit Bitcoin.

Well, considering the latest "fake" Swiss Gold bars that have been stamped with counterfeit refinery logos, a lot of people might agree that Bitcoin might be a better investment, because bitcoins cannot be faked.  ;D

Bitcoin is the "Gold Standard" for other currencies, because it is more efficient and cheaper to use than other currencies. <cross border transfers.> It also gives people more freedom and accessibility to their wealth. <24/7/365 access to their coins>  ;D

We can't really say if it's enough. It can go beyond our imaginations. If it is considered Gold 2.0 or will consider as official digital currencies or both, how would we know that? The future can only tell, but as we can see the bitcoin's development is growing, the blockchain technology is increasing and been known by many people now. So, it is possible.

It will never be far from gold right now since a lot of people are looking at it as one.

Though I don't see it improving in the near future, I think the highest it can get is to be a payment method which other people and companies are thinking about. There are still problems with how will they do it since we all know the problems it has as a payment method. Steam accepted it in the past, they stopped because of the high fees and the volatility of it, still they said that they may re-evaluate in the future that means it might happen again.

It seems to me that it is very generally said that it looks like gold.  It’s just that bitcoin is independent, it is decentralized, it is valued, but still it’s not gold, it’s something else.

For me, bitcoin is like gold in the world wide web, and bitcoin is a new investment for me, which can give me a profit like gold. I tried to invest in gold too but in a small amount. But unfortunately, not all people in this world realize about the opportunity that bitcoin can give to them and they still don't want to know about bitcoin. It seems they are comfortable with the traditional way they already used, but if bitcoin can show more power in the future, I am sure that all people will aware and will follow the earlier people to invest in bitcoin too.

Gold is a much better investment when it comes to bitcoins vs gold , it's slow and stable but it does the trick. I think more or so bitcoins is treated as a commodity but at the same time it is like a currency but not entirely .
I would say it's 50% like a commodity and 50% like a currency and it soley depends on the user who is using it .
The fact that they decide to use it as a currency or as a commodity ...
I think it's on the user not bitcoins.

BTC is 10 years old, for me it's a big winning for all of us
We are in a process of growing, with optmism and a huge support, this is good for now and for the future but we need to keep working to spread about BTC because there's a lot of room to improve

and in 10 years, we can't simple define BTC, it's a lot fo things, a currency, an investment, a new technology, a disruption...

The Chine-USA conflict which is a real trading war already has affected the market. Bitcoin has gained more popularity and the number of financial deals with it increased by over 280%. At the same time, gold became a bit more popular, but not as much as BTC.

As we see, investors, especially, the largest one consider Bitcoin the better asset for now, but it still does not mean the BTC victory.

What has this led to?

Bitcoin was made to replace fiat currency and become the best payment network.

Now we are comparing it with Gold and discussing whether it can replace Gold. What a Big Joke!

Bitcoin is not a commodity it is a digital currency that is meant to overcome the hurdles of Fiat currency. It would be rather wrong to compare it with Gold.

I think that the main objective is the currency side of it and we cannot limit it to gold alone, which means we will be limiting it to being store of value while it can also serve as both gold and currency. What is the problem with our financial system is not investment right now, and we have more things to deal with.

The problem is the general financial system that has rotten and the limitation to some transactions within the traditional banking system using fiat, and this was known to be the main reason n was created to have that has primary function while store of value which we refer to as that gold 2.0 is just the secondary function of it which I usually term the reward focusing bitcoin system. It is a good thing that bitcoin is gradually gaining the store of value title, but what of the currency aspect?

Bitcoin have their own market, and same with gold. Both of them have advantage and disadvantage, and we can not say one is better than others

Gold is better for long term stable investment, but not as a payment. Bitcoin is better for payment and not for long term investment because of volatility. I ever saw some website that claim that he provide digital gold and send gold as payment to merchant, but actually it's not.

Bitcoin has already won in his innovations without bitcoin no other coin, but bitcoin has not yet win against gold

Even though bitcoin is not considered as gold 2.0 that is still enough. Bitcoin didn't need to make a big name to be known by other people. Both bitcoin have an advatage and disadvantages it just on the people who can manage their investment in either gold or bitcoin.

Bitcoin has come a long way, having stayed strong for 10yrs now is much of a win to me. On the other hand, comparing Bitcoin to gold is kind of unbalanced comparison as both of them don't work with sane sane system. And again, Bitcoin is should be considered as Gold 2.0, Bitcoin is a crypto and not metal.

if there are thing such as gold 2.0 then that will still be gold in upgraded fashion but you cant call bitcoin a new gold or a gold 2.0 because its not a gold anyway  . bitcoin needs to become a currency because that is its purpose but it can also work the other way around   . it can work like a gold in which you can buy and make it as an investment asset   .  gold standard are much superior and bitcoin is not on the level of gold or on the standard of gold yet  . it will still take many decades and centuries to prove itself but its possible that other cryptos are being measured by bitcoin  .

There is no winning for as long as Bitcoin's value solely depends on its brittle reputation as a store of value. Gold is something whose value is sealed for eternity. Bitcoin cannot be like that. In fact, if we truly think of it a little bit deeper than most of us, without bias or prejudice, Bitcoin came from nothing and such is the very reason why it will also be gone. In the next 50 scores, or 10 decades, or the next couple of centuries or millennia, we do not know. What we know is that Bitcoin, too, shall pass.

Becoming a currency is an awesome feat for Bitcoin but it will not keep it forever wanted and utilized.

It can be an investment asset indeed, but the catch is Bitcoin can rise high to the point that it will provide a huge benefit to those people who are interested to work and continue to invest their money. A lot of speculations regarding to the possibilities to become another venue of investment and wait till the value to rise high and become a good asset for its long term success.

I don't think it moves along those straight lines really. Bitcoin didn't ever stop being a currency, it started as something that attempted to be currency, was finally used by a few people and then adopted by others.

It's still a currency to guys like me, we only get paid in Bitcoin. This forum is full of Bitcoin users sending and receiving as currency.

Never took to the gold comparison myself. Investment? That's speculation and happens to anything volatile.

We can say that Bitcoin has accomplished its purpose but not 100% but its a lot of accomplishment when it became known to the world.
The only problem that we are facing now as a Bitcoin enthusiast is its vulnerability to being used by those criminals.

If we can only find some way to stop this mischief caused by those criminals by using the name of bitcoins we can help it to become more popular in a positive way. All we can do now is we cannot let those Thug do what they want rather let's educate people that not all bitcoins are being used for criminal purposes only few are used by them.

In general, Bitcoins are being used as a means of payment by some big company in the world and in the local public government office, office on some other country, Bitcoins are being used to as a legal way of payment.

Bitcoin is considered as currency, Everyone cant change that fact unless satoshi Nakamoto does a thing in order to change bitcoin.

On the gold standard, Every gold that your country had is converted into fiat.

Regarding the post of OP. The gold standard doesn't apply to bitcoin. These are the reasons.

First, You can't convert all of the fiats into bitcoin because it has a fixed asset.

Second, you won't know who is the one who is holding bitcoins

There is more disadvantage than disadvantage thats why this will never be the new gold standard.

Bitcoin has proven itself to be gold for a long time, and users are increasing daily. Please wait patiently.

I believe that the greatest victory for Bitcoin will come when major retail companies like Amazon, Best Buy and the rest starts to accept it as a means of payment. I am sure that a time will come when they start doing that very soon.
Let's face it, those mentioned by you are small fries compared to transactions taking place in petrol industry.
The moment of absolute win and domination of bitcoin over the world is the first, legal and official petro-bitcoin deal.
Obviously it will also mark the new war, war on crypto from our current world policeman...
That's why I still think we can't declare a pure win. Long and twisty road ahead, Pikes Peak seem like corresponding comparison.
Power(adoption), grip(trust) and excellent driver(smart management) will be necessary in order to storm on to the top.

I don't think it is appropiate to compare Bitcoin to Gold. Gold is an hard asset, a precious metal with physical properties while Bitcoin is a virtual cryptocurrency. But fiat money aka USD does not have backing in hard assets(banknotes' materials are pretty much worth 0). Bitcoin is deflationary and it isn't controlled by a central authority like the fiat is controlled by governments. That makes it the perfect contestant to be the first worldwide mainstream currency.

If you are familiar with those SF movies I assimilate BTC/crypto to the "credits" used for transactions in space.

It is true that bitcoin has come along way from the state that it was on a couple of years ago, even though that it already caught the attention of many people and many investors i still don't think that it is considered gold 2.0 yet, and that is due mainly to how governments are regulating it which is holding many from holding it, so they might invest some money in it and once the price goes up a bit they sell it, they are not comfortable in holding it a long time knowing that at any point they could get pursued by law for it, it is going in that direction but there is a lot that needs to be made.

Has it isn't enough. Bitcoin was never designed to become Gold 2.0 or any commodity. Gold is a jewel which is popular because of its scarcity. It was used for a medium of exchange in our history for a short period of time however, it was never designed to be used as medium of exchange. While Bitcoin on the other side  was used for transaction and act as a medium of exchange. It was never developed to create scarcity and increase it's price. So no countries will never make bitcoin as a standard like Gold Standard and nor will people use Bitcoin as Gold 2.0 Investment.

Yes, you are right. Bitcoin and Gold have run for different ways. Some people prefer to invest in Gold while others prefer to invest in Bitcoin, but some others prefer to invest in both Gold and Bitcoin. And so far, Bitcoin can be the investment and also a new payment method on the internet and some in real life.

But Bitcoin can be a Gold 2.0 on the internet and Bitcoin can be a new currency for all country if the government accept Bitcoin. We need approval from the government before Bitcoin can be a new currency so Bitcoin can work in real life and online life. Without that, people will be scared to use Bitcoin because they don't want to break the law.

In many ways, gold is the precious metal counterpart to the bitcoin. Gold must be obtained through mining, just like how bitcoin mined. But, while gold is obtained through physical mining, bitcoins must be “mined” virtually through the deciphering of special computer encryptions. Bitcoin’s characteristics have led to those backing the cryptocurrency to believe it could potentially unseat gold over the long haul, bitcoin is actually superior in many regards.

Bitcoin has been able to address the many flaws of traditional currency and other centralized digital money, combined with its fixed supply and proof of work, POW, It's clear that bitcoin should be consider a digital gold by nations. If not for the sake of Mafias we have in the banking industry and bad politicians, bitcoin should have longed been given the necessary support by the government.

People have to choose whether to use bitcoin as a store of value or a payment system because the bitcoin is both.

First and foremost, Bitcoin is never Gold 2.0. Bitcoin was meant to be a digital version of physical fiat which operate of a platform where people will not need any third party for transactions to be made according to Bitcoin's whitepaper. It is quite unfortunate that the majority of people in the crypto ecosystem see Bitcoin as an investment commodity rather than a digital cash used for exchange of goods and services.

Third, Not everyone can use bitcoin

Um yeah, I was just saying I'm not really a believer in Bitcoin being the gold standard or that Bitcoin is Gold 2.0.

Rather different reasons (or at least, not all the same reasons as you) but yeah, you could convert out all the Bitcoin to dollars right now and not have enough coin, is one reason.

But are you saying we all know who holds all the gold as well? That's not at all possible.

It is hard for Bitcoin to replace fiat money in the future. I think governments might not accept Bitcoin as local currency. But I think more and more people will start to use Bitcoin because of having the full control on their digital money. So, in my opinion cryptocurrencies will always continue to grow and there will always be new ones.

Every time Bitcoin rises up from a crash event, it wins.

And I think most people here would agree with me. I see news like Binance Coin continues to fall despite market recovery (https://decrypt.co/9782/binance-coin-continues-to-fall-despite-market-recovery) and people somehow link the failure of an altcoin to Bitcoin. And it infuriates me.

Then there are stories like that where the UK police force auction off more than £240,000 of cryptocurrency (https://www.engadget.com/2019/09/30/uk-police-auction-talktalk-hacker-cryptocurrency/?guccounter=1) and somehow people think that Bitcoin's market volume is so weak that it can't sustain its prices if only an estimated $294,000 worth of BTC is dumped then the overall value of BTC would be depreciated..

Seriously, every time Bitcoin crashes and there are wild stories and speculation for the reason behind like those that I mentioned, and BTC keeps on bouncing back, and in all those times, Bitcoin wins.

Remember;
"Bitcoin has been described as an undeniable form of wealth with an irrefutable book of records"

I believe that the greatest victory for Bitcoin will come when major retail companies like Amazon, Best Buy and the rest starts to accept it as a means of payment. I am sure that a time will come when they start doing that very soon.

Bitcoin being created by Satoshi Nakomoto, releasing it to the internet, using blockchain for this, started in a very cheap price and booming us every year for huge fluctuations(in a good way) is already a great achievement for that Bitcoin does every single day since its birth. Many people didn't believe on it first, but after years and years goes by as it evolves, those who believe in it and invested earlier made a fortune on it and it changed their lives.

And bitcoin is still doing that, every year bitcoin remains the king of all cryptocurrencies, surviving every obstacles its facing, but how? it is simple because Bitcoin is the winner since day one, and no one could ever replace that.

Today, almost all the financial structures of the world observe the cryptocurrency market, analyzing it for possible real use in the economy of their countries.  Based on this, the Central Bank of Canada has already published its report that it is concerned about the situation regarding Bitcoin, which today seems insufficiently efficient and too expensive to mine.  As the document says, to get rid of this problem, you need to improve the speed and cost of the transaction.  Experts from the Central Bank of Canada are confident that the problems will disappear after a complete change in the consensus protocol.

There is no win or lose. Yes, Bitcoin is currently dominating the cryptocurrency space by far. However, there is no such thing as winning or losing because many coins have different purposes and Bitcoin just happens to be the king. So you can say that since Bitcoin is King, he is winning. but if the King has no population, then what's the point? So all of the coins matter because they contribute to the cryptocurrency infrastructure and ecosystem.

Bitcoin is like easy to spend stocks. When you buy at the stock market and buy oil or gold they actually have to trade that gold and oil (I know how primitive right?) Instead of wasting all that time when you can just take your stocks themselves to a place that will accept them and spend them directly. This is one of the main advantages I see crypto has over traditional stocks. Because they not entirely tied down to something they can be traded with more ease.

For me bitcoin has already won. It is my primary and first to go-to choice for payments. MOstly everyone here knows why. For me it is just the speed and the guarantee that your bitcoin is yours when it is in your wallet. No chargebacks or things like that. Chargebacks would make me worry as a merchant since some people get nasty or seem to justify themselves making chargebacks in some wat or another when they really shouldn't be making any. Buying gist cards for steam and google play is so quick. I can't buy a gift card in-store at that speed. I must drive there first. Online I must use fiat which takes too long so a digital currency works will for digital things since the speed compliments one another.

Nope, The gold standard happened before and everyone is obsessed with gold. The more you have is the more you can produce fiat. Every country is sorting the gold amount they have and converting it into fiat.

I just think Its hard for bitcoin to be a new gold standard especially bitcoin has a fixed amount and gold are keep increasing. It won't pair each other.

We know we can't still use bitcoin as our global currency which adds to the factor of not having bitcoin as the new gold standard.

Can't put it any better than this. Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency right now. But that doesn't mean that the development activity should be ignored. If we want Bitcoin to remain at the no.1 position in the near future, then innovations needs to be made to the existing technology. A lot many good proposals are being put forward, but only some of them are being implemented due to the lack of consensus.

Talking about the second layer, the implementation of the Lightning Network has made the life easier for a lot of the Bitcoin users. The transaction fees has come down to tolerable limits and after its implementation, Ethereum lost one of its advantages over Bitcoin (as evident from its steep loss in value versus BTC). Now the Ethereum daily transaction fee is greater than that of BTC.

We should not stop with the Lightning Network. More actions are needed to address the two main concerns - scalability and privacy.

Some people are so impatient. Must you compare Bitcoin to gold and other currencies? Why not just compare it with other cryptocurrencies?? There isn't much adoption for Bitcoin yet you people are comparing it with gold that have been around for centuries. I just wonder how some people sees this Bitcoin of a thing.

Bitcoin is good, but that doesn't mean that it will become everything. It's just a digital asset and won't he anything more or less than that. As for those that feels that Bitcoin is going to be the currency of the future, well, in case you don't know, other cryptocurrencies has the same vision to be the currency of the world.. But the truth is that none of them will become that. When the time comes that the world will have to make use of cryptocurrency, it's still going to be the same currencies that we are using now transformed to its crypto form. Every country will have theirs and it will be regulated by the government. There can't be 100% freedom as long the word government still exists.

Bitcoin hasn't reached a complete success yet. Yes, it's a good investment which is comparable to gold but we all know that it could do more than an investment. Bitcoin success is when bigger companies and different merchants would accept and adopt it as a digital currency. Bitcoin as a mode of payment would bring a good impact on the market situation.

Yeah you can say that with big smile. Bitcoin has won, because bitcoin has become a valuable asset in human history. Imagine
gold, which has been an investment asset for thousands of years, can be beaten in terms of price by the new bitcoin
just a few years. Don't forget bitcoin also created many opportunities to make profits on the internet. And bitcoin has
overcome the problem of poverty globally, even though it's not optimal. But many new rich people printed by bitcoin.
Even the proof that bitcoin has won are many , example inspirational stories spread on the internet many people can buy a car,
house, jewelry, motorcycle, and other valuables things with Bitcoin. Blockchain  technology changing human lives become better.
Thanks to Bitcoin, I love u Bitcoin.  :-*

Will be better to be a currency.
We have the internet now and if stays just like gold then it might get left behind with just a couple of years and no one will ever care.
Unlike being a currency. The everyday usage of people could take it to greater heights.
Most of the time I do online orders for the items that I want and I also want my payment to be secured and fast.
That is one only of many examples that bitcoin could do and I simply want that to happen by now.

Bitcoin has its own qualities and it is never gold 2.0.  I don't really think majority of people in the crypto space have taken their time to read the entire contain of Bitcoin's whitepaper. The reason why the value of Bitcoin has increased with the pass of time is the increase inn the demand of it. Because Bitcoin continues to face increasing volatility, it is very likely that the market will soon get a better understanding of whether the Gold 2.0 narrative will be enough to lead BTC on other satellite dishes. Bitcoin (BTC) has experienced decent upward momentum, which has strengthened the "digital Gold" narrative.

I think that the largest investors will only buy Bitcoin. This is due to the highest degree of reliability and liquidity that Bitcoin provides. Altcoins are still a very speculative tool in the cryptocurrency market.

If adoption rate can increase, then it is possible that bitcoin actually pass for Gold 2.0 because like you said, the more the demand of bitcoin, the more that it appreciate and this is also the case of gold too, so bitcoin can still be held as store of value right now, just like the way people do hold gold believing that its value will increase.

The adoption rate of bitcoin is still very low, and if at this level of adoption, the price has already crossed over $7000, now imagine what the value will be in future when we have high growth of adoption. I don't know the percentage of adoption right now, but I am sure that it is still not up to 10 percent off the whole population. The market cap of bitcoin will still enter trillions definitely as we have more demand, so to me, bitcoin is more like gold right now.

Is it really necessary to have an "adoption rate", do we really have to have statistics about that?

1) The changes in Bitcoin's price isn't the same case as the gold. If people mined "gold" it doesn't necessarily affect its charts in the market, as it has a very "stable" market price. Unlike Bitcoin, since it is being mined "constantly", we can already see how it affects the charts in the market. Scarcity is the key--recap: the less the quantity of a priced "object"(tangible/intangible), the more valuable it is--Gold's scarcity isn't determined because we don't actually know every piece of gold sitting on this Earth, on the other hand, we already have determined how many Bitcoins are there, though we can't determine how high its market price would go, but I'm pretty sure it will be more expensive than Gold ever was.

2) Bitcoin's price was $19k in 2017, though it's just a massive bubble, I could assume that the number of users(who owns, holds, trades) now isn't that much of a difference back then. Though exposure would help(?), it will still be determined on how much.

No, I dont think you can call it Gold 2.0. Yes in terms of as an investment and something that has value, bitcoin is maybe getting the edge, but gold as a whole, bitcoin can never replaced gold. The reason is that gold has different purposes. One is its used in medicinal equipment. Others are used in tools and other type of equipments that requires gold. I might be sounded funny because I take it literally, but again it is the real thing.

that assumption is from individuals. Until now there are still many governments that do not know Bitcoin. or they know bitcoin, but it's not legal. Personally, I consider bitcoin to be digital gold. because the concepts and properties are mostly the same as gold. bitcoin gold mined in mines, gold has a limited stock. bitcoin is also the same. rather than currency, I prefer Gold. I just think when the USD is replaced by gold / digital gold, then the equality of each country I think will be the same.

What do you think is enough? I don't think alike, Bitcoin has to go a long way. because only a few countries have accepted Bitcoin as a digital currency not more than that, Still, it isn't a currency anymore. it's true that a lot of countries are cryptocurrency-friendly but not all, so in comparison with Gold and currency announcement is not a good enough thinking, It's nothing if you can't get accepted everywhere, I don't think that Gold isn't comparable to Bitcoin in terms of acceptability and popularity, so Bitcoin is still in the struggling position and there is way to win anymore, I also think that Gold 2.0 doesn't bring any important thing regarding cryptocurrency establishment.

Bitcoin is pretty much already considered Gold 2.0. Is that enough ? Does it still need to become a currency from here on ? Or is it the new "Gold Standard" that other currencies will be measured by ?
Bitcoin is a currency but can be considered as gold also, but winning?no absolutely not because we have long run to go.we haven’t even recognized by 1/4 of the governments around the world
We haven’t been adopted by masses so the struggle is still far but at least there is a light that we are looking in future and how long will it takes?thats what we need to wait

Then where do your assumptions come from?

Do you really think that the Government is turning a blind eye? Do you really think they're that naive? Even third-world countries already knew what's Bitcoin and companies already establish some new "businesses" (even in existing businesses) as means of regulation/acceptance of the exchange from some selected cryptocurrency to their specific currency (fiat). And the governments provide permits for them to run the business and these companies pay their taxes as means of "business".
