Title: What will happen to alts if Bitcoin crashes back to $5000?
Post by: msg768 on September 05, 2019, 02:21:11 AM
I don't think many alts would recover against Bitcoin if this happens and so they will crash even more. Some solid alts with good liquidity like Litecoin may recover but most won't recover in my opinion. Thoughts? :-\

Here is are things that I would like to share and for you to think about it and to get some ideas.

1. I agree some wont some may not. Altcoins sometimes do depend on bitcoin sometimes it does not depend on bitcoin, that is what I had seen and experienced.

Why did I  say/ write sometimes? because bitcoin is the mother but in reality sometimes the rate of altcoins depend on the investors.

Question here, why do you think litecoin would not recover. please do share

2. Here is my perspective about litecoin (as others as well) which our thoughts /perspective is kind a same but for me every altcoin or the bitcoin itself have/ had its time which is a long term situation now LTC may go down but late it could not and could crash like you said.

3. Anything is possible because cryptocurrency is worldwide and we dont know how much people would sell and but

I have wondered about the Bitcoin crash situation but I think of it in even more disastrous conditions. You say $5000 and that is only 50% drop from today. I think more in terms of real disaster. Like below $1000 price, even worse than 2016.

IF that happens. Kiss goodbye to 99% of alts,,, I think.

For Altcoins it is better for bitcoin to keep increasing in pricing because if bitcoin fall to $5000 some of them will be deleted from the market as there will be valueless! The only way some of them can survive now is to make bitcoin to get to $20,000 or $40,000. Some of this altcoins has the best technology but it is very hard for any of them to survive on there own as bitcoin’s dominant keeps increasing daily.

Only major altcoin (top 15 CMC) will survive and another altcoin will be dumped sharply in the market.
Remember this scheme:

If BTC Pumping, Altcoin Will stay
If BTC Dumped, Altcoin will dump
If BTC Stable, Altcoin will pump

for altcoin which can't deliver a good product and they will be dumped to the bottom. this time the situation is much more different than before when bitcoin gets the bullish trend and it has been giving more pressure to the altcoin and otherwise.
When bitcoin crashes to the 5k rate and it may possible to see some altcoin still stable on its rate but it has been loosing a lot of rate in bitcoin term or there will be altcoin that will be getting a big lost in the bitcoin term or even dumped to the zero value.

if bitcoin price down and back to $5000
the price of alts in usd terms will down too,, because alts price in usd terms is depends on bitcoin price right ?
but maybe in btc terms few alts with solid and smart team will grow,, and a lot of shitcoins will die  ;)

Yes, they will crash and many of them will definitely going to have the hardest time again just like what most are experiencing today. Note that bitcoin is $10k+ but many of them can't even stand against the bullish sentiment of bitcoin.

Some solid alts with good liquidity like Litecoin may recover but most won't recover in my opinion. Thoughts? :-\
They can recover but it's going to be slow and its fluctuation won't be the same as bitcoin. But I think many have set their timers and price tickers to start panic buying whenever bitcoin goes $5k and its a signal for some other cheap alts.

Altcoins will have a good recovery if Bitcoin can stabilize for a long time because currently Bitcoin has a great overwhelming dominance and is dominating this market alone, so I think it will be difficult for altcoin to recover. You may consider altcoin as a good option to invest but there will be a lot of risk for yourself because the current market has a lot of big fluctuations. I personally only hold Bitcoin and Fiat because this market condition does not allow me to invest in risk

I respect your opinion but you should consider checking the market history first before advertising Litecoin here.and also don’t jump into conclusions when the price of bitcoin is not falling from 5 digits for atleast a month or more

If this happens, it will be total destruction for alts, they will go to the all time lows and even lower. BTC then easily have 90% + dominance.
But I do not think that 5000 is likely because of the whole world financial situation. I think there is enough demand to support 7-8k lowest levels.

There would be for sure some good buying opportunities. But they would be only for a short period of time. Each coin have its own bottom not related to any other coin.

Litecoin will recover even if bitcoin is crash and so do with the other strong altcoin.
But I admitted that it might be difficult for the altcoin to try to recover the price.
Maybe it could happen in slowly, and it will need a long time to be back to the price before.
I believe that the altcoin will still exist even if bitcoin crash in the deep price and maybe there will be a time to reset the altcoin position so the market will be growth again.

Altcoins will probably remain dead. The altcoin markets always need new blood and newbies only come when the Bitcoin market surpasses its all-time-high-price. The last altcoin season came after breaking $1,150 (the previous ATH).

So you think bitcoin will crash down back again to 5000$ well  i assure you that bitcoin will never go on that price again. And for the alts ,only the strongest will remain,  all altcoins that are only pump and dump, no working product, will be eliminated.

In crypto platform Bitcoin is the father of cryptocurrency, so peoples are like the Bitcoin investment. Other altcoins are doing great job but most of the people concentrate the top coin so Bitcoin and few altcoins are maintain the constant value. But innovative projects are always welcome in this platform. So Bitcoin is moving backward automatically many altcoins moving backward and some altcoins are maintain the constant level on crypto market.

If Bitcoin crashes back to $5000, the altcoins will crash back too even more and many altcoins will become worthless. It is proved that most altcoins markets are depending on the BTC market and price, and any increasing or decreasing of BTC price is affecting altcoins prices as well.

I'm bullish but I'm balancing things and there's still a chance but that would be the slightest that I can imagine. Just for the sake of being ready for the unexpected things, everything is possible for the price of bitcoin as it remains volatile.

And for the alts ,only the strongest will remain,  all altcoins that are only pump and dump, no working product, will be eliminated.
Sure those reliable and strong alts will remain. Those altcoins and tokens that doesn't work what they have proposed will soon to be dumped by most of their investors and can't eventually go up and will have a zero volume.

Solid projects like litecoin will recover I think.

What is a solid project?   a solid project is that project brings something new on crypto table. Something that will be used 10 years from now and Bitcoin cant do it on their own.  I am sorry to tell you that Litecoin is excluded in category of solid projects.   But I am not saying it will die or anything like that. It will just never be used much. There will be millions such not used coins and each of them will have some price, that will not be that high. But they will still exist.

Well, the reaction from altcoin is what will come because bitcoin has a great connection to altcoin, the value of altcoin may get a slight sock and go down but a high rate is only temporary because we need to know that bitcoin is down, capitalization will need to run to the right position, it takes time for that and the proper position is altcoin. And altcoins will constantly have pumps when capitalization returns, this scenario is something we can see often and this is what I want right now, altcoin is catastrophic enough, it needs to come back and so do investors

This is what I think would happen, most of the Altcoins would crash along with it and put many projects out of their misery because they now lack money to continue working on their project but few projects will rise and would share more of the market dominance then people will feel there is need to look for a strong alternative to BTC

First of all is it even possible to see BTC below 5k, Surely that is bound to cause serious panics and maybe some altcoin at that time might come up stronger basically due to more buys and change of dominance but the question is who is ready to possibly take that dominance

It is obvious even the considered stable coins do possess a price drop and it always required to quickly keep observing the market and implement a decision plan to ensure a managing operation in our trading else it might end up in loss and a safe play is choosing a stable coins instead a new alt.

If you believed that there is a sort of correlation between Bitcoin and Alts then you might as well say that some altcoins will perished because of this or the top ten coins will be like 90%-98% down again. Ethereum has recovered from $80 to it's current price. So that's a good test to look at again if Bitcoin crashes to $5000, probably Ethereum will be < $80.

However, if you think that investors are going to shift their funds to altcoin, then we might see altcoin market flourish again because of the Bitcoin crash.

So we really can't tell at this point what will be the overall sentiments. We all know that crypto is very volatile and it can change dramatically for the better or worse.

I hope it's not going to happen, we have the momentum in our side but if ever it crashes, it could be the end for most altcoins especially those altcoins who do not have products and platforms that community will be using for the long term, everytime Bitcoin and the market is down, most of the altcoins also cease to exist.
What happens is something like a purge, the market will make these shitcoins to vanish and the one that would likely to stay are coins with real usage.

In my opinion, the fallback to the old support level of the chart can take the market cap back to the 2018. The altcoins will not be able to go up if the BTC price doesn't cross the $14000. The price predictions are useless unless it gets realized by the market itself. It can be the final destination for the most altcoin but the deep prices will be pumped by the small social groups, anyway. Massive selloff can cause the speical effect on the market, the crash will continue affecting the altcoins too. Altcoins should not be traded during the BTC selloff in my humble opinion. There are so many potentially good and technical analysis support4ed coins which lie on the buy zone. The buy zone is the best time to enter the market with the BTC but it is a personal preference which backed up with the experience by different traders.

Then a massive crash of altcoins would occur too, do you still remember when Bitcoin hits $3,500 this year? You notice that a lot of altcoins were painted red in the marketcap that's why we should be thankful that Bitcoin now is way more higher than the price of $3,500. Most of us think it is the end of Bitcoin and weak-handed were forced to sell their coins because of the FUD that they experienced.

That is very possible if that sceanrio goes come true a lot of altcoins we need to say goodbye if the bitcoin crash at 5,000$ or down to 1,000$.
But as of now we need to stay calm and relax do not imagine that negative expectation from the crypto space that isn't healthy to the community.

The best scenario went bitcoin going a dip its :
  • A lot of crypto user saying bitcoin will going to zero/rekt
  • Everyone will ask the same question "When bitcoin back again to 20K USD"
  • Crypto Influencer disappear went a "Bear" market coming, and back again went the "Bullis" already back
  • Everyone start selling all his crypto asset.
Bear was always interesting, this reminds me went a lot people predict bitcoin will going to 1-2K and they all making a wrong prediction.

I once a difficult experienced thing that when the price of bitcoin is under $ 3,600 (january 18), of course this makes me lose up to $ 6500 because many altcoins also drop, I hope the price of bitcoin does not drop under $ 10,000 again.

I also hope that this will never happen again because if Bitcoin drops below $10,000 then the bear market will surely be triggered and we must continue to suffer new adjustments from this market. I have lost a lot of money in this market but my belief remains, so definitely holding Bitcoin is the safest option for everyone. In addition, you can invest in ETH or BCH as these are two coins that tend to increase with Bitcoin

Most times all altcoins available in crypto space will follow bitcoin lead if bitcoin increased in value, altcoins must add value atleast and if bitcoin loses value it affects altcoins but only very high demanding altcoins care less about bitcoin movement because they have what it takes to surge in value and non dependent on bitcoin movement

Well-established coins like the popular ones will recover but the others I dont think they will recover.

We know if btc pump the price of some altcoins follow, but if btc dropped in price alts will suffer even more.

If btc recover only popular coins will follow the path of btc and this is not the case for not popular alts. The price of alts depends on the investors so if there's no investors then the price will definitely plunge.

That is what I am thinking so far. In this year, we see bitcoin price can rise higher than the last year. The altcoin will following bitcoin to recovery, but like bitcoin, we don't know when it will happen. I am okay with the risk that I might get from bitcoin because I believe that bitcoin won't disappoint me or others in the future. I can accept that the bitcoin price always changes and fluctuated every day, and I think I can make a profit from that. The only thing that I concern is when the dump and pump that will comes because sometimes I miss that time to buy or sell.

Alts really have been struggling for a while, and still haven't really recovered much after the huge 2018 dip. I would say give it time though. There are some good alts out there that offer solutions that Bitcoin does not. If BTC drops to $5k again, then yes alts would drop too, but I don't think it would mean the end of alts at all. I'm sure the good alts will recover in time. We need more confidence in the market first though.

There are two options. First of all, if BTC price would crash and investors would switch to altcoins, it would be great, because altcoins will be pumped by fresh investments. On the other hand, during BTC crash, alts may fall much deeper than BTC itself.

This is a funny question, it is funny to me because I would not want to even imagine what will happen to altcoins value when bitcoin falls to $5000, we have some altcoins that has already bottomed, and I don't think that anything will really happen to those ones again, because they are almost on their lowest value, but you see those top altcoins that are dependent on bitcoin, they will fall drastically.

I am so sure that some of them will have their prices cut half way, but the good thing about those top coins loosing lots of value right now is that it will attract new and older investors to make more investment because when bitcoin rises back, it also affect most altcoins, which mean that profit for those that invested in the altcoins during the fall of bitcoin.

If Bitcoin goes back to 5000 usd price range this time, a big crash could happen to the word of altcoins as we keep seeing the BTC dominance on CoinMarketCap above 70%. When BTC reaches 5k$ next time, this dominance is going to be even bigger and bigger which will keep the marketcap of btc strong but will have a negative effect on alts.

nothing . alts have thier own life .  if people only sells thier btc then btc is the one that could fall but alts are still stable because they dont sell thier alts but if the scenario happens to be different , let say people will sell both of thier cryptos ( alts and btc ) then this should cause an overall market dump but the chances are low since most people know are hodlers  . in case the price drops due to some sellers , ,buyers will still take that oppurtunity and the price will regen again

Such situations will make altcoins crash more harder,  I guess only the true project that got good fundamentals and long term plan will survive,  as we all see that lots of projects died off during the previous crash of bitcoin to $3k

nothing . alts have thier own life .  if people only sells thier btc then btc is the one that could fall but alts are still stable because they dont sell thier alts but if the scenario happens to be different , let say people will sell both of thier cryptos ( alts and btc ) then this should cause an overall market dump but the chances are low since most people know are hodlers  . in case the price drops due to some sellers , ,buyers will still take that oppurtunity and the price will regen again

You're wrong here, once Bitcoin crashes and back to $5000. Alts will suffer a major decline and even some of them are going to burned out. Remembered what happened with Stemmit after Bitcoin crashed a months ago? they fired 70% of their staff and struggling. And if Bitcoin reaches that price again, that explains people is starting to doubt it and the demand is decreasing. If people think no matter what, the price will eventually go up, then why people do not buy it right now?

The project decisions can't depend on the investor's opinion, the market circumstances don't dictate in every project. The struggling projects can fire the developers and this is somehow understandable. Bitcoin can go to $5000  in single candlestick but not all projects will go to all new assembling. Maybe the market will punish the weak hands which can't command the invested projects but strong minds know how to handle the temporary market trends. The focus is important in this example.

People don't like to hear the truth, they like to see the realized predictions. The market is not only controlled by the logic, but the emotions also move the market mostly. The only logic is not sufficient for understanding the price velocity, emotional traders are like the middle man between the changing market trends. Half of the traders may not agree with my statement, there are a lot of variables that explain the pointed approach in the market.

Bitcoin is a very influential coin in Cryptocurrency.  Therefore if the price of a Bitcoin crashes and falls at $ 5,000, of course the price of other Coins will also follow. This is certain, and this has often happened in charts of changes in the price of Crypto Coins.  Where the price of Altcoin turns out to be very dependent on the price of Bitcoin.

There are two options. First of all, if BTC price would crash and investors would switch to altcoins, it would be great, because altcoins will be pumped by fresh investments. On the other hand, during BTC crash, alts may fall much deeper than BTC itself.

at this moment altcoin price never pumped even bitcoin price are down deeply, in fact the price will go down because adjust to the current bitcoin rate

if the price of bitcoin falls maybe what will happen with the price of altcoin will definitely fall but it will only be a short time because there will certainly be many who run into altcoin and altcoin prices can go back up, only a few altcoins can be like that.

If bitcoin reach $5000 i think people will panic. Although a lot of people said that we shouldn't panic, or maybe be patient is key in bitcoin investment, i think panic will always happen and make bitcoin price and altcoin dumped very hard. Altcoin can get it's impact because people will start to sell their alts because value in bitcoin will decreased too. Not want to say bad but people who get panic will make it worse.

We don't need to panic if that happen because we see a lot of time that bitcoin go down the price but still altcoin and bitcoin survive that bearish situatio.  Don't think negative when we see the price down because it will cost of panic and worse dumping.

I am quite familiar with the market downtrend and every time the market goes down there will be lots of panic sell investors. That will give Fiat holders a chance to invest again because they can be bought at very cheap prices at the time. I usually tend to buy coins that drop by more than 30% in a day because I know if I can buy those cheap coins the chances of making a profit will be very high.

You want something new? How new exactly? Because Litecoin did bring something new with it such as a lower block time and higher supply which made its fees consistenly lower than BTC and because of that LTC unlike BTC didn't have a Bitcoin Cash shitshow. You're simply biased towards Litecoin probably because you don't have any otherwise you're not really criticizing it properly. Litecoin is also as liquid as Bitcoin and exists on almost every single exchange. And unlike Bitcoin, it launched when a lot more people knew about crypto and could compete in mining it as opposed to Bitcoin when only a still anonymous dude knew and was minting 50 coins equal to half a million US dollars per 10 minutes. So yeah sorry to tell you but Litecoin is a lot more solid than Bitcoin. The only advantage Bitcoin has over Litecoin is its utlity in the altcoin markets in which most orders are placed with Bitcoin than Litecoin or even fiat.

If Bitcoin returns to the price you mentioned. It can be imagined that many altcoins are experiencing a very sharp decline. If you look at the conditions in the year 2019, it is actually very good because Bitcoin is able to reach upwards very high. But we also see that Altcoins are not experiencing very significant changes, as does Bitcoin.

We should always be ready with a bad incident for Bitcoin. But this year I am sure if Bitcoin will not suffer a sharp decline. By the end of this year and the year 2020, I think the crypto will increase again.

if bitcoin drops by 5k, domination falls with it, and altcoins like Trx Btt Btzc, I will shoot hard
Shitcoins will die as expected, and if bitcoin goes deeper only good altcoins can survive and can stay with the level of bitcoin. If there’s an opportunity to buy $5k again with bitcoin, i’m telling you to grab that opportunity and buy more because after that we will start the pump again and that can be an easy profit to hodlers.

If the price returns to $5000, it will be the worst time to come to this market and certainly thousands of other altcoins will be greatly affected in this market. I hope that will not happen because I am investing in a lot of big coins in the long term and have been making good profits over the past time. I personally cannot predict the future of this market but I believe Bitcoin is still the most profitable investment.

You can't really predict this. They will either stay the same (their ratio prices), go higher or go lower.

If BTC goes to $5000, then many might flock to alts to hedge against bitcoin going down. Basically what happened in January 2018.

Alts can also go down if too many people start to panic and leave crypto together. Basically BTC is much stronger than most alts so if BTC crashes then alts can crash a little more due to their smaller liquidity and the ratios can be even lower than today, its possible.

Or the ratios can stay the same with respect to bitcoin. Basically it could start a very slow bear market and the ratios will stay constant while the spot prices of alts against fiat will slowly head downwards.

No, the cycle will continue and I think most alts will continue to recover when the season comes. because the value of many alts has dropped because many investors want to focus on buying and selling bitcoin at this time.
But when bitcoin is stable and no longer showing signs of growth, potential alts will begin to be acquired by investors, who will sell bitcoins to buy more alts. I believe that will happen soon in 2020.

Such a panicked market and a lot of people are panicking selling because the price of bitcoin goes down, that can actually make the price of altcoin go down but when things stabilize again, the price of altcoin will definitely be better. It is understandable that the dominance of bitcoin puts too much pressure on altcoins, altcoins cannot breathe or raise prices with this weight but when the weight drops, bitcoin is no longer a pump to suck altcoin's capital, altcoins will have a chance to rise sharply again, many situations in the past have followed this trend.

As we have experienced in the year 2018, that at that time the Bitcoin price dropped by almost 50%. And what happens all the Altcoin price also decreases sharply. If this is the case now, I think the overall price drop of the Altcoin will occur.

Altcoins this year may be different because it is difficult to predict. When the Bitcoin price is pumping high, it does not impact on Altcoin.

When such conditions now, I do not want if Bitcoin returns 5,000%. Because I think that Altcoin still holds very high potential.

Your presumption about many altcoins not recovering is correct and  Peter Brandt also confirms it but altcoin having good liquidity won't be the reason for any altcoin to escape been vaporized in the market cause utilize, concept, outstanding features, and working product play a huge role in making altcoin thrive.

I think the price of bitcoin will be much higher over time, crashes back prices will return above $ 5000.we see that in reality bitcoin again there are positive moves just a few altcoins that fall, opportunities like this can be your opportunity to invest in taking profits in the future
An altcoin that falls in price could be an opportunity for investors to invest and make a huge profit but investors must not ignore the consequences cause altcoin market are highly manipulated and before investing into an altcoin that currently falls in price ones must invest in a coin that will surely thrive in the future.

But the problem is it seems, bitcoin is difficult to increase more than $10k, and it needs more time to rise. We don't know when, but it will increase at the right time. But we should thank you to bitcoin because this year, bitcoin price can grow at a higher rate although we need to be patient and wait for more. The altcoin will still up and down and will always follow bitcoin, but I am afraid the altcoin will get another downtime in a short time if bitcoin cannot increase.

If bitcoin went that low again it will be a terrible blow against alts, not only most alts lost value against bitcoin during the current growth which made the bitcoin dominance to grow as well, if the price went down most investors will simply move their money to stable coins or to fiat, which means that new icos and ieos will have lots of troubles to find the necessary money to become viable projects, but even established alts will find themselves in trouble as investors simply give up on them and accept their losses and sell their assets in order to protect whatever remains of their seed capital.

Jump on too high is not good for the total crypto environment. If Bitcoin hit 50K USD, altcoin should manage a balance but if BTC takes 80% dominance with 50K USD value, then most of the altcoins would die badly and they can't recover it well. Altcoins like top 50 can recover or stay good, otherwise, it would be a very tough situation!

maybe there will be no more place for altcoin. only altcoin that has a large marketcap will survive. and maybe this will have an impact on the overall crypto trade. no one will buy again if bitcoin falls below $5k again.
If we could see how altcoins are crying when Bitcoin price at $3k early this year? This will be the same and they still are crying.
Of course, high volume and liquidity coins will survive but those coins that are sleeping already will be totally dead sooner. This is what the market moves right now and I should have to put money to a thing could we could rely on the next ten 10 years or more.

But hopefully Bitcoin still continues to grow and the Altcoin season hopefully can happen like 2017.

For long term investing, choosing the high-rank altcoins will be more profitable but the limitations are not trader-friendly. The surviving coins will not see the dip points but the small market cap altcoins can go lower than the all-time low prices. Bitcoin price will not go to the $5000 unless the market demand changes with bad news. The altcoins will follow the any trend with the BTC chart, we need to find the gold average between the price of the Bitcoin and altcoins.

There will be a remaining place for altcoins but it won't be wide as before, where most of the altcoins that just came in also become popular and has a decent market cap because people believe in each project to be good. Well this is before.

Now, it has changed. Many don't want to take the risk anymore with such projects and altcoins. And while others are learning, there's still plenty of people that don't learn from that experience.

no one will buy again if bitcoin falls below $5k again.
Buy alts or bitcoin? it's a small amount and for sure there will be traders and investors rushing to buy at that bottom.

It didn't cross my mind that the price of bitcoin would drop back to $5,000. Because until now bitcoin price movements have begun to stabilize.
And if that really happens, then I can't imagine what will happen to altcoin, because altcoin price movements always follow the flow of bitcoin price movements.
It maybe not this year as we are more than a half far from $5k and also we pretend to see bull run again. But how about next year? No assurance that Bitcoin will remain what it has today or it maybe it drops down below $5k just like it happens early this year. I know are not be hoping like that but the possibility will be there and we already experience it some times.

It didn’t cross your mind because you don’t see the possibility of that which I don’t see the possibility of bitcoin dropping low to that again because right now, all that is coming into the market is more money and I don’t see reason why bitcoin should be stagnant at this moment and them make a reversal for that $5000.

I am not doubting that we will see this rice gain once more in future, but that would be after the new all-time high, because once the ATH is set, people will surely start selling their coins for the profit and this must surely crash the value back to something that low, except maybe the next bull run will get us to $100,000, that time, there is no amount of dumping that will ever make us see that $5k value again, maybe the last we will be talking about then is $20k.

It is unlikely that BTC will crash back to $5000, at least in the near future, but if this happened it will affect the prices of altcoins, or most of them, badly. We noticed many times that altcoins markets are still depending on the BTC market and price, so if BTC price decrease the prices of the altcoins will go down too.

That will be the most common scenario that will likely to happen if bitcoin crashes. Anyway, not even in 5k level, even at price levels where bitcoin slowly decrease its price, the price of alts also decrease. So we can see this trend even not in 5k price level. I won't be surprised when that price movement happens.
I have seen many cases which price of the altcoins increase while Bitcoin price decreases and you can check the historical charts for confirmation. The consolidation between price of the BTC and altcoin is not fully known to the crypto community yet and these correlations are the example of how people treat the altcoins as anticipate to the BTC price. The response of the altcoins is always laggy to the price movement of the Bitcoin, $5000 price will be a shock hummer for most of the altcoins. In global markets, each financial asset has anyhow correlation between the bigger ones, it is also the same correlation between the Bitcoin and the altcoins.

If that so, some altcoins may have zero market value and really dying but only those useless coins only.
We still have potential altcoins left in the market and for their long market existence, I have no doubts that they will survive for a possible bear season to come. Not to think that it will happen this year but it is much possible to happen again in the coming days.

It's obvious that Bitcoin is back at $5,000, all the coins will experience a sharp decline and include Litecoin. But of course, everyone doesn't expect it to happen. Although the current conditions are difficult to predict, I am better to focus my trades and bounty hunters.

I only argue that maybe the value of Bitcoin is now no longer going down sharply. Because the Altcoin season has not come. I hope that by the end of the year 2019, can give a big surprise.

In global markets, each financial asset has anyhow correlation between the bigger ones, it is also the same correlation between the Bitcoin and the altcoins.
Not all the times because price can either be correlated anytime or not between alts and BTC itself. We do able to see for how many times that if BTC drops alts drop too but there were instances where if btc drops then alts uprise. It depends on how the community decide to switch up either they do pour funds to alts or would simply keep their investment safe with stable coins or with fiat and that's why we cant really presume anytime that those correlations will happen depending on what we are seeing. It can crash but we wouldn't know on what would be the next move. For now we cant really say that btc cant crash wayback too $5000 but there would always be a possibility since its only -50-60% at the current price at the moment.

They will follow the same fate of bitcoin. That is, they will also start dropping very badly. If the price of bitcoin starts to drop due to negative rumors, the price of alt coin will also start to drop since people will start to cash out everything to avoid any further loss. This dump will cause further dumping as people will start to panic as they watch the price fall. This doesn't end here. Now since the price of bitcoin is at the bottom, people will now invest on bitcoin, thus they start to sell their altcoin and invest everything on btc thus causing the price of altcoin to further dive down.

I didn't expect that it would happen. In 2018 Bitcoin can reach $5,000 and you should know that the impact on the altcoins is very negative. All the altcoins have declined and many investors are out of the market.
Such conditions do not want to happen again this year and further. We are now more focused with trading, investing and Bounty campaigns. Many people who predict the Altcoin season, maybe happening by the end of this year and the year 2020.

I don't think many alts would recover against Bitcoin if this happens and so they will crash even more. Some solid alts with good liquidity like Litecoin may recover but most won't recover in my opinion. Thoughts? :-\
I think $5000 for Bitcoin isn't called a crash but a small correction only. What defines a crash for Bitcoin is that if it goes back to its previous lows of $3000 and a possibility that it can go lower up to $1-1.5K.

For me, if Bitcoin crashes just don't visit the sites where you see the prices of coins anymore because you will feel....... you know it.

Altcoins situation are not different from the way they were when bitcoin was still around $5000, and when it drops now back to that level, I still would not see the possibility of it having effect on altcoins except the top altcoins.

most of the altcoins that we have are almost going to zero, and imagine bitcoin is cut by half, what would they decline to again than for them to disappear from the market, but I don’t think they still have the strength to decline, and when bitcoin drops to $5000, I only see it causing a very big pump because that would be a very cheap price for people and whales to comes in as  far as the dumping was not as a result of people’s negative reaction to let's say a government's policy or news from them.

although the possibility is small but if bitcoin falls to $5k. it has been confirmed that many altcoins have died. maybe almost 45% of altcoins that are now on the market will fall to 0. it will probably be the apocalypse for altcoin. Large altcoins such as ETH, LTC, BNB, XRP and EOS will also be heavily affected. maybe they will fall half the price.

If bitcoin crashes up to 5000 $ it's a disaster for altcoin. Altcoin has not had time to go up but has been squashed again with bitcoin.
Even good Altcoin won't survive and will come down dramatically too. And other altcoins will die. And this will make many investors lose money and do not rule out the possibility of altcoin investors will switch to bitcoin.

yes you're right, but still the price of $5k bitcoin is also a problem. this can make altcoin fall very deep. we can see yesterday when bitcoin fell from $10K to $8K. all red altcoin and the average has decreased between 15-25%. so if bitcoin goes back to $5k, there are lots of altcoins that are destroyed.

Alts were better when BTC around 3.2 K – 4K. While BTC running to the 12K and hit 14K, all alt coins are crushed. Traders waited recovery at alt coins but BTC never gave permission to alt coins.
Alt coins finding new all time laws every week. If BTC will drop to 5K, we will see completely red and bloody market. We will new all time lows and it will bot be easy to recover.
If BTC can find strong resistance and support at 5K – 5.5K and become stable for a couple of weeks, than we can see green market and recovery of alt coins.

Of course Altcoin will also be destroyed in price, because the dominance of Bitcoin over Altcoin prices is very strong so it is very influential on price movements. We can see like now on various exchanges when the price of Bitcoin dropped, then Altcoin also very dropped.

Most of those shit coin grown before . when price pupmed hard from 400 usd to up 10000 usd  end or mid year 2017 due to th pump
I said before that there is no benefit  except top 10 or top 20 only like ethereum litecoin

indeed when a decline in the price of bitcoin occurs the exchange rate of altcoin will also decrease. there is even a possibility that it will be very bad. but when the decline occurs we will see a large adoption will occur again when prices have begun to stabilize. we see several times the market trends like this.
even if that condition happened, I'm sure only good altcoins will survive with their trade in the market.

it all comes back to March of 2019, which is the period when bitcoin was only $ 3k3. I believe that this market full of crimes will still live and live strong.
When the market is in a deep recession, there are sure to be black funds launched to pump out the prices of top coins and from there the market will grow again. This is the usual cycle of the crypto market.

the atmosphere will not be much different from last December 2018 (when Bitcoin was priced at $ 3,500), many Altcoins will crash.. the cut loss action will occur because investors are afraid of the certainty of their investments in Altcoin.

We have seen that the price dropped from 20k to 3k$ and after that, we had a nice period of alt season. This shows that there is no need for a panic. We just need to pass the halving and strong altcoins will be shown to us. Lets have more patience and do our own researches for the strong altcoins and get them while they are cheap.
I think there is no panic, but what is happening on the cryptocurrency market is very difficult to explain.  We always believed that the entire cryptocurrency market depends on the price of Bitcoin, but as you said, the price of Bitcoin from $ 20,000 dropped to $ 3,000, and then, at the beginning of 2019, it went up again and reached $ 10,000, but altcoins continued to show bad results until  so far .

I do not see how this is difficult to explain, years ago there was confidence that many of the new projects coming to the market could change not only this market but the way many industries worked, after the crash happened and some years passed people have realized that nothing changed and the only coin that is making progress is bitcoin, so when the market began to recover at the beginning of this year bitcoin gained in dominance against the rest of the coins.

You need to have your own way of taking your opportunities in order to know what to decide while experiencing down market.

Bitcoin falling low to $5000 is possible, but it is truly hard to predict the moves that will happen with altcoins on account of the same. For users who believe in the growth will go for bitcoin, considering it the buying opportunity. In these days if there is such a price crash surely it'll not continue for a longer time period.

Over the altcoins surely there will be big impact. This will lower the market for altcoins, very few exceptions will continue to grow. Particularly those were the exchange backed altcoins as well the other having realtime usage. By then investing on altcoins too is a good choice if the plan is for long term profiting.

You are right. If another bear market comes and Bitcoin crash down to 5K USD, Many altcoins will be dead this time. Bitcoin is dominating the crypto market by over 68 %, altcoins are suffering a lot, and at the same time if the crypto market crash, lots of potential coins won't recover again ever! I hope Bitcoin will hold the price up this time, no one wants to see another bull run!
$5,000 is a bit higher in my opinion than the bottom price this year which is $3,500. But I don't see any possible reason for another crash to happen yet, unless if there is something that would trigger the bear that would create a lot of FUD/FOMO. As of now the price is quite stable at $8,000 and no one actually knows what would be the movement of the market.

Just get ready yourself for the possibility of either bull run or bearish.

BTC was @ 3.3k in February of this year and ETH / LTC did just fine.

Anyone who thinks BTC drop below 5k is impossible is naive, everything is possible when big boys play with you. Crypto market the way it is today is one big casino, another serious dump (and following pump) is not simply possible, it is very probable.

But just as casinos go: No one wants them to collapse entirely, where else would fool and his money be parted? This will continue as long as there are people who are so blinded that they are selling their cars and houses to gamble with crypto. Of course I am also one of those small fools as well, but at least I learned my (painful) lessons on stock / forex market long time ago and never gamble with my already existing savings or assets, only with small part of my actual income. I can hold it forever and if it goes down the drain, well, bad luck.

not all altcoin buddy, but indeed most of the effects of the price of bitcoin affect the price of altcoin. if what happens is a decrease in bitcoin which is very far below, then there may be very many people who leave this market. either save their capital or withdraw their capital. because when the investment market goes down and demand decreases in investors' eyes it will be very bad for investment.

Coins or mainly tokens die when they have no use case. When Bitcoin price decrease, then coins prices decrease in same ratio. That is all. None of them die because of Bitcoin losing value.   There is plenty bitcoin clones that were made for fun and also died fast because had no use case. There are plenty tokens that were actually a security and were used for crowdfunding a project that or did not delivered or their delivery was poor and so those tokens are worth nothing today.

The reason most coins will be dead will not necessarily be because of a bear market it will be because most coins do not have reason to exist at all, many coins are scams or at best projects with no leadership that have no way to make true their promises to their investors, after years of this happening in the market traders are realizing this is never going to stop and instead of being supportive of new projects as they were in the past they will only support bitcoin from now on.

Lol, I think it will get to a point where altcoins will drop to and will never go lower than that again, just like we have some altcoins presently, even when bitcoin is down, they are at the deepest bottomed, so till altcoin bull run starts before they can start picking again.

If bitcoin drops so low to that $5000, it may affect some altcoins, but it will be temporary because the value will cause fomo as many people who had been looking for opportunity to buy cheaper will start rushing it at that price, which will definitely make the market to spike beyond the previous price, and that will still have positive effect on altcoins too because as bitcoin increases, altcoins will also increase along with bitcoin too, so the crash may still be of favor to so many altcoins.

More and more altcoin will experience a substantial price decline if indeed the price will decline to reach that point. people should be able to keep the price of bitcoin back up for the growth of altcoin that many people really want. my belief that later prices will rise is still quite large, but if the price of bitcoin drops to that point, I'm sure altcoin, which in terms of their fundamentals are not so strong, will drop dramatically in price

Who knows? But if it does happens, there will always be the probability that people may start to turn their interests on Altcoins with unique features and more use cases and start increasing on their holdings - giving a much needed push to its value in the end.
Or it can also be with Bitcoin crashing down, most Altcoins may follow suit and fall straight down the bin.
Either way, anything is possible. We just can never tell.

firstly it is difficult for bitcoin to return to $ 5000, because as far as I can see at this point the support point for bitcoin is at the level of $ 7000. so if bitcoin falls to $ 5,000 again, there will be a big fall for altcoin. maybe all altcoin will be affected by the decline in bitcoin this time. and the most severe impact is that many altcoins will lose trading volume and will be very difficult to return.

Well if Bitcoin crash to $5000, then the value of altcoin in Bitcoin will increase considering that the value of altcoin in USD does not change but it is impossible for altcoin not to crash if Bitcoin price crashed.  See what happen in the year 2018 when Bitcoin price plummet, the price of altcoin suffers too and worst it had not recover until today.

I think if it only goes back to $5,000 then more than likely the only thing that will happen is money will come out of the alt coin market cap as well and the price would lower on all of them at the same time. However, if it crashed to below $1,000 again, I think we would probably have a problem. It would be a good opportunity for another coin to come and claim the top spot. More than likely Ethereum would take over as king.

Well, because of the panic, I think the price of altcoin will also go down as bitcoin prices go down. I think that altcoin dependence on bitcoin is really quite large at the moment. in fact, the effect of bitcoin when the price drops $ 500 to $ 1000, it makes the altcoin price quite badly dump. However, in this case, there may be some people who use it to get a much cheaper price.

The bulls never announce when they will enter the market, let the bears keep having fun, it is their time now, and with this fun they are having, they are only giving us the chance to keep accumulating more coin's of those projects that are recognized as tops in the market, when the bull is ready to enter the market, it would come without announcing.

We can see sample of such case in April this year when the price of bitcoin suddenly started rising unexpectedly and nobody really knows exactly where it came from or how it happened, but the bull eventually succeeded in pushing the price up from where it was during that time till what it is now and I think at this level of bitcoin, the price is still fair. Barriers will definitely be broken In near future which I believe maybe very soon.

I don't think many alts would recover against Bitcoin if this happens and so they will crash even more. Some solid alts with good liquidity like Litecoin may recover but most won't recover in my opinion. Thoughts? :-\
The value will be low of altcoins if bitcoin down to $5k price. But I think bitcoin will be moving in coming days and we know that every coin price is depending to what on demand in the market. So lets keep observing and grab the opportunity of bear market as you can the market is volatile who knows if one day all will be on higher price like before.

i dont really sure LTC solid like u think, when btc going down, then LTC too.
and LTC recovery after btc recovery first, its same like mostly altcoins.
the only not affected by crashes of btc is LEO.
just check CMC for make u sure.

It is very hard that Bitcoin crashes back to 5000$, but assuming that this could happen someday, it will affect hardly the whole crypto market for sure. We knew, depending on our experience in trading BTC and altcoins, that BTC price and chart are affecting most altcoins markets in the previous years. So I guess most altcoins prices will decrease even more if BTC price dropped down to $5k.

There is many possibility, first altcoin will drop more dip if Bitcoin crashes to $5k. That is because Bitcoin is main currency for us to trade. But maybe there is some altcoin will going to get really high bullish. Because some altcoin is depend the how many solid investor in the back. Some people will think Bitcoin is near dead, so we must find another coin and change Bitcoin domination with best fundamental and real project for transaction.

I believe it is fairly possible. Considering how it dropped from $20k to $13k in a matter of 5 days in 2017, it happened. It may happen again, it may not. However, you're on point about how Bitcoin affects the altcoin market, as a person who had various altcoins a few years back when it (Bitcoin) crashed down hard to about 10k I ended up losing a fair amount of my bank. Now, the only thing I trust in is Ethereum and thats about it.

This is just your own prediction and everyone has different thoughts when talking about this issue. I personally believe that Bitcoin will continue to remain stable over the next few months and will tend to increase more so put your faith in this market because if there is great faith, you can succeed in trading . Bitcoin is a very risky investment and altcoins are heavily dependent on this coin but I'm sure both of them will raise their prices someday.

Most of the time traders who followed solid projects will anticipate the big downfall to their supported project when bitcoin suffer with big loses, with that, instead of worrying they will take the opportunities to buy more and hold. Those investors who are optimistic will keep finding ways not to fall into panic but will engage to long term process aiming to make better outcome when bitcoin and the market start to bounce back.

Everything will recover because we are fighting with the sharks. they constantly feed us with food and then kill us by dumping the market.
When they dump to a certain point, they will have a plan to pump the market back that no one expected. just like when bitcoin dropped to $ 3k3, everyone thought it would die and many people left the market. but they did not know that all a game of small fish and sharks. so we should be alert and have the patience needed to make more money.

BTC dumped to $3300 and yet the alts have recovered well so far. No matter how low bitcoin will plunge there's still a window for these alts to recover but it won't be quick. This will happen gradually.
As we can see, many alts have added and increased a bit with their prices but don't look upon the past prices of it during the ath's.

but atleast our chance to buy again is indeed.

I think if Bitcoin dropped to rate of $5,000 then the price of Altcoin would not be too affected due to the fall in the price of Bitcoin. Lately we can see the Altcoin market has started to grow by a few percent when the price of Bitcoin goes down, but will the price of Bitcoin drop to $5,000? I think that's difficult to happen at this time.
Yeah, somewhat the price of the altcoins depends on the BTC but I don't think they would hardly be affected if the price of BTC drops to 5k$. The altcoins have started to grow separately and this we had already experienced this year only, when the whole market was down, BNB hyped rapidly irrespective of the price of BTC. So, I don't think that BTC would be regulating the alt-market in the future...

Ha ha! Where do you see that happening again, if bitcoin drops to $5000, it means people are dumping and if they can dump bitcoin, what would make them invest in altcoin that they no longer find funny again. You already observe how bitcoin decline affects some altcoins, and how its increases also affect some altcoins too.

It means that the more bitcoin declines, the more it is possible for some coin to even go as low as zero when bitcoin turns to that $5000. The good news is that, I really don’t see anything that will turn bitcoin to $5000 again, bitcoin has already grown past that stage and I think that the next value of bitcoin will be growing towards achieving the year's all time high of $13 to $15k on or before the year ending, I think $5000 is totally not feasible anymore.

if btc goes back to 5000 $ it's simple then alt will follow it or maybe worse, we all know that only the top few alts will survive while shitcoin will disappear.
and usually for alt which drops above 90% will be difficult to return.
And also a chance to buy bitcoin and altcoin again.thats the advantage of the price of bitcoin crashes to $5k or below

Everyone that does not bought in early part of 2019 when the prices are very cheap now their frustration will end up and take the opportunity to buy again

we can get the opportunity when we do not lose the moment to sell the assets we have before going down or at the best price. the decline in bitcoin will have a devastating effect on all assets and the crypto market. if we lose the moment or be late, we may be frustrated and panicked because a lot of our money is reduced.

It is indeed because once btc price declined somehow altcoins followed. People focus on accumulating some btc at that stage they could have the chance to buy so when it recovers they can have a profit. Hard to predict what will happen moving forward let’s hope for the best in altcoin market that it can recover soon.

My opinion is that if Bitcoin falls to the level of $5000, then all highly capitalized altcoins will also follow it. They tend to always go for Bitcoin. Only in rare exceptions, on the eve of any important update of the project, the coin can grow in price in spite of Bitcoin.

There's no more hope with those ERC20 tokens. Some are still alive and kicking but many of them have been eliminated to the market. They have still some market cap but their total volume is completely out of this world and what I mean with that is a dead volume.
ETH is down but I still see it as a remaining coin that can survive from this assumed another bear market that we have right now.

Agree with your opinion, let alone until it drops to that price. when bitcoin falls below just $ 10K, it has a lot of influence on other altcoins. It is undeniable that altcoin is still affected by the movement of bitcoin, only a few altcoins and relatively small that is not affected by bitcoin.

All the ICO market crashed and all the people behind those projects made a ton of money and left the scene, these were basically scams in broad light and there is no one to question any of these actions and hence the governments around the world is trying hard to control the market.

@OP if the bitcoin market crashes then all the entire altcoin market crashes alongside.

No, altcoins won't be able to recover independently of bitcoin if bitcoin were to crash to $5000 (or even lower).  They're all priced in bitcoin, so they're going to follow whatever it does.  I also have the feeling that if bitcoin crashes, altcoins will be hit even harder because people will start to lose confidence in them and will likely sell in a panic.  It's happened before and can happen again.

All of that aside, I don't think bitcoin is headed much lower, tho obviously I cannot say this with certainty.  It seems to be holding up pretty well right now and is just trading in a narrow range.  Eventually when it forms a trend I think it'll go higher rather than lower...but we'll see about that.  It could be months before that happens.

Bitcoin is the face of cryptocurrency. It is king and all altcoins without fiat pairings are paired to BTC. When BTC is bearish, it most likely means the entire Cryptocurrency market is bearish. Bitcoin has the best risk adjusted return and is the safe haven in the event of the crash - people are sure it will be a coin that will survive and so many convert their alts to minimize their risk exposure. Many traders may cash out to fiat too, causing them to panic sell alts to BTC and then cashing out, causing a bigger slump in altcoins/BTC prices.

On the other hand when BTC is very bullish, traders see no need to buy alts because by buying alts with BTC you are by default shorting BTC, greatly increasing your chance of loss. They see no need to risk altcoins just for slightly better returns.

Fortunately for us bitcoin will never go below 1000, those days are gone, but supposing it happened then I find unlikely that another coin will take over the market, after all most coins are using a similar technology than the one bitcoin is using, why bitcoin will go down that much and another coin that is similar will take control of the market, besides while ethereum is a good project it does not have a limit in the amount of coins and it cannot be a store of value like bitcoin.

Yes, we are facing this situation in the market whenever the price of Bitcoin is fluctuating, if Bitcoin reaches to the value of 5000$ then we might see the altcoin downturn compared to 2018. Since 2018 we are seeing a complete downtrend with the altcoin and the same thing will repeat.

If Bitcoin returns to the $5,000 price , this market will be in big trouble and thousands of other altcoins will be affected when this happens. We saw this in 2018 and during that time all investors were silent and didn't know what to do next. I hope bitcoin will not go down until the price of $ 5,000, this can really make altcoins more destroyed. But after I analyze it is unlikely
that bitcoin will drop to $ 5,000. Because the price of support is strong at $ 7,700, The biggest possibility will even rise this week will
penetrate the resistance price at $ 8600, if it breaks to the next resistant price at $ 9200.If it gets right down to $ 5000 the price of altcoins
will be destroyed, but for altcoins that are popular and have a lot of volume will be easy to recover. So in this bad market only investments
in BTC and altcoins are popular.

I think that if the Bitcoin price drops to $5,000, then alts are likely to start falling too, as people are unlikely to start selling Bitcoin and investing in alts

Bitcoin happen to be the crypto currency market mover and if you have that believe then one can say it is only on a  very few occasion that some altcoins will be moving in different direction as against bitcoin. Bitcoin market value decline do lead the decline in the market value of altcoins doesn't necessarily mean altcoins will not recover after the downward trend.

that's the best way to invest and even though prices fall deeper like now then at least when investing in the top 10 coins we don't need to panic because the potential of the top coins won't become shitcoin when it goes bearish, so investing in alts is not entirely wrong because it still there are alts that are able to recover and survive when the market is bearish. but as has been said alts will be very risky if the price of bitcoin will indeed touch the bottom again and at least we must be prepared to face a situation like this if indeed we have been holding alts for the long term

The current dominance of bitcoin has greatly influenced the development of altcoin, I think this is a logical problem. If it returns to $ 5k and the sideways are long enough, alt dominance will increase. It is true that many coins will not be strong, but not with coins that have sufficient daily volume in some large exchange markets, but conditions will return more differently if btc returns to $ 3k

You call it risk ;D I would be glad that investors remained true to their expectations.

This year, many altcoins have lost value vs bitcoins. Despite the temporary warming of the market in the spring. Now I expect BTC to fall to 6K or lower. And now this will kill many of our crypto assets, but there is hope that the market will become cleaner. At least for a while. At least something good :)

I think that will happen with the condition of altcoin prices will likely experience a price decline too, although only temporarily due to the influence of the panic trader who sells his assets at cheap prices, but I am sure the price of altcoin will definitely rise again.
the impact when bitcoin falls then the market will also experience a decline. but now traders are safer because there are stable assets that they can use to save their money which of course won't make traders too panicked. but for altcoin, it will have a big impact. like today there is a decline that makes all coins also red. for the time of decline, I think it depends on how the market responds if there is a big panic, of course, it will be bad for the market. but when investors and traders calm down the possibility of a market recovery can run fast.

It happened that before when bitcoin crashes down to $5000 way back 2018. As all altcoins were bleeding and others become undervalued coin turning into a shitcoin. So if you wanna have plan to invest in coin better to choose one of the top 10 in coin market list.
I think this will be quite different from 2018 ago. if the price of bitcoin drops to that level again, I think the price of altcoin will be lower. Well, I don't mean to scare, but in a situation like this the price of bitcoin drops to that level, it looks like it will have a very bad effect on altcoin.

although currently, the price of bitcoin is falling, I don't expect prices to fall more than the $ 7000 level.

We have to keep in mind the direct proportional relationship between alts and btc. It's impossible to say, alts with no product and future would go south in no time. So much talk on forums about altseason but it looks like it's not coming anytime soon. Any new alts/non-ico/ with working product on market?

Today, the price of Bitcoin is falling because it is losing its relevance.  Other cryptocurrencies are falling in price because the market has always reacted to falling Bitcoin prices.  But you also need to consider that negative news about cryptocurrency also has a bad effect on cryptocurrency users and the entire cryptocurrency market.  Nevertheless, I would like to mention that over the past period, the maximum trading volume of Bitcoin futures at 300 Bitcoin at Bakkt was again recorded.  This is almost 80 Bitcoin more than the previous maximum figure (220 BTC). Perhaps this indicator indicates that the cryptocurrency market is again being manipulated, which is why Bitcoin prices have dropped.

I don't think many alts would recover against Bitcoin if this happens and so they will crash even more. Some solid alts with good liquidity like Litecoin may recover but most won't recover in my opinion. Thoughts? :-\
Even bitcoin crash back to 5000$ some of the good altcoins will remain at its current price. Try to look at the coinmarketcap you can only see bitcoin experience dump price while the other cryptocurrencies experience rising prices. If bitcoin will totally crash back at the price of 5,000$ or below on that price maybe some altcoin will also suffer because some of them are paired with bitcoin. Lastly, if this thing totally happens it might have a hard time to recover and it still hard to predict if on the coming halving bitcoin will recover its price.

If bitcoin crashes to 5k$, we may have serious issues. The trend is important, we are having bear markets bull markets but we are mostly going up with bitcoin. If we drop to 5k, alts will suffer a lot. Bitcoin will suffer a lot. This will be a new era for bitcoin and altcoins. I hope we keep going up.
A crash to that level will be completely natural and while this will affect the market in general we have seen greater crashes in the past than that and still the market survived, I'm not really worried about the market what I'm worried about are the many investors that will be unable to withstand such a crash, it is likely the recovery we saw during this year will not be enough to offset the losses produced during 2017 meaning that most investors will find their capital reduced to zero.

I do think that it will depends on how bitcoin will gonna crash to 5k although its possible since we arein bearish again. If bitcoins will crash like crazy or just a slow movement after all.  Bitcoin slow movement will be a breath for some altcoins especially the solid coins or large marketcaps. unlike haveing big flash crash will result in a more bearish movement for the entire market considering its market dominance.

A flash crash will surely dragged everything down inside the crypto market knowing that majority of the pairs is consist of Bitcoin. The impact of quick crash will make everything to suffer alongside with each pairs who used this coin. Slow movements though will give free space for investors to think twice and carefully analyze what will be the next steps in order not to be stuck while bear season are dominating the whole market.

You have to remember that all prices of alts still depend on BTC especially thay we all know that it is the main crypto but there would be a chance in the future that pne or more alts will be so independent that they will create their own market if you know what I mean. It would be really perfect if btc will be stabilize and that would be a great room for growth for the other crypto.

After this week, I believe it is possible for BTC to achieve this mark. There are two options, the first is that altcoins will fall together will BTC and we will see the new all time lows for alts. But on the other hand, the dominance can fall with BTC which will leave space for altcoins to increase their prices.

Forget about altcoins when BTC is falling as all eyes are in BTC.

BTC reaching $5K is another struggle and honestly I don't want to witness that anymore, this market was suppose to end up strong by the end of the year as it has a very good start where btc stayed over $10,000 for awhile, but like the normal scenario, btc has dump again but like I said, hopefully this will stop from here and we will see some rally in the remaining months.

I believe this is a very strange question, because nothing will happen unusual if Bitcoin drops below $ 5,000.  It is likely that then the situation of 2018 will be repeated.  But nevertheless, I am inclined to believe that this will not happen, because already at the moment the market has recorded a fast growth rate in Bitcoin prices, and a daily rise of more than 10% on October 25 has already been recorded.

all possibilities can happen and there is nothing we can predict with certainty. One example is that in 2018 the crypto currency will decline rapidly and it will make many investors surprised by such conditions but slowly rise the development of the critical currency. even if there is a drastic increase and decrease it has become the nature and risk of investing in the crypto currency

alt will re-enter a new trading round after the possibility of minus around 20 - 80%, and after that return to see the position of trade domination that occurs in bitcoin. this situation is good for day traders because they don't really refer to long-term charts, but some popular altcoins won't go down too deep, because they take hedged positions in pairs with stable coins.

Although that price seems to be impossible for now, let's not take for granted all possible circumstances that might arise. We should be careful on the decisions that we had, and as btc character remains so unpredictable always consider fluctuations as a serious situation. You can see that on the price trend on your blockfolio, so you can see the actual buy and sell movement.

Bitcoin is still in a downtrend, so the price increase in the past few days is only temporary and there will soon be many new corrections in the next few months. In this market you should not rely on any predictions because all predictions are often inaccurate so it is best to do your own analysis because no one can do it for you. I think $5000 is possible because the market is almost manipulated so they can customize the price anytime if they want.

Bitcoin at $5000 is going to produce a purge, those altcoins that are just pump and dumps and altcoins that are duplicate of existing projects and altcoins that are not good in marketing their coin and updating their community will suffer if Bitcoin drops back to $5000.
The one thing that keeps these altcoins from being purge from the market, is because Bitcoin is still going up, the trust is still there and they partake of these trust from investors.

You are absolutely right here! Reputed altcoins will recover with the Bitcoin. In every Bitcoin pumps, all the altcoins with unique models and higher trading volume pumped too! Because without altcoins Bitcoin alone can't get mass adoption! So, if Bitcoin breaks 5000$, altcoins will go to down! But those altcoins with Classic, Gold, Diamond extension in their copied name will down to die!

Most of the altcoins follow bitcoin and if the price crash of btc to $5000 or even lower then we will see bloodbath in altcoin market as we have seen in past two years and most of the new altcoins will be wiped out from the market in such conditions. But be positive on such matters as the whole market will suffer huge losses and its hard to rise again.

when Bitcoin is rising, Altcoins will also get benefits but when Bitcoin fall, the entire market will surely fall, so it will be very awful to the market and altcoins if BTC crashed down to 5000$, the entire market will surely get serious dammage and i can sure that more people will quit on cryptos when it was getting too low, and the market will hardly recover from the crash, altcoins will soon be the first cryptos to die, but top cryptos like BTC or ETH will survive longer, at least until the market rise back.

in my opinion if Bitcoin goes to 5000 again its a good thing
it gives potentially a lot of space to grow! for example now BTC is 9k, you can make 5x only if it goes to 45k
and if BTC falls to 5k - you only need it to go to 25k to make x5
also it gives an opportunity to cash in some Fiat and buy cheap alts
cheap alt = easier to pump

conclusion: if BTC falls to 5000 again and drags altcoins with it - we may see another x100 of alts next bull run

If bitcoin crashes back to $5k, I hope it won't happen in the near future, fingers crossed.
But, if it does, I'm afraid altcoins will have to suffer even more. Even with bitcoin price pumped for the last few days, it doesn't have a really great impact on altcoins.

Sure almost every alts were on green, but the price ain't that high. That's why short term trading is the best for me at the moment.
And with not only 1 or 2 altcoins, but more. Especially altcoins that has taken a great impact from China's new law.

I'm not sure the price of Bitcoin can return to $ 5,000 because the dominance of Bitcoin is still above 60% in the market. But if that happens then the price of Altcoin will go down too. I see that at the moment Crypto price movements are showing signs of a Bullish market, so it is likely that Crypto prices will rise again.

Not really, during the beginning of this year we saw bitcoin lower than that value and yet there were still a record level of altcoins and I do not really see how this is going to change, as long as there are investors out there that believe it is going to be easy to make profits in this market then they will continue to invest in altcoins, and each new year cryptocurrencies are getting more popular so it is not like at some moment the money will run out either.

It seems like this has already happened at the end of 2018 where the decline of bitcoin makes the whole altcoin experience a huge decline. some this year have been able to rise again but also most have died due to no trade or buy orders. BTCitcoin decline indeed greatly affects the overall market ecosystem to get that effect so when it comes down again it can be ascertained the same. everyone's hopes of course this year bitcoin did not experience such a large decline and instead increased

I think $5k would be okay, although a descent that far would start to be a bit of a cause for concern. We have to remember just how much the price can move in a historical context. $20k back down to below $4 in little more than a year. We have had similar movements before, but they are obscured on the normal linear-scale price charts because they happened at a much lower price point - but change the charts to log scale, and the cyclic nature of the price movement becomes more apparent.

$5k wouldn't be a disaster, but I think we need to stay above the bear lows of about a year ago.

That is because almost everyone is thinking that bitcoin will continue in the bullish trend and that they forgot that the price can go down to $5000 or even lower. I guess this is just a reminder to investors that bitcoin can go up as high as it can be but after that high price it may go down almost rock bottom so we should be smart enough in managing our coins before regretting anything.

Yeah, same thoughts here. I mean so what if Bitcoin "Crashes" back to $5000? So what? Even a crash back to $3000 isn't a disaster. Bad as it might seem because we were just recently above 10k, it's still only as bad as 2019's lowest point.

Like you said, everything is obscured in the normal linear scale once we look at the big picture. Of course, nothing's a guarantee but funny to see the LOLers all come out every now and then for their victory dance!

Market charts will not be able to make the price of bitcoin in the position of $ 5000 for this year, I think maybe that analysis is suitable for use at the beginning of this year. we can be sure and see if the potential in this year to 2020 the price of bitcoin and altcoin will be in a high position. so maybe even just a few percent decline from the current price of bitcoin, it will not decrease dramatically.

During some time I believe that it was possible for bitcoin to crash so hard that it could reach 5000 once again, but I did not thought that to be likely but even if at the moment the price of bitcoin is above 7000 there was a point in which it reached 6500 and if people keep selling their coins at this rate I'm completely sure that we will see those prices again, what will happen to altcoins? Most of them are going to crash even faster than bitcoin and many of the new altcoins are probably going to disappear since they are going to be unable to cope with this

There is rule of thumb in crypto market that altcoins have direct relation with BTC price. If BTC go up, alt coins will also go up and vice versa.
It's very likely that BTC may go behind 5k and if does happen, I m sure alt coins wont sustain there prices and will go down.

Hard to tell so. The market value of alts might suffer the same thing or the other way around. We have seen parallelism way back 2017 on their market value specifically when the market price of Bitcoin went skyrocket in which we did observe how high the market price of alts became. But the case at this moment is different since the market is still struggling to make a comeback for a year already. So maybe the thing we should focus more on, is being patient than to create assumptions that would temp us or frustrate us.

I think not only altcoins have a direct relation in crypto market, because Investors is the main reason for crypto market so once Bitcoin will down automatically investors are fear the altcoins and directly move to stable coins so peoples are clear to survive on anytime. I hope market will never reach 5k USD and it will going to moon again.

If you are trying to trade the markets then you have no other choice but to make assumptions about what the market will do in particular circumstances, if bitcoin keeps going down and it becomes a sustained trend you can be sure that the price of altcoins is going to suffer a lot more than the price of bitcoin, in the past when the price of bitcoin began to go down some people decided to invest in altcoins and this made the price of altcoins obviously to go up but now people are choosing to get stable coins or fiat making the price to go down of both bitcoin and altcoins.

I think the market will face a lot of difficulties if Bitcoin returns to the $ 5000 price level, which is a very low price for Bitcoin. The market will be very bad, all altcoins will be affected when Bitcoin returns $ 5000, the price of altcoin will be very low, some shitcoin will die.

If bitcoin goes down to such a low in $5000s, it is likely to mark another major bottom and bounce back fast from there. Most top coins will likely move down with bitcoin and bounce back with it.

maybe some new Altcoin could go bankrupt, we see a lot now a few exchanges are closed because of bankruptcy, what about the existence of a new Altcoin that does not have a strong community and investors, I think they will go bankrupt if bitcoin returns below $ 5,000, it hurts everyone , so it's only a suggestion to switch sides on the old Altcoin that is part of the top 10 or 100 coinmarketcaps including Litecoin

We could really do with some positive price movement about now. We keep dropping, and then each mini-recovery is only partial, so we are at a lower level than before. I still don't think that $5k for BTC would be a disaster, but a change in the general direction of travel would be welcome about now.

Shitcoins should die,,, alt devs and scam projects deserve to die. We should let them all be killed off.

That's right, there's no need to worry about bitcoin if it drops at 5k. precisely if it happens, we can see how much altcoin and erc20 can survive in such critical conditions, the positive side is to clean up shitcoin and scam projects.

Nothing may happen to altcoin or worse except it goes beyond $1000, I dont its impossible to get below $1000 but I think its not in their plan the sentiment around it is also considered. It does not take time to pump this coin from any price now, it can be in 3 week if the whales want it, the last pump was less than 2 months to the ATH. I just think if any coin has enough money to push its coin up if bitcoin continues to dump in longer run may affect the sentiment around it for a while.

It's impossible to answer this question, we can guess and give some arguments for some possible outcomes. Personally I doubt we will see bitcoin so low ever again, but even if its happen for sure that market crash will pull down many other alts. But, there is always some but, crypto market have some strong coins right now, and maybe some of them can take that free space in case of bitcoin crash and advance.
Future is in crypto is tricky to predict, we are trying, we have some wild guesses, but actually nobody knows what future holds for all of us in crypto.

This market is full of surprises just when you think that something is impossible and that there is no way that something could happen the market of cryptocurrencies finds a way to prove you wrong, so we cannot discard that bitcoin could reach such low price and then the question becomes what are you going to do about it in the case this happens? And in that case I will buy all the bitcoin that I can while ignoring altcoins because I know that if bitcoin is crashing then altcoins are crashing even harder.

Unfortunately you are right. The entire cryptocurrency market is stick to Bitcoin price. However, I think that some altcoins are no longer in danger because they are already at the very bottom.
I am hoping for an exception - If the Bitcoin price actually continues to fall, I hope that Ethereum fork will succeed and this will cause the ETH price to break away from the BTC price and start to rise.

The fact is that altcoin such as Ripple, have already found their niche in the financial world and will be used in one way or another, no matter how the fate of Bitcoin develops in the cryptocurrency market.  But if you take the ethereum as an example, then I hope that this coin should no longer be associated with bitcoin, because it can only be called on certain movements in the cryptocurrency market, and not respond to a drop or increase in Bitcoin prices.

I think there are still many altcoins that appear on the market and there are still some altcoins that have good potential, out of the many altcoins we don't know which ones will be recovered later, what is clear is that if bitcoin prices rise then there is an opportunity for altcoin to recover, now bitcoin is again trying to recover prices to reach the highest level, Hopefully the process will happen quickly in the near future
Everyone wants Bitcoin to increase because this coin has a great influence in this market and Bitcoin will surely return to the price of $8000 by the end of this year. I always spend a lot of time analyzing this coin and finding the cheapest price for long-term investment so this is an opportunity not to be missed. Of course, you also need to know research because this market is often very volatile.

In addition, you can also choose some coins in the top 10 CMC because these are the coins that will be very promising if Bitcoin goes up in 2020.

Nothing at all. Maybe altos are completely dependent on bitcoin, but if bitcoins start to fall rapidly, then most likely altcoins will not keep pace with the fall, especially those coins that have actually established themselves as top.

Before the altcoin could crash when bitcoin crashes the altcoin market would have follow the bitcoin trend for weeks and you check the situation every coins in the market with the exclusion of some stablecoins, the altcoin market totally depended on bitcoin market decision which i believed it all because of the upcoming halving.
Therefore, if bitcoin crash back to $5000, the altcoin market will follow.

Don't get me wrong. I don't say every other crypto in the market won't live with bitcoin but there are always some occasions in the market which usually replicate itself i.e when halving is approaching, when it halving season and few months after bitcoin halving the whole crypto market momentum depend on bitcoin market trend.

I actually do not want if a disaster occurs on Bitcoin to touch the price of $ 5,000, because if this happens altcoin will crash more and possibly weaken the price. So I can't imagine the altcoin market will bleed, but if this happens I'm still sure bitcoin will rise again and altcoin will follow,  bitcoin only shows that it is very volatile.

No problem) Seele. I have more of them, but to be honest I'm too lazy to look for everything. This is the most indicative, as I think. It grows while Bitcoin fell when Bitcoin stands still. We also know about such a project as Minter, in it the main coin is Bip, and so there’s generally its own world, which does not depend on bitcoin in any way. To be honest, I agree with you that many are dependent on bitcoin. But not all) I didn’t want to say anything else)

Well our initial thinking was altcoins price will also crash if bitcoin's price will crash and yes it is true and we've already seen it, bitcoin's price goes up and then altcoins will follow and the same thing when bitcoin crashes but let us not generalize the altcoins, yes some will follow bitcoin's trend but a few will not. But let us hope bitcoin will not crash into $5000 because that'll be a hard situation.

I don't think so. So far, most of the altcoins beyond the top 200 coins have almost zero trading volume and liquidity. It only means one thing, most of the traders and holders have left, leaving their cheap bags to the strongest hands or rather foolish hands? Anyway, zero volume, most sellers already left, nothing to dump anymore.

We need to get rid of some outdated views, people think that if the market goes up then is good and if it  goes down then it is bad, you can make money as well when the market is going down, it is called shorting, and even if you do not want to short the markets a bearish market can be a great way to multiply the bitcoin that you are holding and then get even bigger profits the next time the market begins to skyrocket but in order to do this you need to become a trader and stop being an investor.

When that happens it is a great moment to buy whatever coin that you like but very few people have the courage to do it, when that happens they are afraid that the market is going to keep going down and they refuse to buy, in my opinion that is a big mistake if your main goal in the market is to make money, but who I am to tell people about what to do with their money, if they want to make mistakes and lose that is fine with me because that means that I will get more profits in the future.

alt movements won't be too far from closing monthly prices, at least not for the majority of coins. altcoin is not like bitcoin which can go down so deep, if btc coins react again to consolidate, altcoin will try to break up the previous support points. The price will indeed go down in accordance with the BTC pair, but the trader assets which are accumulated will increase again.

That's right, I'm afraid that when bitcoin falls, the latcoin will also go down badly, maybe it will be shitcoin of most altcoins, so this bitcoin needs to be retained at a more stable price but this continues to be played by the pope then there will be an impact for small holders of their assets will become even more worthless.
But I'm not sure about bitcoin going down to $ 5,000 now and going forward.

Of course, if the price of Bitcoin starts to fall by 10% or 20% every day, then the prices of altcoins will not even be able to fall so much. Altcoin prices were falling so much when the Bitcoin price was falling slowly. However, if it happens that the price of Bitcoin drops to $5k or lower, some altcoins will be so low that they will not rise from this level again. I am not talking now about top100 altcoins but from further positions.

Its like a flat sale on whole crypto market due to christmas, for long term investment its the ideal time to buy.
Some altcoins maybe still defend its price and got an increase in the bitcoin price but for some altcoins which are not having something useful just like the product and the future of them will be dead as soon as possible. if bitcoin falls and that will automatically affect the whole of altcoins except a solid altcoin that can stand without bitcoin
And that is the thing, many people concentrate on altcoins that do not really have any chance of surviving in the long term and that is without a doubt a mistake, if you want to obtain profits but you do not want to watch the market all day just in the case the coin that your holding begins to crash then you need to hold good altcoins, that way even if those coins begins to go down as bitcoin suffers a reduction in its price you will know that the price of those coins will eventually recover if the price of bitcoin goes up or if there is an altcoin season.
If bitcoin will fall below then most altcoin market are red because of fear where losing money happen, but it may recover soon as it happen most of the time, if you are in Altcoin then you must be have holding power in you so you can get profit in future !

Thanks

The chart of altcoin last day has already proven the true story when bitcoin gets dumped and whole of altcoins will follow it at the same time with horrible dump than bitcoin. It may recover when bitcoin will also recover from its dump caused by the bearish trend but when bitcoin does nothing and altcoin will never recover.

But the market proves that holding your altcoins is not a good idea, recently there was a decrease in the price of bitcoin and then a few days later bitcoin recovered all the value that it had lost at that time but even if altcoins recovered they did not recover fully, and we know this because the bitcoin dominance despite what happened went up, this is very clear evidence that holding altcoins for the long term will never be good for you as an investor.

If Bitcoin drops to $5,000, alts will be in a very big crisis, many coins will immediately fall in price by several tens of percents

Obviously altcoin will be very tortured if bitcoin really goes down that far because altcoin is now very slow to recover. Bitcoin has a big role to play in the current and future conditions of the altcoin market.

I think that with a significant drop in Bitcoin, the entire cryptocurrency market will fall even deeper, because many cryptocurrencies have not shown good performance since the time when Bitcoin fell in price at the end of 2018.  Over the past year, Bitcoin has even risen to $ 10,000 - $ 13,000, but many cryptocurrencies have remained in a bearish trend.  If today Bitcoin again falls to a possible $ 5,000 or lower, then for many companies this could be a disaster.

How sure are you though? Yeah, historically, we have alts that ride any wave that bitcoin makes, but they're not entirelt dependent on btc's movements. Some alts will eventually take advantage of  btc drop. And btc has gone lower than 5k before. Alts some alts did follow suit, but 2018 was worse for bitcoin than a lot of alts in the market. Bottomline is, it's not all the time that the altcoin market will move based on bitcoin as it will easily be readable.

Only bad coins will be in a big crisis caused by the holders will not feel better again to hold their altcoin and they will have an intention to dump their altcoin as fast as possible to get bitcoin. this is the possible scenario when bitcoin gets the next bearish trend or crash back to the 5k rate again.

not really, some alt rated above have proven it for example ETH, XLM, XRP, XVG you can see the price in 2015 they are almost worthless at all, and also alt which rose to the top 10 by using the name of one of the most popular exchanges, Binance coin with the price of ico 0.1 $ is now at 13 $ after 2 years so not all alt will be bad for the long term.

That's what I put in my mind too, as long as the developers are here to stay doing their job, a coin that has struggle now might recover in the future.
It's been the trend in the market, there is a bear market and there is a bullish market, legit project always survive so since we are in a bear market now, we have to wait until things changes to a better market which that time gives us an opportunity to sell again.

bitcoin plays an important role in the development of the price of altcoins, even altcoin is also considered good because of the support of bitcoin. so, when the price of bitcoin decreases, then 99% of the price of altcoin will decrease. this often happens, in fact, you only need to look at when the price of bitcoin goes down, so most of the altcoin prices also dump. when the price of bitcoin reaches $ 5,000, we can already guess what happened.

many small alts just won't survive such a difficult market situation, so they'll just start to disappear, many alts will be very much cheaper in prices.

I think your assumption is not entirely true, indeed when Bitcoin has increased Altcoin will decrease. but do you remember in early 2018 when BTC reached its highest price Altcoin also increased. such as ETH reaching 1300$, LTC reaching 380$, BCH reaching 4000$ and many others. so as I see in my technical analysis Altcoin is actually already in the Buy area. maybe at the moment there is still need more positive news to be able to push.

From september until december, it takes 3 months and we are not at the price of $7000+-
If price actually went below $6,400, it would be real bad because it could crash even lower than $5,000
Should hit as low as $3,300-$3,600 imo

Thus, Alts/btc would get dump even more than now
You can see that in the recent crypto price movement

Alts is looking real bad because people start realising that the valuation of btc is much more firm than alts

That’s not a very difficult question to answer rather it has been answered so many times on different forums. If bitcoin fall to 5000$, which  is very likely to happen. Altcoins will also fall back drastically. Altcoin gold like eth, xrp, ltc will be available at flat discount, if something like that happen.

I think some people are not really understanding my point I am not against people trading altcoins and earning money with them, what I am against is the idea that you should hold your altcoins for the long term, in my opinion you should always be ready to sell your altcoins in the case something is wrong with them and this is especially true for any altcoins outside the top 100, all of those coins that you mention are good coins but still I will never hold them because I only hold one coin and that is bitcoin.

What is clear altcoin will follow the fall also its value.  And for that it means we are still waiting for the resurrection of the king of Bitcoin so that altcoin is back up as well.

If Bitcoin falls to $5000, then alts will be very bad, many will not withstand and disappear from the market, because the prices of alts will be very, very low.

I don't think many alts would recover against Bitcoin if this happens and so they will crash even more. Some solid alts with good liquidity like Litecoin may recover but most won't recover in my opinion. Thoughts? :-\

One positive if Bitcoin price crashed would be that hopefully the trash useless crypto with no real team or functionality will probably be on their way out while the stronger crypto with a sizeable community behind them will simply march on.

I think it will not happen because 2020 is expected to be the most robust year of the crypto market and investment demand is on the rise in the first few days of this year. I hope Bitcoin value could soon return to $10,000 this year and will continue this uptrend until a new high price is reached. Of course, that won't happen now and investors need to be more patient.

However, with what is happening and recently World War 3 of the US and Iran are causing a lot of investors to turn to crypto investments.

If the price of Bitcoin can reach $5000 then I believe some altcoins will disappear in the market, but this is not necessarily the case because when we see the market developments sometimes altcoins do not depend on Bitcoin, when the bitcoin drops there are some altcoins Still persisting in the numbers at the moment instead of increasing, perhaps the altcoins not only depends on Bitcoin but the investors are also very instrumental, so if the alts coins have potential then he will continue to survive in the market.

hopefully coins that is only pump and dump and do not have a working product will disappear when bitcoin crashes back  to $5000 or even lower. If those scam projects will be deleted im sure the market will become healthy again and altseason will happen.

If those scam projects (as you refer to) were to disappear from the market it would probably mean more funding and investment for the remaining crypto or genuine crypto projects.

Maybe the only immediate advantage of a $5000 Bitcoin scenario would be the hopefully collapse and removal of all trash coins.

Many coins can be called forgotten, but it still does not improve the market situation. We don't really know how many of them must fall for the situation to improve. Certainly the situation will become clearer at the time of the new bull run. There will definitely be a big difference between projects that are still developing and those that were just fake, or fall. A drop below $5000 would surely brighten up this situation.

altcoin will make prices all time low because altcoin price movements follow bitcoin prices if bitcoin prices continue to fall, traders will continue to sell altcoin
It's just that if Bitcoin falls to a price of $5,000, the market will panic and many people will start selling their alts to save their assets, the market reaction is quite normal
