When IEO launchpad is not yet popular like this time and ethereum can still defend its price from the competitors caused by the majority of icos are using ethereum as native crypto to get funding from the public investors.
Competitors are nothing for ethereum and IEO platform is the main threat to the ethereum platform which has already robbed almost all of the demand from ethereum. At least vitalik has already given a confirmation if ethereum 2.0 will come next year. Ethereum will have moved to the POS way and it will be leaving POW. Blockhalving will have needed by ethereum to achieve POS and determine the total supply. It is a marvel in the crypto ecosystem, but the growth didn't last for a much longer time period.
2018 mentioned to give big growth for altcoins and particularly for ethereum which is the base for altcoins. What's been expected is gonna happen by the falling month. Maybe it looks little complicated and unbelievable, but there is more growth to come with ethereum after the update. He foresees increasing adoption of cryptocurrency in near future and he believes that a major portion of these new adoptions will use ETH chain and smart contract capability to launch their business, so is doing the needful well in advance. However, my personal opinion is that moving to POS consensus will ruin the value of ETH. Even though I don't know what's exactly is going to happen and I want my opinion to fail because I am also an investor of ETH, but making it easier for the mass to earn ETH will make it less exclusive and thus ruins its value! But it's my personal opinion only and time will show us the reality! A coin that is supposed to at least by 50% grow independent of bitcoin, is seen to be falling despite the bitcoin uptrend. Ethereum 2. is supposed to be a decentralized blockchain platform that supports thousands of transactions per second and their processing is cheap and does not require huge energy costs, as it happens now during mining using the Proof-of-Work algorithm. Yes, Proof of Stake is our future because of its effectiveness and efficiency. But just that, ETH does not improve that much and only moves its consensus into PoS. Also, with this step Ethereum is proving once more that it is the top altcoin and will have the higher chance of growing in price sooner than later. Also, taking a look at what Ethereum team aims to achieve, one will see that it is a good one as only few projects has ever embarked on it which are hardly heard of, thereby with Ethereum succeeding will pave the way for most projects which aims to be based on Proof-of-Stake.
