Title: What did you know about Bitcoin before becoming a bitcoiner?
Post by: hatshepsut93 on September 08, 2019, 11:57:36 PM
This is a question to people who at some point discovered Bitcoin, but only became Bitcoin enthusiasts later - what was your experience?

I'll start with my story - I have first learned about Bitcoin in 2012 when I was looking for payment options for one online deal. In the end I used some other payment options, and Bitcoin didn't catch my interest, although I did claim a 0.005 BTC faucet once.

Then in 2014 I have learned about Dogecoin, and I still have vague understanding of cryptocurrency, I traded my BTC for DOGE and even tried to mine DOGE on my GPU. Then I quickly forgot about crypto again.

After that Bitcoin caught my attention in 2016 and I finally became a bitcoiner.

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin. What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?

then again in 2014 i heard about it again but this time i heard there is this thing called bitcoin that you could use to make payments online without any restrictions or middleman,... so i was hooked. and that's when i entered bitcoin.

Was looking for a way to make money online passively when I was younger. I was looking for an alternative of that thing you run and generates you very small amounts of money. It was named Gomez Peer or something like that. Someone suggested Bitcoin mining as an alternative, so there's that.

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin. What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?
They're going to realize the importance of it when they're going to need it. Specifically, I think the first people who are going to realize the importance of a scarce and decentralized asset is the people who are in countries that have experienced and are going to experience financial crisis. Take a look at the Venezuelans. Having a deflationary and unconfiscatable money is a no brainer, because their local currency went to crap. For some demographics like the Americans though? It will be harder to convince the masses because the US Dollar is simply doing fine right now.

There was a Twitter directory called Twiends(they still exist) that accepting bitcoin payments back in 2013.
The price of a Twiends premium account was in bitcoins looked pretty weird to me.It was around 0.0001 btc, so I thought myself  that  bitcoin is a weird currency or token,if something can cost less than 1 btc. ;D
Later that year(2013),bitcoin appeared in the news, due to the first big price pump, but I wasn't insterested at all.I started using BTC back in 2015,when I was selling web design services online.

I don't know anything about bitcoin before 2016. But in 2016, when I browse on one website, I see that a new trend which is going to increase and I am curious about that. Fortunately, one of my friends came to me and talked about his new side job as a trader, and it makes me more interested. Later, I ask him if he is trading forex or other else, but he explains that he is trading bitcoin.

Bitcoin? What is that? That word makes me weird, and I decide to search on Google, but I find that a lot of faucets appears as a result, so I check one by one of the websites. I confuse when I read about the wallet, but then I know that is one place which I can store the bitcoin I have. So I download bitcoin-qt, and the process needs a long time before it's finished.

And now, I become a fan of bitcoin ;D

In 2016, I was struck by Blockchain technology. It was a revolution in my head that there is a way to destroy corruption and decentralization. Then I read the best ways to implement blockchain technology and learned about Bitcoin. Now for 3 years I have been working in the crypto market, I use and trade Bitcoin

I was once a freelancer way back in Odesk, and then heard about bitcoin later. Didn't quite understand that then until I quit being a freelancer for sometime. Then early 2017 started to search on ways to make online money again until I encounter bitcoin that leads me to this community. Join few signature campaigns in 2017, gamble using bitcoin and learn how to trade and invest as well.

Like what Ygritte repeatedly told John Snow, I knew NOTHING about cryptocurrencies in general.

When my friend first introduced bitcoin, I was actually expecting some internet-related scheme that involves transactions via networking. I ignored it once but when he showed to me his wallet in our local exchange, my current stigma about earning online quickly diminished.

I first joined this forum last June 2017 with the mindset of earning money. But upon reading various threads across different categories, I quickly realized the potential of cryptocurrency if being adapted into our current financial system.
Today, I have reached the rank of Sr. Member and I still consider myself as someone who yearns to learn everyday about anything related to bitcoin and on how it could be fully implemented to our country.

I have been noticing the BTC sign on some sites long before I discover bitcoin but never really gave attention to it. until my sister introduced it to me and say that
I can earn money by earning bitcoin through mining, faucet etc... she also said that there is a forum(this forum) that would pay you for posting. I was reluctant at first
and just created an account here because she said I should try it after getting to jr member I joined a signature campaign and earned my first mbtc after earning enough
mbtc I made my first transaction to exchange it into fiat and at that time it made me realize that this could help me a lot with my bills and that is the reason why eventually entered bitcoin.

Before I started trading I knew nothing about bitcoin and for me it was a completely new wonderful world
Well we all do experience it, I was actually busy that day because i'm looking for a job until one of my friend recommend bitcoin. Its kind of strange because we are not that close but I give it a try. I look for some information, watched some YouTube videos, and read some article about it. It is undoubtedly a magnificent coincidence, it opens new opportunities for me and new adventures.

My most embarrassing moment was that in late 2012 I heard that you could mine Bitcoin through your client, and then assumed that the process of downloading and validating blocks was the actual mining process. I was legit waiting for 25BTC to pop up, lol. You can imagine that I was pretty upset after like 8 hours of staring to a monitor. :D

My next also quite embarrassing moment was that I thought that Litecoin would take over Bitcoin because it was faster. I really didn't like Bitcoin all that much when I started. It was very slow when an exchange requires you to wait for 3-6 confirmations. Litecoin deposits came through much and much faster and for that reason it became my favorite coin.

It took me until late 2014 to figure out that Bitcoin is the shit to focus on. Prior to that I lost a lot of Bitcoins investing in altcoins, and they mostly all turned out to be a scam, and I lost a lot of Bitcoins playing dice. I had almost no Bitcoins left due to the bad investments and bad choices, but luckily the bear market hit the market and I managed to refill my cold wallets by buying the market down from $300 to $200.

Since then I haven't touched a single altcoin (aside from the forks that I cashed out to Bitcoin) and never gambled again. Best choices of my life.

I had come across bitcoins way back in 2011 when someone offered me some Satoshis, instead of paying me money via PayPal however I turned it down because I wasn’t aware what it was. When i came to this forum in 2016 suddenly I realised what it was, and how holding it would change my life. The only way to catch their attention is to show what we brought with it, like I have brought IPhone X, Fitbit and other gadgets with it and I show these to all and suddenly they want to know more about bitcoins.

At the end of 2013 I've read about something called Bitcoin, that worth money and you can generate such coins (hence money) with your computer. Back then I was using the CPU anyway for world community grid, so I thought "let's at least earn a little off this".
After about one month of useless GPU mining (I was way too late) I noticed that even if I mine an entire year, I will be way under the minimum amount to withdraw from pool lol!
I turned then to altcoins: shortly Litecoin and for quite some months Dogecoin - I caught some of the good days and most of the drama.
There were a good number of years I kept looking for altcoins, even after "meeting" bitcointalk, but at the end I turned to Bitcoin. I think that I wasted about 2 years (after reading about Bitcoin!) before becoming a Bitcoiner... quite a shame...

I first learnt about it in 2009 before it had a price. I vaguely recall thinking it was an interesting idea, the bloke writing about it said it was going to change the world, but I forgot about it rapidly so I'm not sure whether I count for this thread.

In 2013 it reentered my mind. Six hours later I owned some.

I'm not exactly objective but I couldn't imagine learning a reasonable amount about it and not getting an immediate boner. I suppose these days it's much, much easier to hear about it in passing in countless places. In the past you had to seek it out which would've set you up to delve deeper no matter what.

I never heard of this before 2015. It was completely new to me, a friend of mine suggested to invest regularly from my day job stating this is gonna get you a big earning in the future. On what basis he suggested I don't know, I got convinced and planned to buy small amount from my day job. This continued for a short, but I was unable to carry forward because of some immediate need for money. If I've saved regularly now I could've got rich.

at first I thought bitcoin was illegal because it was identical to deepwab. I read a few articles about bitcoin and I see that bitcoin is used negatively. and because of that I'm not interested.

a few months later I found an article about bitcoin pizza, I thought this article was just all hoax information. but after I found out this turned out to be a real incident. because of this I began to find out why the price of bitcoin could surge in just a few years.

after I found out about bitcoin, crypto, blockchain, and altcoin. I'm a little sorry why at first I thought bitcoin was a bad thing. now I'm here to be one of the traders who make profit from crypto.

Before starting I didn't knew much. Worst thing that most things that I knew about Bitcoin was wrong. I wasn't very interested, so I knew only some wrong things and stereotypes that it's very difficult to use Bitcoin, everything can collapse at any moment and etc. And these stereotypes probably was main reason why I started everything later than I could. Back in 2015 I was looking for ways how to make some money online. And then I become interested in Bitcoin, I started reading about it and then I decided to give a try. This is how everything started

the american government shut down my online poker sites (full tilt and pokerstars) in 2011. after this happened, it became difficult for americans to deposit/withdraw from poker sites. there was some discussion on the 2+2 poker forums about bitcoin and its capabilities, and a bitcoin poker site called seals with clubs emerged. in 2012, i eventually bought some coins p2p on the forum and tried it out. unfortunately, player liquidity was awful and there weren't enough games to make any real money. so i forgot about bitcoin for a while.

the following april, i had a co-worker who asked me if i knew about bitcoin. i had no idea the market was bubbling at the time. when i saw the charts, i was immediately hooked and started trading. i lost a bunch of money at first, but over the next year i learned how to trade profitably and started becoming enamored with the technology. can't believe it's been almost 7 years!

I knew little to nothing about it other than what people promoted Bitcoin as, which was a new form of online currency for payments. I however didn't care much about that aspect with how fascinated I was by its price.

I started out as get rich quick noob waiting for price movements to make money. The reality however was that I ended up doing more buy high sell low than vice versa. It rook me a while to figure out what I did wrong.

Bull runs is what gets most people drawn to this space, while the bear markets afterwards clean up the space where we end up with more people who are here for the right reasons, which is to promote decentralized sound money.

At 2015 I was told about Bitcoin information. But at that time I was not interested in Bitcoin and the system that is in the crypto.

After 2 years then precisely in 2017, I was attracted to Bitcoin. And I started learning Crypto trading and maybe I was in luck because many coins started to rise in price.

And I guess I got into crypto at the right time. But I regret not from my first entry in this industry.

I have known bitcoin before in a very negative way. People i know are claiming that bitcoin is totally a scam and it will only make my finances even worser. So i ignore bitcoin that time believing that it was really a scam one. But when one of my friends told me that bitcoin can offer huge profits more than from what our salary rate can offer, so i decided to give it a try and take a risks. That's when i started to become a bitcoiner and have recognized its real worth and value.

I got to know bitcoin in 2016 through my friends but when I didn't explore further, it was only limited to know. In early 2017, another friend of mine talked about bitcoin to me again and talked a lot about bitcoin and he later donated the amount of bitcoin he had in the amount of 0.01 to me. But at that time I was confused and there were lots of questions about bitcoin. What is bitcoin, for what bitcoin was donated to me, where did my friends know about bitcoin and many other questions in my head. Finally I decided to start looking for information about this bitcoin which finally brought me to this forum. Maybe my turning point to become a bitcoiner is after I found this forum and started to understand about bitcoin to make me start collecting bitcoin until now ;)

I was on Indian forum back in the day and there were some people who used to talk about it.

So I searched about it on Google and asked some online friends. First, impression was Bitcoin is some illegal thing, just like many newbies in crypto world still think.

If they dig deep enough they will realize the truth.

Then there was a stellar airdrop, which made me dig deeper into BTC and cryptocurrencies, then I started sports betting through directbet as it was easier than fiat.

i collected some BTC through faucets as well, collected it on blockchain.info wallet and later started using Coinomi wallet (still using it). Faucets were giving 5-10k satoshi per claim at that time.

When I started today's top coins were dirt cheap, BTC like $150, ltc $4, dash $2 lol

I didn't had money at that time and wasn't sure about crypto market either.

Looking back, it has been a fun ride!

I do not think there is actually anyone who accepted the bitcoin upon hearing about it, and my own story or experience isn't any different, when my brother started being enthusiastic about the bitcoin in 2017, I was totally indifferent and disinterested in the network, I believed it was run by scammers and sooner than later it'll come to a standstill.

In 2018, after much convincing, I was forced to look up some things about the bitcoin, which I did. I hence found out its potentials and how different it was from all the regular ponzi scam I knew about.
Ever since then, I've earned bitcoin through a number of ways:Bounties, fiat and trading, I can tell you that the bitcoin network is something worth experiencing.

Before my journey as a bitcoiner began, I already knew bitcoin was a digital cyptocurrency with limited supply just 21million backed by mathematics and the founder Satoshi is still anonymous. The other informations like transaction are been confirmed by miners, and transactions are irreversible were information I received while been a bitcoiner.

Exactly my experience too.

Nothing much, you know. Actually, nothing at all. I first heard of bitcoin way back 2017. My friends were talking about it and I overheard them that it's one way of earning money. As a typical person who knew nothing about digital currency, I thought of it as a hoax. Like, "Nah, there's no such thing." Or if there is, then it probably is just a scam.

But few months after, one of my friends was able to buy new things like a phone, and clothes and told me that it was all thanks to bitcoin. That caught my attention and realized that it was not a scam after all. Then I got curious and gave it a shot. And now I'm here. It's been two years since I registered in this forum and I'm still looking forward to more years on staying here. :)

You guys are lucky to know bitcoin early, me, I know bitcoin in 2016 because I discovered it's easy to gamble using bitcoin compared to depositing money in fiat gambling sites which is not instant and it's so costly. I was just so interested more with bitcoin when I know I have a chance to earn online through signature campaign, after that, I participated in ICO while I still continue gambling and in the past, ICO are really profitable but made a major profit in 2017.

Now, despite of the bad market condition I experience where most of my investments are dropping, I am still here because like in the past, I still believe that bitcoin will be able to rise in value and will again give me some good rewards.

Honestly for me before i start to know bitcoin is a scam and used in darknet to buy such as drugs, gunz, payment service, etc. In 2013 i remember my friend tell me about the price of bitcoin is $10,000 at the time he encourage me to faucet bitcoin that i ignored the opportunity on it.
I've also heard that bitcoin is a scam and much worse than bitcoin but I don't usually believe in everything I hear, I need to get involved in reality to confirm that, and starting from the early stages, understand bitcoin, know satoshi, then join free faucets, and up till now, i'm probably grown up and become a bitcoiner. It's been a long time, with a lot of luck, but the saddest thing was I didn't have the capital, otherwise I would have had a better life soon

When I entered crypto and made a trade, I didn't know much about Bitcoin. I am only interested because of a lot of information that investing in crypto is very profitable. At that time I did not buy Bitcoin directly, but I bought an Altcoin. But the Altcoin was experiencing very slow growth. And at the end of the year, 2017 turned out all altcoins can succeed. So I was also immediately interested in trading Bitcoin.

The only thing I know about bitcoin at the time was the symbol. I have seen the symbol several times on sites especially where payment through some e-payments options are being listed and I didn't even care. At the time, the common ones were PayPal, Liberty Reserve, Skrill or so and some other payments. I just moved on not until sometimes in 2016 before I got to do some deep reading to have a basic understanding and since then, I can say its a gradual process to becoming a bitcoiner.

I heard about Bitcoin by chance. It was simply something like ads in google (yes, it was, and exactly in Google!), where it is offered to try some "strange" mining of some strange digital currency. It seemed to be something very easy (it was available on the computer that time). Although it did not bring much profit, I started learning more about BTC and finally, I was involved in the crypto world.

I just know about bitcoin before l enter bitcoin is bitcoin gives income and that is all l need. Later on l found out not just income but giving profits that can multiply if bitcoin is getting higher. That time im really excited to have income because l met bitcoin at the price of $22k..So l start at the best rate of salary.

Hmm my story is kinda similar to yours. I didn't really paid attention to it, but i guess i first learned about it the first time it got posted on /. (which was quite early, 2009 i think). But, i happened to be on Freenode a lot for small talk and the occasional Linux helping. One of my hobbies has always been #anime, and guess who was the channel founder? Certain someone who now is on the core team...

Anyway for various reasons i wasn't able to obtain bitcoins easily and i lost interest. But later people would joke some much about dogecoin that, yes, you should remember me joining that channel and since they were giving them away all the time, i could familiarize my self with all the basic concepts:

Wallets (both lite and full node), sending money to others, transfer fees, irreversibility, etc.

Since those "joke" coins were free, any mistakes wouldn't hurt as much. But then i found myself with a bunch of them and i think i wanted to buy something, almost nobody takes doge but exchanges do, and those were converted into bitcoin and then i found myself already knowing how to do things...

Possibly some people enjoyed bitcoin faucets in the very early days and could experiment carelessly.

So what could be done? Perhaps easier access to testnet, so people could familiarize themselves. I don't think any of the wallets expose a simple ui control to switch to testnet (instead of mainnet) and get "free coins". But then you would need some site of sorts to play with them, perhaps some game or anything that would work with testnet instead.

Testnet is supposed to be for developers but end users could benefit from it, i think. Else you could still go to an altcoin, but even dogecoin stopped being given as widely as it used to, back in 2013. Turns out Doge is mostly just Litecoin which is one of the closest to actual Bitcoin. But blocks occur every 2.5m, and mining production is unlimited. Of course its unprofitable to mine, and has already exhausted all its halvings years ago.

I never got my hands into an L3 to mine it for lulz, yeah, scrypt just like Litecoin.
Oh, i also learned about Exchanges disappearing overnight, and cloud mining scams... Invaluable experience, from Moolah and Garza :P

Attracted to Bitcoiner at the end of 2016. It took me a long time to get involved in Bitcoin trading. I tried mining, but it was very difficult because it needed expensive equipment. From there I tried to buy an Altcoin, but then the developments were quite slow. In the end, I bought Bitcoin, and I use it for daily trading.

However, I did not expect that the end of 2017 that all the coins succeeded. Bitcoin gives a profit, and until now I continue to trade in Bitcoin.

I only learned Bitcoin when my companion said to me that I need to register in this forum to earn some money and learn more about crypto. The rest is self study from that time.

I tried to do some research into how to earn Bitcoins and I stumbled into faucets. I put my earnings in faucets in cloud mining called "eobot" and since I don't know about it as a non profitable mining, I invested my earnings on faucet on it until I went into bounty hunting. While doing bounty hunting, I've been reading and reading here but I don't know the complex things about Bitcoin until now :D. I know only the basics of it and that is enough I think.

Lol, when I got introduced to bitcoin, that time coincided with when I just got being scammed heavily by these so call Ponzi scheme call just being paid, I invested heavily in it with the hope that they would pay me the percentage they used in luring me then, and when my friend I reduced bitcoin to me, he came from the angle of investment and doubling of money in future, and never explained the real system of bitcoin to me, which I tool shabbily and dusted it off my hear, until the hype actually began.

The hype actually began before the 2017, it was then I knew something was special about the bitcoin, which I took my time to read about it, and then understood the reason why it was created and what the future holds for it, at that point was when I decided to  be a bitcoiner.

It was first introduced to be by my uncle but he wasn't a bitcoiner before. And he told me that bitcoin is something that is used in the dark web or a currency in the dark web. So initially, I thought it was as currency made by the people there. Year 2017, is when I started joining bounties and started reading things about bitcoin.

I first heard about Bitcoin on one of my favorite radio stations before 2013 or 2014. I must have read about it too on few websites but never took it seriously because I didn't see the need for it then.
I first used Bitcoin before 2017 to buy something on the Internet but I wasn't still interested then... I just happened to buy stuff with bitcoin from a seller who only accept Bitcoin.
I eventually started researching about Bitcoin in late 2016. Most of those researches led me to this forum

2012 is the year where bitcoin is making a presence, I also heard and read it back in 2012, but I did not take it seriously because in the first place I don't know how it works and this is something new to my ears and understanding.

It was only that I read and watch it full time on Youtube that I understand how it works and it's potential in the market, but no regret since I adopt it 2015 and it's still early to adopt it, I'm happy to where I am now, I am now a part of a great community.

Before, the only thing I know about bitcoin is that it is intangible meaning it cannot be touch because its only in the digital world and can only be access using internet. After reading and staying in this forum, my knowledge are increasing but of course, I'm still learning.

I started with one of my friends saying about bitcoin and how one of his friends used the computer at our school to farm them. This was the time when bitcoin was still fairly unknown and still didn't have much monetary value. I tried dabbing into it for a bit but wasn't that interested then. When my friend updated me that bitcoin was rising and I should try it out again, I became more involved and that's what happened. It was I think around end of 2015 or the start of 2016.
Probably people don't consider it is cause they don't know much about how bitcoin works as a payment/investment option. Well, they're hugely missing out on the big things that way though.

I was curious enough to know and figure out what that is, and that is my first encounter to bitcoin. I was inititially a trader and since most of the trading websites didn't accept credit cards from my country, I had to use the defunct Liberty Reserve at that time and when the FBI seized control of it, the trading websites started accepting Perfect Money and Bitcoins but when i realized Bitcoin grows in value over time, i decided to use that alone.

At first I was not interested in cryptocurrency when I was first introduced by a friend. Trading was the first thing I knew when I first knew Bitcoin.
The price is very volatile which makes me not interested to have it.  But after learning more, reading and learning about trading, I decided to start little by little. Bitcoin has made me change for the better, although sometimes it makes me disappointed to lose, but at least I have enjoyed the highest period of it.

Then a few months later, I was told to become a trader, having a capital to start with even a little will help me to earn. Telling me that it will take time to earn, then I convinced myself to learn how to be patient. That's how I start learning everything how it works in crypto world.

I was a real rookie when I was first introduced to Bitcoin and I thought it was some kind of scam or Ponzi scheme. I was looking for a alternative payment system to use online, because I was a victim of credit card fraud. Someone mentioned to me that I must look into Bitcoin and I jumped onto Google and started to research more about the technology.

I watched many videos and I bought books and I read lots of information on the Internet about Crypto currencies, before I really understood what it was all about. Once I understood the Whitepaper and the underlying technology, I was hooked.  ;)

When i saw how much momey he earns and deposited thru his bank account, how he efficiently booked travel and hotel reservations online and even shop online,  when he’s on quite long vacation yet he never run out of funds so i was shocked and became curious how bitcoin work and i knew for sure that if others can, why can’t i? So i give it a try and here i am earning and still learning to be  the reliable  bitcoiner.

I signed up for an account to avail their online financial services. From then I keep on researching about cryptocurrencies, as I am excited about its potential. I discover bitcointalk while searching on opportunity online about bitcoin and the rest is history.

I didn't know anything about Bitcoin before becoming a bitcoiner. It was really a day to day thing. I heard about it from a friend and googled it. Then after about an hour of reading I was already on an exchange getting my first coins. I first started trading because I was focused on getting fast profit but then came bull runs and I didn't care anymore. I had so much profit from holding that I saw no need to trade anymore.

When I read about it I thought I had to have some of this new thing. It drawn me to it like a moth to a flame.

I've know bitcoin around 2016. I learned to do signature campaign posting where I can earn bitcoin. I was able to do trading as well. I'm doing it part time since I also have my full time job. Until now I'm still a bitcoiner.

I'm sorry dude but you didn't learn shit. You're still writing one liner spam posts. I hope you did better in trading that you're doing in posting.

On topic: I didn't know anything. I heard that it's some new ponzi scheme, traded on MtGox and it imploded and left people with nothing. That's what the mainstream media were saying. I began to read about mining and then cloud mining. I traded a bit, took part in signature campaigns giveaways and airdrops. As my coins were worth more I felt the need to know more about the inner workings of this machine.

I found about faucets through this site about the member of the other forum recommended it to me. Then on the faucets I found all kinds of links and looked at them. I learnt a lot about scams and HYIP ponzi. I also learnt many good things.

I started to learn how bitcoin and being a bitcoiner since 2017 ago and I learn from my friend who has been known bitcoin since 2013 ago.

At that time, I just unemployment person who didn't have lot of money even I don't have $10 in my pocket, yeah I just graduated form university and still looking form some jobs but I didn't get it. You have to know I live in the country who difficult to find a job although I have high diploma.

So, I just came to my friend's home and he didn't do anything but he had a lot of money and he can buy anything he want, I'm curious with what he did and where he got a lot of money. Finally he told me where he got money and gave me a learning about bitcoin and this forum as well. At that time, I read everything about this forum and learn hard to speak/write english because it was a bridge to get what I wanted.

Eventually, I can learn some money on this forum through signature campaign and leaving a time to learn trading so as I can trade and got some money on it. Just be honest, I felt to this way because the money matter and I'm so grateful I was felt to this way because I don't need to wake up in early morning and go to the company to work.

Before getting to know Bitcoin, I was just someone who was trying to find dollar coffers through the PayperClick site. yeah, that is a pretty good thing for started. I have seen bitcoin several times before, it's just that I thought it was a tool for playing gambling, moreover the picture of dogecoin was also almost the same as bitcoin, so I thought that it was the same unit.

in 2014, I already tried to use PayperClick that were paid using bitcoin. it was quite useful for me, moreover, at that time, the web faucet was also still quite worth. however, making $ 1- $ 10 is something extraordinary for me.

the deeper I learned about bitcoin, and following the current, I was taken to this forum. and finally, I tried to learn about trading, investing and more. so aware, it turns out that bitcoin is a really very broad technology.

Well.. I have to admit the truth here. I first got in to cryptocurrency almost three years back, in 2017 January. One of my friends introduced me to Bitcoins and he was in to it since 2012. Before 2017, I had never heard about Bitcoin and even if some stranger had talked to me about BTC, then I would have considered as a ponzi scheme or a scam.

I think it for sure helped me and them with a lot of things .

I started Bitcoin in 2014. I was accidentally discovered when I was looking for online jobs. It may sound funny but I used to earn 0.01 BTC daily when it was priced at 200 $. I make 1 $ daily and have been really happy since then because I have proven that I can make money with Bitcoin.

2016 to 2018 here I have made a lot of money and have started a business.

I first came across bitcoin when I was trying to find a way to make money online. I also discovered it because growing up I always wanted to buy things online but never could and my parents would not allow me to use the bank account. Finally, my father got paypal connected when I was in my last year of school but it was not the same. Being paid had fees and all this tape it was a pain. Being paid was a problem. Then bitcoin dolved this problem. I also wanted to start mining and I really wish I had however I am at least glad I never since the website we were planning to get the miner from was a scam. However we know about bitcoin when it was only $10
I lost interested for 3 years due to personal issues and I then returned and began working on the forum and collect and learning of new methods to make money doing all sorts of things.

One of my friend explained about bitcoin, further he instructed to create a blockchain wallet and he showed me how transaction takes place. Those were days when bitcoin was under $500, and he explained about the value. By that time this price itself looked like a big thing. He showed me about faucets and campaigns through which bitcoin can be earned. This is where I started to earn bitcoin, and I had a thinking over bitcoin as an way of earning and nothing more. Later as years passed understood what bitcoin is all about and its advantages.

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin. What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?

Same experiences as yours it took me a long time to become a Bitcoiner, only after reading a lot of articles and watching testimonials on Youtube I soon realized I need to be on Bitcoin and be part of it's propagation, one of the main attraction to me is becoming a bounty hunter where I earn tokens that I can trade to Bitcoin, there are so many good testimonials, I do not regret coming in and sharing my experiences and testimonials.

My story is a rare one, at that time my only goal is to earn extra money while working as my work is very simple and I have plenty of time using the internet. So while I am bored, I joined a lot of forum and that is the first time I meet satoshi but I didn't think of it as important as the price at that time is very low it is somewhat 200$ per 1 bitcoin.

But after I transfer to bitcointalk forum, I dig a lot about cryto currencies especially the bitcoin and the benefits of it. And after that it took me like 6 months of reading and understand how the forum works and how the crypto currencies work.

I did nothing at that time, I only read and do some research. Then after 6 months, I started my journey as a bitcoiner and started to earn some satoshis from free faucets, bounty campaigns, airdrops and few services that I offered.

Not much at the beginning, I tried to read and gather information from different sources in the internet for a better understanding of what btc is all about, there are tons of things to learn about this technology it depends how deep your are willing to go as an individual (trader, investors, developers etc)
At least now I know a lot better than before enough to get me around the use of crypto, still I keep pushing to understand as much as I can accommodate.

In 203, it was possible to mine using PC and getting some profits, so that it was the start. Later, when Bitcoin started showing its growth, YouTube channels helped me a lot to understand that crypto is our future.

wish I knew more about bitcoin when I started in 2011
the times when you could claim 0.1-0.5 a day from faucets and mine same amount with your GPU
I only started reading about what bitcoin was in 2013 , in 2014 I had several GPU mining rigs
five - six years ago bitcoin was something extraordinary , for geeks , at least that was how I perceived it first
I remember how shocked I was when it went up to 0.2$ from like 0.01-0.2$
hindsight is always 20/20 , wish I was smart enough to not blow my bitcoin stash at the time

I looked into what made the prices climb so much, and then realised it was mostly due to crypto mining, I spent like an entire night reading about it and also learned how BTC worked for the most part, and then I started looking at forums, etc, and learning more as time goes on.

I got into this in 2013 out of boredom. Was going to put up my old BBS game server back up (was huge) $60 a month it would be in electric

and around $2.5k to lever the thing back up with equipment etc. I also had the 'book' version of Game of Thrones Swords ( I got them because

I thought George RR Martin was the next Tolkien...I nailed that!) HBO announced Game of Thrones TV Series. So I kept walking by the Swords and

finally sold them all for $2.5K with the other set aside $2.5k I figured I could get a KNC BTC Jupiter miner (It was I think $5,301.80?) instead and

looking at difficulty at the time I ordered it (July 2013) I figured it might ROI in 9 months and maybe I'd get another 6 months out of the beast

to pay for house utilities before it went doorstop. Also, in 2013 was a big push to help the new thing 'micro-lending' in India and such so I figured

what the heck, see if it helps the world. The day I turned it on October 18th, 2013 I think I made ONE BTC a day and BTC at least some time that particular

day and cranked the unit up and when I looked, it was at $150 USD per BTC. Thus, you know the rest. Shortly after this, all heck broke loose and the roller coaster ride began.

But in reality, I started it rather than a game server out of boredom and to help micro-lending and maybe pay for its own electric and perhaps some modest

return on utilities. So by whatever measure, even if the whole shebang goes full tulips and beanie babies. It has allowed me to retire 3 years early and been

a hell of a lot of fun. An yes, I am still in HODL mode. From $18k to $3.2k and now back to $8.6k.

What the heck, some people Skydive or free rock climb or dive with sharks...I HODL...pretty much the same sense of fear/wonder/dread and euphoria for any I guess.

Chump or Champ. We will see.

Brad

Before becoming a bitcoiner, I heard Bitcoin could generate lots of profit but I did not understand the full concept of its investment. Other articles also presented negative tags about it because most of the people out there with limited knowledge in crypto still have the misconception that Bitcoin is involved in some sort of scam. This is why, the crypto community, each member must endeavor to stand the position to correct the public on such misconceptions.

As far as I remember first time I heard about bitcoin I got to know it's virtual means of payment. For quite a long time I thought that it is nothing but just another variant of paypal which let's users make payments on international websites. It was later that I came to know it has it's own price and therefore realized it's a currency in itself. Then i studied more and realized that how it's different from fiat and other assets and this was the time when I was introduced to this forum. Then for sometime I never heard about this currency until when the wave of cryptocurrencies suddenly came.

I thought at first that bitcoin is just a currency that it is used only for hyip websites. Way back 2016 many people promoted a certain hyip website where you can earn free amounts under someone's referral. I saw it everyday to the point that it got me curious. I researched other ways to earn it and I learned about faucets. I tried both of those but stopped in the long run because I think faucets are just a waste of time and I've been scammed by some HYIPs.

almost same story like yours but i discover crypto little late in 2015 when i was in working in computer company but my function is not totally computer related because i was in electrical department
one of the employee becomes my close friend and he introduced me about bitcoin that time, but since i am not really a tech person i just did not give big interest not until we separate ways as he transferred into another company

until in late 2016 when a cousin told me about his investment in crypto not only bitcoin because he was joining ICO that time is growing fast and i remember about what my friend is trying to teach me wayback.

and thats the start of my crypto journey and the rest is history lol
Quote

Looking back at all this, I wonder why it took me so long to became more involved in Bitcoin.
thinking the same and i am sure thousands or millions of us having the same thoughts  ;D

I stumbled accidentally into Bitcoin by sitting idle in my hotel room and browsing the net all day long in early 2013. By that time its price was about 30 USD. Took me long time to actually buy some. Before that day I just knew that bitcoin existed but no more than that. Much earlier I enjoyed using  Pretty Good Privacy program so I understood value of privacy and I think that is why bitcoin attracted me.

Before I engaged with cryptos I don't know that exactly what is crypto. I know it as bitcoin in general. Before, I have read many articles about bitcoin stating that it is often use in deep or darkweb. Probably in some illegal stuffs like drugs and pornography. Before I thought that it was not real until I knew that my classmate was earning good money with these crypto that is why I became intetested and tried this trend.

I have a nice story to share. I wanted a new PC and I searched for opportunity to earn money through online. I found some options like cpa marketing, view advertisements, captcha entry etc. And I tried some of them, earned very tiny amount of money. Suddenly I found a link of a crypto that paid coins for playing games. And through that program, a heard about mining. Fortunately I had decent graphic card and from there I started my crypto journey few years ago.

Honestly, I really don't care about knowing bitcoin at first. My friend keeps babbling me about bitcoin and investments. Later on, I was convinced and starts to buy and earn some bitcoin from different sites. I read articles about bitcoin and the articles about bitcoin that time is limited, By the way, it happens in early 2013. I was hibernated for a year and come back in 2016 because a bull run happens at that time and I want to surf the waves to earn profits. It's hard to think that my friend who keeps babbling me helps me on my current life situation and we both still use bitcoin until now. I'm very thankful to him that he didn't give up trying to teach me how to use it.

I actually also started to hear about BTC back in 2012 but shrugged it off as some scam. But I used to trade forex and stocks in those days and from time to time they actually did some bitcoin charts and I was puzzled why they would do that since to me it seems like some scam.

It wasn't until I started mining back in 2014 and learning about blockchain technology and difficulty and how security works where I actually got interested. And the rest is history and since that time I've invested more and more time to learning about BTC and ETH and taught a few people locally how it works and many people like the idea.

I think bitcoin got a lot of bad publicitiy in the past and that is why many people stay away from it. It started with the Silk Road bust, then with the massive price crashes, MtGox issues, and people just got a bad taste in their mouth when they hear about cryptos in general.

That is started from 2013, where i am still learning about business online.
At that time i still use some payment processor.
First i use paypal but they need verification also that is expensive. Then i move to Liberty Reserve, but the government block the site. So i move to Webmoney, but that is hard to find the exchanger.
So i hear Bitcoin, firstly that is weird they use decentralized. But i still curious to learn it.
So i try find how to get it, first i join on freebitco.in, i refer around 200+ real referral. From there i got around 1 BTC.
But my mistake i gamble it, because i think this is really easy to get it and also cheap.
So i look year by year the price is bullish. I confidence to still become bitcoiner.

Pretty similar to how I heard about it as well, I actually think our stories are probably the most common ones that are out there, and it begins with us just shrugging it off as a scam during the early period.

Then it ends up with us paying closer attention to it either via investing or mining and then we start learning about i more, liked hearing your story.

Mines a bit different that I only used to use BTC for game transactions and gambling when I didn't realise it had actual value.

Well... I first heard about Bitcoin in 2013, when my husband talked about it. I couldn't understand anything and I told him that I was not interested. But I regretted that decision later that year, when Bitcoin went up by more than 100x. I registered to this forum in 2014, and have been trying to accumulate as many BTC as I can, ever since. I think that a lot of people had experience similar to mine. When I first heard about Bitcoin, I thought that it some ponzi or pyramid scheme (I had lost some amount to ponzi schemes before coming to know about BTC).

The first time I heard about Bitcoin is way back 2014, that is the time when I'm so addicted in spending cash on different online games and then one day a merchant of an online games item that I knew told me that he also accept Bitcoin as payment for the items that I was buying but I told him that I don't know about Bitcoin, the price of BTC is around $500 that time.

I do regret that I didn't make a proper research when the merchant told me about it because I just got involve in Bitcoin 2 years ago before the bull run started.

Frankly speaking, I didn't know anything about bitcoin prior to becoming bitcoiner. When I first started using bitcoin, I didn't even know how it works. All I used to know was that there are very different ways to earn bitcoin than traditional money like using faucets, micro-earning sites, etc. and such earnings will grow over time if hold as the bitcoins.

You might successfully enjoy your journey after investing to this industry since you are calling yourself as bitcoiners. The time of you investment is a good timing as bitcoin value early 2017 is still cheap, then the rest was history. Learning this market was a blessing to many investors who manage to
catch the right train to ride, while for some who's still learning and trying also to succeed it's still possible to earn decent if you have the right attitude and good optimistic point of views.

As most users I too knew about bitcoin as virtual money. When I was introduced to bitcoin usage he explained it doesn't have a physical presence. Everything can be visually seen, and it does everything that can be done with physical currencies. Along with the same this gives opportunity to earn. This is how I heard about bitcoin, and I belive most of the users in the forum seems to have similar experience as mine.

The last I remembered is that when I was introduced to Bitcoin 5 years ago (I also created my first Bitcoin wallet and this account), I didn’t understand everything about it except telling me that I should buy low and sell high.

I was too focused in my network marketing journey back then, so I didn’t felt like investing there in Bitcoin. Three years later, I finally decided to learn more about Bitcoin because it was on its way to its all-time high.

P.S. I could have been a Legendary member by now if I was so active in this forum since 2014. However, I didn’t post until 3 years later. I just regretted a little bit.

I became aware of bitcoin existence 6 years ago but I didnt pay much attention as I thought its a scam virtual currency. Then 2015 I joined in a facebook investment wherein the payment method is through btc so I decided to create a wallet to receive my payout. I became interested in bitcoin (after experiencing scam investment online) due to its volatility. Then I started to research about it and the other alts as well particularly eth and the rest is history.

Now its been few years since I became crypto enthusiast and despite of the ups and down of the market I still believe in the future of crypto and the blockchain technology.

And then I came across bitcoin again in 2017, I saw like an ad about bitcoin the source of income of a lot of people, it looks very promising to me this, I researched about it and find ways to earn some but since I don’t know anyone who sells it so I earned my first bitcoin through mining and it was pretty amazing, I just tried it just to check if it was indeed legit and it is legit and I didn’t regret taking time researching and earning bitcoin. I first understood the world of cryptocurrency at the end of 2016 and at that time I still didn't believe that bitcoin could be made for transactions. in my opinion bitcoin is just a digital asset or a developed digital currency may be satoshi Nakamoto in 2009 whose superiority is no more than a gold. but over time, I understand that bitcoin is a very profitable asset because it can be traded and made to invest, even with bitcoin someone can trade anywhere without requiring a long time. and now more and more people are looking for income from bitcoin, there are those who invest long-term and there are also those who do daily trading for profit. I am sure that the development of the world economy will be even better in the future with Bitcoin.

You can get many strategies online for earning money but cryptocurrency is the easiest way to do it. As I have been trading bitcoins for the past two years, I would suggest that one should invest in cryptocurrency but be alert of the frauds, just be aware before investing your money anywhere. There are many online platforms that can guide you on how and where to invest your money to make a profit. As I have been into bitcoin trading for the past two years, I would suggest you https://xbinop.com/review/iq-option/ (https://xbinop.com/review/iq-option/) is one of the best online platforms for bitcoins as the best part of this platform is the security and reliability of the platform. I can guarantee you it's one of the best among the rest.

I started in bitcoin when I was looking for extra income on the internet, And bitcoin I found, I started in faucet but I didn't earn enough here. So I've been working since then but back when the bull run started here I got interest because a lot of people make big money here. So here I am focusing on and discovering other revenue opportunities in Bitcoin and in other Altcoin.
I started in fauce too, at first I am happy if I have a .5$ in total , since I need a part time job to support my studies , and then I found this forum in which there are several bounties that I could join. I am happy that I have earned before , because now I have completed my studies. I didnt believe in bitcoin or in any digital cryptocurrency before.

I tried doing faucet before, but I wasn't patient enough to wait and achieve their minimum withdrawal.
It takes my whole time every single day, in return, you will only get a little amount of money, it will take you a whole month to reach their minimum withdrawal.
Because of that, I tried something new like trading, then I have found this forum and learned bounty hunting.

i learned about bitcoin back in 2012- early 2013 and what i heard was that there is this thing called bitcoin which you can generate on your PC and sell it for a good profit. my friend was mining bitcoin and was earning money. so i never bothered with it back then!

then again in 2014 i heard about it again but this time i heard there is this thing called bitcoin that you could use to make payments online without any restrictions or middleman,... so i was hooked. and that's when i entered bitcoin.
I learn bitcoin from investing with hype project where I use payment using bitcoin, before knowing bitcoin as digital payment and investment assets as trading or investing I know bitcoin only digital payment without have chance to increase price to higher, so far I am still think bitcoin will be the same price like other currency like PayPal and Perfect Money or skrill.

What if millions of other people know about Bitcoin, but don't consider it as payment option or investment or store of value - how can we catch their attention?

and this is my story, I first said the word bitcoin earlier in 2016 from someone who first learned bitcoin. and I at that time still lacked confidence in bitcoin, I assumed that bitcoin was like forex, and even worse I considered bitcoin to be a pyramid system because I had not yet studied deeply about bitcoin. but over time I was able to understand bitcoin correctly, because my friend never got bored giving me understanding. I myself realize that it took me a long time to get involved in bitcoin. but if it's now, I don't think it will take as long as before. for example, if you have succeeded because of bitcoin, maybe indirectly the people around you will be enthusiastic to understand everything about bitcoin because they would want to be like you too.

I used to think bitcoin was just like paypal free money apps. That gives a few cents worth playing game applications. But I was surprised that the price went up in just a few weeks and was falling. That's why I was aware of this until I came to claim faucets and bitcoin gambling sites like freebitcoin. Up to Invesments, Hyips Ponzi Schme and many more. My bitcoin exploration continued from bitcoin halving in 2017 until the price boom and ICO campaigns gave me a huge profit.

I first read Bitcoin way back 2012 on another investment forum, the now-defunct moneymakergroup, I thought it's an investment company and there is an admin just like all the HYIP and MLM that I've invested in, honestly it's hard to grasp how it works because not many information is available online, and some of them are too technical, not for someone like me who's used to having a support and an administrator to manage everything, long story short when I become a member of this forum that I learned how Bitcoin works.

I dont actually know bitcoin, I have zero knowledge about it before but when my classmates are talking about it, I thought it was just a game or a gamble game that needs that coin but I am somehow correct because I used to play gambling on my cellphone and I asked them about it, they are actually earning and in that moment, I am urged to learn more about it because its sounds so good, even if we are just student that time we can really earn money by doing advertising and promoting some projects particularly ICO's that has different blockchain technology that is supposed to innovate every transaction here. I am more knowledgable by now about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Thanks to my classmates and to my curiosity too because if I dont asked them maybe I am nothing. I am just a person who dont know about making money with my own knowledge. Thanks also for the opportunity to have this forum in which we can share our thoughts about cryptocurrency and giving information to everyone.

The first time I heard the word bitcoin is when I am playing a clash of clans way back 2014 or 2015, there is a payment method to buy gems is through bitcoin and as what I've seen it is a online or a digital currency which caught my interest. At first I used it to buy some gems and eventually I enter in the world of crypto in which I've tried to do a mining in my computer with a good gpu and I mine dogecoin back then and I tried also to mine a bitcoin eventually. This is my story how I became a bitcoiner right now.

I first heard of bitcoin in 2015 when it was at $500. I bought $100 worth, that was all I had at the time basically, and left it in for all of 2 days. I bought some goods with the $50 something I had left because of Coinbase fees. to late 2016, I hear about it again through a IT collegian. I signed onto my Coinbase account and saw my first transactions, and had regret. Nonetheless, I wanted to figure out Why this bitcoin thing was gaining so much traction.

Then 2017 hits, and I start learning more about the technology itself and it’s fundamentals, and get absolutely hooked. Not only was the price going up, but so was my confidence in its principles. i started asking friends and coworkers if they’ve ever heard of bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, and would try my best to educate and encourage them to learn more about this amazing piece of software.
