Hello Everyone,

I am in the middle of a project related to "privacy" and I wanna know how to promote it!

The project might be available in a month, and i'm sure anyone interested in these fields (security/cryptography/internet-freedom/privacy/free-software/etc..) will very much appreciate it.


So, any ideas on how to promote it?

Post about it where your user-base (people that care about their privacy) may be.

If it's a product, you may also see if it's a good idea to create a signature campaign here (depends a lot).
If it's also related to Bitcoin, post on /r/Bitcoin or /r/CryptoCurrencies (if related to any other crypto, or all of them in general).

Just some ideas I could think off. :)

It will help if you can give us some more details or possibly a sneak preview of what it is all about. Is this connected to email or file encryption or something to do with web wallets and your browser? Is this related to Crypto currencies or privacy in general for other things that you do online?

TryNinja and Kakmakr are right in leading you on a specific field or group of people since the service you will be providing will be for a small target market. Promoting it let say on AdSense where it promotes to a wide variety of people (situated in different areas) wouldn't make sense, it wouldn't easily translate from views to sales since you are like shooting in the dark here. Start on a more specific group where you can find serious clients like what ICOs are doing in Bitcointalk where they are creating ANN threads for their altcoin.

At first you have to make something really great to make whole process easier and see for example how Tor was promoted in past. As it was stated already, reddit is a great place for that because you'll find a lot of people there on privacy related subreddits. On another hand you can also introduce your project on hacking related forums. If your product is really great and beneficial for people looking privacy, this makes whole process a lot easier because they'll promote it themselves.

Based on my experience that I was in a project of a privacy cryptocurrency whose vision was very high, they applied one of the great strategies, forming a community, a large community through a forum only of the project where an Airdrop is distributed, where You can choose the best ones to make publications on social networks, but as long as you pay on time and do not recognize your effort.

The project was in a very good way, but it fell because they exploited their workers and did not pay them, inside the forum they treated the investors badly, they did not accept criticism and what led them to the total failure was never to have listed their currency in an exchange of level 1.

If you comply with what they failed, believe me that success will be guaranteed. It is also a good time since we are starting a great stage of the market, at any time you can take the bullish trend as it was in 2017-2018, you have the conditions in your favor.

Thanks for sharing, even though the project is not related to cryptocurrency but this was a great piece of advice. And i will defiantly take criticism as the project will be open-source.

Just a warning, there are plenty of encrypted chat applications nowadays. A (google) search for encrypted chat or sha p2p chat will give you an image of it.
For your sake, I hope that the project is different / better / more useful than the others, else "just advertising" may not be enough.
