Title: Multi-posts in multi ANN topics to advertise new platforms. Is it acceptable ?
Post by: tranthidung on September 09, 2019, 11:23:55 PM
It is not my first time I saw such advertisement, but I don't know it is acceptable (based on unofficial forum rules) or not.

If one platform, such as exchanges, or crypto currency rating service (that is trash, but just use it as example) makes multiple posts from only one template in multiple announcement topics (of other projects/ platforms).
What they do is adjusting template with link, name, screenshot of specific project/ platform that they want to make post inside ANN topic.

I think of that advertisement post:
- It is not off-topic
- It is not plagiarism because one can not plagiarise his/her-self.
- However, mutiple posts in multi topics with same template should be considered as spam, IMO.

Are there any rules on this among current unofficial forum rules (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0) ?
Or what users can do is only report which posts they see?

That is current issue in Announcement (Altcoins) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0) board.

Try Ninja help me with the answer
22. Advertising (this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc.) in others threads' is no longer allowed, including, but not limited to, in altcoin announcement threads. [8]

Not browsing much on that section but for better insights, can you give some examples?

But yeah, spreading post about that project either by creating separate ANN threads at the various sections or spreading post about it on other's thread is a form of spam.

If they are posting these in other project's threads, then it is probably off-topic.

Report these posts, and if there is a lot, put a reference link in the report so a mod can see what they are doing. If they keep doing it, they will probably get banned.

You can visit that board, and easily find it out or you can ask @LoyceV for list of most active posters last 24 hours (but I don't think you actually need support from @LoyceV).

Thank you, I have never noticed that rule. I updated my topic with that rule which I think is important.
Do you often use report button? There are guides to more effectively report (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5169937.0)

That's pure spamming and It's not allowed. When you see such an incident. Just report.

The culprit would be breaking 2 forum rules all together.
1.  What TryNinja pointed out
2.
12. No duplicate posting in multiple boards (except for re-posting it in the local language boards if it's translated).

I don't think it is right rule to apply. Boards are totally different than topics, you expanded that rule too much. :D
