Post by: princerepon on September 12, 2019, 10:08:38 AM
What is the meaning of Centralized and Decentralized. I know it's a very very old question but i want to know more properly. I really appreciate if someone tell me about what is really meaning of Centralized and Decentralized (in easy way  :D). And what is the different between Centralized and Decentralized Platform. Which one is good for regular people...?

Decentralised is more safer than the centralised but, even I use centralised because of the convenient UX.

Here is a awesome article that can explain you about centralised and decentralised exchanges:

Hope it can help you :)

Centralized is where you don't have privacy for yourself, Decenterlized mean freedom and security. This is simple

A decentralized platform is a platform not controlled usually by the owners of the project or any other people, it is running for example with smart contracts. While the centralized platforms are controlled by the team of owners most likely. So it is safer to invest or exchange in the decentralized platforms.

Centralized exchanges control your funds for yourself so high risk of losing it if there is hack.

Decentralized exchanges give full control of your funds to yourself.

But CEX are yet the better for the regular traders due to user friendly interface and high trading volume.

Decentralized and centralized, to easily understand it, reading a lot of articles would help you.

Cryptocurrencies is the most popular example of decentralization, it just means no one can control it. No body is in the center that control and monitor the circulation that is happening

Centralization just means a body controls it. For example, the fiat circulating a country. The government controls and monitor it.

- Just for clarification, though the Bitcoin revolution is all about moving towards total decentralization, it does not mean that it and other cryptocurrencies who've followed through will always be decentralized. Some, especially those who have long benefited, are benefiting or would benefit unscrupulously from the past backward trend (centralization) would try to disrupt the network distribution that a decentralized platform's functionality basically is dependent on and try to gain some form of control of the network (towards less or discrediting decentralization). For example, some info have been circulating that XRP's platform and node distribution/participation may be more centralized than decentralized.

Hence, over-all improvements towards decentralization can be viewed as a movement from or a protest against centralization. In my opinion, with all the occurrences of abuses associated with monopoly/control of power by the few with no regard of the ripening of the potential of delegation, the revolution's so much like an overly past due evolution from monarchy to responsible democracy in the political spectrum, if we are to relate the history on global finance with world politics.

Nowadays everyone know the Centralized and decentralized Cryptocurrency. If you want to clear example you can search Google, because already many times discuss in the same question so we don't satisfy in this statement. I think two years you are survive in this forum then why you not understand the Centralized and Decentralized platform.

While a lot of centralized website/platforms definitely doesn't respect our privacy(Facebook, Google, and a good number of other big platforms), "centralized" doesn't necessarily mean you don't have privacy. Bitcointalk is centralized, but it doesn't mean it doesn't respect our privacy. I'm pretty sure Theymos doesn't do any unnecessary tracking, but still  use Tor just to be sure. Along with other good privacy-respecting centralized services out there.

I used them both but most of the time centralized was often I traded for. But those exchange platform are on top in the market.
If you want a better safer platform and comfortable, decentralize is the one good for this things. Though, I'm not saying centralize is not a good
platform of course not. Probably, kyc is their difference only aside from that none.

Centralized basically means that something is in the control of one entity, it could be one person or it could be one company but it is under their control to do whatever they want, they can print more of it, they can revert back the transactions, they have full power over that thing which is centralized. Whereas decentralized means, once it is created and out of creators hands, it can't be changed in any way possible, you can be satoshi nakomoto and even you can't change anything about bitcoin which is why people like the decentralized ones better.

Our current economy is centralized, it is governed by the people at the top and they do whatever they want with it, bitcoin and many crypto is not like that, for example there is max 21 million bitcoins and it can never be 20 or 22.

You could get a hell lot of information about centralization vs decentralization. You should have probably known it by now if you would have done some googling.
If you still didn't understand it then just watch the below video which explains in brief about centralization vs decentralization.

From what I understand if an exchanges or trading platform is centralized you have to do KYC or Know Your Client. It means that your personal informations and details are going to be submitted to an exchanges and decntralized is free from submitting any information about yourself.

Here is a good topic to check about the difference:

Centralization means there is an institution that has the authority to regulate while Decentralization does not have a governing body, so if you have a coin that is decentralized, you have independent authority over the coin.

As an example of comparison, namely employees and entrepreneurs, employees have responsibilities to boss while entrepreneurs do not have because they are independent.

Decentralization doesn't apply to finance only, and something can be decentralized but still in control of an entity/person/group. In economy, the term decentralization doesn't really mean, we're safe with personal information nor it is the main goal, as some people tend to think.
There are DEXs, which people call it decentralized but they're not. Who control servers, who takes decisions, etc? Not you!

There are centralized exchanges without the KYC, they're still centralized

We should submit legitimate information on centralized form of exchange like the banking system connected with the government. However with decentralized it has an independent body which has a private and undisclosed information from each costumers who transact trading activities with them.

Who's dumb enough to not give accurate bank numbers. If they don't want to receive money that's fine lol

I believe the biggest problem in the very near future is not which of the exchanges has advantages or which of the exchanges is better than the other or not because governments are implementing regulations, laws and guidelines that will ensure the functioning of the exchanges. So most people will have to use centralized exchanges, and it will even be advantageous because it will greatly reduce the cases where exchange owners withhold people's money, will greatly reduce scam cases. I am in favor of centralized exchanges that owners of exchanges are not anonymous, have physical office and provide good service.

Thanks for the links, especially this one. One of the better threads on the topic. Made me think more about the transition from centralization to the role of society in embracing and making decentralization work for the better. It's a matter of mass adoption and meaningful cohesive participation, I guess. Blockchain has created for the world this great opportunity towards that transition. But how ready are we? How will all these numerous and diverse innovations using blockchain give us clear direction? What if the better innovations are less adopted or most or some important ones do not survive at all in the long run?

To the OP, I think you can find your answers in the above thread. So just a friendly advise, lock this topic.
OP, please do. I hope to see more of this kind of replies to recent threads so I can be reminded myself to use the search bar first before starting a topic or replying to one.
