Hello, Ive been on the same boat when I helped my friend created an eth wallet for his own. At first, I thought It was a scammed page cause it is very different from the very first time Ive made wallet.

It's just that MEW upgraded on a very secured way. Too bad I ended up using the old version too cause when I try the wallet created via mnemonics isnt match the eth address. Anyway, let us wait for someone who can possibly explain it.

Just open up some topics here and dont be afraid to ask a lot of question since youre a newbie. This type of question is what we needed, not a simple one which answer can easily seen on google.

BUMP.

By which way are you creating your new eth wallet. Do let us know by which process you want to create a new wallet. All of them are pretty simple.
There are three ways to open a New wallet.

1-MEWconnect
2-By Keystroke file
3-By Mnemonic Phrase

MEWConnect is the most secure way to create the wallet and you will have to download IOS or Android app on your phone.
The remaining two processes are the same as previous ones.

Its because the wallet you created using the New MEW interface is an HD wallet ( Hierarchical Deterministic Wallet). In a layman's language this type of wallet has so many addresses in it that can all be recovered using the same mnemonic phrase you have.

This kind of modern wallet implementation automatically generates an ordered tree-like structure of private/public addresses (or keys) using a single master seed key(This is what is represented as an easily readable 12 or 24 word Mnemonic Phrase)
This arrangement avoids us from going through the headache of having to back up each and every single private key of every address we have when all we have to do is just back up the mnemonic phrase representing lots and lots of addresses we own.

It also helps improve our transaction privacy as we can easily generate a new address we would love to use any time we want without having to worry backing it up

So you don't have to worry if you try restoring the wallet and you see a new address.
If you have some  balance  of tokens or Ether in you wallet, as you are trying to restore it. You will be able to see those addresses listed at the top

For example when using the My Crypto software wallet for my computer( you can also use any other wallet that supports HD wallet arrangement as listed below)
When i attempt to recover my wallet using my mnemonic phrase. All i have is to click on chose address

An then a list of addresses i would love to use pops up. Here i can select the address i wan to restore.
As you can see, the address with some Ether is at the top

All you have to do is check the wallet address you want to use and the click on unlock and you are good to go

If you want to keep recovering a specific wallet address then you will have to backup it's specific private key when the wallet is unlocked

Wallets that support Ethereum HD wallet arrangement.
Please be mindful of the number of word back up phrases they support

- myetherwallet (New and old interface)(supports even 24 word seed phrases)
- My Crypto Wallet (supports even 24 word seed phrases)
- MEW connect (supports even 24 word seed phrases)
- Exodus software wallet (supports only 12 word seed phrases)
- Parity Feather wallet- Light client (supports even 24 seed phrases)
- Atomic software wallet (supports only 12 word seed phrases)
- Trust wallet (supports even 24 word seed phrases)
- Jaxx Liberty wallet (supports only 12 word seed phrases)
- imToken (supports even 24 word seed phrases)

Caution

1. Always double check the links you use and download wallet software only from official wallet websites
2. Always create and restore wallets when your device is not connected to the internet

The eth add when i try to import on imtoken doesnt match.
I think you got overwhelmed by the many wallet addresses that showed when you opened a MEW wallet. Try to compare the first address that appeared on MEW with the address in imtoken.

You’ve become a Jr. Member today, so therefore you may now edit yout OP and posts images if you consider it will help you to clarify your problem. Just make sure you do not post any personal or private information (it’s not something that happens too often, but every now and then someone slips their private keys onto a post or an image) without being fully aware of the implications.

I think that creating a new wallet using myetherwaller old interface will work but I never tried creating a new wallet using the old interface. It is true that creating a new wallet with the old interface is quite easy even when i'm still newbie at that time. I hope that the op can create a new wallet with the link you provide.

When i open new myetherwallet, i am not get private key only json file maybe it is to prevent people to trapped into phising sites. But for me i think easier to create wallet in old interface. That is why i am not use myetherwallet anymore for now. I only use my old wallet to save tokens.

Im an old user of Imtoken wallet since im always on a transit which its pretty convenient when you do try to look up with your Erc20 tokens.
Its odd that it doesnt import the right address. Are you sure that you do able to import the right key?
