Title: Electrum help
Post by: Bbjefke on September 16, 2019, 04:27:17 PM
Im new at cryptocurrencies but i only need it for 1 time i want to buy something online but bitcoin is the only option.
Today i sended 10€ from bitonic.com to my electrum wallet i copied the recieve code exactly as shown in the app i looked at my backaccount and the 10 € is withdrawn but i still have 0 btc in my wallet  ...
Did i lose my 10€ or is there still something i can do?
If its a lot of work or really complicated i dont need it anymore aint gonna die from 10 bucks but is there an easier way to just make a payment to a site with bitcoins?
Maybe handy to know:
I use electrum on android app (can also use it on pc)
At the start i chose for segwit instead of standard maybe its because of this?
Really new to all this stuff so sorry if it are dumb questions
Thank you in advance!

The problem is from Bitonic's part I would say. Have you used them in the past? If this is your first time, they'll have to verify your bank first. After that's done, you should see a message saying so and also the bitcoin transaction ID in your transaction overview page (https://bitcoin.nl/img/kopen/transactie-verifieren.png)... If there is no TXID shown anywhere, it means that the transaction has not been sent yet (sometimes they group multiple transactions, so it might take some time).

If the TXID is showing, I would suggest installing the latest version of the desktop wallet from Electrum.org and restoring your wallet there and see If the balance shows or not. Make sure that your wallet is connected to a server and there is a green light on the bottom right of the window.

Thank you for the fast reply!
I have never used them in the past today was the first time, payed the 0.01 cent today and the 10€ and i checked the TXID and there it said it still needs to be verified it takes 1 to 2 days.
So i know the problem now :)!
Im still gonna instal electrum on my pc but will i still be able to use the same wallet so i dont lose my 10 euro now?
Its with the seed code right?
Thank you so much already really newbie in these things!

Yes, as long as you have the private key/seed related to the address that you use then any wallet should be fine.

After you install Electrum, choose import wallet and then use the same seed that you use on your phone.

Thank you guys!

I imported my wallet the recieve code is still the same code and i made sure its connected automatically with a server and on my desktop it has a green circle in the bottem right.
So all i do know is wait until my bank is verified and then i should recieve my mbtc in my wallet correct?
Also how do the fees work everytime i put mbtc on it i get less because of the fees or is it only when i pay someone with my coins?
Again thank you so much.

You have to wait for the transaction to confirm and everything should be fine. What site did you use to check the transaction?

Transaction fees are paid only when you send coins to someone. They change depending on a few factors. The more unconfirmed transactions there are in the mempool, the more you will have to pay. Also, the transaction size matters (read this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2848987.0)). You will save a little on fees since you chose SegWit. Good choice!

You should change mBTC to BTC to avoid confusion, so the wallet will display balance as 0.001 BTC instead of 1 mBTC. To do that click on Tools -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Change Base unit.

You should also know that that balance will always stay the same in BTC, but value of your coins in fiat may change depending on BTC price. There is also an option in Tools to select in which currency fiat value will be displayed.

...everytime i put mbtc...
I would advice you to change how Electrum displays the balance and fees from mbtc to btc. The mbtc values will only confuse you and you might send the wrong amount because of that.
I don't have Electrum on this PC but I think you need to go to File > Settings >Wallet and for Unit you select BTC.

Edit: Oops, Lucius had the same thought and was faster.

Where did you get the Electrum android app?  I haven't heard anything about a fake Electrum in google play store, but it's always best to initiate your download from the official Electrum site; electrum.org.  There have been plenty of malicious desktop versions making the rounds, so be very careful where you download.

I've never used bitonic.com, are you sure they are compatible with native segwit (bech32) addresses?  Many web-wallets and exchanges are not, so that may be your issue.

DireWolfM14, OP problem is in the verification of bank account as explained by OmegaStarScream, and I doubt that this is have anything with Electrum fake version. I check bitonic site and I can confirm they ask for "Bank account number verification is required for all new customers" (https://bitonic.nl/faq#verificatie), but I couldn't find any information if they support native segwit.

In case they do not support that type of address, OP will simply have to make a legacy or nested segwit wallet for withdrawing.

Not much is available online but from what I could find they don't support native segwit just yet.

This reddit post is 1 year old. According to it their Segwit status is ready but not yet deployed.

Bitonic has been batching transactions for the last few years :). Segwit implementation is being tested atm. (Including bech32 )

This was also posted a year ago but seems that is the latest info regarding Bitonic and their Segwit implementation.

The deposit address is fine and your funds aren't spent: blockchain.com/btc/address/1Kh1rwSwshKndDsgjJfDbGNn2j32Ydc63Y (http://blockchain.com/btc/address/1Kh1rwSwshKndDsgjJfDbGNn2j32Ydc63Y).

Just update your Electrum wallet from electrum.org: https://electrum.org/#download (https://electrum.org/#download)
Before upgrading, make sure that you have a proper backup and additionally, I suggest you to verify your Electrum (https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/).

The issue is your installed version is outdated and wont be able to connect to any patched server.

What ???
I can't think of any part of my reply that will help an issue with downloading Electrum (is there any past issues with Electrum download page?).
All I did is gave you a link you to the official webpage url coupled with security advice.

Anyways, glad it worked out for you.
