I logged in to etherflyer with my private keys and after months of leaving it logged in, I scanned my wallet today and only to find out that my ether has been moved to a new wallet. Is that my fault as in a friend of mine stealing my coins or it may be from the etherflyer team?
All my other wallets are intact.

After months of leaving it logged in? Isn't it automatically logging out when shutting down the pc or closing the app?

If your friend has an access to your account, it's possible. Another scenario is if you mistakenly enter your private key on a phishing website.

When accessing sites like this or EtherDelta/Forkdelta, it's advisable to use Metamask for extra security.

There is no way that it will be logged in for so long. I even leave my wallet in decentralized exchage but it will be automatically logged out. It is really hard for a crypto wallet to be hacked unless you have share it with someone so basically someone you know did that thing.

Did you log into the real website? If yes does anyone have access to your computer? Also did you mistakenly expose your keys anywhere by chance? These will help you find who's responsible. If these three doesn't check out, contact the exchange for further help but if anyone has access to your computer, the loss might come from there.

I've also experienced problems with Etherflyer, the tokens I transferred didn't appear in my wallet and it turns out they froze them for no reason.
I suggest trying to contact Etherflyer so that they can get access to your wallet who knows they are deliberately safe. Although my experience is very difficult to contact them

The possibility for your case  :

1. You have put your private key on phising site.
2. Somebody are know your private key.

Maybe you remember something you have done with that listed above

it looks possible for your friend to steal your coin as long as he knows what is your priv key.
If you are leaving your etherflyer and you keeps it logged it for months and then it may possible for your friend to see your account already logged it and he was creating a transaction to his address.
As far as i know i have been also leaving my ethereum in my etherflyer accounts for months and nothing happen.

You should be more careful that you might be phishing web so your ETH will automatically be sent, this has also been experienced by me but not at etherflyer.

Most probably you are a victim of a phishing attack. During my early days on crypto, I met with the same fate as you. I entered my private key in the open form which resulted in the theft of my ETH.

Also, don't share your private key with anyone.

Thats was move intentionally we all know that Etherflyer is decentralized exchange if thats the case that your eth was move without your consent maybe its an inside job or a plain negligence from your side sharing your private key with your friend is a bad idea next time you logged in any decentralized exchange take extra precaution use metamask for added layer of security!

I haven't have my money stolen from a dex but I know many DEX would keep opening your wallet unless you import or create a different wallet. They actually save a cookie in your browser and clearing the cookie may make it go. So, I believe it's opening just from the side of your browser and the site actually has no full time control over your private keys.

It will be automatically logged it even if you didn't, if your friend knows your private key then a big chance he's the one who moved it to other wallet. Best thing to do is never leave anything even if it's a decentralized exchange because anything can happen.

Have you try to use the FORKDELTA? you will stay logged in as long as you will not click to forget your wallet.
For me it is not the exchanges who gets the ether. this might be from other reason like possible your friends if they have access on your computer and know the PRIV KEY.

The probability that the exchange is to blame in this situation is zero. Most likely, you showed your private key somewhere, or it was stolen from your computer. I recommend checking your computer for computer viruses.

There is a possibility that your friend stole it if he/she know your private key. In some cases, exchange steal from clients by leaving the platform and make a "hacking" alibi but that only applies on some new exchange. I've been using etherflyer and it losing assets never happened to me.

We don't know the truth. Your friend can steal your coin while you are not logged because he knows your private keys of your wallet. Or the exchanges steal your coins while you are away from your account. There are so many possibilities in your case. But as far as I know, if you are not open your account for a long time, your account will be logged out by itself and you need to log in again to access your account.

Or your computer has been comprimise by malware, trojan or else so the third party people can access your computer without you know. It is difficult to know what is happen to your account but I think your coin was moved by someone else who knows your private keys. I think next time you can try to use Idex.market to trade the tokens because I don't have a problem while trade in that site exchange.

in your case it seems to be purely due to negligence. because there is a possibility that your privatekey is known by others or may have logged on an scam exchang  that has a link that is almost similar to official exchange, I have used etherflyer but I have never experienced a case of losing a number of ethereum.

I have never visited the etherflyer but is it possible to log in there forever same as the forum? did you gave your private keys to your friend? why is it that your friend has been mentioned? it's also possible that you have logged in to the wrong website and a phishing site.
I just don't get it that why you have thought it's your friends fault. It should be your negligence since it is your private keys.

I have used Etherflyer exchange, but there is no problem until now, it seems like you have friends who have access to your private key, this causes the ethereum in your wallet to move to a new address.

Well Rule #1, it is always not recommended to key in or leave your private key details anywhere online, even saving it in your PC posses risk of getting phished/hacked

Else, if the exchange decided to exit scam everyone. Yes, they can take your Ethereum and run

For Centralized Exchange like Binance/Bittrex/Kucoin, never leave 100% of your coins there. Unless you are trading, else withdraw it out and put it on a wallet that you had access too
For Decentralized Exchange like Tokenjar/IDEX, it is much more safer but i won't say it is 100% Safe. Smart contract are programmed contract which technically not "hack-able" but still, always have a safety awareness. You wouldn't know that if one day one get to exploit the code and breach the smart contract

I suppose if it were a phishing site where You've entered your private key it would have more stolen funds, because a scammer would definitely have couple of victims.

How did you move in to there with your private keys? You mean you used yr priv key and loaded it online with the exchange? Never do that. If you must do stuff like that always do it offline.

Can't help you much now though. Best is to leave comments on those address with etherscan and hope for the best. Sorry about your loss but you know better now.

This is the most likely possibility, it's strange that you can leave your account opened for months, but if you do that, it's like letting your home doors opened all night, anyone who access your computer physically or via malware could access your account easily.

Your wallet is been compromised and if you are already thinking that your friend might be the one responsible for it then it means you have no privacy over your PC or laptop, the ETH is gone and its not coming back so just abandon the wallet and get another, this time make your privacy top priority

possibilities of the cause might be one of the following. .
1. You mistakenly leaked out your private key
2. You fall victim to phishing links when browsing the web
3. Your friend betrayed
4. Your PC is hacked either by spyware or malware

I guess that your friend decided that you have abandoned cryptoworld (as there were no movements in wallet for 250+ days) and transferred your ETH.

Try asking your friend if he knows something about that transaction.

You sound as if you already know where the fault came from,your post is already holding your friend responsible for the missing ETH so why don't you just ask him? And before this happened why did you share your wallet with your friend or how did your friend knew about your ETH?

I agree, maybe private keys were entered on phishing site without being notice or you left your private key with your friend. A device that was not log out  can open by someone immediately after you left. No one to blame but you because you are responsible on your own private keys.

What I only see here is that your friend is transferring some ether to the new wallet. You have you own private keys, and you can only access that through that except that your friend also knew your private key. And haven't the exchange send you a warning that some different IP address has logged in to your account? You can trace it by that.

I don't get it why you would enter your privatekey to an exchange, its not like you can't create another account into it. Etherdelta and forkdelta though allowing traders to login with privatekey, you should just create new account and then send your funds there. There may be transaction fee but those are just few coins.

The most tangible reason could be that a friend has your password and has used it against you. Either than that, then you didn't log in to the genuine Etherflyer website. Decentralized exchanges dont have access to your password

Exchange never does that.
During my play here (crypto space), I never found an exchange that took our assets. Be it eth or other crypto. Because the exchange will keep their good name for. If that name has been damaged, people will not trade again there.

I experienced it too, I never use Idex before but 2 months ago I used it for the first time because the token that I was holding listed there. Just like OP, I used my own wallet and integrate it with them. I did not logout because I thought everything will be fine, but 2 weeks after I am using it. All of my balance and tokens were moved out,
so I think everything is possible, they might not do it openly but the chance for them to do it is high too.

I couldn't find any bad reputation about Etherflyer after a few mins of google search so I doubt that Etherflyer would just steal your ethers. It's probably your friend whom you suspected or probably a third party that infected your computer. Because the only way an exchange would steal your crypto is when they are about to exit the game. It that case, your friend stole your ether.

You should never entrust your wallet to anyone, even your family members.

Exchange always wanted to have a good chance working with the traders, convincing them to stay. So it's hard to believe that they are the ones who's gonna wreck up with your assets, not unless the sites have that reputation for scamming people. It's not easy to trace who's going to be the one who did this to you. But same with many other people who replied here, chances that your friend who knows your private key can transfer your ETH.

Other than that, phishing site also have possible if you didn't bookmark the site.

Cases like this have also been experienced by my friend, he forgot to copy his account when he no longer uses the exchange, so now I always do the account when I have finished trading there to keep our wallet safe, because when it happens like this it is very difficult to accuse other people.

It can be anyone, if you have shared some information with your friends, exchange or anyone else, you can forget about the safety of your funds. Transfer all of your tokens to a fresh wallet and forget about this exchange.

Did you share your private keys with someone else? Like others said, you might have entered your information on a replica site and you might have got phished. Also your computer might be infected with a virus, so make sure its clean. I have heard of viruses that reads your clipboard (when you copy something). I don't see any other reason for your private keys to be stolen. I am pretty much sure it wasn't etherfly.

I could be your acquaintances that has your security codes or you have mistakenly logged into a phishing site without be aware of it for that long. Is unfortunate, to retrieve it back might be a mercy case, that is if it is your friend but a hacker might not return back.

If the money was transferred to another wallet that you do not know, the money will not be returned already, somewhere means you lit your private key .

The main cause is access to your wallet address has been known by others, so that, they can freely take the ether that you have and it seems there is someone knowing the private key that you have or maybe you have also entered a site with other devices so, you forget to log out from the site and as a result other users will be able to access the wallet you have, my advice is better if you change your wallet address in the future.

Those mentioned were the possible ways by which your funds have got moved to some other wallets. These days more phising websites which resemble same as the original website are into existence. It is our responsibility to cross check the url as well have a bookmark of the true website. This will help us keep the funds secure.

Are you sure that your wallet private keys have not been compromised? A common misconception among newbies is to believe that exchanges are stealing their money when in actual fact, it is the user who has been hacked.

The security cameras have a memory which can be used for reading the QR code of the private key and the staff of the internet club can use this information for stealing.

In my opinion, that's impossible, exchange steals your ether, and there are a number of possibilities that you need to test,
it could be that you entered into a phishing site, there could also be someone who know your private key, or you activate VPN when accessing your private key.

It is not stolen from etherflyer, it might be hack by someone else. I used Etherflyer exchange, they seemed trusted to me. If you don't log in 30 days, then the browser automatically logged out from your dashboard. But still, you should contact the exchange team. Good luck.

You can give the exchanges the secret key only from the new wallet, which you must create separately for each exchange and transfer tokens or the amount of Ethereum that you want to trade on this exchange to them. Once you have finished trading, you should immediately withdraw all your coins to a secure wallet. This is the only way your funds will be safe.

This is like of strange ! Kind of the first of this kind I have heard . The only way that this could be possible if a result of sharing your keys with a third party either knowingly or unknowingly ! No hack to a wallet without an approval from the owner .

You think too so good about decentralized exchanges. There we need to enter our privatekey. I’ve already lost the ether twice after EtherDelta's trading .I always trade from a new wallet and keep a minimum of ether on it only for commission.

And with the question that I log in forever, Yes, I didn't enter any password before logging in again. I was sent to my dashboard the moment I entered the etherflyer site.

You logged in with your private keys and forgot to logout, that means someone might have accessed your account or someone might have accessed your private keys. Since you are logged in, it is easy to access your wallet which your friend might have done. Sorry about that, since you are the type that don't normally logout of exchanges, henceforth I think it's wise to lock your browser applications on phone or lock your PC where you normally access your exchange account with, so that someone will not ask to access the internet with your phone and ends up accessing your account; if possible learn the act of logging out. And also, store your private keys in a safe place and trust no one.

Please never import private keys directly to any decentralized exchange. Always use trusted web 3 browser extensions like Metamask to get access to the DEX. Sorry to say but your funds are gone forever and never use that wallet again to store ETH or ERC20 tokens. I don't know about the credibility of Etherflyer, I've never used the DEX. 

You actually made a mistake by importing your private key to a DEX. What I normally do is to create a wallet on the DEX and send the tokens I want to trade to it plus little ETH as gas fee or I'll use Metamask to connect to the DEX. Just forget about the ETH, it's gone so move on already.

It's likely your wallet was compromised by someone else who made the withdrawal from your wallet. It's very unlikely for an exchange to steal from users.

This is the reason it is always advisable that you should bookmark the link of every website you make use of, so as  not to get phished. I have never heard or had any issue with etherflyer. So I think the problem should come from the fact that you exposed your security detail to a third party. Unfortunately, there is no solution, just try as much as possible to forestall any other future occurrence. Meanwhile, do not use that wallet again.

I think we have to control our own investments because no one can help us get back our lost money because every transaction is confirmed. In this market we cannot sue and that's why I chose only the top exchanges to invest because they have good security for my account. Maybe possible that in the near future there will be more security for your account so always be careful to avoid future mistakes.

I think that your account has been compromised already either as a result of loosed password, exposed wallet key or the exchange in charge, I don’t know how trust worthy the exchange is because I have never used them, so I would not easily accused them of stealing your fund, it might not really be them, which I am quite sure that you have let your key loosed to people around you and one of them must have been tampering with your account.

What I do not understand is that aspect of moving it to another wallet, the wallet in question, do you have access to it as yours? If you still have access to it and you are not certain of what happened, I think that you should just create some new wallets that are more secured and then you put in those coins into them.

in this case I conclude that the chronology occurs because you access it through a pishing site, this is very dangerous for your assets and can cause you to lose everything.
on the other hand there seems to be someone who knows your private key, at least that person is among your close relatives.

All my wallets connected to DEX always automatically log out whenever I shut down my PC. Check to ensure your wallet has not been compromised so you don't lose a further asset. It's possible your browser has malware or someone has access to your private keys. I will advise you never use that wallet ever again. And you should try transferring some dead coins to that wallet and see if it gets transferred out.

It is highly unlikely. Exchanges with good trading volumes are earning a lot of money everyday, they do not need to cheat their users, they need only a good reputation to have more users = higher profits.

How long have you been using the wallet/exchange? If it's your first time, it is probably a scam exchange/wallet. Lots of scam exchanges exist to steal from inexperienced crypto users.
If you have been using the exchange, it could still be scam from patient scammer...just be careful. Or maye it was stolen by someone else and not the exchange. That someone could be anyone including strangers.

everything still bounce back to you as the owner because if you never let your private key go phishing them your ether cant be moved to any wallet without yr consent bit it might also cae from the team of the exchange as i ont just use any exchange than those that are ok and very pupolar to use .

Our advise has nothing to do to recover your wallet mate. That is obviously that your account was hacked by the hacker, probably aside from that, I think there some phishing site that you clicked on which you didn't notice that your account on it was in danger already, you became
comfortable and confident that nothings will happen bad.

Nothing else can be done to recover your asset. Once it is gone in that manner, you can't recover it. No advice here will make any difference. Just pick those advices and be more careful henceforth. I'm really sorry for the incident, it can be so unpleasant.
Have a separate wallet for trading.
If you won't be trading for a while, move your assets to your personal wallet and don't leave them on exchange, either CEX or DEX.
Avoid phising sites and stay away from new exchanges until proven to be genuine.
Private key should be private.

What caught my attention is the fact you said, you logged in and never logged out, that is to say, there is every tendency that someone with the knowledge of cryptocurrencies have accessed your wallet and not the exchange. You might have given out your phone to a friend and forgot you never logged out and the person took advantage of it. I will suggest you check the date the transaction was made and try to think who you met on that same day, if possible recall all activities. As for the funds, nothing can be done about it.

Most likely someone got your private keys and got access to the wallet, other options for the outcome of events are very unlikely.

I agree, large exchanges will not go for it, they understand that if the reputation is clean, you can earn a lot of money, and this exchange type binance is not why throw you on a couple of Ethereum.

It seems that someone had sniffed your password or your private key.  I doubt that the exchange itself will steal your ether alone.  If they intend to steal in their platform, they will do a massive hack on that platform and declare bankruptcy.  About your friend stealing your ether, if he has your private key then there is a possibility but if don't know then it is the hacker that stolen your token.

This is the problem I have with most decentralized exchanges because i suspect they actually keep this private keys on centralized servers. Asides from Etherdelta I barely use any other exchange. ANyways am sorry for your loss and i advise u be more careful in the future so as not to avoid such occurrence.

Possibly someone else stealing your ETH but there's always possibility that an exchange will do so especially if you are using a third rate exchange but it seems it's not the case(maybe). If you want you can track down the address and trying to find where it got send. But at the end of the day the money is already gone and it's quite impossible to recover it back. Next time when using exchange try to activate all of the security measures so that your money can't be moved easily.

It is almost impossible for exchanges with good reputation like Binance, Kucoin, Idex, Coinbene, Bitrue, Coinbase etc to steal an investors assets. However, just as we have scam projects, there can be scam exchanges as well which can run away with funds and that is the reason why it is good not to trust new exchanges with huge funds.
Also, there can be an instance of hacking attack and this might result in lost of funds. This might not necessarily come from the exchange.

I log in my etherwallet and leave it, but it automatically logged out. I've already logged in my etherwallet many times and even I just close the window, it is logged out already, maybe you leave your account without closing or shutting down your pc while your friend is beside you and got a chance to steal what is in your wallet. Maybe you leave your pc with your friend for a couple of minutes then he got a chance to move your wallet into new. Or maybe your friend has a copy of your private keys. Think of the possible way why that happens.

I see this often happens and this can be your experience. You must separate exchange wallet and main wallet. Don't logged to exchange with your main wallet private key because not safe and you will lose all you coins.

yes i guess someone know your pk or your friend has access to your pc.
because after you shutdown your pc, it will automatic logging out , even if you refresh your page at that time it will auto logout.
i have been hacked before, that i know im enter in web phising,they maybe take my private key.
but after that i always carefully when i want login to my account, and until now i haven't hacked again.

yeah, i think what you said could happen.
it makes no sense if the coin can come out and move to another wallet just like that. so as you said maybe the OP has made a mistake and is on a phishing site or the OP is accidentally giving someone the wallet key.

my advice, we must be more careful and should change your wallet as soon as possible so that problems like this do not happen again.

EtherFlyer is a decentralized exchange, if they are truly decentralized then there is no way that Etherflyer was able to steal your Ethers.
Think about your friend, is he really your friend? Track the Ethereum address and when he send stolen Ethers to the exchange, report him.

Be careful with private keys.  This warning is everywhere.  However, if for some reason you need to enter keys for trading on decentralized exchanges, do not give the key to the main wallet, but start a new one only for these purposes.  Use MetaMask, it will be safer.  I strongly doubt that the exchange team may be involved in the theft of funds, as this will immediately become known, and the exchange will lose its users.

The title of the thread is very vague. But I will attempt to answer completely. All exchanges can steal your ETH as long as they are in possession of its private key. A centralized exchange like Binance, you just have to trust them not to steal your coins because its their private keys, not yours.

While decentralized exchanges can be spoofed and phished by malicious actors and what's worst the actual exchange is stealing from you.

What you can do is always keep most of your coins in cold wallets, away from stealing hands.

That's kind of strange situation. That's why we should not keep our coins or tokens at our exchange wallets.

If you have logged in to a phishing site same name with forkdelta and etherdelta then they can steal your balance there. Dont be fooled with those sites just check for the true website or the true spelling of the website because some of those scam exchanges mimic other legit exchanges.

Decentralized exchange should not steal your ether if they are a trusted and legit exchange.
I don't using etherflyer, but forkdelta and idex are the most exchange i use and i have never experiencing any problem with my balance.

It is not possible for an exchange to take a small amount of user assets, it can damage the exchange's reputation
If you say your friend has access to your account, of course he is the one taking your assets

The renowned exchanges like Binance and Coinbase have good reputation because they keep the funds of investors and traders safe and have no intentions to steal the ether or other form of currency of users on the exchange platform. Since exchanges are liable to attackers and hackers, it is always safe to keep funds or assets in their native wallets where the investor or trader has full access to the login details such as private keys.
