Title: Many ICO / altcoin scams?
Post by: ATSgrowth on September 22, 2019, 09:54:08 AM
Hi, many people are still complaining how many ICOs ended up as a scam.
The cryptocurrency idea is to create a free worldwide decentralized ecosystem. Free for all, for honest but also for dishonest people. It is free market and you should protect yourself before losing your money. You donīt like it? Then you do not understand crypto.

Without any doubt, crypto was created for free market, but don't you think that if almost  every second project that goes live scams people, it is time to think about how we can create a safer place for investors and new people that are interested in crypto?

There are so many ICO scams with the crypto market. That's why your own research is really important. The IEOs are solving a little bit of that problem. Because the exchange listing will be guaranteed with the IEOs. But the exchange listing is not the only thing to decide it scam or not. Because there are different types of scam. But you can expect quick profits with the IEOs.

According the report in the article https://medium.com/@sherwin.dowlat/ico-quality-development-trading-e4fef28df04f more or less 81% ICO turned out scams. This is data from 2018 year but to be honest trend is predictable.

There is positive and negative impact on everything on the world's. So crypto-currency world would not different from it. Many scammer getting opportunity decentralization of crypto-currency. And most of scams happend on ICO section. That's was investors falt, because they didn't look right left when they see a ICO. Greedy behaviour just forced to invest and eventually they lost fund. Unfortunately seems still investors are investing ICO, so how can we expect that we might reduce scammer. ICO is an easy method for scammer to raise funds. But we take it seriously and do own diligence before put our money on any ICO.

yes, the crypto market is wide open for anyone who wants to take part in it and in the crypto industry various attitudes of human behavior. if someone complains about a gift they followed ended with fraud, don't blame them. but self-introspection due to lack of self-research that causes a person to be trapped in a sewage pit project.

What you are saying is right, and we need to understand how cryptocurrency works.
Maybe we cannot accept the scam in the cryptocurrency, but that is what happens for a long time ago, and I think that happened in the other business type too.
We need to protect our money, including the assets we have, and if we take involved in the cryptocurrency, we need to search the good project.
But if you think that it is enough to join in the project because the project will get down, then you can move to the other project.
We need to search for the other project and don't just to invest in one project only.
In the cryptocurrency, we have so many options to invest, so that will be our chance to find a good project.
But be careful to select the project after you find the right one.
Make sure you don't invest too big because it is too risky for you.

In everything, there exists bad thing. So think scam projects are such bad aspect of the good and revolutionary cryptocurrency. It is obviously true that scam projects have affected crypto world. But eventually bad things will disappear. So to be saved from scam projects, we must be aware.

ICO is no longer trusted because it is now a place for fraudsters to raise funds. Do not waste your money for free just to join the ICO, need research for the project you want to follow. Currently IEO is better and more simple and reliable, it's just that if IEO is done in a large market, then the project has a chance of success.

Honestly, I think this is the biggest challenge here in crypto, recognizing and analizing if the project or a coin is already scam or legit. From the start you already know the fact and very big possibilties that you will encountered and experience to deal with scam. The challenge is, how you will stay away from scam and if you can't stay away, how will rise again after loss because of scam?

No matter what we do, there will still be scam projects in crypto space. We can only do our part by carrying out proper research / due diligence before investing in any coin. Many think regulations will wipe out scam entirely, that's not even true. Regulations will only reduce the level of scam. Some projects will look very genuine when launched but the team members might conceive scam thoughts in the long run, thereby not channeling appropriate funds to project development, but for personal enrichment for selfish reasons.

This is a big problem for our community. Unfortunately, most startups are created by newcomers. They are not always scammers but they cannot give a quality product to our community.

If you listen to the news, today statistics are 90-99% fraud in the field of investment in ICO. Not only on the radio but also on television today they openly talk about it. Therefore, investments in IEO on large exchanges are still of interest.

Protecting yourself from ICO fraud is indeed very necessary, but complaining that having been fooled by ICO is very ridiculous, because there is still a good ICO to this day and now there is also a more appropriate choice, namely IEO, so there is no harm either if someone tries to invest in IEO and leave ICO.

About 90% ICO,IEO and etc. is scam including projects which collected enough funds for development. It was like - After token sale token has been listed on some small or medium exchanges. Volume on these exchanges is very low, gradually price of token downs, also no news from the team for a long time. In the end price reach bottom, no news/updates from the team, no volume on exchanges and only spam in telegram chat. I think it can be called scam as well.

indeed there are only a few currently which have very little clarity even some ICOs I feel are not feasible, and yes for people who complain they are a little strange and if they already know the results are not good they should try IEO or something but remember IEO is almost similar with ICO because he might get an unclear IEO.

I agree with you 100% brother, with the rise of innovation (especially within the blockchain community) there is sure to be just as many scams, if not more than legitimate campaigns. The best thing one can do is practice their Due Diligence in order to prevent themselves from being scammed. There were always scams here on the forum, but since crypto is a lot more mainstream than it has ever been, there are a lot of newbies coming to the forums in order to join in the crypto revolution, which makes them targets for seasoned vet scammers.
I shameful have been scammed by a bounty before and even an airdrop. It happens to many of us, novices and veterans.

Precaution is better than cure, yet you can still make mistakes but will be different from how newbies choose projects
1. Make sure the project have real working product or asset
2. Promote projects from well known CEO,the hardly turn scam because they aim to keep their reputation alive
3. Don't bother much with whitepaper, instead its better to spend time on the teams, try to understand what they are capable of, i mean professionalism

yes we do have to limit the failure of the project and the project scam. sometimes projects that have made a well-planned plan but do not get development funds and finally the team decided to stop the project we cannot categorize the project scam. because they are real and most projects like that return the money of investors who have entered and apologized.

and ready for the worst conditions, such as losing money, and many more
remember : always DYOR before buying

When we want the total freedom then we also need to responsible for our spending,if there is no chance for the scammers to make money then they will not survive longer so all now needed from the investors is to stop throwing their cash into all the new crypto projects, only invest if you founds its completely legit.

A lot of people usually not reach wihtepaper because already influence with something that hyped by the project. In whitepaper of each project usually tell us people if this investment have risk and must ask to professional if we not really sure about it. But what actually happen is, people buy it without know anything that they can't do anything if lose their investment. What they aim is short instant profit.

It's a fact that many still don't understand what cryptos' really are. To the new ones that thought of it as an investment that will make them rich overnight needs to study more about it. Crypto isn't just all about what they've thought, it's more than that.

Investing in crypto is risky but getting advice from experts is needed when we want to buy altcoin in large quantities for the long term, crypto always provides transparency with good blockchain technology but remains vigilant against fraudsters because they are very brave to show themselves on social media with upload their photos

I agree that we need to fully study any project before making an investment, but do not forget that many companies simply conduct ICOs to raise money and disappear with money after that, it has always been and continues at the moment, and no one from this is protected, so the risk of investing in an ICO will always be very huge. Now it is best to protect yourself by investing in IEO and not in ICO and then there will be no problems.

I agree that the idea of cryptocurrency is to facilitate transactions more easily and inexpensively and possibly become a new payment system. But with a scammer, people are afraid to become victims of fraud and this can reduce the confidence of investors. But investors should not need to be afraid because with the right analysis, we will benefit from investing in good projects

Nowadays it is getting extremely hard to protect our funds. We need some kind of a third party that would check recent ICOs/STOs/IEOs of their legitimacy to protect investors. Otherwise, people would just give up on investing.

I agree, the main idea/goal of cryptocurrency is decentralization and transparency. As an investor we have the tools to check whether the project is shady or may end up failed in the end. You are responsinble for your own funds, it doesn't matter what the teams project promised to do, you must see and milestones or roadmaps that have been achieved.

Many people complains that many ICO's are scams because they have probably experience failure in the ICO's that they participated and invested into. But mostly ICO's that have failed is due to lack of support and lack of money to raise for tge projects. I have seen many ICO's that has a great potential to success but they cannot raised enough money for their projects which lead to failure.

in 2017 ICO became very popular because many investors were interested in bitcoin. at that time the price of bitcoin and altcoin increased. The decline in the price of bitcoin causes investors to lose confidence in ICO and ICO scams are growing rapidly. ICO currently competes with IEO.
I think it's very difficult to get new investors.

I feel altcoins scams are much worse.  They setup very similar sites or names and very very attractive.  For eg 10X ripples if you send ripples to them.  Or 3X bitcoins if you send bitcoins to them.  I nearly fall for that ripple one.  Can't even blame me too much.  Ripple has been announcing billions of giveaways.  But nowadays my rule is never send anything to any giveaway first.  They should be the one sending and not us.

yep, I often hear these complaints often on this forum. Many people want to make a big profit but cannot afford to lose it.
This is hard to understand, maybe they should take the risk or run away from it. If we want to invest safely, join Binance's lending, we will have a profit of 15% a year, higher than banks now. Remember, there is no security or insurance in the crypto market. We only use our brains to analyze and without the help of anyone. ;)

Lots are newbies, where I can't deny that they are being greedy.  For ICO if the site looks good and the team looks solid, it can fool not just new comers but also experienced users.  One reason why I never tried an ICO.  You really can't tell unlike an IPO where there are sufficient due diligence done.

People are dumb always chasing get rich quick schemes, then they blame others for their choice which caused them to lose the money they invested in an ICO.

The only true way to make money with crypto is to be patient, pick a good project and buy a small amount, then accumulate more with the projects progression, don't drop 2 BTC on an ICO with a good "team" and whitepaper as you never know how accurate the information is.

The cryptocurrency market is basically like other investment markets, the difference is that not everyone understands cryptocurrency. Maybe this happened because the cryptocurrency market is still relatively new but I am sure, for a long time people will understand to distinguish which projects are scams or projects that are good for the long term

The ultimate goal of someone making an investment is to make a profit. All investors in my opinion will think the same. It's natural for investors to complain because they feel they have been cheated by some people at ICO. Because of this, most investors have left the ICO and started with new things that can be profitable. There are only a few opportunities to be able to invest in a good ICO, because many ICOs are now very disappointing.

Every Coin has two sides, so every initiative belongs to both a positive and negative aspect. This is the nature of the earth. So some scam ICO is not wired, it looks a natural process, not all the people are same, there are some people who want to make money by hook or by crook, those bloody people are the main culprit for this ICO crisis, general people are losing the interest of investing in this platform. In early 2017, ICO got huge popularity around the crypto world but some of these scam projects had brought a curse on this platform. Hopefully, this crisis will not sustain for a long time, but we are also partly responsible because we didn't also proper study and take a random decision regarding this issue. IEO seems to be the form of choice for a lot of investors at this time and this is really good for all investors because they do not need to wait too long to sell that coin. I think with what is happening in this market, IEO will be a popular investment form in the next few years so if you can choose good projects then consider investing. Personally, before investing, I always consult with many experts in the field of crypto and always find out information to get an overview of that project.

Yes,,, and IEO coins now really need to be sold straightaway it seems. Binance has been now delisting so many coins and 20% of those trading pairs were from their Launchpad program (their version of IEO).

So I tell you now, soon IEOs even will be ignored if things continue at this rate.

It's too easy to create a token, so fraudulent ICOs can appear everywhere. That makes investors' confidence decline and even good ICOs have difficulty raising capital.
Perhaps the only way is that you need to protect yourself before losing money, investing in IEOs of reputable exchanges is also a good way. Be a wise investor

ICO is a good fund raising strategy which would have been the best till this days but bad people with evil intent came into crypto space after ICO gains huge attention, these evil intent people brings disaster on ICO and investors lose trust in the system, these people are still around till today trying so hard to prey on people on the name of fake IEO projects but people are now smarter, they've pit trust in big exchanges instead

Not scam maybe have lower price after listing, team ICO re working for building coin price back to normal and higher than ICO price, they need time for building step by step with buy back and open working with other platform to make their coin become popular.

To be honest most of people who are complaining are from bounty hunters. They joined a bounty and end up with a scam ICO. Investors will not invest on unknown or random ICO. I agreed with you, investing in crypto is a high risk too, so before you invest, check it first the project, the team and else.

in 2017 ICO became very popular because many investors were interested in bitcoin. at that time the price of bitcoin and altcoin increased. The decline in the price of bitcoin causes investors to lose confidence in ICO and ICO scams are growing rapidly. ICO currently competes with IEO.
I think it's very difficult to get new investors.

Investors are now a lot disappointed because of the rampant fraud, IEO also now does not guarantee to be the best sales but in my opinion only developers and team promotions are the best.
I also see that IEO binance only produces low roi. this is a sign that IEO is becoming obsolete.
Investors are no longer interested in IEO, the lottery system might have caused investors to be disappointed with binance.

Analyzing projects before starting to invest is the best way to prevent traffic jams with projects that don't have potential. Without analysis, investors will be very disadvantaged because the project is not going well.
Getting used to always checking the completeness of the project is a way to prevent investment failure.

Yes, IEO is the latest alternative from ICO, which is a development and still functions same, namely as a fundraiser. Some investor concerns are a bit helpful here, but there are still many projects that carry out IEO on exchange and the team does not provide any development news. In fact, there are still several new projects that hold ICO.

honestly, quite a lot of people are lazy to do the analysis, even though that is the most important point in investment. some people think that it's difficult. Well, that is indeed quite difficult, requires deep accuracy, and requires time. but that is the best thing that can be done before investing, rather than being too hasty.

however, we must be aware that anything is possible in the world of cryptocurrency. even people who do an analysis of a project still have risks in the project. What if I don't do the analysis? they should prepare for the worst.

That's why it is advised that you check carefully the project before investing.

they are new projects that want to cheat. I didn't get an investor. I don't think the new project will fool anyone. the problem is that most of them are scams and failed projects. we will distinguish them from project scams or fail. because there are projects that fail to get funds and there are projects that were created and deliberately to deceive people.

There are many good projects out there but very are becoming successful because the project team promised to much and the investors expected too much.

While this is correct, just admitting that doesn't help with the attitude of new possible investors towards the cryptocurrency scene. Icos were unregulated, and some people don't get the price you have to pay going from the traditional markets to the free markets and now lot's of the people are asking for more regulations because they are afraid that we don't get adopted without public getting protected by regulations.

One of the ways to combat scams is IEO and trusting the judgement of the exchange, exchange might even protect their customers in a case of fraud. But that's just companies doing the jobs aimed for governments.
And it does take away the whole idea of doing icos decentralized via contracts.

Then there are just those people who don't understand the definition of the word scam or how the market works. To them, everything is a scam when they lose money. This is also one reason why people hear about the whole crypto scene being a scam.

Or even if legitimate most project dont survive that long since investors had lost their fate in supporting and investing in new projects. Before investing, one should understand first what the project is all about. You shouldn't just invest just because the project promised high profit in the end of the tunnel because there is even no guarantee that there is an "end" in the tunnel of the project. Also, confirm the identity or authenticity of the dev team and the ceo or the project team itself. Lastly and most importantly, if the offer is too good and too unrealistic, that is your cue to get away from that project.

I believe in a blend between crypto and regulations. For some people who are newbies and don't have knowledge in the field it is always going to be a big trap investing into ICOs. Regulations advantage is that they are protecting people from investing into unlegitimate projects/businesses. But crypto has been built with freedom in mind indeed. That principle needs to be holded if we really want to make a better decentralized world.

I haven't participated in many ICOs in my life, but I've learned to spot the scammy ones. There are certain traits like lack of team presence on the internet/media, lack of usecases and a realistic, working business model are just a couple of them.

Of course, cryptocurrencies were presented and are now being presented with something new, better and reliable. However, not all so simple. Perhaps the very idea of blockchain and cryptocurrencies was originally conceived as a kind of help, for example, for ordinary people, however, the implementation of this idea is a completely different matter. As we can see, far from everyone took advantage of this opportunity. Indeed, there have been a lot of fraudulent ICOs lately and this is very alarming. The main thing is not to forget about the risks and try to study the proposals as much as possible, and then I'm sure you can protect yourself from losses.

A large number of crooks and scammers in the market is a disaster for the crypto industry. But this does not mean that all new or small projects are necessarily scammers. For example, I actively invest in new projects and sometimes it turns out to make very good money. I invest in coins with the Pos algorithm and sell the resulting coins. thus I have passive income. For example, recently I found a new coin YUSRA GLOBAL (web-site: https://yusra.global and web-wallet: http://app.yusra.global). This coin allows you to receive up to 30% of profit monthly.
Is it bad?

I have been with different ICOs before and it's frustrating to know that they only end up as shit coins. As for me, the problem is within the developers and the project itself. Sometimes, lack of effort to advertise and promote their coin even after their ICO  is one of the common problem. The number of scam ICOs are actually growing and investors are actually getting rid of these frauds.

Not good word to say ICO or altcoin are scam with lower price right now, we need patient for waiting an ICO coin back to higher than ICO price more than one or two years later, always have chance with bitcoin price for all of altcoin ICOs, when bitcoin on the top I sure all of ICO coins back to higher price.
waiting for prices to exceed the ICO price is quite good, but we need to choose a project that is currently still growing. some ICO projects out there currently have no progress. waiting for a coin like that to exceed the ICO price I think is a waste of time.

in fact, when bitcoin prices improve, not all coin prices from ICO go up. it all depends on the project in question. look at the team, and the concept up to now, if the coins you hold are still being developed, that could happen. if not, leave. you know quite a lot of ICOs that have become scams to date.

It is true that most of the ICOs have disappeared and that the altcoins have lost their value, but I do not think that - at least for most of them - there was an intention to do a scam.
Most have failed simply due to incapacity and mismanagement. It's called "natural selection"

We cannot really avoid it, ICOs have been here for so long and as the number of the projects being introduced increases, the higher the possibility that most of it will be scam. Some people takd advantage of the independece that was given to them in here that's why if you really want to avoid those frauds, you should be really careful and smart on picking an ICO you would join in.

Although there are scam ICOs and altcoins but not all can be categorized as scam. Some of the altcoins or ICOs not performing not necessarily mean they are scam but maybe will be lacking some essential components required for the ICO or altcoin to survive and become successful. Always, these factors come from the team experience level, the product, the use case etc of the project.

Many ICO or altcoin is not learn with what experience from ICO or altcoin have been scam before, many cases with scam ICO with lower price after listing, listed on shit exchange market but never become announcement for an ICO owner to build their project at the next time better than other scam ICO or altcoin.

Scam or not the ICO project must be based on authentic evidence, it cannot just be based on rumors or FUD. There are several parties who spread FUD with the intention that the price of the token falls and they can buy it cheap or indeed from competitors who want to bring down a rival project. Also in this crypto world almost everything is money oriented, sometimes we don't care about the validity of a project.

I agree, FUD about many scam projects has hampered many new projects in sales. Regulations from the government should be issued quickly to prevent scammers from happening and to maintain investor confidence in the cryptocurrency market. If there are government regulations, then investors will get legal certainty

'If you don't like it, then you don't understand crypto.'
In your statement, I assume that it is possible to deceive each other. If this continues, we can be sure that the future of crypto will not be long. Because people are starting to wake up & assume that everything related to crypto is just fraud and nonsense. Therefore it is better to have a system that screens new developers who want to do ICO or IEO strictly. So that the future of crypto is more awake and durable.

Trust me this is something which I have been posting since long time that we need a verification wherein all the ICO needs to apply before posting the thread and they should be entitled  to post the  bounty thread only if they can clear the verification  process as this will filter the scam project and we can win the trust of potential investors and this will create positive impact for this forum as it will be an additional initiative taken by us.  Because sometimes even genuine  projects are termed as scam by some negative minded people.

Why would you waste your precious time and energy on such ICOs and coins when you have bitcoin and few good altcoins with you. It is good to try new things but not when you are trying to make money and that too in digital world. Moreover, it does not make pretty much sense for developers to put some real efforts when they are scammers from the very start. The safest and best is to go with bitcoin.

Not scam maybe have lower price after listing, team ICO re working for building coin price back to normal and higher than ICO price, they need time for building step by step with buy back and open working with other platform to make their coin become popular.
Scam ICO projects stolen investors money than how they will be re working which project? Please make sense. A lot of ICO's project got scammed since 2017 that's why investors lost initial money. Actually ICO indeed, as per as IEO projects got huge response. I think dead coin/project will be never strong after rebranding. The main reason is project team are greedy and they try to create hype and collect to big fund. So, i prefer you have to strongly analysis before ICO investment.

If the coin is profitable, investors will join and they don't care much about the value because most current projects do not keep their promises. I think investing in any project requires a lot of consideration because many projects do not have any new updates for investors and those are the projects you should stay away from in this market. In my opinion, altcoin is not a good choice for you but if you can buy a cheap price, think carefully.

This market has too many FUD but if you can turn that news into an opportunity then you will definitely succeed in trading.

Take profit without holding for long time, you can join all of ICO and IEO but after listing sell how ever much profit do you get, when price higher 10% better to sell it because you can waiting fro long time price growing up, many ICO never have long live with price always higher or expensive.

Sometimes I feel we don't need decentralization in crypto anymore. Because anonymity is helping the scammers a lot and for their continuous scam, crypto market-facing lots of obstacles to go forward. People are losing interest in crypto. So, to protect a healthy environment in the crypto space, we need regulation for the new projects. And regulation can protect investors from ICO/Altcoin scams.

now ICO has begun to be forgotten. because it no longer provides a good future for investors and project developers. yes, one reason is that too many coin projects are born. thus damaging the blockchain ecosystem which has the aim of making a better economy and transaction. You are right the decentralized system is not centralized. so that all security is in ourselves. ICO has now replaced IEO to create new support through large exchanges. but that does not guarantee the project will become a scam. choose the best project to invest in blockchain. so as not to fall on the ICO scam and other traps.

Indeed, for now a lot of projeck scams. IEO or ICO are the same. in 2019 many projecks died because after funding and listing prices decreased by 90%. in my opinion it's better to stop investing in these two investment instruments
I don’t think you need to stop investing. it will be a very strange decision because many people make good money investing in ICO / IEO. better think what is the difference between you and them? I think you should study new projects more carefully
for now, we can only wait for more promising new projects. I am sure there are projects that are very serious to develop their careers in that field. because of the many scam projects in the past, we can only be careful for now to choose another project or coin. but I think that future projects are not from ICO, but from IEO.

Yes indeed a lot of ICO projects that lead to scam, and can harm the investor, but if now ico've been replaced the IEO project more reliable, because IEO available in exchanger so investors more trust IEO than ICO, and many projects IEO that has been successful as in exchanger binance.
This is not to be argued with you, but in investing in IEO projects also, we have to be extremely cautious too and also be picky because some projects are so cunny and can be very deceptive that they will even confuse the exchange too, and it seems that we really have very few reliable projects that have passion for their real use case other than the money itself, because I can see how low projects are being released by binance in terms of number.

Most of the IEO projects that are often released are from some of these quack exchanges and majority of them have failed, so when talking of IEO also, I think that it is only the one that is coming from Binance and some of these top exchanges that we can really rely on for now, and it is difficult to get them since they don’t often release projects.

there are a lot of ICO scam there that even doing your resarch will still be a chance that the one you join is a scam as well but still i prefer to invest into IEO because there are a lot of legitimate projects out there unlike the ICO still on the end of the day your choice will matter

IEO has provided e a bit safe option for investors but those scammers didn't stop and use these IEO craze to fool more people by paying the exchange for listing to launch their project but after the sale and the exchange hand-over the money to the team then they just disappear. always do your due diligence on every project whether it's an ICO or IEO.

yes a lot of ico scam / fraud here, so we must always do research / be careful when wanting to join a project.

It's only expose because of the long bear market, but during the time of bull run, people are investing even in low marketcap altcoins because they believe on the potential, they got blinded by the good movement of altcoins and like to get instant and big return, and now this results them to being a bag holder as most of the altcoins from ICO have dropped its value and loses it liquidity.

If you they do your funds back than you can't call it scam. This types of project are much more than scam projects. I believe you can join top exchange IEO like Binance, bitmax and gate io exchange. Don't worry to lose your money.
IEO will die after losing hype and ROI.
at the moment I don't find IEO as promising as BTT in binance. BNB's decline seems to be proof that binance has lost the trust of their investors.

Yes it is a lot of ICO that has been a scam so far. Even many investors suffer losses, but if you want to join the ICO choose a project that surely surely, at least you know exactly about the ICO project, and the project corresponds to the Roadmapnya. But now the ICO is replaced with IEO which is more trusted by the investors
Yes, IEO this year's fashion trend, but I do not think that this type of investment will last long. Surprisingly, there are still ICOs that do not look like a scam and will really make a profit. But there are very few of them.

Absolutely true!! Not a few projects that just want to run off the money of investors without carrying out their project plans. Therefore, now many third parties from various exchanges that provide IEO services on their platforms, they hope by making this they can create a calm for investors so they do not hesitate in investing their funds through their parties. And of course so far IEO is safer than ICO, but the project team must be willing to spend a lot of money to register IEO on several top exchanges.

In any case, the market will survive this unfavorable stage in life and begin a new epic. ICO ended, started IEO. Who knows what else will come up to attract investment. One thing I can say is the ICO market had long had to be regulated by law. Maybe this will get rid of fraud.

This can be enumerated endlessly, since scammers everywhere, in all fields of activity and cryptocurrency, are no exception, since this industry has gained great popularity. Therefore, we always need to be alert, because we always risk losing our money.

Dishonesty and fraud is present around the whole world. People will always try to fraud you even if it is not a free market. You can see that in every field and everywhere around the world. You yourself have to be careful and smart.
Short but it's how exactly should be done. The market is full of possible scammers and it's your own understanding that will prevent you to be part of any projects that will only comes up being scammed. Looking for the right ways in investing out might be tough but still doable if you take your time and carefully analyze everything.

Don't let those scammers to take advantage of your money. Take your time to learn things to avoid you up participating with project without real use.

That's right, in the crypto market everything is possible for everyone. Everyone does what he wants. But we are building a better world, right?
Then we are simply obliged to find out scam projects and throw them out of the market, isolate them without allowing them to collect a penny.
The more scam on the market, the less people’s desire to invest in the market.
Want to see Bitcoin at 20k? I want, but scam prevents this.

Many developer's mistakes are done like their project there is no innovation and no ecosystem is useful for its use.
Maybe that's why a lot of projects are dying and ending a scam. Unfortunately, it will exacerbate the image of the crypto itself.

Why would there be cops or judges if everyone wanted to be good? In the decentralized system, none of them exist, and this causes a worse scenario. Instead of running away, we should accept it as it is and try not to be scammed. It is not the fault of crypto that scam projects are a lot, it is our fault. Crypto was created pure, but we poisoned. Now, we run away by denying what we did, leaving it poisonous.

Many complain about fraud at ICO, it's natural, every ico that appears either new or old has lost investor confidence and the chasing of prizes, the crypto market is open freely so we must be clever in preventing the occurrence of sammers, we must find a safe space so investors are safer in playing in the crypto room going forward

Exactly. The most important thing for people who invest in ICOs is to know the risk. Unfortunately, there is no education on how to verify the credibility of the project. A certain solution is the IEO in which exchange checks the credibility of the project. However, it does not verify whether the project has a chance of success. When people learn how to verify the risk associated with the investment, the complaint will end. In other words, education is the most important thing.

indeed at the moment there are many ico scams but for IEO it seems that not too many are scams because IEO is better held at a high volume exchange place and has very strong security so it is not possible if the exchange provides IEO which makes its good name bad.

Right now there are so many projects that scam and cheat their investors. and this is very detrimental to its investors. I am very sure that indeed the role of the exchanges in particular IEO is very influential with the large number of IEOs being launched and giving a list of the bad IEOs available

If you enter a place where freedom is residing like in this crypto industry then we should expect that there will be some people who are honest and there will be some people who take an advantages upon it. This market can be a good cause and full of fraudulent at the same time hence, being wise is all matters in here. There are some ICOs who aren't good that is why we are supposed to check first or make an research with that particular project before engaging with their activities. I think before jumping in cryptocurrency we must know the risk, the biggest risk is losing money.
So before invest we must have strong mentally, there is still a chance to get scammed, especially in ico.
ICO is free, cheap, everyone can open it,
that is different with IEO, it need verify from exchanges, also to listing it need bunch money. But there is still have any probability to be scam.
So never complain, keep move on!

Not just in cryptocurrency but any kind of investments involve risks and there is no other way around to avoid it but the idea of reducing the risk is possible by using some strategies, proper research and good decision making.

ICO's was hyped before the bullish market that happen in beetwen of late 2017 and early 2018 when a lot of new investors keep throwing their money on different ICO's and most of them dind't even analyze the projects concept or the team behind  it. They probably don't have any idea that there are lot of scammers lurking on this space due to it's nature of decentralization.

These scam projects will really pop out of nowhere no matter what generation we're at, regardless if it's an ICO's, STO's, or IEO's. It's either they'll end up as an exit scam or a dead project not meeting any of their promises even though they had successful fundraising. We can't even  trust a word of mouth from these famous people too, John mcafee promoted a scam ICO (https://www.coindesk.com/gold-backed-crypto-tokens-promoter-investigated-by-florida-regulators?utm_source=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.coindesk.com%2Fgold-backed-crypto-tokens-promoter-investigated-by-florida-regulators%3Dlx) last 2018 which is now awaiting court trials. That alone will tell you that you should still do your own research and not rely on news.

Sentiments and emotions drives a lot of what's happening in crypto and we have to play it smart minimize our losses as much as we can.

Knowledge of how to properly store your private keys and personal data, knowledge of what types of scam are and how to identify them so as not to fall into the trap, knowledge of how the market functions and what forces affect it. Forewarned is forearmed.

That's because many projects only want to get the funds they get from selling their tokens without having serious intentions in developing their projects. Therefore, now many ICOs are left by investors because there is no guarantee they will get a profit, even on some websites there are people who sell services to make you an ICO website and also your token for only $50. I prefer to invest my funds to join IEO in several well-known exchanges, because lately they have proven to be trustworthy and also the cost for listing IEO on the exchange is very expensive. From there I can distinguish which projects are serious in developing and which are not.

yes you are right, and that is indeed their initial bad plan. If the developer is serious or professional in their work, they certainly will not leave the project they have built. I also heard about the service and I began to think again how easily someone made a project with only $ 50 and could make millions of dollars from the results of the fraud.

But that will require a huge investment in time and money of each investor and that is something most of them won't do, it is quite common to see many investors putting their money in icos or ieos and when you ask them about what kind of books they have read about investing to help them take better decisions you'll find that most of them have never read a book about it, so while education will surely help diminish the number of investors being scammed very few investors will educate themselves for that end.

I don't think the IEO scam accusations are more than ICO's scam accusations, the difference suggests to join the IEO. Black chains covered the ICOs, so as a majority of the crypto investors I prefer to believe in the IEOs. The scammers can take out the hands even after the token is get listed. Breaking the exchange rules and delisting from the exchanges are the nearest steps to call the project scam.

Talking about ICO scams is endless, because in my opinion it can't be eliminated about problems scam. In the future there will always
be scam projects, and only we alone can overcome them. In a more thorough way choose ICO projects do a thorough research,
pay attention to the roadmap, and follow the community. By doing that all is enough to determine whether the projects are real or fake.
But indeed the practice is indeed very difficult to distinguish projects real or fake, because the scammers are more creative in deceiving
their victims.

it's normal if the ICO get reduced trust from investor, bcz everyone wants to get money/ not to lose money
then, appears an IEO (Initial Exchange Offering), i think it's better than ICO. but i just prefer IEO from binance, most of them IEO works successfully

I can tell that in the future you are going to do really well in this market because you accept the responsibility of your mistakes, most of the investors in this market when they find out that they have lost their money instead of accepting the responsibility they try to find someone to blame and when that is over instead of learning about their experience they keep trying to find someone to give them a reliable advice about which coins could be a good investment, and as you may guess they keep losing money until the day comes when they have no more money to lose.

If you are tired of projects and tokens or new coins that are scams, then switch to investing coins and tokens that exist in the market, choose the most promising, do the best analysis possible. Stop wasting energy on useless new tokens and coins. Now there is IEO, if indeed you are interested in new products then choose a compatible exchange such as Binance, Okex, Kucoin, etc.

I don't think this is true. Why do we judge it without scrutiny? If you know that this ico is scam, spread it for everyone to know.

Agree, there are many ways to make a profit in the cryptocurrency market. Although ICO is now starting to fade, there is IEO that is replacing and might be an alternative in funding new projects. In addition, we can do daily trading and many people assume that trading is one of the quick ways to double our portfolio

More than 80% ICO projects turn out to be scams. I am also holding some shitcoins myself, whose fault is this? Mine, totally mine. You have to be precautious in this business, and not depend on others for doing that work for you.

If there were government regulations, I think we would be less likely to keep valuable coins or tokens. I think government regulations can prevent many ICO scams and also provide certainty to investors

It's really hard to find a potential, quality ICO project because most of them are scams.  But altcoins from ICOs are really hard to survive in the market now.  BTC accounts for most because it is so large.  Perhaps the altcoin season has ended from here unless there's a new trend coming back.
Find a good coin that listed already in the market and do not look for a new ICO project 90% of them is potential scam project . And the other 10% losing its price after the ICO which is not good indicator if you are looking for profit.

Yes, exactly, many ICOs are fraudulent projects and many altcoins too. Pump and dump, that's what they're made for. Good altcoins, as a rule, immediately begin to tradable on many exchanges, and they are already working several years from the beginning of their launch. Their team is constantly in touch with the community and comprehensively improves its project. Such altcoins are at the top of the CMC rating. Coins at the end of this ranking are likely not to be promising.

the cryptocurrency technology recent development was as a result of lack of trust and imbalance from our financial institution. the aim is to create a balance on how money is been owned and control. decentralization at its best. i doubt if the world will ever be decentralized. bitcoin holders are few. many will not be able to own it. the alt coins are to support btc but seems it is not a fair play for all.

ICOS nowadays are mostly scams, while there are other legit ones but it's destined to fail because people lost trust on ICOS so no investors would put that much money on it. The projects cannot even raised their softcap there's no way to develop their project.

If you want more profitable investment, don't get into ICOs because they are dead now and the new trend is IEOs which are better than ICOs because they are efficient because they are already listed in an exchange and there is a bigger chance to make a profit in IEOs compare to ICOs because the hype is better as long as you join into big projects and not to those sketchy IEOs.

It is unfortunate because many ICO projects are scams, so the impact on ICO is very good. Nobody else believes ICO is likely that by 2020 ICO will be abandoned by everyone with the presence of a better IEO than ICO

This is not new to us anymore and I know that we are already aware of it that majority of those who conducted ICO are scam, so be very vigilant if we don't want to be a victim of scam. Better not to invest if in doubt or that you don't have to check whether that project is legit or no, in this industry no one should trust but your instinct and your investigation.

According the report in the article https://medium.com/@sherwin.dowlat/ico-quality-development-trading-e4fef28df04f more or less 81% ICO turned out scams. This is data from 2018 year but to be honest trend is predictable.
Higher percentage of ICO scam above 81% ICOs project listed or not on exchange market are scam, some ICO scam without listing with exchange market and woner have run away without give feed back for investor to get profit, almost ICOs project scam by listing with shit exchange and have lower price than ICOs. How long you hold ICOs coins price still down and never touch how price on ICO time.

Yes, the end of this end a lot of ICO ended scam. They organize them as mature as other ICOS. Finally, investors are now not interested in ICO.
They choose IEO which is in manage exchanger like binance which is arguably safe risk. It is true that Cryptocurecy creates a decentralized ecosystem but the reply is held by an irresponsible person that would harm.
It's good to prevent from being hit by a scammer.

Of course, IEOs are trending now and comparing ICO to IEO, it is clear that the structure and mechanism of operation of IEO is far better than ICO because the token sales are hosted on an exchange platform. This grants the coin the opportunity to get listed on that exchange right after the token sales ends. However, this does not mean all IEOs are worth investing in. It is always good to go by the principle of performing ones own personal research on the IEO before investing.

I think not all IEO is better than ICO. In my opinion, everything depends on the project. There are several projects that still choose the ICO path and they succeed in achieving sales targets because investors believe in the team behind the project. IEO might be a good alternative but if we look at the current condition of IEO, many IEO prices fall after the initial listing

the most striking difference between IEO and ICO is the way it is sold, and also the availability of exchangers. Until now, there have been quite a number of ICOs that have become scams, and this has made investors choose IEO over ICO. However, although many ICOs are scams, not all ICOs have this potential. some ICOs clearly have very good concepts, only the lack of research makes us not see that potential.

caution in investing in the internet is needed now if you are still interested in it. whether it's ICO or IEO, consideration is indeed very necessary to invest now that there are quite a number of risks.

The results of our ignorance is losing our valued money, we all needs to bring more engagement with projects that we are willing to support, don't invest with shitty/scummy projects that will only lead our investment to suffer. Most of the time people who take time studying and researching take a bigger slice of opportunities around this market.

It's not easy to be sure even though their team is genuine because some scam projeck also put the original team and in the end also a scam. now we better not invest in any ojeck if we are not ready for losses. due to the fact there are also many who lose large amounts due to invest in the ICO or IEO project
If you are interested it is better to choose a project that has been listed on the exchange because it already has the original price at the time of sale with a bonus offer besr but when the listing price drops to 90% it's the same. I have several times encountered the project with this and it is clearly detrimental to investors who already believe in investing but are at a disadvantage

This has been happening for a long time, but more and more fraud lies in 2018. There are many fraudsters who easily make a new project every time they finish with a previous project. due to their success in 2017, they made 2018 and in 2019 they still found a cheating project too. This is all because the lack of supervision of the developing project makes them easy

maybe now investors will turn to the IEO project, because it is more secure and profitable. IEO is now a trend and many investors are forgetting ICO. very pitiful at this time, some of which ICO projects are real.

actually it is easy to anticipate investors becoming victims of ICO scams. we as bounty hunters have the right to fight scam projects, such as informing everyone through social media platforms such as tagging, for example "#ICO_SCAM #NOT_REAL # FV*K_PROJECT"  ;D

The cryptocurrency idea is to create a free worldwide decentralized ecosystem. Free for all, for honest but also for dishonest people. It is free market and you should protect yourself before losing your money. You donīt like it? Then you do not understand crypto.

There are really a lot of investors and bounty hunters who complains about ICO projects due to scams that makes to stop participating in ICO projects. Cryptocurrency is decentralized that no one could control it, that is why everyone has a freedom to do everything that they want that other people have been doing illegal activies like scam and etc. But i hope it should be stop because it is ruining the image of cryptocurrency.

2018 wasn't really easy for crypto investors, this is so true. Many people got frustrated after being scammed by different ICOs, some will have hype but yet at the end of the day will scam investors who believe in the project. Sometimes I wonder why there is no regulatory board to at least approve a new project before giving authorisation for token sale. Let's see what the future brings anyway, IEO on reputable exchanges really helped reduce scam a little this year.

Still, the number of such fraudulent is increasing and therefore it is best to not even think about trying out new options. I really don't get why people choose ICOs and stuff when they can go for bitcoin or ethereum. If a person is serious about earning profits with the help of digital assets and opportunities, he should not waste his time on new projects. I honestly suggest to put efforts in bitcoin.

Indeed, we should protect ourselves from scams by doing research on a project that we will invest in. We cannot depend on other people or government authorities because there is no clear regulation of new projects in the crypto market. But with IEO, at least investors can come back to believe that new projects need to be sold at the trading investors' place

This is the reality of this market, if a substantial amount of icos were successful you can be sure that despite the bearish conditions that we found in 2018 there would have been plenty of investors willing to risk their money in those new projects, but that is not what happens, what happens is that most projects are scams and the few that are not are most likely condemned to fail so it is very reasonable that investors have been avoiding investing in icos since then.

The free market provides a good space for fraudsters, but now that fraudsters dare to post their photos and data on social media, I believe there are still many good people in crypto who are honest and trustworthy.

This is an undeniable fact but while experimented users can do this without even thinking about it there are many enthusiasts of cryptocurrencies that are still relatively new to this market and cannot do that effectively, so what we can do for them? And the only thing that comes to my mind is to give them reasonable advice about what they should expect when they invest in altcoins, but despite this advice I'm sure that most will not take it because their greed will blind them to the truth and they will lose money as a result of their actions.

Most of those who know crypto like crypto. But the crypto problem ends with deception of course no one likes it.
It is very unfortunate if it is managed by people who like to commit scammer, so that public confidence in crypto decreases, and this will make crypto prices down.
