Title: Getting too emotional while trading crypto
Post by: WickCrypto on September 24, 2019, 04:51:38 PM
I always feel that it's very intense to trade. I have been trading crypto for two years now, but find it's still difficult to get used to all the constant price fluctuation.

I decided to write an article about this topic, including solutions to make sure your trading becomes more rational: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@wickcrypto/an-emotional-guide-to-crypto-trading-why-paper-trading-is-useless

For example, using some simple tricks you can remove a lot of the emotion out of your trading. I trick that helped a lot was as simple as changing your color scheme in Tradingview. I don't think I am allowed yet to post pics on this forum, but you can check it out the big difference here: https://steemitimages.com/p/EEEoA8oLaAxsTkPYAARp78o5cJA1o6Chv9x98TzCFT6v5J3pxJNE2bCkuMwZesHWaA1xiTWjfTgQfvzPnUu5b8eNrotvovE7v8GuLGCTSFuEfDitKRY1iigMYXuSW2fQYCvzWNtykPzSY12JwNUAA?format=match&mode=fit&width=640

What do you think? Do you have some more tricks you use against these emotions?

Also, it was the first post I made on Steemit so far, I'm very open to hear any feedback about it!

Color doesn't change anything though but I can see well with green and red candlesticks. The trick should you consider are the trading system not the platform colors. Emotions usually will ruin the judgement whether to buy or sell when sudden changes to the price. Today the price drops and when it hit the stoploss, they end up setting up again or sell in order to buy back when it starts to bounce. Personality of a trader is a big factor.

Oh personality is a huge factor! Not to mention the discipline you need to keep going when you are making some serious losses (a time that will come). I'm surprised you feel that the colors don't change anything, it made a big difference for me personally

It doesnt matter on what kind of set-up would be using.I remembered on using that plain white and black colored candlesticks plus that having no background on an mt4
but those are the times when i do trade up with forex. Simple and clean from indicators but you can still able to read up when you do put up imaginary support and resistance and trend lines.

So far in concern with emotion it isnt a new thing yet we are dealing with money here. Its normal for a human being to react and being disturbed on what we are doing.
If you dont know how to handle up your emotion then it will cause sudden change up of decisions that will heavily affect your trading.

I would like to disagree with you on this part of your article. Too me colors on trading charts cannot really be labeled as for "pro traders" or not it really boils down to personal preference of each trader, the more they are comfortable with their own chart the more they'll get used to it. Like myself I'm more used to seeing green and red bars on my candlestick charts since it is what I am used too. Other than that your article really has no solution on avoiding emotions overcoming with your trade, you just basically described each common emotions but not how to overcome it.

I typically just force myself to become extremely focused while trading and remove any unnecessary things so that I'm not overly distracted by things that don't matter on exchanges, such as a trollbox when it comes to Bitmex and flashing colors and lights as you said. You really don't need a lot of extra features when it comes to trading crypto (or any asset for that matter), and you also be able to recognize FUD when you see it. There's a ton of stuff out there that's just done to make you become emotional out there and enter bad trades, and if you're actively trying to filter it out then you won't be as affected by it.

Colors are just giving an additional attraction but not really it affects the market price, buying, and selling. We consider this as additional features that help traders to keep calm but not in a way that it could help to become profitable or whatever it ease. But I feel that it is not necessary we have to see in any exchanges cause the most important is to have a good market volume, we earn from there and we become successful.

I dont get it. I am just seeing the same thing with both images.
It is just light and dark.

I have a different attack when emotions come in.
I take my hands off the keyboard to avoid making a mistake by just putting numbers to get back what I lose.

Standing up from my chair going out to my garden and just looks at all the green plants. Somehow it gives me a good feeling or calmness.
Comes back like a new man again then trade accordingly. Maybe we do have different point of views about it.
I love looking like it like gambling as always. Same thing I does when I am losing a lot.

What the OP is saying is that it makes a difference to many traders and I agree with him because in my case I prefer black and white, for some reason I feel more comfortable with black and white may be because I wear glasses because I have vision problems and I can't see the colors well

I get more comfortable whenever I use Stop Loss and have back up funds on paypal or my bank account and USDT so that if I have any losses I can recover as soon as possible

There is really no technique for it but just control.
Once you gain control of your emotion or let us say you got so used of losing in every trade then there might be the time you had overcome it.

Experience mostly is the key to it. I dont have much knowledge in trading like the types of it for I do it manually but I do have the experience and now I can make some good decision.

Changing the colors on your chart won't make a difference. ;)

The most important thing is consistently employing a trading plan, particularly stop losses. If you always have a plan, trading becomes second nature and you can start to do things almost in an automated way.

The other thing is focusing on the higher time frames, daily and above. The lower time frames have too much noise and trading them is a good way to get chopped up. Zooming out and seeing how small those hourly moves really are can help.

You are really creative for your work, I admire it. But for the crypto market, we shouldn't trade here too much.
I am familiar with professional traders who seem to be hard-pressed with their emotions but they still lose money because of the adjustment of the market.
I realized that, no matter how excellent we are, we cannot avoid the pitfalls that sharks set. I encourage you to apply this method in stock trading, it will make you rich!

Perhaps, changing the color of the chart will help some people, but I don't think that will work for me. Although I prefer to choose the black color as a background, it's only to save the monitor power and reduce the brightness in my monitor.

The thing that you should do to prevent becoming emotional is by controlling yourself in trading so that you can think without a hard feeling. You will see the chance to buy or sell or just to analyze to find the coins. You need to learn how not to panic if the market is moving to an unexpected position and you can prevent the bad situation that might happen later. There is a lot of things you should do to prevent from getting too emotional than to just changing the color of the chart.

I do mention specific things you can do to overcome it.

- Don't hold your trades during when you're asleep
You can, just set stop loss when you tend to sleep or leave your trades. Just make sure you set it up.

Quote
- Change your colors to not encourage emotions
What do you mean by this? Emotions are always getting our way regardless of the color presented in the chart or not. It is up to us how to control our emotions.

Quote
- Don't deviate from your initial sell plan by suddenly increasing your sell orders
That's true. Stick to your  plan and never change it unless you did not set stop loss and you'll gonna be liquidated.

Quote
- Don't trade when there are no good entries but instead use your time differently
That is why technical analysis is available, for us to determine a good entry and exit point. Buying and selling btc and other coins needs a good timing.

Quote
- Read linked articles to get more knowledge on the topic of emotions during trading
I can't blame traders who felt different emotions during the trades. There is what we called a self management. We can't totally ignore those emotions you have mentioned in your article but we can control it by setting up in my mind that Trading is a risky endeavor and we should be ready whatever the outcome is.

Emotions are always sticking with the trading activities of most traders but if they could ignore it then they might get more profits sometimes loss too.I am not having much strategies to avoid it but having a particular goal price to hit will help us to be relax while trading when it didn't reach then just be calm and wait for it to happen then we can able to sell it for profits.

Well experience does have an important role to overcome emotions, but each person has different characteristics in emotions. I myself have quite a long experience in trading but sometimes it is still difficult to control emotions but my friend who is still new to trading is able to control emotions better than me, I think people have different traits.

It's hard for traders to ignore those emotions, it seems like you have a trick to avoid emotions better than @OP. I hope you can share here, maybe i haven't known trick. Because sometimes I still experience emotions when trading or losing.

Its just the basic rule of trading don't sell your cryptos until you see profit which surely work for the long term traders,by using this we can ignore the trading practices until we reach our destination but for the day traders nothing could be predicted or ignore they have to live with it since its more like they are gambling while doing trading too often.

Perhaps if it's still too difficult for you after all this time, you should seriously consider taking a break, if not completely just stopping it.

My suggestion? Earn in crypto, as much as possible, or choose to have a portion that is always converted to crypto. The formet is preferable, that's kind of what I do now, and then you only convert out what you need every month to pay bills and of course spending money.

It's a different way of trading, in a sense, you're just always "buying" except because you earn in crypto, you just get it direct, no loss to fees and commissions, and you're not actually committing more than you can afford if you always sell enough to live.

I believe you need to keep your mind clear and stay with your strategy, anything happen just follow your rules. Everyone has different method to control emotion but they have the same answer, " stay with your strategy never change it ". Because of that many people leave market after replace their order, as long already set stop loss and take profit point just let it go. Never follow market every second it will make you crazy.

Indeed, before trading, we always need to keep our minds and emotions moving at a steady frequency, not affected by any market information or images, and of course, each person will have a different method to make their mind independent and not emotionally involved. Following that action is as you said, setting the numbers needed for our portfolio, profit and cut losses, then go back to normal activities and stop thinking about it, this is always a very important step, if we don't set up these issues, our emotions will be like a ticking time bomb

I would personally say Paper trading is somewhat useful

I understand those emotions compared to actual trading involving large amount of money

but what makes it useful to me is that, you could actually do simulations on your plan/new trading techniques without sacrificing/compromising your funds and doing it in an actual trading platform compared to testnets.

Building confidence is much more viable paper trading is your friend

being emotional when trading is a sign that we don't have good planning,
A professional trading always has more than 5 plans with many possibilities, and because crypto is very volatile, I think 10 plans are really needed,
such as make SO and BO more than 3 layers, installing alarms, anticipating the market going down and up. etc.
understand this and our emotions will be controlled.

On days like these we are all too emotional with our trades, I wouldn't really know what to do with myself on these days if I was new here and I still don't know what to do but just wait even after 7 years of bitcoin. I guess it is just a personal trait, some people are more calm than others and some people are just more emotional and indecisive. It is not just crypto for me though, I am excited and scared and hyped about everything all at the same time which is a bit emotionally draining but at the same time it is giving life a color.

If you can afford the trades then you can just keep trading them the way you want without worrying about what will happen and just have fun because turning it into some machine like deal may end up making you more profits but your life will be miserable.

Lol, I am so ashamed of myself to confess to you that I am now a bot fan also because of the way I have been attacking Bot services but I never knew that bot could be so wonderful, I hated Bot because of the last experience that I had with the one I used for my Forex trading, that bot really messed me up so bad, but I was told that the company I bought the bot from was a scam company which is why I fell a victim of them, and since then, I never wanted to hear the word BOT again.

I have all been against any bot discussion, but will all these price fluctuations that have been making it difficult to trade, I ended up listening to my friend to try one which I did and it eventually worked perfectly fine. It is really stressful to trade manually this period, although we still cannot completely rely on Bot but I think they deserve to be given a chance to prove their worth especially the one by a good company.

My own simple trick is to buy whenever there is a major dip and sell when the market recovers from the dip. If the price continues to dip, you keep buying. If the market continues to go up, you keep selling off some of what you accumulated in previous dips.
You should always have some funds reserved in stablecoin for buying up the important dips.

Colours really mean nothing in platforms, just like age is  in a genuine live relationship. I dare say that the black and white colours on the candlesticks are by default. Although other colours (which can be twerked) hold more fascination than that of the default setting. In the same light, I think the easiest way of getting a firm grip on trading is to control one's emotions.

I have worked for a large corporation (In the top 5 largest eCommerce company in the world) and one of the biggest changes they made was internally to move all conditional Excel formatting from standard red (low) -> green (high) to shades of blue. This made a major difference. If you apply conditional formatting on a column with 10 numbers, one will always have the bright red (reads fear, panic, disaster) and one bright green (reads optimism, high performance). However... maybe all 10 of them should've been green and they're all good numbers.

This little anecdote applies here as well, humans have an immediate interpretation of colors. If you see a 3% candle stick, bright red, staring you in the face - naturally you will feel a slight panic. Black and white candlesticks can help you to look at the bigger picture and see that it's still far from a support zone for instance.

Its much better to avoid bad news than to become emotional and lose your money. One should have enough knowledge to understand the situation of the market. Just invest when feel price is affordable and little risk of lose will exist around better make yourself strong investor so no bad news would effect your determinations.

Relax is the best solution to reduce the emotion while trading crypto, and you will find that it is better to leave the market for a while. You can do anything you want to release the tension in your head and your feeling. If you can go to sleep, then it will better because your body needs to get rest so after you wake up, you will feel fresh and you can continue to trade. But before you get rest, you need to close everything related to trading so you will not get a negative result when you wake up.

I think if we take away the feeling of making too much profit in a trade, it can help our emotions better. The anxiety most of the time is because we are losing heavily. If profit is taking out from our head, the whole thing becomes like gaming and fun. It will look like demo trading in  our eyes while we keep riding on our strategy.

Our emotion was already part of being an individual traders in any of the exchange platform.
We should only use our emotion in the right way when we do the actual trade. Because if we become emotional
when the price dump quickly for sure it wouldn't help us to recover our losses.

for advice, trading should be able to implement trading that is very relaxed, you trade at least have to do long-term trading because if you trade always use emotions then you will find it hard to get profit, indeed the most difficult is to control the emotions you have.

As a trader, you will experience many emotions. You will be nervous that you will make mistakes while under the extreme pressure of probable huge losses — the fear of being in a trade that does not fit your trading plan. Now the emotion you are supposed to feed off is that of excitement. If you lack conviction then you are probably in the wrong trade, well according to your trading plan. You never want to find yourself getting greedy in trade. This always ends up in your trading using all the wrong mechanics, and you end up making unimaginable losses instead.

Our emotion was already part of being an individual traders in any of the exchange platform.
We should only use our emotion in the right way when we do the actual trade. Because if we become emotional
when the price dump quickly for sure it wouldn't help us to recover our losses.
Emotions will keep us away from deciding the right track to follow, you need to have a better understanding from each position that you will take, the moment you allowed your emotions to undergo the next thing you will noticed is losing your investment, there's always the right place in each moment that you need to follow. Make sure to gather every information that you needed before starting your investment plan inside this market.

I have switched to crypto bot trading and just monitoring the process and make some adjustments from time to time. I think nowadays it is impossible to daytrade manually and stay good-tempered.

Surely, the bot will be a great help here, but you should not always rely on them. Day trading is always a stress, so, probably, it is better to change the strategy and get involved in holding, choosing the most promising cryptos. However, even here, the stress cannot be avoided, especially when you get up in the morning and see that your tokens and BTC lost at least 15% of their price.

when you trade in the world of cryptocurrency and you get very high emotions and cannot control your patience then you will only get a loss because surely you will easily be affected by the bad news that exists and do not have high confidence.

Well this is a good point. There is a lot of FUD in the crypto world, and this is inherent to the way the process is designed. Exchanged only list new coins once they reach a certain volume, coins with no trading volume are not interesting for exchanges as they earn money on matchmaking traders. As a new crypto company, you are likely to get a big boost in the value and worth of your coin if you get listed on an exchange.

So what do they do? You guessed it.. They provide a lot of fake news. First they convince you massive great updates have happened, everybody buys. Then they convince you it was all fake, and that it's complete shit, everybody sells. And repeat. This fake news causes people to buy and sell their coins, therefore driving up the trade volume and increasing the likelihood of getting listed.

I think there are three logical steps.

First, you will get screwed over. You buy the news, and sell the dip. Welcome to crypto.
Second, you will start to understand how FUD works and try not to get screwed over by it anymore
THIRD! You understand it soooo well, that you can actually use it to your advantage! You sell / short when it's at the top, or buy / long when it's at rock bottom. This is when trading starts to become very interesting.

Yes you will have to control your emotions in trading as a good trader knows how to handle himself in even a worst situations but those who are not having any control over their emotions so they will suffer lose after wards. We only should know if the market is dumping so we can simply hold and wait but if market is getting green we can sell it to trade profitable.

When it comes to level of stress then I would say day trading would really have much more yet you are engage on an active state of buy and sell on minimal margins unlike on having a simple hold for future gains without stressing too much on trading activity.

Yes,stress cant be avoided that's why you should know how to handle up your emotions and discipline out carefully on every actions you made because

Very useful article @WickCrypto! The thing that most people who undertake the trading endeavour don't understand is that managing emotions is a core factor of being a consistently profitable trader. Technical analysis and risk management are the other two factors of the equation and if you manage to get these three right you CAN be successful!

I recommend reading psychological books. They are really helpful to understand the thinking processes you go through while trading and not only  ;)

Getting emotional after some losses in Trading is normal, but getting too emotional is not, because it will affect your whole performance when you are trading, you will just experience more losses if you are not going to embrace your failures in life. It is important to know that we can't always make profits in Trading, we can't assume accurate results, everything is unpredictable, but we always have to recuperate our losses by not giving up.

We need to encourage ourselves to finish what we started, failing doesn't mean you are not good enough, failing means you are trying until you became a better person in Trading.

A good time management and money management would surely help you decrease the chance of getting mad and emotional ... that's what I experienced so far, I had told this a lot of times by the way .

And Sometimes you'll think that the right timing alone is the key in trading but yeah in that 'timing' there's a lot of process called analysis .. which I guess mostly missed that point leading to a consecutive losses.. frustration.. making another deposit aaand that's the circle of getting too emotional to make money quickly through trading which it's not right.

Everyone should get used to have some bad day losing in trading.

Actually it's not only about crypto, trading is itself a battle. A battle between you and your mind. You have to think rationally and plan before executing your moves efficiently in order to get desired results. The moment you let your inner emotions play, your survival in this market would become almost impossible. This is the sole reason why despite of a lot of traders entering market daily, only 3-5% traders are the ones who are constantly making profits and rest of them are either on break even or just blowing away their capital with no good. That is why sometimes some people say that paper trading can help but actually emotions are always involved when it comes to trading with real money.

Doesnt work for me.
Maybe it depends on how people view things.
But how did you end up making this kind of solution for you?
I have been trading a lot before and you cannot just prevent emotion overflowing when you are in a good trade and also in a bad one.
You get greedy or you get blinded.
Never did I took any suggestions to control it for there is really no way I can.

Well, we can't do something about it there are people who can't manage their emotion and it is more likely inevitable to happen especially in surge of our emotions. For example we were enjoying too much of getting profit or maybe annoyed of getting lose all of your capital. To lessen this possibility we might risk only the money we can afford to lose just keep out of getting engulf by our emotion. We cannot fully exterminate our feelings upon handling our trade but we can somehow prevent it.

I think the most common factor to control emotions in any type of trading is to pre plan the trade first and manage the trade as per plan only. Suppose you buy Bitcoin at $8K and take risk till the price $7500 and target your profit at $9k so whatever side is hit, you will always be prepared for it. Even if BTC crosses $10K it will not make you regret to be in trade as you had already meet the target. By planning a trade properly and execute it as per plan makes you a  professional trader.

You should train yourself to deal with it. With books or articles, you should explore appropriate ways and apply them on your own. Because being emotional prevents you from doing the right analysis, which is one of the main reasons that can cause loss. Even if you have many years of experience, you can make them useless by being emotional.

This is very well said. Having a plan like this and NOT deviating from it is the key. You need to know before you start the trade what you're willing to risk and what you're going to take out of it potentially. If you place the buy without knowing your sells - you are in for an emotional ride..

It's a natural thing that our emotions will really react to the things or decisions we do in life especially if money is directly involved. But with crypto trading, it's very important that a trader should be able to control his emotions and if he can do that, there will be high chances that he will trade successfully and make good profits after trading.
Definitely, emotions can't hide within yourself but you can control it. There is emotion involved in every situation and so on trading cryptocurrencies but a trader should know how to cope up with these challenges and have the high emotional intelligence to manage crucial instances. Self-awareness is a must when trading especially when you are a full-time trader, always look at a bigger picture. And self-regulation on handling your thoughts in pursuit of long term goals.

With those plans, I think we can follow the market everywhere the market wants to go. But the most important here is controlling emotion which not every trader can do. When you can manage your emotion in trading, I guess that it will easy for you to solve every problem you might get in the future. But to control emotion will not be easy as it says because it needs strong power to do that. You have to realize emotion will take part in the trading.

And it's really effect on traders when they lost money or profit lot of money. Sometimes i give me a break from trading to over with my emotion. emotions do not belong in day trading. It is already stressful enough, and the computers and systems analyzing charts do not have emotions like you do. So if you are crying after losing some money, just remember the computer doesn't have feelings, so it will have a big advantage over you.

I don't understand how the chart on the left screams panic while the white chart calls for zen. I guess it's also a matter of perspective and instead of tricking your mind to be so presuaded by COLOR SCHEMES why don't you just train your mind to be more aware and be calm by itself?

I feel like resulting to changing color themes and all these are cheap tricks for the lazy mind. But thats just my 2 sats..

No, emotion will belong to day trading, and even the feeling will become too high in the day trading. Imagine you search the right coin to trade, but you cannot find anything good even if the market has a good moving That will make you stress and you cannot think clearly so that will impact your day trading.

I already got that experience before, and I admitted that really annoying for me to find the right coin. But later, I realize that I need to calm down for a while so I can analyze and search the coin. After that, I think I can always calm down in searching for the coin, although the coin cannot give me a big profit, it will be okay for me.

I say do whatever you can do give yourself the best chance to trade without emotion.

It's just his opinion and some people and some scientists will back it up. You know there is a big reason why hospitals use only a certain color, and why in psychiatric institutes they also are careful with color schemes. Why is the world's favorite color blue? It is just the way our minds are wired by our world and how we view it.

Our brains are chemically reliant after all. We can't just trick or persuade ourselves if a chemical is affecting it.

Get that point and soon you'll be able to act just like how bot's doing. Emotional stress brings bad things to happen with your trading activities. Don't bother to continue if you don't have the right mindset before jumping inside the market. There's nothing left for you aside from hoping for luck to take its course and let your position to generate profit. You can trick yourself by being optimistic and continue to turn negative situations into opportunities to strike back to continue surviving.

It is devastating if things didn't go in our way sometimes, that goes the same when we are Trading, especially if we are expecting a good result based on our analysis. What I'm trying to say is that our emotion is always involve in Trading, it is hard to make decisions if you can't feel a single thing. I know how frustrating it could be if what we are predicting didn't happen the time it should happen.

Like these green candlesticks you have mentioned, expecting greens that turns out red is a total disappointment because it means goodbye profits for that time.

Trading for me is a very challenging job and it can get a little emotional whenever we see the price that changes almost every minute and that you really need to keep an eye on it every single time because of you don’t then tendency is you either win at the end or loss instead.
I think becoming less emotional while trading can be hard most especially that there is money involve but I would really think it can help you big time if you don’t let your emotions control you because it can only result to bad outcome. I think in trading you have to focus more on understanding how you can go around with the market.

This is key. I mylself try to work the same. It's difficult becausee too many situations on thee market. But without order nothing changes

As a human being, emotions are naturally intact in our limbic system, and "limbic system are involved in motivation, emotion, learning, and memory" according to Wikipedia. We can't escape our emotions in any situations either it is positive or negative, for example you lost a big amount of profits in Trading, your mind would react to this and your brain will gives you stress chemicals.

this is when Emotional management will take over, because continuing trading while having too much stress in your body will just make everything worst.

If we are a newbie we cannot guarantee to withstand our emotion especially we see the market is falling and our money is slowly vanishing, the actual scenario is different since there are so many factors that can make us feel afraid on the current happenings that's why before tradings we should come with 100% ready and always stick with the current plan and learn the stop loss strategies in emergency situation.

Yes, it is true that we can't avoid getting emotional when trading because there's money involve but the point is how are you dealing with emotions when gambling that will not affect your decision making and what are you doing to maintain good temper and make sure your decisions are on track because if a trader gets too excited or frustrated with the market price going down then we tend to see FOMO or panic selling of coins.

Trading psychology is also factor in decision making amd that's why I keep reading different studies about how I will not get carried by my emotions and also how I will make better decision. Always remember that we can experience losses if we will panic while trading.

As a pro trader also, we have also fallen a victim of emotion, and the only different between pro traders and newbies is that it is not as often as newbies does. Trading with emotion can sometimes be good though, because it helps us sometimes to quickly get out of trade when we have made the wrong choice of investment or trade, but making it get involved in our trading every day is what is very bad for us.

If we are able to control our emotion, we will also be able to control our greed level which has been the major factors to why many people have actually lost their trade many times. Sometimes we cannot naturally control our emotion, and Because we are humans with feelings, that is why some tools has been created to assist us in having control of it.

Being an emotional is not recommendable while doing trading because it will destroy your trading momentum thats why you need to control your emotion for making a decision.
Thats why you need to plan your trade and trade your plan if you want to sucess in trading.

For me, getting too emotional while trading cryptos is one of the hardest enemies of a trader.  We know that we can't truly control our emotions, but we can practice it. Why one of the hardest enemy of a trader because you are fighting to your self/ emotionally and we all know the factors that can happen if you are getting too much emotion while trading, you can't focus, losing some momentum, can't decide well and can't execute well your plans, etc. :)

Being too emotional is of all things, what you need to avoid if you're gonna enter crypto space. The market's movement can sometimes be so crazy and unexpected that it might trigger you to panic because of the cryptocurrencies price that moves up and sometimes very low. Now we know that we can't control what happens but we can control how we react to things that are happening, and even if we can't control the crypto space's movement and situation, we can still affect the market's movement through any impulsive decisions we could make out of being too emotional and being swayed by it.

Of course, every trader experiences emotions because of the results of his activities in the cryptocurrency market.  It can be either good emotions or bad ones, but I’m too annoyed if I have unsuccessful results, because I’m just starting to study trading and use only a small starting capital to increase my experience, which in case of loss is not too noticeable for me.

This is we experience of being too emotional while doing trading crypto. The best move that we can do is to focus on our goal in earning, if letting too emotional in our system we ended up losing money in crypto. Well, by that starting only small capital could also help to experience the process in trading when endure mistakes the next time you know how to avoid it.

I tried using the way you said it but it didn't really help me in the long run. I have really changed for a few days but the mood of the following days has brought me back to the starting line.
So in my opinion, we should practice mentally for small trading times. We should practice more before doing it in large amounts.

Crypto trading will not work under the basis of other guidance, because the prices of the coin will change quickly. So we need to practice with small amounts and it will really help us to get more awareness about trading activities. You will make profits on the basis of experience you have and choosing the best coins in the market.

In order not to get to the influence of emotions, forcing us to do rash acts on the cryptocurrency exchange, we must strictly follow the trading plan. To do this, you must clearly determine the trading approach in order to know exactly in what time perspective you are going to act. After all, what you choose: intraday trading, scalping, medium-term trading or long-term investment will depend on your psychological attitude, determined by the target levels on the chart.

Emotion is the king whether we like it or not, people trade on fear and excitement. Trading is psychological battleground its like playing poker hand, you must know when to call, when to fold and when to go all in. Even if you have best the formula it doesn't always work that way.

Tell me how to manage emotions in trading and I will be really gratefull. Emotions is something what makes me bad trader and it affects my trading decisions.
I want to get rid off emotions, but it seems impossible

It is really impossible.

You are saying it like you want to be an AI or something.

Emotion is a part of our identity as a human, without it, we are not human. It is true that it makes us weak but still, there are a lot of investors out there that became successful. That just means that despite us humans, having feelings and emotions that affect our trades, we can still get through if we really put ourselves into it.

Believe it or not emotion has a big factor amd the huge competitor here in crypto industry. You need to control your emotion even it is fear investment or even your eagerness to make a huge investment. You need to use your mind over your emotion because all we know that we need to decide right in our investment because every decision we make is risky.

A bullet-proof technique to prevent emotions affecting your trading is switching from manual to automated trading.

I'm not talking about getting some magical bot from some random guy out there. I'm talking about automating your own trading strategies. When you do that, the creative aspects of trading (building strategies including all decision-making logic) is disconnected from the daily acts of trading (executing trades), which is ultimately handled by your bot.

Not only that. Automating your trading also forces you to be a lot more structured in your work. You work on a strategy, backtest it over historical data, do some paper trading and forward testing before actually going live. It's a long process, but it is that kind of structure that allows the pros to become profitable, unlike most amateurs who loose money all the time, due to their improvised, emotional actions.

This article explains how to make that switch, and you don't need to be a programmer to do it: Switching From Manual to Automated Crypto-Trading in 3 Steps (https://hackernoon.com/switching-from-manual-to-automated-crypto-trading-874gw2cji)

Well, I think it's normal since we are talking about earnings or income the reason why we felt emotional sometimes. Especially when the price drops down we almost decide to panic selling but still, we are able to manage our emotions when it comes to trading crypto. You should follow what your brain says not on relying on your emotions because sometimes it will drag you down from your business in trading. I appreciated on what OP's stated.

Cryptocurrency market has lots of ups, downs, twists and turns therefore as a crypto activist, enthusiast, trader and investor you need to stay still and remain unshaken by the changes that occured and may occur, And being too emotional is the last thing you need to carry with you upon entering cryptocurrency space. The only time you're gonna make a profit out of emotions is if the emotions you're going to use is other's to convince them do things that will go your way.

The most simple trick to avoid using your emotions when you are trading is to device a strategy that tells you when to get in the market and when to get out and to develop the will to follow it no matter what, that way you can get out of a losing position automatically without any drama, you must remember that the devastating losses that many traders suffer come from the fact many of them hold their positions for too long hoping for the market to recover when what they should be doing is to sell their coins to protect their capital.

Getting too emotional while trading cryptocurrencies isn't good and it will affect badly your physical and mental health too. You have to control your emotions while trading, because the market is unstable and the prices always are volatile, so there is always a possibility of losing, even if you are really an experienced trader.

It's too bad to continue trading in any platform, don't take any decision based on emotion, I think there are some ways to recovering from these emotional issues. If you have proper education on this issue then you could gain a lot of confidence regarding more trading and then you couldn't depend on your other's advice or self emotion, so accurate information is must when you start something, another thing is that a market prediction is really a good tool in this crisis, If you have proper knowledge then you must have a good market prediction and then you could follow your vision, Don't think too much, think yourself rationally and try to get a solution by scrutinizing very carefully.

You actually don't have to do that since every movement could affect your emotion. I would rather plan the execution of my entry trade and then once I found the opportunity, I'll enter it with risk management. Through setting stop loss, you won't need to watch the market at the very long time. It'll save your time and possible losses.

being emotional when trading is something that cannot be eliminated. sometimes people get too excited, or sometimes people get greedy when trading. it's something that can't be avoided, especially when you've found the plot of trading.

I just feel there is no trick to get rid of things like this. even when you are patient. some people try to do it, but they are increasingly interested in trading because of his victory, or because of his defeat.

I think emotions is mainly responsible factor for the loss trading in cryptocurrency. If you can't control it than you will lost. Market movement up and down is important thing in trading. Bad news will be affected in trading and you get emotional. So that i think daily trading is better to protect your emotions. Because for long trading make you panic and emotional. Calm the mind from emotions It's difficult but you can practice it by playing games on your Android phone, I tried it and I managed to reduce my emotions then I continued my trading. You must have patience in the world of trading, otherwise you will continue to get emotional and it will disrupt your trading.
Playing games with our phone is not similar to the situation that we may encounter in trading. Too much pressure in trading and more in analytical strategies. We can't totally escaped from any emotions, even we tried to control it but still it shows...How we could make it right, do trading when we have peace in mind.

What do you mean getting emotional while trading? Emotion is a human nature. You cant take it away from a person.

Getting too emotional while trading isnt something that we get rid of, instead, Its a thing that we need to learn and understand on how we react to a certain situation (most specially when you're lossing your trade.)
One of the most challenging emotion is when youre getting the feeling of FOMO, and panic selling.

One thing to remember, we trade to get profit not to cut down our losses.

Getting too emotional while trading cryptocurrencies isn't good and it will affect badly your physical and mental health too. You have to control your emotions while trading, because the market is unstable and the prices always are volatile, so there is always a possibility of losing, even if you are really an experienced trader.
Losing a big amount of money is probably the number one reason of why people get emotional when they trade, many suggest that in order to avoid this you should only trade money you can afford to lose, but if you want to obtain profits big enough to change your life then you need to invest an important amount of money, for that reason most traders cannot really follow that advice, and the only way to avoid begin emotional over this is to accept the fact that losing money is inevitable and to have an established stop loss as a way to limit your losses.

emotions can never be profitable, trading must be patient and relaxed, enjoy the cryptocurrency price movements and as much as possible do not let you be affected by a variety of bad news that can affect your emotions because it will only make you panic and can not think clearly.
Emotions can be profitable if you know how to use it,especially emotions of others.

Trading should be done with patience and much awareness,if you just take it as job with no effort then you will be start losing your capital in long term.
Trading is just like any other jobs rather it demands more energy and work than any other physical or day job. You have to sit in front of desktops for hours keeping an eagle eye over the graphs of our crypto coins. In day trading, you cannot afford to miss even an hour because prices are volatile and getting emotional under such conditions make things even worst.
You actually don't have to do that since every movement could affect your emotion. I would rather plan the execution of my entry trade and then once I found the opportunity, I'll enter it with risk management. Through setting stop loss, you won't need to watch the market at the very long time. It'll save your time and possible losses.
There is no way anyone wants to lose money in any kind of investment. People do investments just to increase their money. As far as entering into trade is concerned, make sure you have analyzed market completely and are capable of making money with the coin you are intending to do trading with. I am myself never ever intrigued by trading.

Remember losing money and having an emotional break down after it can affect the certain person who is trading it. This emotional break down can affect your future trade, It can trigger your panic side and everyone here knows that panicking on trade can bring you a loss or defeat to the trade that you are doing.

The Crypto market, like the Stock Market, is always driven many times by emotions, when we see that Bitcoin begins to rise, many enter the market buying, and what they do not know is that many are selling taking advantage of that small rally, they are bullish traps , which are managed by whales, take advantage of the emotions caused by the market to make a profit.

That is a small example of what happens, there are many movements that obey emotions, when there is bad news about bitcoin causes panic in many, and that is when they sell desperately, they do not care if it is cheap, they think it is better to sell cheap, to not lose more, that kind of mistakes is what causes emotions. Sometimes you have to be away from the market when there is nothing clear, do not intervene, the market always gives opportunities for entry.

In my opinion this is indeed a natural thing for humans. how could they not worry when their assets were at stake as trading and at that time the price condition was experiencing a decline. if we are still not used to be very emotional maybe even confused if it will still wait or sell. even though you already have experience that is also humane if you still feel that controlling emotions is not easy as many people say

I would highly suggest setting aside your emotions especially when it comes to trading crypto because it's just like gambling. You won't always win the reason why you need to accept the result of your trading no matter how are it is you must be strong enough and be ready for it at any time. Trading is not just easy, you need to patiently wait first and probably your emotion will get you to lose from trading if you can't manage it well. Don't follow your emotions, instead, follow what you are in mind and the best analysis as well.

Emotion sometimes are out of our control, to much of it could break your momentum in trading. Maybe we can also consider young investors and inexperienced traders who has weaker decisions can also contribute to markets volatility.

Getting emotional while trading will not help you to stay patient, at the beginning of my trading I have experienced such type of emotion we see a downturn. Before entering into trading we have to prepare ourselves by not getting panic because panic is the most dangerous factor in trading.
There are numerous examples of people losing great money in trading just because they panicked or there are those cases also where they were about to win some good money but because of too much rush of emotions, they took decision of quitting trading at that very moment leaving huge profit. So do trading without emotions or instincts.

We all have different ways or tricks that will help us not to get to emotional when it comes to trading, for me color does have an effect on me as well, sometimes if the color is to light I got bored easily so sometimes I change the colors to dark colors. It may sound silly but there are times when you can focus and think more if you set up the trading view to your liking. Well, this only depends on the person but for me I also think that by simply changing the color can somehow help at some point.

The price will remain the same regardless of what color you put into your trading view. If we really think about it, color don’t have any impact on the market movement but it does have an impact in staying focus on trading. Some people prefer lighter colors to stay focused on the platform some also prefer dark colors for them to stay focus so it depends on someones preference. Me personally don’t mind about the color so long as you are determined and that you are disciplined to focus then that good already.

This is the main obstacle to make a profit from trading purpose, I think the emotional based decision will kill you when you want to make a trade, So proper study and analysis would be the main element for your trading purpose and control your emotion by having proper prediction regarding the market, I know Someone who have lost huge money in trading when he took a sudden decision without any proper analysis, first of all, trading is not an easy task, secondly, Trading requires a lot of patience. most important thing is that market speculation will bring something special if you can make, and if the market is very manipulated then somehow you could face a disaster if you don't follow the proper analysis.

I myself was the same when I was trading. difficult to control emotions in looking at price charts that tend to decrease prices. in my opinion right now what needs to be done is to be more patient when we face market movements that are experiencing a decline or an increase. as our experience increases we are more able to control ourselves

Good point you have there lad! getting emotional on trading is natural because were not a robot but just a human being. Most of the traders could not avoid this trading emotions but became successful in the end because they have learn how to manage them.

Frustration is one of your enemy whenever you lose in trading and if you want to overcome this then you must start accepting the fact that not all of your trades will become succesful and take this as a lesson, you may also start analyzing where it went wrong and for sure it will helpful you on your future trades.
