Title: Libra currency basket proportions!
Post by: shadowduck on September 25, 2019, 12:05:00 PM
The Libra currency basket will consist of 50% of US dollars, 18% of euros, 14% of Japanese yen, 11% of British pounds and 7% of Singapore dollars.

What do you think about such proportions?

I think that now all these details are not important. Now the most important question is whether the libra will exist at all! They have difficulties with regulators and this may prevent the project from creating its own product. will see what will happens

Why not 100% USD? and no proportions?

We will have to see about that, but by the current look of the situation, it indicates that a lot of government around the globe doesn't like Libra at all. Because it will take Facebook to the next level of dominating, unless they allow governments to regulate them very carefully so that it won't get out of control in the next two to five years and Facebook become more powerful business entity.

This could just also be the reason why they divide Libra for rare currencies to get thumbs up from the regulators in the regions and then it can exist. Thoug facebook is a big company but without support, this project will not exist knowing there are regions trying to block it.  But where can we find these information?

Perhaps this is a way for Libra not to depend entirely on the dollar, which also helps keep Libra's price more stable. The concern now is Libra has launched as they planned or not?

Since the Dollar is still 50%, I think that the other currencies are there only for political/advertising reasons.

And I agree: all this has a chance to matter only if Libra will actually ever exist.

I think this is a good proportion for the currency basket. However, Libra now has big problems with regulators, we may not see the work of this project. It is not beneficial for the government to have another similar business giant, especially in the field of cryptocurrencies.

How do you come up with this bifurcation of Libra's backup asset? Any reference do you have?

I am sure that this proportion is incorrect! Because there is no hedge position they have created. Rather they are just betting on some strong currencies! If the world economy sees a great recession, there's no way Libra will survive.

I would rather prefer to have at least 15% allocation in precious metals like Gold and Silver purely for unforeseen future events. These precious metals are being used for hedging by almost all fund managers to safeguard the asset value during an economic slowdown!

I wonder why Facebook is not considering precious metals in their asset allocation!! It's suicidal!

I dont care about the currencies involve in the project, it is all about the investors to make.
What i see is LIBRA will succeed and everything will be okay with out any advertisement or bounty campaigns to make.
This will get more investors as LIBRA dont need to do give aways.

What ever it takes it will be a cryptocurrency after all so i doesn't matter what proportion they make.
What important is the product that libra will offer.
I am sure that every investors of this LIBRA will be a winner and i hope i can invest on it too.

It is pretty fine at least for me
50% of USD
and 14% of JPY to hedge the volatility
and 36% more other currency

I mean of course as a "stablecoin", you need to find ways to maintain the valuation of your "coin" with a formula/calculation
They will be adding more and more types of assets within matter of time

Earlier it was announced that the Libra coin will be provided with several dozens of conventional currencies, as well as shares of large campaigns. However, it is still too early to discuss their relationship. Facebook has very big, and in my opinion, insoluble difficulties with the launch of this stable coin. The states of Europe and the USA very sharply oppose the appearance of this coin and there are good reasons for this. Therefore, do not rush. There is no point in discussing something that may never appear.

It was obvious that the major part of their back up would be in USD, but such a bright diversification, makes me trust the devs. It does not matter how much people would complain about libra, a lot of people would use it.

It's a good and stable option. But still highly depended on US whose economy seems to be lacking the charm recently.
They should have rather decreased the ratio of fiats and added gold and cryptocurrency to make it independent of financial moves.

Today I watched a video about libra particularly, where it states that libra is going to launch their crypto for each country separetely?

This maybe the reason behind these different proportions?

Well, this is still not surprising to me because the USD has always been the dominating currency, and this is the most important currency to some people in the world, and it is even a perfect thing to me, if people are changing their dollar to cryptocurrency, it will easily make the dream of cryptocurrency to be achieved when it becomes fully legalized, which means majority of USD holder would have become used to making use of cryptocurrency and probably would have converted all their coin to crypto by then, by why talking of Libra when the coin we should be talking about right now is Bitcoin.

I am really not seeing the function of Libra coin other than the normal digital payment that we have around us, and also the fact that this coin is a centralized coin and will be fully controlled by Facebook and its team with all our information at their palm.

This is a big political meter. You try to include the currencies of the world economic powers so as to attract usability. I understand Singapore is a great tech country, and very cryptocurrency friendly, maybe that is why they decided to include their currency. China is not included because of economic rivalry with the US. I hope they get a soft landing from the hook of the politicians.

How about sharing the source of the information.. I'm interested on this project and I'm optimistic on the success of its launch.

They have difficulties but we never read a news that its impossible for them to comply all the difficulties.
They have the will to change and contribute int he crypto space, and they will become a big player here so I guess our support and being optimistic would help.
